Changes Sequel – III. War + Epilogue – Epilogue Part 29

FUTURE, July 2040

Logan was standing next to the BBQ, supervising the meat and sipping on his beer occasionally. Late July was hot, the sky blue and the sun burning on his skin. He squinted at the way too bright rays and wiped his forehead, smirking as two arms hugged him from behind and a lean body pressed against him. "Hey, darlin'."

"Hey," Jean smiled back and kissed him softly, keeping her arm around him and taking the beer bottle from him to sip on it. "It's such a beautiful day."

"Yeah."

She watched how Alex scooped Rachel up into his arms and let her drop into the pool, just to be pushed into it himself by an invisible force just a second later. Both laughed and splashed water into each other's faces before Alex pulled the redhead close and kissed her. Shaking her head, smiling, her eyes began to shine as she spotted another couple coming through the back door. "Jack and Isa are here."

Logan looked up from the BBQ and frowned. "No Sam?" he asked, sounding disappointed that his granddaughter wasn't with them, but as soon as he heard Lily cooing inside of the kitchen he knew his daughter had snatched the little girl before anyone else. "Lily's got her. She's goin' nuts in the kitchen again."

Jean giggled and leant further into him. "Jealous?"

"Nah," he waved off. He let go of Jean as she went over to hug the couple, then headed immediately to the kitchen. "Traitor…," he growled. His eyes wandered around the garden once more. A frown became visible on his face as he noticed Jake standing close by, a beer in hand and his eyes focused on something. Logan turned to follow his son's gaze and cocked an eyebrow at Liv, who was standing next to Jamie and Tommy, talking to both men. The woman looked up briefly, smiling back at Jake who winked at her.

"That won't end well."

Logan startled at the deep voice next to him that had spoken up all of a sudden. "Jesus…"

"No, but close," Akihiro replied and hugged him back. "How are you, father?"

"About t'have a heart attack, thanks t'ya," Logan grunted. "Good. 'n ya?" He received a shrug. "Yer alone?"

"No. He's getting the kids next," Akihiro said and eyed the BBQ thoughtfully. "So, everything prepared for the big weekend?"

Logan huffed. "Don't start!"

His son cocked an eyebrow. "Worse than my wedding?"

"Lotta worse. The girls went nuts with the plannin'," Logan grunted and within a blink of an eye Kaz and Shinji were standing next to their father.

"Hi, grandpa," they greeted and hugged him, looking kinda green.

"Rough flight?" Logan chuckled.

Shinji held his stomach. "I'll never get used to Papa doing this…" He stepped closer to his father as Jean-Paul landed next to him, dropping off Lin and one suitcase before he was gone again just to reappear with two more suitcases in the next second.

Logan cocked an eyebrow at all the luggage while he hugged Lin. "Did ya pack for a rugby team?!"

The speedster huffed. "One suitcase is his alone." He pointed at his husband behind him and nodded as Kaz and Shin said they would join Jake at the porch. "One is Lin's and the other mine and the boys'."

"And because you are so fast you can take the luggage inside," Akihiro smirked and received a glare.

"Forget it!" Jean-Paul said and took his suitcase and his childrens', before he headed inside.

"Trouble in paradise?" Logan asked, but his son waved off.

"No. He's just a diva today." Grabbing his own suitcase, he followed his husband and left his father to tend the BBQ again.

"Kids," Logan grunted with a shake of his head. He heard a ball being shot and hitting the wall to his right. A look behind him was enough to figure out who was responsible for the incident and two thirteen year old and identical looking boys looked at him sheepishly. "Be careful!"

"Sorry," they said at the same time and went to retrieve the ball.

"Ask yer mom if she needs help with anythin'," Logan said and watched them heading off to the back door. He was more than sure that Jean wasn't actually doing anything except for gushing over her granddaughter and spoiling the kid rotten.

A bit later everyone still sat together in groups, dinner already eaten, and they enjoyed the late afternoon sun and its warmth that it still spent. They were talking animatedly, exchanging stories that happened while they had been separated and updated their friends on their lives.

"So when do we head off?" Jack asked, looking at Jamie.

"The boys around nine. The girls around 10, I think."

"9:30 actually," Lily corrected him. "And hopefully we won't run into each!"

Jack huffed. "Hopefully, there won't be any stripper included," he said, looking at Isa meaningfully, but the woman gave him the same look back.

"Same for you. No stripper!"

