...I would say sorry for breaking all your hearts but don't think I've ever seen so much hatred for one man in my entire life! You all wanted to either slap Dean or punch him in the face, and then a good part of you thought he ran away with Renee, or some other chick, but did he? Your reviews amused me greatly, but I think you've all waited long enough to know where Dean went, so I'd like to thank peace468, angelsdee327, calwitch, The Simonette254, Alisi824, UntilNeverDawns, DeeMarie426, Kelli83, Slytherin Studios, Tori Moxley, Carol Reigns, ChelleLew, Beckah Godric-Northman, JM242014, IRENELOVE83, LeaMarie F. Running on a mere 3 and a half hours of sleep, Scarlett released the pillow she'd been clutching to her chest from her hold as she grabbed her cell phone from the bedside table, pressing the button at the top in the hopes that maybe he had texted her when she slept. She didn't care if the message said he never wanted to see her again, she just wanted to see Dean's name in her inbox. She needed to see it, just so the dull ache in her chest would go away. So the shocked look he gave her would leave her mind, but luck didn't seem to be on her side this morning.
Her heart had swelled slightly with hope when her screen lit up, showing the little envelope icon in the top bar indicating she had received a message while she slept. However once she tapped her way into her inbox, the hope inside her chest crashed and burned when she didn't find Dean's name there, but Phil's name instead.
'Nice wording last night with our favorite Corporate Demon. Gave me a little bit of Deja Vu to be honest ;)'
Normally she would've chuckled at the message and sent back a witty remark, but right now she wasn't up for witty remarks or anything like that. So relocking her phone, she returned it to its place on the bedside table before rising to her feet, moving to gather up some clothes and her bath things before making her way into the bathroom for a shower. She kept her head down so she didn't have to see the bags he'd placed in the corner of their room when they arrived to get changed for the club which remained untouched, and so she didn't have to face her reflection in the mirror just yet.
Placing her clean clothes on the counter she stripped out of her bra and panties before moving over to the shower to turn on the water, holding her hand out under the stream to make sure it wasn't too hot or too cold before she stepped inside and closed the curtain behind her. As the warm water cascaded down over her head, soaking her hair before it fell to drench the rest of her body before running down into the drain, her eyes closed as his face appeared behind her eyelids. She saw the shocked expression he wore as he moved away from her, so he wasn't touching her anymore, and when she'd repeated her words, he'd taken off faster than a bat out of hell.
"You.." He started before shaking his head in disbelief. Running his fingers through his hair, he looked back down at her. "You don't ever say that to me. That shit's for Roman, not me."
Reopening her eyes, she tilted her head back to stare at the ceiling, silently cursing when she felt the prickling of tears at the backs of her sore eyes once again. Shaking the thoughts away momentarily she quickly washed her body and her hair, turning the knob all the way off once she was done before stepping out to towel herself off. Once she was dry she pulled on her plain white bra and panties followed by a pair of black skinny jeans that had rips along the thighs, throwing her 'In Punk We Trust' sweater over top of her bra. Zipping it up to the middle of her chest she then took a calming breath as she walked in front of the mirror, bracing her hands against the countertop as she lifted her gaze to the reflection staring back at her.
She looked... normal. Despite the redness of her eyes and the slight bags beneath them, you couldn't tell that each beating of her heart inside her chest hurt like a bitch. Like someone had shoved their hand inside her chest cavity and was squeezing the vital organ, squeezing it so hard only for them to let go so she could breathe again, then once she'd just managed to catch her breath they squeezed it again. She knew nobody would be able to tell how much she was hurting inside, but one look into her blueish-green eyes and even she could see things she didn't want shown.
Reaching for the hair elastic around her wrist, she tied her hair up into a messy bun before gathering up her dirty clothes and moving into the bedroom again. Once she'd shoved her things into her bag she made her way over to the door and pulled it open, causing all conversation to cease as she stepped out into the room. Her eyes roamed over them all, Tori munching on a piece of toast as she sent Scarlett a warm smile, Seth sitting next to her on the couch with a forkful of eggs paused halfway to his mouth as he worriedly looked at her from head to toe, and lastly to Roman who sat in the chair off to the other couples right with his hand paused in mid-air, leaned forwards as he was reaching for his coffee cup. She knew they'd probably been talking about her, or the fact that Dean hadn't returned last night, but she honestly couldn't care less at that moment.
