Epilogue – Little Miracles
"Lord Potter we need your assistance," Amelia Bones said from her position in the green flames burning in his fireplace.
Harry turned to face her while rolling his eyes. "What has happened now Amelia?" he asked. She only ever bothered him with things like these when they truly needed help – unlike some – so he wasn't too annoyed with it.
"We have found a fraction of Death Eaters, but the wards are impressive. We could get a hold of a ward-breaker but it would take time. Time I'm not certain we have," Amelia explained.
Harry sighed. He looked over to the door. Link was out with the horses they owned. The old Potter manor had burned when his grandparents were killed but the ground still belonged to him. Harry and Link had built their home with the goblins help. They had gotten exactly what they wanted. The house was big but not insanely so and they had big grounds with horses and hippogriffs and once in a while a griffin couple would stop by with their young. "I'll be right over I just need to let Link know first. What are the apparition coordinates?" He asked the gray-haired woman.
After being handed the coordinates, Harry walked out of the house. He took a deep breath. It was a beautiful day. He found the blond standing with a brown mare petting her. "Hey love," he said as he wrapped his arms around his lover.
"Hey, you finally going to join me?" Link asked. He grabbed Harry's hand and pulled the raven up in front of him before kissing him soundly.
When they broke up Harry was smiling. "Sorry I can't Amelia called they need my help," he said apologetically.
Link sighed. "Oh, well then I guess that Maya and I will have to go on our own," he said. "Don't do anything stupid." He sat op on the mare.
"See you later," Harry said. He shimmered and shadowed away.
…
Taking down the wards was tricky but Harry managed soon enough. He watched as the aurors swarmed the building. He was technically done now but for some reason he didn't think it was a good idea to leave just yet.
When one of the aurors had come out with a screaming two-year-old looking at her like she was a devils spawn, Harry understood why he'd stayed. He walked forward and relieved the man of the child, holding her close. It hadn't taken him long to realise that she was hungry. He had called one of his house-elves and asked for something toddler friendly.
The creature had poped away only to return minutes later.
Once the girl was full she brightened up. She was gurgling and talking in half words and sentences when a witch from child cervices had walked up to them. The woman had been contacted as soon as they had found the child. She held out her hands for the little girl.
Harry looked down at the girl. She gurgled at him again. Her little hands where fisted into his long raven locks that he'd left down that day. "I'll just come with you Ma'am. She doesn't seem like she wants to let go," he said.
The woman's brows furrowed but in the end she agreed.
They arrived at the Ministry Child-cervices office moments later.
Harry smiled down at the little girl when she tugged at his hair. "You shouldn't do that honey it isn't nice," he said and pulled his hair out off her hand. He rubbed her cheek and shifted her as he sat down.
The girls brown eyes teared. She sniffed and then she was crying.
Harry shook his head and smiled at her. He sat her down in his lap and held out his hands in front of her. He concentrated on his magic and then a small purple bunny materialised before her.
The girl stopped crying and stared at the creature. "Wha's it?" she asked.
"It is a bunny sweetheart," Harry told her.
"Bunnie."
Harry laughed.
"Buifull," the little girl said, her eyes wide.
"Yes it is little one," a woman had come over.
The girl turned to her and her eyes widened before they started tearing once more. "No hurt," she said. "Me be good," she whispered and moved on Harry so she could grab his shirt.
"Shhhshh, don't worry sweetie. I've got you," Harry said softly. He pulled her up so she could bury her face in the crook of his neck. He looked up at the woman. "A Calming or Sleeping Draught might be good if you need to examine her," he suggested.
She nodded, disappeared for a moment and came back with a vial filled with a clear liquid.
Harry held his hand out and she gave him the potion. He uncorked the vial and sniffed the potion. His brows narrowed and he asked, "Who made this?"
The woman raised an eyebrow. "The Ministry employed Potion Master, why?" she said.
"It is a Sleeping Draught but it contains more Valerian than it should. This could kill her because she's so young," he said. "I would know I received my Mastery with honours a couple of months ago. "Did you tell the Potion Master who the potion was for?"