He raised his hands quickly. "Hey, I didn't plan my bachelor party. I've no idea what the guys have in mind." He looked into the round. "Where's my best man actually?!"

Jamie's eyes searched the grounds but he didn't spot the person he was looking for either. "Hey, where's Jake?" he asked and noticed that he wasn't the only one who was absent all of a sudden. A sigh escaped his lips and he shook his head.

"He's not very subtle, is he?" Akihiro whispered into his direction.

"You noticed?" Jamie asked and his brother huffed.

"A blind man could see it. How long?"

Jamie shrugged. "I guess is started shortly after she arrived here. So mid March."

"Is it serious?"

"I don't know."

Akihiro nodded and got up.

"Where are you going?" Jean-Paul asked.

"He said we'll leave at 9, so I've got to get ready, sweetness," his husband replied nonchalantly.

Jean-Paul checked his watch. "It's 6:30…"

"Yeah. So I'm already running late." Akihiro smirked and headed inside.

The speedster shook his head with a groan. "I'm married to a diva…"

"You just figured that out?" Kitty asked.

Inside, Akihiro headed for one of the guest rooms as he spotted to people further down the corridor. He stopped at the corner and watched Jake checking his surroundings before he kissed the giggling redhead next to him deeply.

"We should go," Liv said into the kiss and gave him a gentle push. "They probably noticed already."

"So? Let'em," Jake replied and kissed her once more but let go of her next. "You go first."

She managed 3 meters before she turned back around. "You sure you guys will hit the same club we do?" she asked and he nodded.

"I checked Lily's bachelorette party notes."

Liv bit her lip, grinning and brushed her hair back. "Meet you at the back door?"

He grinned. "You bet."

Akihiro quickly dived into the guest room and closed the door behind him. So he'd been right and his younger brother tried to hide his affair with Tony Stark's daughter. He wondered if Jake knew how obvious their looks at each other actually were and that probably the whole team knew already anyway. Deciding that he couldn't care less, he headed for the shower to get ready.

"Everyone ready?" Logan asked and turned to look at the group behind him. It had been Jean's idea, of course, that he drove the bachelor party into the city so that all of them could party and no one had to play the driver. He had insisted that he was okay driving them to the city, but that he definitely would not get up in the early morning to get their wasted asses back to the mansion. So while he took the boys, Jean would drive the girls and even though he was annoyed, seeing how happy Jack looked warmed his heart. So after he got the okay from all of them, he turned the key and they were on their way. Next to him sat Jake, who was busy typing on his phone and who, as far as he had been told, was in charge of the whole party since he was Jack's chosen best man. Behind him sat Jamie next to Tommy, Jean-Luc and Alex, whereas Jack, Julian, Jean-Paul and Akihiro were sitting across from them and chatting away. After they were stuck in the car for a while, Jake suddenly told Logan to stop and the group got out of the car.

"Don't get too wasted!" Logan grunted and gave Jake a look, but his son only winked at him.

"Thanks, dad!" he said and off they were.

"So, where to?" Jack asked and Jake pointed down the street.

"Follow me," he smirked and led the way, winking at a group of girls that had noticed him.

They were headed to a bar first, played some pool and drank some shots before Jake led them to their first club. Inside a large crowed was dancing, drinking and heaving fun, so the group joined in on the fun.

In the meantime, the group of girls – Isa, TJ, Rachel, Laura and Isa's maid of honor, Lily – had been dropped off by Jean and was currently walking to their first destination.

"Thank you for letting me join on the fun," Liv smiled and had her arm linked with Laura, who was busy staring at all the lights.

"Sure," Isa smiled back and looked at Lily expectantly. "So, where are we headed?"

Lily grinned and came to a halt at a bar that had a huge neon sign on top of the door.

"Karaoke? Seriously?"

"Yep. And everyone will sing or I'll sue your asses off!" Lily said and entered, followed by the girls.

Logan slumped down on the couch next to Jean with a heavy sigh. "Sammy's finally sleepin' 'n the kids are in bed." He looked at the TV and the movie Jean was watching before he decided that her lap was a better way to rest in than simply leaning against the backrest. A sigh escaped his lips as she began to stroke through his hair absentmindedly. "When this is over, ya 'n me are gonna go on a trip. Someone else can babysit for a chance."

"Sounds good," Jean agreed. "Where to?"

"Don't care as long as it is alone!" His eyes were looking at the screen, watching the commercial and he suddenly smirked. "Preferably somewhere hot."