Nobody said anything as she shuffled over to Roman, curling up on his lap so she could bury her face in the crook of his neck. When she felt him lean back in the chair to be more comfortable before sliding his arms around her waist she sighed quietly to herself. Here she was loved. Here she didn't have to be scared of him running away, but how long would it take for her to get used to only having one man to cuddle up to?
"Scarlett?" She heard Tori's voice say her name quietly, like it would break if she said it too loudly. Scarlett lifted her head from Roman's neck to peer over at the younger girl before she went on. "Do you want anything to eat? There's toast, eggs, bacon..."
"No thank you." She denied, her voice just as quiet as she began leaning her head down to return to her spot. However the sound of the door opening behind them paused her actions, turning her head sideways instead to look over Roman's shoulder. She knew she shouldn't have looked, but she'd wanted to anyway.
The pause in his step was the only sign he'd acknowledged her when their eyes met as Dean pushed the door open. Her heart clenched painfully in her chest as she looked him up and down, the wrinkles in his clothes he'd worn to the club last night gave her two impressions: One being that he'd slept in them, and two being that they were wrinkled up from being thrown haphazardly in some direction as they were taken off in the heat of a moment. She desperately hoped it was option one.
"Where the fuck have you been, Ambrose?" Seth questioned as he set his plate down on the table in front of them, food completely forgotten about. "You disappear and don't answer any of our calls or texts, you could've been face down in a ditch somewhere."
"I was with Sami." Dean shrugged in response, lifting a hand to scratch at the back of his neck as he moved over to the food cart. Lifting the lid off of one of the trays, he stole a piece of bacon from it and took a bite of it. "He's gonna give me a ride to Houston, just came to get my stuff."
"Since he's so kindly giving you a ride I guess Renee Young doesn't have to grace us with her presence then, does she?" Scarlett snapped at him over Roman's shoulder surprising everyone in the room, including herself. She kept her jaw clenched and showed no emotion as he turned his head to look at her, showing no emotion himself either.
"I don't know, if I didn't answer any of you guys do you really think I was going to answer her? Or anybody else for that matter?" He shot back but Scarlett remained quiet, her mind whirring in several different directions all leading up to one final thought; he hadn't gone to Renee, he hadn't gone and ran off to some other woman.
"So you were really with Sami then?" Tori questioned him. Dean's response was to tilt his head back and groan before he shifted his blue eyes onto the younger girl.
"Yes, and we all know he knows you better than we do so why don't you pick up your phone and ask him if you don't trust me." He barked at her causing her eyebrows to furrow in confusion before he shifted his attention onto the only person in the room who hadn't spoken to him yet, Roman. "Can I talk to you for a minute, Ro? Privately?"
"Uh, yeah. Sure." Roman answered, shifting his attention onto Scarlett now who had stilled in his lap suddenly. "You gonna be alright for a few minutes, sweetheart?"
Scarlett didn't respond right away, didn't even take her eyes off of Dean for one second as she was trying to figure out what he could possibly want to talk to Roman about. She could feel that hand squeezing her heart tighter than they ever had before but she forced herself to stay calm, she didn't know why he wanted to talk to Roman. She could only assume things until he came up to her face and told her point-blank he wanted nothing to do with her anymore, until then, she had to remain calm. If not, she might as well strap on one of those lamb masks and join the Wyatt Family in some reincarnation of Sister Abigail or something.
Nodding her head silently, she slowly got to her feet with Roman's help before he stood up behind her. She felt him press a kiss to the top of her head that soothed her emotions slightly, but they skyrocketed again as her eyes connected to Dean's again as he shut the bedroom door behind them.
"Alright, what the hell happened last night? Why were you crying and what's the real reason Dean didn't come back here last night?" Seth fired off as soon as the door was shut, earning a sharp slap to the arm from his girlfriend. "Ouch, what was that for?!"