She snorted. "Of course I did. I told him that it was for a girl around two years old. She was found with the Death Eaters that were taken in…"
Harry growled. "Where is the Potion Master?" he hissed angrily. He moved the girl closer and tried to reel his magic in. He noticed the scared look on her face and centred himself. He pulled a phone out of his pocket and scrolled down his contacts. He pressed call and placed the speaker against his ear.
"Severus speaking."
"Hey Severus its Harry," the raven said.
"Harry? You know I busy with…"
"Yes Severus I know but I'm at the Ministry and their residing Potion Master just tried to administer a Sleeping Draught with extra Valerian to a two year old," Harry cut the man off. He could almost feel Severus rage through the phone.
"I'll deal with it. Don't let that vial or the child out of your sight," the man said coldly.
…
"She's lucky you were here, Harry," Severus said. "That potion would have knocked her liver out completely." He watched the raven move the little girl into a more comfortable position. The girl had fallen asleep some time ago. He could see the care in the raven's eyes as he looked at the child.
The girl had been through a scan a few moments ago but both Harry and Severus, who had arrived with a children's sleeping draught, had noticed the way they looked at the girl.
"I don't understand," Harry said quietly. "She's just a little child. How can they look at her like that? She can't help who her parents are. It is just as bad as they way Pure-bloods have been acting around those born to non-magical parents for generations."
Severus sighed. He understood the underlying reasons but that didn't make it O.K. "They need someone to blame and she's to small to fight back," he said.
"That is not why we took care of Voldemort. So that people could start acting like this," Harry said. He walked up to one of the women. "Excuse me miss," he said politely.
She looked up at him her maroon eyes widening as she saw his lightning bolt scar. "Oh, Lord Potter, how can I help you?" she asked and looked down at the child in the raven's arms. "Oh my," she said. "I can take care of that if you'd like Lord Potter there is no need for…"
Harry's magic had leaped out and silenced her. He didn't like the look in her eyes as she looked at the girl. "I was wondering how to petition for an adoption miss?" he asked.
"Ah, Lord Potter you would like to adopt," a man stepped out of a room nearby.
"Yes I'd like…"
"There are several children available right now. Would you like a blond or maybe a raven? A boy or a girl? I'm sorry we can't find one with your eye colour it is rather uncommon you see…"
"I was thinking more along the lines of this young lady here," Harry cut him off and raised the girl he was holding up a bit.
"Ah, surely there are better children with well frankly better background than her," the man sneered at the girl.
Harry was glad she was asleep right now. He was starting to get really angry with the man. Like her genetics mattered at all to him. He and Link would be adopting her properly if they did this.
As if conjured by the raven's thoughts strong arms wrapped around his waist. "So that is her huh?" Link whispered in his ear. "Severus told me what was going on. He thought you might need someone to ground you before you simply killed these idiots."
Harry sighed contently and leaned back. "Severus is a smart man," he said. Then he looked down at the girl. "And yes that is her. I'm worried about what will happen to her if she's left here, and we were talking about adopting."
Link chuckled. "Yeah, I know," he said and looked down at the girl. "She really seems to like you at least."
"She's got problems with women but I think that living with us and getting to know Luna and Ginny and Emelle will fix most of that," Harry said. He was smiling down at the sleeping toddler.
Link lad turned them around so he was facing his lover. He smiled at the look in the emerald eyes. He couldn't resist so he leaned in and kissed the raven's rosy lips. "You're beautiful," he whispered against Harry's mouth.
The raven laughed. "Let's go find someone who will actually take this seriously shall we," he said.
…
The adoption ritual had take place two days later. The circles had been drawn and runes painted. Harry was very careful to get it right. He didn't want anything to happen to their daughter. The ritual was in essence the same one that Salazar and he had used. There were some major differences. The girl would be too young to agree to the ritual and as such there was an oath taken by the parents to protect and guide the child. Harry's magic had made certain Salazar would treat him right, but their daughter's magic wasn't strong enough yet so there had to be some compensation for that. The oath was that compensation. Now their own magic would handle things if they tried to cause her harm in any way.