"Says the guy who loves the cold."

"Hot means less clothes for ya," he chuckled as she slapped his chest playfully. Sitting up, he pulled her into a kiss that soon got heated, so he pulled her into his lap next and let his hands roam freely. Their tongues fought for dominance, her hands wandered under his shirt and he was ready to carry her over to the bedroom, as…

He groaned. "Yer gotta be kiddin' me…," he grunted as the high-pitched wail became louder, but this time it was Jean who got up.

"It's just for the weekend, honey. Just try to remember that!" she sighed and he could tell that she felt as disappointed as he was.

"I'm tryin'. Ain't workin'!" he growled and switched off the TV, then headed for the bedroom. "Too much t'ask t'have some fun…" Pissed, he changed into sleeping wear and slipped into bed. His bad mood, however, was gone as soon as Jean entered with the four-month old baby on her arms that was still hiccupping from time to time. She looked good with a child, he thought, and smiled at the way she always seemed to glow at such a moment. After Sammy had stopped crying, Jean placed her in the middle of the bed and went to get ready for bed, leaving Logan to entertain his granddaughter. While she held on to his little finger, he became thoughtful.

"What's wrong?" Jean asked and slipped in next to him.

"Jus' thinkin'…"

"About what?"

"How fast everythin' happened…," he said without looking at her. "I mean… It feels like yesterday that ya were pregnant with the twins 'n now Jack's a father 'n is gettin' married."

Jean let out a heavy sigh. "I know. It's ridiculous how fast time went by…" She watched him interacting with their grandchild that was now peacefully sleeping, her hand still holding his finger. Jean smiled. "But I wouldn't change a thing."

Logan looked up and their eyes met. "Me neither." He smirked and kissed her softly. "'n I mean it, darlin'. As soon as the weddings over ya 'n me go on a trip. Alone!"

"I'm all in, honey," Jean agreed and kissed him once more before she switched off the lights with her powers.

Jake, a drink in his hand and his eyes focused on a group of dancing people in front of him, searched for his phone as he felt it vibrating in his pocket. He pulled it out of his jeans pocket and read the text, smirking and he put the drink aside.

"Where're you heading?" Jean-Paul asked slightly tipsy and nodded after Jake pointed into the direction of the rest rooms.

He first headed into that direction, but took a turn behind a pillar and aimed for the back door instead. Quickly, his eyes darted around to make sure no one was watching him, before he slipped through the door and smirked as two arms instantly found his waist.

"Hey, handsome," Liv smiled and pulled him into a kiss that he eagerly responded to. "Having fun?"

"Hm, you?" he asked and kissed her neck.

"Yeah. But more so now," she breathed and pulled his head back up to crush her lips against his. They kissed for a while, but her hand found his and she dragged him further into the dark alley with a suggestive smile on her lips.

Rachel's eyes grew wide as she spotted familiar faces in the crowd and her hand immediately grabbed Lily's arm. "Look!"

Lily followed her gaze and groaned. "What the hell?! Why are they here?!"

"Who is?" Laura and Isa asked.

"My twin, your future husband," Lily growled and crossed her arms. "Let's go somewhere else!"

Isa laughed and shook her head. "No way! We stay. They can go!" she said determined and aimed for Jack, who was currently joking around with Tommy and Jean-Luc. He froze immediately as he spotted her. "Hi, honey!" she smiled sweetly and crossed her arms.

"What are you doing here?!" he asked and put his drink away.

"I could ask you the same. Why…are you in the same club?"

"Because we came here first?"

"No?"

"Yes?"

"Prove it!" Laura said and joined the group with the other girls. "For how long are you already here?"

Jack checked his watch. "2.5 hours!" he smirked and frowned as she suddenly smirked back.

"2 hours 45 minutes and 56 seconds!"

"No way!" Tommy and Jean-Luc said and looked at Jack for help.

"We ain't leaving!" he said determined and crossed his arms.

"Who's leaving?" Akihiro asked and joined them, one arms draped around his husband and both more than tipsy.

"I'm not!" Jean-Paul chuckled and wrapped both arms around the feral's neck, kissing his neck. "Are you?"

"No?" Akihiro snickered and pulled him close.

Lily rolled her eyes. "This sucks. Where's your best man?"

Jack looked around and shrugged. "Don't know. Where are Jake and Jamie?"

"I'm here," Jamie suddenly said to his right and handed Tommy another beer. It was then that he spotted the girls. "Oh."