"For being a guy, you insensitive...guy!" Tori answered in a frustrated tone. Her response had drawn the first smile on Scarlett's face since the night before when she'd been 'consoling' Renee for liking the scumbag Dean Ambrose, and that thought alone had the smile slipping from her face again which didn't go unnoticed by her tag team partner.
"You can tell us you know, we're not here to judge you or anything like that. Just here to listen if you want.." She stated causing Scarlett to sigh as she flopped back on the chair Roman had just vacated. Here goes nothing...
A couple of hours later Smackdown was in full swing and Scarlett found herself standing alongside Tori, Roman, Zeb Colter and Heath Slater at ringside as Dean and Seth fought in a Fatal Fourway tag match against Ryback and Curtis Axel, The Real Americans Jack Swagger and Cesaro, and Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre from 3MB. The match was set up by the Authority earlier on in the day with the winners of said match getting a chance to fight against the Usos at an upcoming event for the WWE Tag Team Championships. What event, Scarlett wasn't sure of but what she did know was that the Shield having not only the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions and the United States Champion, adding on the WWE Tag Team Champions in one stable would make them even more dominant than they already were now.
Despite her current feelings towards the WWE's United States Champion, Scarlett still felt very proud that Dean had dominated for most of the match when he was in the ring. At one point in time the Shield was very well represented by Ambrose and Rollins when they were the only ones standing on the apron, the competing members of 3MB and The Real Americans having backed off once Seth and Dean had suicide dived right onto Ryback and Curtis Axel's heads. Now however, was a different story.
"Come on, Ambrose!" Tori shouted from Scarlett's right as Seth stomped on the steel steps, both of them urging for Dean to come and tag out. She watched as he struggled to crawl into his corner to tag in Seth after taking a massive beating from pretty much everyone competing, including a 'Cesaro Swing' into the barricade and a massive 'meat hook' from Ryback.
"Watch out, watch out, watch out!" Seth shouted, followed by a long drawn out 'Nooo!' when Cesaro managed to tag in Jack Swagger first. Swagger immediately dragged Dean into the middle of the ring only for Dean to curl him up into small package, Swagger managing to kick out at 2.
Both men got to their feet at the same time and Scarlett let a cheer slip through her lips when Dean managed to gain the upperhand via a headlock piledriver to the apron that nearly seemed to knock Swagger out. The fans surrounding them quickly grew rowdy as Dean finally made it into his corner, slapping Seth's gloved hand to tag him in. Once Seth had thrown himself over the top rope to get inside the ring, Scarlett made her way over to Dean as he seated himself on the steel steps to catch his breath as he rubbed at his chest slightly. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine!" He snapped, only realizing too late who had asked him the question. His gaze found Scarlett's narrowed one, though he could see the sadness reflected in her eyes clear as day.
"Sorry for asking, I won't do it again." She shot back, moving back to her original spot so they were separated by Tori just in time to see Seth leap up and kick Drew McIntyre right off the apron.
When Jinder ran after Seth, he was met with an elbow to the face that threw him off balance so he didn't see Seth climb up to the second turn buckle before Seth was flying at him, flipping over the mans head as he grabbed onto his neck and planted him to the apron causing him to land on the back of his neck. Scarlett's smile grew in amusement as Seth pounded his fists against the apron a couple of times before he got to his feet, running at Rybaxel's corner of the ring to knock Curtis off the apron as well. Doing so caused an angered Ryback to enter the ring and charge at Seth, only for Seth to drop down and grab the ropes, sending Ryback right overtop of them right in front of the announce table.
"Come on, baby!" Tori shouted as Seth moved into the corner where they stood. His smile as he ran at Jinder Mahal in the opposite corner was what told them he'd heard her, as he hit Jinder with a flying clothesline into the corner. As he stumbled out, Seth hit the ropes and ducked under Jinder's arm as he went for a clothesline and instead of hitting the ropes like Scarlett thought he was going to, Seth instead gripped the top rope firmly in his hands and flung himself over it, landing right on top of Ryback. And how the fucker managed to land on his feet, Scarlett didn't have the slightest clue.
