"You get the hell out of those! Go on, shoo!"

Kolyat ducked, cradling the small vase of flowers to his chest, as Peep snapped a towel at his rear. "But they're starting to wilt!"

She stuck her hands on her hips. "Don't gimme that crap! I just put them out here not more than two hours ago!"

"Come on. Just one?" he wheedled, fingers lingering over one white blossom, ready to pluck.

Peep pointed at the small end table with a scowl. "No, you put them down and get! They're for looking, not eating!"

Kolyat set the flowers down, but hovered over them, eyes darting back and forth between them and Peep. "Not even a little one? It's not like you'd be able to tell."

"Oh, my god. No." She flapped the towel at him. "Go find something else to eat if you're hungry!"

Kolyat hesitated.

Peep narrowed her eyes. "Don't even think about it, buster."

Eventually Kolyat backed down, and Peep nodded, moving to the side to let him pass. But, just as he took a step forward, he feinted and snatched up a handful of blooms, knocking over the entire arrangement in his haste. As Peep dove to catch the vase, Kolyat bolted for the kitchen.

"Goddammit, Kolyat!" Peep roared. "You get your ass back here and put those back right now!"

Kolyat stuffed a carnation in his mouth and ripped the stem off. He pitched it at her over his shoulder. "Here you go!"