"Yes. Oh!" Isa said and sighed. She noticed that Jack looked her up and down. "What?"

"You wear this on your bachelorette party?" he asked and she began to glare.

"What's wrong with my outfit?" she demanded to know and looked down at herself. She was wearing a nice black skirt, not too short and not too long, black boots with heels and a tight green top. Her blonde hair was pinned up and her make up looked nice too.

He smirked and reached out to pull her closer. "Nothing," he said and leant in to whisper something into her ear that made her blush and giggle.

"Jerk," Isa playfully slapped his chest and hugged his middle, much to the surprise of everyone else.

"So…," Rachel began and looked at her sisters. "Does that mean we're staying?"

Laura shrugged. "It seems?" She watched Jack and Isa making out before she decided she could do the same if her boyfriend was here. Taking his hand, she dragged a surprised Julian over to the dancefloor and began to move to the rhythm.

Alex whistled and turned his head to smirk at Rachel, beckoning her to come over to him. Smiling back, she did so and he pulled her into a kiss before they too headed off to the dance floor.

Lily looked aside, seeing how Jean-Luc was busy flirting with another woman and she gave TJ a look that spoke volumes. "This sucks…"

"I know," her friend replied and crossed her arms.

"You know what?" Lily said after a while and took her by her arm. "I refuse to be the sad single that stands in a corner and watches couples dance. We're going to have fun. Period!"

TJ smiled at her. "You're damn right, sis!" she said and they headed to the dancefloor together next.

Two days later the garden was prepared for the big day. White chairs stood in front of a white wedding pergola, both decorated with white roses. A carpet of white petals led the way to the aisle where Kurt was already waiting and Ororo was shoo the last grey clouds away until the sun remained. The seats were taken and Logan smirked at Jean, who was wiping her eyes again.

"It hasn't even started yet, darlin'," he teased her and handed her another tissue.

"I know," she snobbed and blew her nose.

He chuckled and got up to hug Jack, who arrived with his best man Jake and looked nervous as hell. "Ya alright, kid?"

"No?" Jack muttered and pulled on the collar of his white dress shirt. "I think I'll need to puke…"

Jake rolled his eyes. "Again?"

"Oh shut up, jerk!"

"Bitch!" Jake returned the favor and slapped Jack's hands away before he made sure the collar sat correctly again. "And before you ask again. YES, I have the rings and your vows and everything else needed. God, you are such a pussy!"

Jack glared at him. "I'll so get back to you at your own wedding, dude!"

Jack snorted. "Yeah, have fun waiting because that will never happen!" He gave him a push towards the front and rolled his eyes at Jamie since Jack was driving him nuts.

"He looks great," Jean sniffed and hugged Logan's arm after he had sat down again, sobbing quietly into his arm. All Logan could do was shaking his head, chuckling. It had been the same during Jamie's wedding and it would also be the same during Rachel's. He smiled at said redhead when she sat down next to him, Sammy on her arm.

"Isa looks amazing," she whispered towards her parents and soon Laura sat down next to her, followed by two identical twin boys.

"She just vomited," Laura waved off and Logan cocked an eyebrow at her directness.

"She's nervous," Jean sniffed and wiped her eyes. She looked to her right where Rogue and Remy sat next to each other and she was glad that Rogue was the same mess she was. Their son was seated next to his father and handing his mother another tissue. She looked up at the music started to play and everyone got up.

Isa was wearing a long dress that was tight on top and wide from her hip downwards. Her long blonde hair was pinned up, a few strands, slightly curled, falling down and she looked simply amazing. Bobby led her down the aisle towards a more than stunned Jack, who stared at her in awe and completely mesmerized. When they reached the front Bobby handed his daughter over to Jack after hugging her once more and smiled at his soon-to-be son in law before he sat down next to Rogue and heaved a deep breath. To him it seemed like yesterday that his little girl had been born.

Jean practically clawed at Logan's arm as Kurt began the ceremony and her sobbing got even worse as the bride and groom said their vows – Isa's making the guests laugh as she reminded Jack once more what an ass he had been towards her during his teens. Logan had to put an arm around her to make it easier for her to sob into his chest when Kurt announced that Jack could now kiss his wife and, while everyone cheered and clapped their hands she was sure that Logan had just wiped a tear away and was trying to hide that he was on the same emotional rollercoaster than she was.