"How the hell are you kitten when he always lands on his feet like a goddamn cat?" Scarlett managed to ask as she chuckled causing Tori to chuckle as well, shrugging her shoulders in a response.
They watched as Seth flew over the top rope from the apron and over Jinder's bent over form, once again landing on his feet behind him, hitting Jinder with a mule kick to the chest once the man turned around causing Jinder to fall to his hands and knees. As Seth bounced in his spot the girls cheered, knowing he was going for his curbstomp as he ran at the ropes however before he could rebound Heath Slater had reached under the bottom rope and snagged Seth's foot causing him to trip.
"Hey!" Scarlett shouted in the man's direction before spinning around when she saw a mass of black fly past her from the corner of her eye. Turns out that mass of black had been Roman setting off in a run as he nearly speared Slater's glasses right off his head, emitting a mighty roar once he'd gotten back to his feet.
Inside the ring Seth managed to hit Jinder with an enzuigiri causing the man to once again fall to his knees, and when Seth hit the ropes this time nothing was stopping him from curbstomping Jinder's face into the apron. Scarlett and Tori immediately joined in with the crowd as they chanted along with the ref as he slapped his hand to the apron: One! Two!
They both groaned when Drew managed to break up the pin, but having saw it coming, Dean was already back in the ring as he charged at Drew and threw him out of the ring before he followed him. However the sharp in take of breath Tori gave drew Scarlett's attention away from the chaos inside the ring, finding the girls eyes wide as she stared at something. "What?"
"Look!" She shouted and when Scarlett turned around, she wished she hadn't as she watched her uncle Kane deliver a massive right hand to Roman as he turned around.
"Glenn!" Scarlett shouted, not caring in the slightest she wasn't supposed to call him that when on air. She was too shocked at what she was seeing as she watched her uncle continue to beat on Roman as he moved up the ramp to get away from him. She literally felt rooted to her spot as she watched her uncle and boyfriend trade blows to the head as they moved up the ramp, the fans booing extremely loudly as she also heard body's being stomped on inside the ring. The thing that finally drew her out of her shocked state was the sight of Road Dogg and Billy Gunn emerging from behind the curtain to come to the aid of her uncle.
"Those bastards." She nearly growled as they began beating on Roman as well. Turning to Tori, she found that the younger girls attention was flicking from the scene on the ramp to the one inside the ring before finally settling on Scarlett herself.
"The heck is happening?" She questioned but Scarlett didn't have a reasonable response for her. She did have a response, but it wasn't reasonable, it was insane.
"Come on!" Scarlett ordered as she dropped her title to the ground and stripped out of her Shield sweater. She hopped on her spot three times exactly as she waited for Tori to do the same before she shot up the ramp towards Roman, Kane and the New Age Outlaws, but not before she heard Tori mutter the words, "Oh fuck."
The last thing Road Dogg or Billy Gunn expected as they hauled Roman up to his knees by the hair of his head was to be attacked by the two girls. Scarlett hadn't even blinked twice, nor did she ever stop running once she'd began as she shot forward, nailing a spear of her own into Road Dogg's gut. Whether or not it was his surprise that allowed her to take him down, or the mere fact that he'd 'let himself go' over the years, Scarlett didn't know but she was impressed with herself when she'd managed to spear the man down onto the ramp.
Tori on the other hand had taken a page out of Dean's book, leaping on top of Billy Gunn with her arms and legs hitting and kicking at any body part she could manage as they too fell hard onto the ramp. She didn't stop then either, continuing her assault on Billy until he'd managed to gather himself and twist her arms behind her back causing her to cry out in pain. He'd managed to roll them over and get them to their feet while Road Dogg did the same with Scarlett, both girls not making it easy to hold onto them.
"How dare you? How dare you?" Road Dogg shouted in Scarlett's ear as she tried to get her arms out of his grip. Her attempts to get away however were halted by her whimper when she watched Kane deliver a chokeslam from Hell to Roman right on the ramp, watching as his head lulled to the side with his eyes closed.
