SonicANIME2010 here, bringing in another chapter to Knight of the Night Sky. Apologies for the lengthy hiatus between chapters.. Community college classes are back and I find myself limited in time once again. At any rate, the story shall go on. One other note, the previous chapter, I just noticed, marked the 50th in this story alone.. Not bad for a story that was originally a "spin-off" of sorts. Anyways, here we go.

Just about a day had come and past since the capture and interrogation of Rouge the Bat, everything went on as normal as they could get with the young mages. The teen bat was allowed to look around the ship but was not allowed to leave, and even if she was, she had no knowledge of how to leave the ship, so the point was moot.

While Rouge was allowed to explore, she did just that, some of the sights she saw, however, were soon on the list of things she'd much rather forget. Through some circumstance that if she was asked later, she'd first say she was set up for, the bat somehow found herself in the training room of the large ship, where she watched what was, at least to the mages, a "normal" training session. For Rouge, it was anything but normal.

She had some lingering suspicion that the people she was dealing with had some power, but nothing like she saw in that training room. Not only did they use some energy called "mana", which to Rouge was summarized down to flashes of light that blow up stuff, they were skilled in weapons too. The human girls were able to wield staves and polearms that looked to be taller than them with ease. The blue hedgehog was trading sword blows with another woman wielding a sword, and though she could tell that they were all learning, they were still a force to be reckoned with.

Her tour took her to some technological department, where she saw a couple of ladies clad in lab coats working on some machines. They were well beyond her comprehension, so she didn't bother trying to ask.

Probably the most normal part of her tour was the mess hall. Going into the cafeteria, the bat had thought because of the whole "outer space" bit, she'd have to eat some strange space food or something. She was greeted with an actually nice surprise when the special lunch for the day was Japanese Takoyaki.

Her temporary stateroom, which was a small bedroom quarters onboard the ship, marked the end of her tour. She clad herself in a pajama outfit that her "hosts" were so kind to provide her with, seeing as it wouldn't be too comfortable (or appropriate for the younger ones) that she'd sleep in her jumpsuit or less than such. Little did she know what the next day would bring

Sonic: Knight of the Night Sky
Chapter 51
TSAB's move on Earth

[TSAB Investigative Ship "Arthra"]
[BGM: "Inflexible Determination" FFX ost]

A loud series of short burst alarms rang out through the ship. Rouge, in a bit of annoyance from the rude awakening and confusion for the current situation, tossed on her jumpsuit and left the stateroom to see what was going on.

To her surprise, when the bat left her room she saw the other kids from yesterday at the end of the hallway, almost as if they were waiting for her, which they were. Seeing that as a good chance to get some answers, Rouge walked up to them.

"Alright, what's going on?" the bat asked

"Looks like they've arrived." Reinforce noted, observing the alarms, "A little bit ahead of schedule, however.."

"A little?" Sonic quipped, "We just woke up and they're knocking on the door."

"Who?" Rouge asked, completely lost in the situation, and who could blame her.

"You'll find out soon" Reinforce answered, "Come on, we'll grab a quick breakfast and then meet the Admiral, you're to come with us."

"Hai.." the bat sighed, as much as she hated being ordered around, for the moment she would have to live with it, "If anything this will give me some answers."

"More than that.." Reinforce added, "It could question loyalties.. and if you're really on the right side."

"Huh?" Rouge just blinked, confused, but before she could get any elaboration, the mages turned and headed for the mess hall. Seeing the message clear, she followed them.

[Hangar]
[Half-hour later]
[BGM: "Launch" FFX OST]

As ordered from their respected and kind admiral, the youth mages had a quick breakfast and met up with the woman just outside the hangar. She also looked like she recently had something to eat for breakfast.

"Thank you for making the effort to join me on time" Lindy said to the mages, "Sorry if this came a bit early for everyone, because even I'm surprised by the timing."

"I thought they told you they'd arrive by the afternoon." Nanoha noted, "Because that's what you told us"

"That is what they told me" the teal-haired Admiral rubbed her eyes a bit, "But earlier they called and reported that they were less than an hour out"

"They must have been going faster than they thought" Sonic noted, "or they didn't calculate the distance right or something"

"From here to Mid-Childa's probably around 2 days of flight" Lindy thought out loud, "Though it also depends on how fast the ship you're in."