Link sat down on his knees. He as the sire or father was the one to oversee the entire thing. He looked over at Harry a bit nervous. The raven sat like him on his knees in the circle that Salazar had once told him was reserved for the mother.
"Don't worry Link everything will work out," Harry said.
Link took a deep breath and then he looked over at the girl, who was smiling shyly at him. She had taken quite well to him once she'd woken up. It had been one of the major reasons the Child-Care lady had agreed to let them adopt the girl. The little one was clinging to Harry but when Link reached over she had eyed him for exactly three seconds before jumping at him with a giggle.
Link took a deep breath and then he started the ritual.
It was humid and warm.
The sun was shining brightly.
Harry and Link were lying on a beach on New Zealand with their soon to be eight year old daughter. She was building a sand castle her blond hair wet from her latest swim.
A few days ago they had asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she had answered, "I want a little brother or sister."
The two of them had sat there in shock for a moment before they had started laughing. They had been talking about getting more children for some time now.
"Well see what we can do honey," Link chuckled in Hylian.
Saria had smiled brightly at him before she finally managed to drag her parents up and forced them back into the water. She was having loads of fun swimming from Link to Harry and back again splashing water at them.
When they had first come up wit the idea to go abroad it had taken them a while to decide where to go but in the end they had chosen New Zealand because the Lord of the Rings movies had been filmed there and Harry had just loved the nature of the movies. He had wanted to see it for himself. They had travelled around a lot and were nearing the end of their stay. They had travelled non-magical and as such no one in New Zealand knew they were magical.
…
It was late in the evening. Harry was sitting awake. He didn't know why but he couldn't sleep for some reason. He looked out through the window and then back at his sleeping husband and daughter. He relaxed his tense muscles. And as he went through a set of exercises taught to him by the Sheikah, he could feel a magic spike in the distance. He opened his eyes and just moments later there was an explosion. He watched for a moment longer until he noticed that the fire from the explosion was spreading way to fast to be natural. It was coming their way.
"Link!" he roared waking both sleeping blonds up.
"Wha…s it Harry?" Link yawn.
"There is fire coming our way and it is spreading like you used Din's fire," the raven said. He was changing their daughter's clothes before he packed their belongings with a wave of his hand. He lifted Saria up and walked out into the corridor of the hotel pulling the fire alarm as he went. It didn't take Link long to join up with him.
The blond was handed their child and Harry hurried his pace. They made it out of the hotel and Link got his first look at the fire. It was massive. Harry had been right it looked like he had used Din's fire.
"It is caused by magic. It has to be stopped now or everyone here will be engulfed," Harry said. He knew that he would be using magic so non-magicals could see but there was little he could do about that. Or… his eyes narrowed. He turned his head to the sea. If he made it look like a tsunami it would be much easier for the Magical government to cover it up. He turned to Link. "It is going to get very wet real soon," he said. The earth beneath their feet rumbled lightly.
A tsunami could be built up far out at sea and the earthquakes weren't necessarily felt where the waves hit later. Harry pulled in a deep breath. He was glad that his most advanced element was water-based. He kneeled down and closed his eyes. Pulling this much water was not going to be easy for him.
He let out a roar as he pulled with his magic.
Once
Twice
"Third time it is," he muttered. He pulled again.
Link's eyes widened. He watched as the sea rose. It held for just a second before it flowed out over the part of town they were in. Unbeknown to the non-magicals the water was concentrated on the fire. It sizzled as it hit the thick flames but there was too much water for the flames to steam up. Hopefully no one would notice that the water seemed to cling to wherever there was fire. He turned back to Harry.
The raven's eyes were glowing faintly and he blinked and the glow was gone. But so was Harry's strength. He collapsed seconds later and Link who was still holding Saria didn't have a chance to catch him.
"Harry!" he cried as fell down on his knees next to his husband.
"Papa!" Saria shouted. Tears filled her jade eyes and she buried her face in her papa's shirt.
