Don't take it away from me, because you don't know what it means to me." ,Narnia
(This is one of my favorite songs from Queen :3). for LovingBOBThePacific
Caspian was so sure she was going to stay. Stay in Narnia, stay with him- forever. He had been so sure.
He loved Lucy more than he ever thought possible. She had been his best friend when they were fighting his uncle; her faith, her strength, her courage had drawn him to her like a moth to a small flame. Despite her age and size, Lucy's flame glew brighter than all the stars in the heavens. She was caring, gentle yet fierce and just so...Lucy.
And then she had come back to him. He had scarcely believe it when he pulled her out of the water; there she was- dripping wet- and beautiful as an angel. She was still the same girl he had known, she had just grown to match her inner self. He saw the Lucy of the Golden Age and was in sheer awe of her very presence.
And when she laughed, he longed to kiss her parted night, he did.
And he thought his heart would burst when she returned his kiss.
…
He had been so certain she would stay.
But she didn't.
Tearfully, she had returned to England. Her final pleading, agony-filled glance had ripped his heart from his chest. It didn't matter; she may as well keep it, it would always belong to her anyway.
He invited the star to return to Narnia with them, but rarely spoke to her. She seemed to understand. In fact, she understood so deeply, that she politely refused his offer to go to Narnia. Her final smile was one of pity. He couldn't even be angry about it- he felt pitiful and broken.
How could she leave?
His prayers were the same every night.
Aslan, please. Bring her back to me. Narnia needs her. I need her. Please.
When the Dawn Treader landed, Trumpkin was there to greet them. "Come quickly Caspian, please." As he rushed off towards the castle. Caspian followed in haste. They rushed through the hallways, twisting and turning until Caspian was jogging to keep up with his advisor. They stopped short outside a spare chamber that. "There's been the most...unusual turn of events…" Trumpkin tried to explain, but simply shook his head and then knocked on the door. Caspian furrowed his brow as Trumpkin began to walk away. "Wha-"
But he was cut off by the softed pair of lips he could imagine- he must have been imagining, this couldn't be.
They broke their kiss and Caspian stroked back her auburn hair, "Lucy."
