Wedding Planning
Characters: Saki Hyuuga, Mai Mishou, Michiru and Kaoru Kiryuu
Summary: It started with a simple question.
"Do you suppose spirits have weddings?"
The other three girls glanced up from their studies, eyes looking towards Saki. Blinking, Mai set down her pencil for the moment, tilting her head. "What brings this up, Saki?"
"Well, I was just wondering." Saki said, pushing herself up. She had pretty much given up on her math homework and had resolved herself to idly tapping her pencil on the desk when the thought had popped in her head. "You know, like the other day Inori mentioned that their fairy Tarte has a fiancee?"
"Now that you mention it, I do recall that..." Mai trailed off. "We've never met her though."
"Were you perhaps thinking of Flappy and Choppy?" Kaoru ventured, tucking her pencil into her assignment book to mark her place. She got the feeling that they wouldn't be resuming their studies at any time soon- in spite of the fact that this was supposed to be a study party.
"Yeah." Saki nodded her head. "They're kind of dating now, right? I was just wondering what spirit courtship is like."
"A spirit wedding would be rather cute." Mai couldn't help but smile at the image of it- Choppy in a tiny wedding dress, and Flappy in a tiny tuxedo. "Would you two know anything? You have closer ties to the Land of Fountains than us, after all." She asked, glancing over towards the Kiryuu twins.
The pair shared a look between them, before turning their gaze back towards Mai. "I don't know." Michiru said, shaking her head. "We were only responsible for guarding the Fountain of the Sky while the Land of Fountains was in ruined. Before that, we didn't even exist... so there's not much we know about the culture of the Land of Fountains."
"I would be surprised if they did, though." Kaoru added after a moment's thought. "There's no reason to assume they would have such a human tradition. Spirits are different from fairies anyhow."
"Now that you mention it, aren't we the only ones with spirits?" Saki asked. "Everyone else has fairies for partners."
"Now that you mention it..." Mai trailed off, tilting her head. "I wonder why that is."
"I don't think there's really any reason for it." Michiru said. "It probably simply has to do with the way they're born. They're formed from the elements of the Fountains themselves."
"Then, does that make the two of you spirits as well?" Saki joked, flashing a wide grin as she pointed towards the Kiryuu twins.
The two twins blinked, exchanging another look, before looking back towards Saki. "When you put it that way, it might be true." Kaoru mused, frowning a little as she put a hand to her chin in thought. "After all, we originally created by the powers of destruction... so that's not impossible."
"No, I was just making a joke..." Saki trailed off a little, rubbing the back of her head. "A-anyways, even if spirits don't have weddings, don't you think it would be cute if we put on a ceremony for the two of them?" She stammered, quickly trying to change the subject- she hadn't intended to make things awkward!
"Ah, you might be right." Saki nearly sighed in relief as Michiru quickly took to the topic, nodding her head. "I feel as if they would enjoy it. Moop and Foop would find it rather fun as well."
"It would be an interesting experience." Mai admitted, mulling it over, once again letting her thoughts once again drift towards their spirit friends, all dressed up. "But how would we carry it out?"
"Of course, it would be a surprise!" Saki beamed. "Those two helped us a lot in the past, so we need to give something back to them."
"I agree." Kaoru said. "But, Saki, do you really think they're ready to take that step? You know how Flappy is... I don't think it's something we should rush."
"Ah, that might be true..." Saki trailed off, folding her arms in front of her chest. "Well, I think it would work out anyways! The two of them are super lovey-dovey anyways!"
Exchanging a glance between the three of them, the other Precure turned back towards Saki with a smile after a moment. "You're probably right." Mai agreed. "It would be a lot of fun. I could make decorations for them."
"I could contact Princess Filia and arrange for spirit world food to be brought here. It would be trouble if we had to have them do it themselves." Michiru offered.
"We can hold it in our apartment, so nobody can burst in on us." Kaoru said. "It would be troublesome if the ceremony was interrupted."
"Then, I'll secure some old doll clothes or something for Flappy and Choppy... and probably Moop and Foop, now that I think about it. They can be the ring bearer and the flower girl! And of course, Korone can be the best man!"
"That sounds perfect!" Smiling, Mai nodded her head, already envisioning the two younger spirits and the cat all dressed up. "When should we hold it?"
"Should it not be some time after our finals?" Kaoru offered- her words sending a jolt of memory through the other three girls, the fact that they were currently studying for their upcoming final exams having completely slipped their minds.
"...T-that's probably true." Saki stammered, recalling her midterm grades with a small shiver. She might not struggle with academics as some of her fellow leaders did, but to say they weren't her strong suit was far from a lie- especially when it came to tests. "We should probably concentrate on that first..."
"And after that, we'll be free to concentrate on the ceremony as much as we want." Michiru said, glancing over towards Saki. "But I'm certain that those two will be thrilled. You thought up a wonderful idea, Saki."
"But until then, let's study our hearts out, right?" Mai asked, picking her pencil back up. "It'll be something to look forward to."
"Yes!" Nodding her head, Saki picked her own pencil back up, deciding to once more dive into the battle that was her math workbook. A spirit wedding... the thought of something like that was more than enough to put a little bit more spirit back into her!