Link placed his fingers against his lover's pulse. It was beating strongly so Harry was Okay physically. Magically was a different question all together. He looked up from the raven and looked around. At least the fire had died out. He sighed. Harry would need medical attention of the magical kind. "Come on honey let go off papa so I can lift him up. We need to find him a Healer," he told his daughter softly.
Saria let go slowly. She stood up next to her dad and sniffed, her eyes were still filled with tears and her nose was running. She wiped the snot of on her sleeve.
Link grabbed his husband and lifted him up. "Why do you always have to do this to me?" he asked quietly. He made certain that Saria held on to him before he started walking.
People were running back and forth. Some Link recognised as Firefighters other must be medical personnel but they didn't have any magic.
He walked closer to the centre of the chaos. Harry had said that the fire was magical so chances were that he'd find someone to ask were he could find a Healer was greater in there. He passed through a ward without really thinking about it.
"Eh excuse me sir but this area is closed off," a man said as he came walking up to them. "I don't know how you got in here but," as the man spoke he was pulling a wand out, "it would be better if you…"
"Don't you hurt daddy!" Saria cried. She had thrown the man back and his wand had clattered down by Link's feet.
"You can't Obliviate me sir," the blond man said as his eyes narrowed. "My mind shields won't allow it and my husband would be very angry with you if you now against all odds did manage. But if you want to deal with a pissed-off Harry Potter then by all means try again." He knew that even this far away from Britain his husband's name held some power.
The man's eyes widened and he swallowed thickly as he realised that the man the blond was holding was most likely THE Harry Potter.
"What on Earth is going on over here Jenkins? Who are these people?" another man had made his way over.
Jenkins turned to the man and stuttered something unintelligible.
"What is wrong with you man speak up," the man, who Link was pretty certain was Jenkins boss, said.
"Sir," Link said catching the man's attention. "I believe what Jenkins here is trying to say is that this," he shifted the raven in his arms, "is Harry Potter, but he isn't making much sense."
"Harry Potter," the man thought about it for a moment the name sounded familiar. Then it hit him. "You wouldn't be able to tell us what happened here then?" he asked giving the blond a pointed look.
Link shrugged and told the man as much as he knew.
"Well at least he had some foresight when he threw water all over the place. He didn't do very much damage and we weren't getting anywhere with that fire," the man sighed. "I guess he's magically exhausted," he said and motioned to Harry.
Link nodded. "I was trying to find a Healer. We're just here for vacation and we came in non-magically for obvious reasons so I have no idea were to look for a magical hospital," he said.
"Well we'll get you a Healer shall we then," the man said. He turned around and shouted, "Carmen, get your ass over here you have a patient."
"Shesh, Lloyd there is no need to scream at me," a silver-haired woman said as she came walking up to them. She stopped in front of Link and looked down at the raven in his arms. "You know him," she asked rudely.
"He's my husband," Link answered calmly. He couldn't afford getting upset now or poor Saria would break down.
The woman muttered something else. "Come on over here and place him down," she said as she led them over to a stretcher.
"Carmen get over here there are children in here," a woman shouted.
"Wait just a moment his condition isn't life threatening, and I can bring all of them back to the Hospital at the same time," Carmen said briskly.
Link nodded slowly and lifted little Saria up. With all the excitement going on and the fact that it was early in the morning, she was almost falling asleep where she stood, leaning against his legs.
The woman, Carmen, came back holding a small bundle in her arms. She placed it down on top of Harry's chest carefully before turning around. An auror had followed her with a boy no older than three. His clothes were ripped and his skin bruised and some of those bruises were in the later healing stages.
She placed him down on Harry as well before simply port-keying them out of there.
Link blinked in shock as they disappeared. 'Great,' he thought, 'how am I going to find them now? Saria is going to be hysteric when she wakes up.' He shifted the sleeping girl's body around so she'd be more comfortable.
…
It took Link almost three days to figure out where they had hidden the Hospital. He was starting to get highly irritated and his daughter was angry – not with him but with the people who took her papa away. The blond hoped that Harry was doing alright. With his record he'd be awake and highly annoyed at the Healers by now.