"Let me go! Fucking let me go!" She growled out as the three men began moving down the ramp, dragging the two girls along with them. It was only when she was shoved into Jack Swagger's arms and Tori was shoved into Heath Slater's arms that Scarlett turned her attention into the ring, seeing the amount of damage the other men had caused Seth and Dean.
"Leave him alone!" She heard Tori shout when Road Dogg began his assault on Seth, kicking him over and over in the ribs before delivering one to Dean as well. Scarlett fought against Swagger's arms but he was a lot stronger than Road Dogg so if she couldn't escape him, she definitely couldn't escape Swagger. Unless...
Jumping up and swinging her head back, Scarlett felt the back of her head connect to something causing the Real American to cry out in pain as he let her go. Just as she was about to run for the ring again, a pair of stronger arms wrapped around her waist from behind making her actually growl this time once she realized it was Cesaro. Now she was truly fucked.
Tori fought against her restraints as well but that hadn't stopped her from cringing when Billy hit Seth with a Famouser, just like Scarlett had cringed when Kane chokeslammed Dean to the apron. Out of the corner of her eye, she gasped when she saw Roman slowly crawling his way down the ramp but she wasn't the only one who noticed as Road Dogg quickly got out the ring and kicked Roman right in the side of the head.
"Leave him alone!" Scarlett shouted, echoing Tori's earlier words as she struggled against Cesaro's strength, watching as the man she'd shouted at ignored her and lifted Roman up by the hair of his head, calling him a 'Pretty boy!' before Billy Gunn came and delivered a sharp punch to Roman's jaw that knocked him flat on his ass once more.
It took both men to get Roman back to his feet before they ushered him into the ring, rolling him under the bottom rope. Once they were in the ring as well, Road Dogg took a hold of Dean's wrist as he dragged him out the way as Kane grabbed Roman by his hair and lifted him to his feet. Once he was up, Kane thrust his hand forward to grasp onto Roman's throat before he shot Scarlett a look, smirking as she looked away from him as he then proceeded to lift Roman in the air and deliver the second chokeslam to the Samoan man.
Casting a last look at the 3 fallen members of the Shield, Kane and the New Age Outlaws exited the ring. The match set up by the Authority had ended exactly how they thought it would, and exactly how they had wanted it to.
"Who the fuck do those old men think they are?!" Tori shouted a short while later as she paced back and forth in front of the Medical Examiner's room. The only thing that was separating them from Roman and Seth was the steel door that'd been slammed in their faces when they tried to enter the room behind their men. "Why would they help Kane take us out?"
"They're Authority ass-kisser's just like my uncle, they're Degeneration X. Remember who else is a member of DX?" Scarlett questioned, however before Tori could respond the door opened behind them.
"Ah, good, you're both still here." Doc Sampson stated from his spot in the doorway. "I know it's unlikely that he'll come, but would one of you go get Ambrose so I can check him out as well? It's only precautionary, but he still should be checked out."
Once they'd made it through the curtain, Seth and Roman knew it'd be wise to get themselves checked out but Dean, being the stubborn man that he was, had disappeared on them. Tori'd been too worried about Seth to care about him and Scarlett didn't think she had the heart to go after him, but now, she didn't think she had any other choice.
"I'll go, he might listen to me more than you." She stated, ignoring the worried look Tori shot her at her words. "I'll be fine, go see how Seth and Roman are, alright?"
With a quick nod of her head, Tori was let into the room by Doc Sampson while Scarlett had the joy of trying to find Dean. She didn't even know if he was still here, but by sheer luck, a few minutes after she'd began looking for him she turned a corner and smacked right into Sami Callihan.
"Woah, sorry. You alright?" He apologized when they'd both straightened up, lifting his head to look her in the eye. "Where's Tori and the rest of your crew?"
