As they moved further into the forest, Katelyn found herself becoming light-headed with each step. She glanced over to Amy to find the ginger was not doing so well either.

"Amy? What's wrong?" River asked seeing the girl sways as she stood still. "What's wrong?" She asked again seeing Katelyn trying her best to stand rigid. River moves and tries to help Amy with her swaying by hold her lightly by her shoulders.

"Four." They both counted down again. Then without warning Amy slips out of River's grasp and sits on a mossy tree stump. Katelyn willed herself to stay standing but soon found herself leaning against a mossy rock opposite of Amy, who now lay on the tree stump.

"Med scanner now!" River barked at one of the soldiers. Who quickly gave it to her before scurrying back to his post, obvious scared of the woman's wrath.

"Doctor Song, we can't stay here. We've got to keep moving." Octavian argued as she wrapped the med scanner around Amy's arm.

"We wait for the Doctor." She then turned to another cleric. "She needs one too, where is it?"

"The other one was with Angelo ma'am." The soldier answered referring to his now deceased comrade.

"I don't need it I'm fine." Katelyn argued weakly as slide down the mossy rock into a sitting position.

"Doctor Song our mission is to make this wreckage safe and neutralise the Angels. Until that is achieved-" Octavian tried to dispute but was cut off by River.

"Father Octavian, when the Doctor's in the room, your one and only mission is to keep him alive long enough to get everyone else home. And trust me, it's not easy. Now, if he's dead back there, I'll never forgive myself. And if he's alive, I'll never forgive him. And, Doctor, you're standing right behind me, aren't you?" River looked behind her to see the Doctor without his jacket.

"Oh, yeah." He answers her smugly.

"I hate you." She hisses causing Katelyn to giggle.

"You don't. Bishop, the Angels are in the forest." The Doctor then jumps down from the perch he had stood on and kneels down on the other side of Amy. Katelyn felt an odd wane of jealous as she watched the Doctor check over Amy first. A feeling she immediately tried to ignore as she had no right to be angry over, or so she believed anyways.'

"How did you get past them?" River questioned him.

"I found a crack in the wall and told them it was the end of the universe." He explained quickly.

"What was it?" Amy asked groggy.

"The end of the universe." He then snatches the med scanner away from River. "Now, let's have a look, then. " His face paling as he read the device.

"So, what's wrong with me?" Amy questioned.

"Nothing you're fine. You're both fine." River reassured both of them.

"Everything, you're dying." The Doctor stated truthfully looking worriedly at Katelyn, who seemed to be taking the news a lot better than he had expected.

"Doctor!" River hissed at him.

"Yes, you're right. If we lie to them, they will get all better. Right, Amy, Katie, Amy, Katie. What's the matter with Amelia, and Katelyn." He starts pacing. "Something is in their eyes. What does that mean, does it mean anything?" He pondered aloud.

"Doctor." Amy whined for him.

"Busy."

"Scared." Katelyn despite her own creeping fear rolled her eyes heavenward.

"Course you're scare, you're dying. Shut up."He then continued pondering aloud. "What happened? She stared at the Angel. They looked into the eyes of an Angel for too long."

"I didn't." Katelyn argued weakly. "I looked at the teeth."

"What?" The Doctor rushed to her side kneeling in front of her.

"Where's your jacket?" She asked instead of answering.

"Why the teeth, why stare at the teeth."

"I was afraid." She whimpered as it seemed to hurt more she talked.

"Afraid of stone teeth but not of being told you are going to die?" He said watching her reaction.

"Nothing new to me." She stated referring to the cancer that coursed through body.

"Sir, Angel incoming!" One of the soldiers shouted, followed by another.

"Keep visual contact!" Octavian ordered.

"Come on, come on, come on. Wakey, wakey."The Doctor stood slapping the sides of his head as he tried to will out the answer. "They watched an Angel climb out of the screen. They stared at the Angel and, and..."

"The image of an Angel is an Angel." Amy said weakly, causing the Doctor to stop pacing as he realized what had happened to his girls.

"A living mental image in a living human mind. But we stare at them to stop them getting closer. We don't even blink, and that is exactly what they want. Because as long as our eyes are open, they can climb inside. There's an Angel in their mind." He immediately clasped a hand over his mouth realizing he shouldn't have told them that.

"Three." They both uttered. Katelyn groaned as she felt the pressure of something fighting to escape from inside her.

"Doctor, it's coming. I can feel it. I'm going to die." Amy whimpered.

"Please just shut up. I'm thinking. Now, counting. What's that about?" He then shouts into the walkie-talkie. "Bob, why are they making them count?"

"To make them afraid, sir." The Angel's emotion lacking voice answered.

"Okay, but why? What for?"

"For fun, sir." The Doctor not liking that answer through the walkie down in frustration.

"Doctor, what's happening to me? Explain. " Amy calls to him.

"Inside your heads, in the vision centres of your brains, there's an Angel. It's like there's a screen, a virtual screen inside your minds and the Angel is climbing out of it, and it's coming to shut both of you off." The Doctor explained gravely.

"Then what do we do?" Katelyn struggled to ask.

"If it was a real screen, what would we do? We'd pull the plug. We'd kill the power. But we can't just knock them out, the Angel would just take over." He explained running his hand through his hair in frustration. "We've got to shut down the vision centres of her brain. We've got to pull the plug. Starve the Angel."

