Tris's POV

"I'm so proud." Tobias says as I unlock the door to the training room, pushing it open and flipping the light switch. The lights turn on one at a time, starting closest to me and reaching out into the dark of the room like an echo of light.

"Why?" I ask, inhaling the scent that I have always associated with Tobias, sweat and sawdust, the smell of the training room.

"You're here on time." Tobias says, grinning. "In fact, if I'm correct," he continues, tapping his wrist, "you're a whole ten minutes early."

"It's a miracle!" I laugh, leaning against the table that's pushed up to the wall.

"It really is." Tobias agrees, coming over to me and placing his hands on my hips. His slender fingers reach all the way to the small of my back, tickling the strip of bare skin below my shirt.

"Well, I can't take all the credit. You made me get up." I say.

"I'll have you know, I quiet enjoy waking you up. You're adorable in the morning, even if you're a bit grouchy." Tobias says, taking a tiny shuffle closer to me. He smiles down at me, his blue eyes twinkling.

"I resent that." I pretend to be offended.

"Oh, is that so?" Tobias asks, leaning in. I lace my fingers around his neck, smiling softly up at him.

"It is." I whisper, but not all of my words get out before Tobias's lips are against mine.

He tastes slightly like chocolate, which makes sense because we just had chocolate muffins, but I can't seem to think about anything else. His stubble presses against my cheek, and his hands are tight against my waist, and all I can think is, you taste like chocolate.

"Mmmm." I hum as our lips part. "Chocolate." I say, knowing how silly it sounds but not caring.

"Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing." Tobias grins.

"Go figure." I smile. Tobias's foot is right against mine, both of his feet touching the outside side of mine, and his foot taps lightly against the concrete floor. "What are you doing?" I ask, nudging his foot with mine.

"Dancing, of course." Tobias says.

"Oh, duh. Silly me." I say sarcastically.

"Silly you." Tobias agrees, stepping away and pulling me with him. He twirls me around into the room, spinning in circles to our own secret rhythm.

"Dance." He whispers.

And we do. His hands stay on my waist as we sway around the room, tracing patterns in the dusty floor with our feet.

He lifts me into the air from my waist, and I shriek despite myself. He twirls me right up against a supporting square column, letting me slide down the wall until we're eye level. I wrap my legs around his waist, my fingers still around his neck and his hands still on my hips. I gently rest my forehead against his.

"Dance." I whisper.

I gently press my lips to his and am instantly lost to anything but him. Bliss. Euphoria. Paradise. There have never been, and there never will be enough words to describe how perfect I feel when Tobias's soft lips are against mine. I truly want to fall into the depths of his kisses and never return.

But, like most things, our kiss has to end.

"Get a room!" I hear a voice call, one that I don't recognize. I open my eyes and Tobias sets me on the ground, slipping his large hand into my small one. We both turn to face the person who stands in the doorway. It's the Candor boy from yesterday, grinning in a not unfriendly way. I know that I should probably say something back, but I don't. I just smile.

The boy steps in, and another person, Zeke, files in behind him, leaving just one person still in the doorway. An absolutely fuming Harley. I grin.

"I would actually like this little lovefest to keep going." Zeke says, gesturing towards us.

"Pervert." Tobias frowns. Zeke shrugs.

"Who's this?" The Candor boy asks me, nodding his head towards Tobias.

"That's Four, and you better thank the stars that he isn't training initiates this year." Zeke answers for me, stepping further into the room. "He's tough as shit."

"Yeah, I decided to quite while I was ahead." Tobias adds, trading holding hands with me for resting his arms across my shoulders. I smile, trying not to blush.

"Why are you even here?" Harley snarls at Tobias in from her position in the doorway, breaking the light atmosphere.

"Because I'm dropping Six off." Tobias replies smoothly, his voice not taking any of her bullshit. I snuggle closer to his body smugly. "And why aren't you asking Zeke the same question? He isn't supposed to be here either." Tobias points out, raising his eyebrows. His question is simple, but his voice is demanding.

"Whoa, don't bring me into this." Zeke holds his hands up in the air defensively. "I just saw an open door and people kissing inside. You expected me not to stop?" Zeke asks. I notice that as he says this Harley slips to the side, effectively avoiding having to answer Tobias's question. I wonder why she thinks she can mess with me, but barely even tries with Tobias. Doesn't she realize that messing with me is messing with Tobias?

"You're disgusting." Uriah says to Zeke, materializing in the doorway. "Get out of here. You're embarrassing me." He says, shoving Zeke towards the doorway.

"Oh, am I embarrassing you, Uriah boo?" Zeke says, instantly speaking in a high pitched voice and grabbing for Uriah's cheeks to squeeze them. "Am I embawassing my baby brower? Am I embawassing the little Uri wurry in front of his initiates?" Zeke asks.

Uriah shoves Zeke out of the way, his eyes cold. "Get out of here." He says. "And there's only one initiate in the room."

The Candor boy smiles from his part of the room, raising his hand slightly in the air. I decide that I like him. He's in a room full of people older than him, but he doesn't seem out of place at all.

"But seriously, leave." Uriah adds, glaring at Zeke.

"I'm leaving." Zeke holds his hands in the air, backing away.

"Sorry." Uriah says generally to the room.

Tobias shrugs.

"Alright, I got to go." He turns back to me, leaning down and lightly pecking me on the cheek.

"Bye." I nod.

"Be good." He says jokingly as he begins to walk away.

"No promises." I smile. It's a small smile, the kind that I reserve just for him.

"That's ma' girl." Tobias nods approvingly.

He pauses in the doorway, about ten feet away from where I still stand by the column.

"I love you." He says, wearing a knowing smile and glancing at Harley.

"I love you too." I say back before he disappears around the corner.

I can almost see the smoke coming out of Harley's ears.