"Still getting checked out, do you know where Dean is?" She questioned. It took him a second to answer, his eyes roaming over her in a different way than he had been the day before, like he was trying to gather something about her rather than sizing her up. "He's in your locker room, I was just heading to the Doc's room to get some ice for his shoulder. That chokeslam really got to him, but you know him, refusing to get it checked."
"Yeah, the stubborn ass." Scarlett sighed which earned an approving laugh from Sami. She smiled at him in a thank you as she moved passed him, but his hand on her arm caused her to glance back at him.
"Give him a bit, he's not used to all of this stuff being thrown in his face. Give him some time and I'm sure he'll come around." He stated with a small smile before releasing her arm and turning to continue on his way. His words confused Scarlett but she shrugged them off, moving in the path that would bring her to their locker room. Once she arrived she took a deep breath before she pushed open the door and entered the room, immediately spotting him seated on a bench with his back to her.
"That was fucking quick, you got some sort of ice guy on speed dial or something?" Dean questioned as he untwirled the tape from his right hand, not bothering to glance over his shoulder. The voice that responded to his question however, made him stand up so quickly he got a bit dizzy.
"I don't have an ice guy on speed dial, no, but I should." She'd responded with a small smile, but it faded quickly when she noticed him teeter on his feet a bit once he'd stood up. Rushing over to him, she grabbed onto his arm to help him balance. "Be careful! You just got the shit kicked out of you."
"You thought I went to Renee." He stated out of the blue. It wasn't a question, it was a statement. A statement that caused her to stiffen up as she bowed her head. "You thought I went to another woman last night, didn't you?" When he received no verbal or physical response, he did something he knew would get a response out of her.. He kissed her.
Scarlett gasped slightly when she felt his lips on hers, her heart hammering inside her chest. As much as she wanted to melt into him, she couldn't let herself give in so instead, she shoved him away. "Stop that!"
"Why? Why should I stop, huh?" He asked, pressing another kiss to her lips before she could shove him away again. "Tell me why I should stop."
"You know why!" She shouted at him, finally giving into the pain she'd been feeling all day as she was forced to hide it. Her tears filled her eyes just as quickly as they ran down her cheeks as she stared at him. "You fucking ran for the hills when I said what I said, wh-why should I let you kiss me if all your do-doing is playing with my head?!" She managed to stutter out as she cried, taking in the panicked look that took over his face. Shaking her head, she began leaving the room when she felt his hand on her arm before she flung herself around to face him again. "Don't touch me!"
The panicked look he just had was gone as a look of determination now crossed his features. Backing her up against the wall, he pressed his lips to hers again and pinned her arms above her head when she tried to shove him off again. He could taste her tears on her lips as he moved his over hers but he didn't stop until she sagged against him and kissed him back. Pulling back, but not too far away, he whispered, "Come home with me.."
"What?"
"Come to Vegas with me." He repeated. "You can spend all day tomorrow with me, and then fly out to Pensacola to spend the next day with Ro. Come home with me."
Scarlett said nothing, merely staring up at him like he was crazy. Yesterday he'd ran away from her so fast you'd have thought a group of wasps was after him, today he'd hardly acknowledged her and when he did it was to snap at her, and now he was begging for her to go home with him. Just as she was about to ask him how stupid he thought she was, her mind flashed back to the night before when she'd watched him snatch Sami off of his bar stool before leaving the club, and his words from earlier echoed in her mind.
"Give him a bit, he's not used to all of this stuff being thrown in his face. Give him some time and I'm sure he'll come around."
"Princess?" Dean's voice brought her from her thoughts. She hadn't even noticed he'd let go of her arms, as he was now using the hand that was free from tape to wipe her tears that were cascading down her cheeks before he slid his hand under her chin, tilting her head up to press his lips to hers again softly. This time she didn't hesitate as she kissed him back, dropping her arms to rest her hands on his chest. She could feel his heart hammering inside his chest beneath her palm, and her eyes found his once he'd pulled away from the kiss to press their foreheads together.
"Please come home with me, baby..."
Would you look at that, another cliff hanger! ;) Is she going to say yes? Or is she going to say no? Even better, should she say yes, or should she say no? Tell me your opinion in the form of a review! :)