Link and his daughter walked in to the Hospital reception area. The father looked around for the reception desk. Once he'd found it he grabbed his daughter and lifted her up. "Come on let's go find out where Harry is," he said.
Saria nodded, her jade eyes cold.
Link stepped into the line leading up to the reception desk and wondered why they only had one person working there. It was the same at St Mungo's. They really should get more than one person sitting in the reception when it was busy.
When they finally made their way up to the witch she barely glanced at them before saying, "Third floor to the right."
"Excuse me miss," Link said politely but with an edge of steel, "but you don't even know why we're here."
The woman looked up and blinked surprised. She looked at him for a moment. "I'm sorry sir. I assumed that you were here for because of you daughter," she said professionally.
"Apology accepted. I would like to know where Harry Potter is located. He was brought in at about two in the morning three days ago," Link said.
The receptionist looked down at her scrolls for a moment. "Relationship?" she asked.
"He's my husband," Link answered.
"Second floor, Room 2e13" the receptionist told him.
Link gave her a nod. "Thank you," he said.
Saria huffed. "They are stupid," she said.
Link chuckled. "Maybe but you know what papa says."
"Don't tell people they are stupid they won't like it and it isn't nice even if it is true," Saria said smiling.
Link shook his head and smiled at her. He was still carrying her mostly because he didn't want to lose her in the crowd.
"10
11
12," Saria counted.
"Oh for heavens sake woman I'm fine but if you don't stop that right now you might need to rebuild this part of the Hospital."
Link smiled down at his daughter. "You want to go in there and stop your papa from blowing the place up, honey?" he asked.
Saria smiled and jumped down from her dad's hip. She snuck into the room and up behind her fuming papa. She crouched down and at just the right moment she jumped. Arms wrapped around her waist and she was pulled into a hug. She turned her head and looked into her papa's green eyes. "One day I'm going to manage," she said.
Harry chuckled. "I'm sure you will sweetheart, I'm sure you will. What did you do to your dad hmmm? Left him behind somewhere?" he asked.
Saria rolled her eyes. "Papa," she whined. Then there was a cry from behind the raven and the young blond climbed up higher on him. There were two children laying in one of the beds. The youngest one had just woken up.
Harry turned around; he walked up to the bed and placed Saria down before picking the baby up. "Shshh, I got you baby. Don't cry," he said as he rocked the boy. He sent a spell that changed the little ones nappy. He looked over at the Healer still in the room. "He'll need a bottle now. Why don't you do something useful instead of standing there fawning over me," he told her. His patience with her had run out a long time ago. If she would just act like she was supposed to with her patients he wouldn't care even if he might get a bit annoyed. She had been switching between treating him like an unruly child and drooling over his name. And then she had the nerve to insinuate that he didn't know anything about kids.
Noooo, it wasn't like he and Link didn't have a daughter of their own and babysat both Neville and Luna's kids as well as Draco and Ginny's son.
"Poor woman what has she done to you love?" Link asked from where he stood near the door.
Harry turned and the blond could see the relief in those green orbs. Then they went steely, and Harry told his husband exactly what the woman had done.
Link walked forward as his husband spoke. He looked at the child in the raven's arms and then down at the boy on the bed. He realised that it was the same children that had travelled to the Hospital with Harry. "So they placed the kids with you and then just left them here?" he asked.
Harry, who had been cooing at the baby in his arms, looked up at the blond. He snorted. "Its more like my magic would let them take the children away from here. It still goes a bit haywire when they try…" he trailed off. Then he looked up at the blond with big pleading eyes.
Link groaned. He looked over at his daughter, who copied her papa almost immediately. He closed his eyes and turned his face skywards. "Well Saria did want siblings for her birthday," he said. He didn't really have anything against it. He loved Saria and he had a hard time believing that he wouldn't love these two as well. He was attacked as soon as the words left his mouth. The arms around him where tight but Harry was being careful not to harm the child in his arms.
"Well I do hope that this means we have a permanent home for these two," Carmen said as she walked into the room.
Harry laughed as she handed him a bottle for the baby.
"Yes it would seem that way Ma'am," Link said.