"Admiral.." Reinforce addressed the woman in a cautionary tone, just to get her back to the situation at hand.

"Right, Gomen, Reinforce" Lindy scratched the back of her head a bit in embarrassment, "Anyways.. While these people are here, everyone is to be on their best behavior… yes that includes you too Hayate-chan."

"Why must you single me out?" Hayate playfully put on a pouty expression, "I'm not that bad"

"Whatever you say.." the admiral countered, her attention turned to the bat in the jumpsuit, "And that goes for you too, no thievery.. you're here on probation, don't mess it up."

"Hai.." The bat sighed in defeat, knowing that the woman probably wasn't bluffing.

Lindy pressed a few buttons on a control panel next to the door into the hangar. The door opened to allow the group to go inside.

Parked just next to the also-docked Tornado II was a small cruiser type ship, light blue and purple in color and bearing the insignia of the Time-Space Administration. The back hatch opened up quickly and many uniformed mages filed out. Standing at attention, they acted as guards until the people inside the ship climbed out. The main "Guests" were 3 "elderly" of age individuals.

Lindy recognized them as the three Admirals, Midget Crowbel, Largo Kiel and Leone Phils. All three of them were dressed in attire fitting for not only the position they held, but also of their respective forces. Midget Crowbel was the "Bureau Chief of Staff" and thus she wore a white and dark blue uniform with a dark purplish bow in her silverish hair; Largo, the balding man with the grey beard, was the "Honorary Marshal of the Armed Forces" and wore a blue uniform; finally Leone, an individual with graying blonde hair cut short and spiky, was known as the "Judicial Advisor" indicated with his dark brown and black uniform.

The youngest admiral bowed in the upmost respect for the elders. Not wanting to make a bad impression by showing disrespect, the others with her, aside from Rouge, who had no idea what was going on; all joined her in bowing to show respect.

"Welcome aboard the Arthra" Lindy said politely in greeting, "We are honored to be in your presence"

"You don't need to be so polite" Admiral Crowbel simply waved off the greeting, "We all know each other"

"uh hello.." Rouge waved, "Helpless damsel held against her will here?"

"Material Witness" Leone countered, holding what looked like a sheet of paper, "This is an order showing it. Signed and approved"

"Witness for what?" The bat inquired

"Suspicion of Espionage for the G.U.N" the older admiral answered a bit casually almost.

"Espionage?" Rouge asked, sure she knew what the term, but how it applied to what GUN was having her doing.

"You were used to spy on our "operations". You were operating under GUN's orders." Leone explained, "So it's either accessory or material witness. Take your pick."

"Material Witness" Rouge took the easier option; accessory would have her face the same charges as the GUN could stand to face. The Material Witness angle would force her to stay with the people of obvious authority that have captured her, but at least she would be safe and not have to face charges.

"Normally the choice isn't given" Leone noted, "Don't mess it up."

"H-hai" the bat sweatdropped a bit, she was officially scared of the group that held her captive.

"Let's get down to business" Admiral Crowbel decided to change the topic, moving on to the more important situation at hand, "If you'll lend us your situation room?"

[Situation Room]
[No BGM]

The admirals, mages, and of course the "prisoner" gathered in the situation room to discuss the upcoming plans.

The older admiral trio were quick to establish that their ideal goal to accomplish by the end of their short visit was to announce the Bureau's presence to civilians and from there, establish a branch for the TSAB.

A plan was set for the admirals to make such an announcement for the next day. The only trouble involved getting not just the public's attention, but the attention of leaders from other countries. That matter was quickly resolved, by surprisingly Rouge the Bat, who revealed that she knew from her connection in G.U.N that the summit for the leaders of the free world was scheduled for that same day; and by coincidence, and a few lucks of the draw, Japan was picked as the nation to host the summit. She informed them that she also knew where and when the summit would occur because the GUN had asked her to scout out the place as a little "kiss up" to the Japanese government when she was already on location.

Lindy approved of her idea quickly; the other admirals were also quick to agree. The next issue was the G.U.N; they weren't so certain that everything from that safe house has been analyzed and figured that a second look would help solve that. The younger mages, specifically Sonic and Nanoha, who were the first to discover the safe house, informed the admirals that the landlady who owns the complex the GUN used for the safe house, had agreed to keep the apartment open to them until they were finished.

The plan was set and it was a matter of time before it could begin.