They partied until late at night and Jack told his parents that their honeymoon had to wait until Sammy was at least a year old. Both parents didn't want to be separated from their daughter for too long while she was still just a couple of months old. The wedding night was theirs alone though and Logan grudgingly – not seriously of course – agreed to watch over his granddaughter again. As Jack and Isa called it a night, Jake being so nice to tell them to keep it down, they arrived at their bedroom and groaned in unison. Their friends had blown up hundreds of balloons and thrown around caps and corks so that they had to tidy up first before they could actually reach the bed, which was covered in red roses and rose petals with a huge heart on top that read Newly Weds. "That was Jake's idea," Jack grumbled and used his claws on the balloons.

"Of course," Isa sighed and glared at the broom that that leant against the wall next to the door and had a post-it attached to it that had a huge winking smiley on it. "Yes, definitely Jake…"

"I swear if he ever gets married, I'll give him hell!"

"You know that he'll never get married," Isa said and began to tidy up the floor and get rid of all the corks and caps. "He's hellbent on it."

"Yeah," Jack sighed and made short work of most of the balloons until there was a path to the bed. He then kicked some of the litter on the ground aside and let himself fall on the bed, propped up on his elbows. He watched how Isa put the broom aside and came closer. He smirked and wiggled his eyebrows. "So what's my beautiful wife wearing underneath her awesome gown?" he asked and she put her hands to her hips with a devilish smile.

"Something that will make you go weak in the knees, honey," Isa replied and reached out for him to take her hand and pull her on top of him.

As Jake awoke on the next late morning he stretched and found his right arm occupied. Blinking, he looked down and smirked as Liv was cuddled up next to him, both naked and their legs entwined around each other. He reached out to brush her red hair back and she stirred, her eyes slowly opening.

"Hey, she said and yawned.

"Hey yourself," he greeted and pulled her into a kiss. "Slept well?"

"Mhm," she made and ran her hands through his hair. "Still tired though."

"Oh," he faked pity. "Didn't get enough sleep?"

"No, thanks to you," Liv teased him back and grinned as he kissed her again. Soon, however, she became serious. "I'll do it today."

Jake frowned at her in confusion while she straddled him and ran her hands down his chest. "Do what?"

"I'll go back home and break it off with Damian," she admitted and looked up to see his reaction. "He's an asshole and I don't love him." Liv brushed her hair back and still kept her eyes on his, trying to read his thoughts. He just looked back at her in silence, his face unreadable. "I love you. The past months with you have been the best of my life. So, I will sort this out and come back in two days. Could you say something, please?" she begged since she felt sick and nervous as hell, but Jake shook his head. "Is that a no?"

Instead of replying he sat up and kissed her softly. "No, I won't say anything," he smiled and hugged her close, covering her neck with kisses. "Do you want me to come with you?" he asked as she got up and headed towards the bathroom.

"No, I need to do this alone," Liv smiled. "But…I definitely need company in the shower." She winked and he instantly followed her.

Much later on the next day a group sat together casually, the TV blaring in the background and wine and beer on the table. The topic was the wedding, Jake teasing his overly emotional brother lovingly and Jack throwing chips back at him in return. They hardly noticed when the news came on with a huge announcement and it wasn't before Jake turned and his face fell that the rest noticed something was wrong. He was sure he was dreaming and that the news were a joke, but the more he read the headline, the less the words seemed to change. When a picture appeared next to the news anchorman he suddenly felt sick, as if someone had punched him into the gut and all air had left his body. This couldn't be real or true. He didn't hear how Jamie spoke to him or touched him. His eyes were solely focused on the picture and the news underneath it. As reality hit him hard he got up and left the room quickly, slamming the door shut behind him.

"What the hell?!" Rachel asked and looked at Jamie for help, who looked angry. "What's this about?"

"Why didn't she tell us that she would get married?" Lily asked and turned from the screen to the group. "Liv could have said something."

"And why is Jake so angry?" Tommy asked and Akihiro huffed.

"Please. Don't tell me you didn't notice!" he mocked and stared at them in disbelief. He figured that Jamie knew. His pissed off face spoke volumes. "They had an affair. And my guess is dear Liv kept it a secret that she was about to get married today."

Without another word Jamie got up and tried to find his brother. As he found his room empty, but the leather jacket and car keys gone, he sprinted towards the garage. He was too late though and only saw the backlights of Jake's car disappearing through the gate…

I hope you liked it. Please leave a review and thanks to all of you that I can't get back to for leaving one. You're awesome! : ) See you soon!