"Doctor they got seconds." River reminded her as she watched Amy's vitals plummeting.

"How would you starve your lungs?" He asked River out of the blue, confusing Katelyn.

"I'd stop breathing." River answered him not looking away from the scanner.

"Close your eyes now both of you." The Doctor ordered. Katelyn immediately shuts her eyes on his command, but felt no difference in the pounding in her mind.

"No. No, I don't want to." She heard Amy whine.

"Good, because that's not you, that's the Angel inside you. It's afraid. Do it. Close your eyes." He begged her, and watched as Amy squeezed her eyes shut finally.

"She's normalizing. Oh, you did it. You did it." River told him revealed, but the Doctor paid no mind and instead turned his attention to Katelyn.

"Are you..." But his voice trailed off upon seeing her face contorted in pain. He quickly kneeled down beside her checking her pulse. "Give me the med scanner." He yelled to River when he couldn't find it.

"Doctor." She groaned, as an unknown pressure seemed to build up in her throat, causing everything in her mouth to ache.

"You're gonna be fine just keep your eyes closed."

"I-I am, two." She said reaching the end of her count down.

"River the scanner!" He yelled again.

"It's stuck on her arm." River shouted back to him.

"Good lord you're an idiot." A new voice said among the fray, one all to familiar to Katelyn.

"Ma-" But she didn't get to ask as a hand covered her mouth causing her to panic.

"Yes, yes it's me again, well younger me but still me." Max's arrogant voice said beside her now. "Now, Kate you can open your eyes."

"Doctor whose there?" Amy asked not at as familiar with Max.

"No she can't the Angel is inside her." The Doctor argued, ignoring Amy for once.

"Yeah, just not in her eyes." Max explained to the Doctor like he was a child. "Let me guess the Angel said she had something in her eye, well from my experience Angels tend to lie... Heh that rhymed."

"Why would the Angel lie?" Octavian asked now.

"Why did it impersonate Bob? Why did it say it was doing all of this for fun?" Max countered. "Why because the Angels are trying to piss this guy off over here, and what better way to do that than to try to kill his..." Max coughs clearing his throat. "His friends."

"So then where is the Angel inside her?"River asked.

"The hardest place to keep shut on her, her mouth. Which-OUCH!" Max didn't get to finish his snarky comment as Katelyn finally opened her eyes and bit down on his hand that hand been covering her mouth.

She took this moment to see that this Max was indeed younger than the one from before. He was probably a year older than the one that was supposed to be in Pire now. the only real difference she could see on this was the vortex manipulator that had a was somehow cleaner that the last one she had seen on him. He even was wearing one of his favorite t-shirts from aback home, causing her to wonder what exactly was it going to be like when she returned.

"What, what happened?" Amy asked after hearing Max began profusely swearing.

"Katelyn just bit Max." Doctor explained, smirking slightly.

"What again?" Amy said making Katelyn want to laugh.

"Sir? Two more incoming." One of the clerics called, turning the situation serious again.

"Three more over here." Another called.

"They're still weak, it's to dangerous to move them." River said standing and looking around the mall area.

"Can I open mine now too?" Amy asked as she as she sat up.

"Amy, listen to me. If you open your eyes now for more than a second, you will die. The Angel is still inside you. We haven't stopped it, we've just sort of paused it. You've used up your countdown. You cannot open your eyes." The Doctor explained gravely.

"But she can?" Amy bickered.

"She's on a different restriction, the Angel isn't trying to escape her mind, it's trying to make her one." Max told her earning bewildered looks from everyone in the camp. "What it was in the book."

"Why are they trying to turn her into an Angel?" The Doctor asked.

"Uh, spoilers." He said quoting River.

"Doctor, we're too exposed here. We have to move on." Octavian said bringing the Doctor's attention back to the matter at hand.

"We're too exposed everywhere. And Amy can't move. And anyway, that's not the plan." The Doctor retorted.

"You having a plan." Max scoffed, earing yet another glare from the time lord.

"I don't know yet. I haven't finished talking. Right! Father, you and your Clerics, you're going to stay here, look after Amy and Katie. If anything happens to her, I'll hold every single one of you personally responsible, twice. River, you and me, we're going to find the Primary Flight Deck which is..." He licks his finger and began waving around until pointing it behind him. " A quarter of a mile straight ahead, and from there we're going to stabilise the wreckage, stop the Angels, and cure Amy and Katie."

"How?" River questioned.

"I'll do a thing." He answered jumping to stand in front of River.

"What thing?"

"I don't know. It's a thing in progress. Respect the thing." He said earning a smile from Katelyn. "Moving out!"

"Doctor, I'm coming with you. My Clerics'll look after Miss Pond and Miss Keith. These are my best men. They'd lay down their lives in her protection." The Father stated proudly.

"I don't need you."

"I don't care. Where Doctor Song goes, I go." This caused Katelyn to look at Max confused, she had thought that max had been, well in relations with River.

"What? You two engaged or something?" The Doctor asked looking between the two.

"Yes, in a manner of speaking. Matthew, you're in charge till I get back." Octavian ordered.

"Sir yes, sir." Max saluted, and turned to speak with the clerics.

"Doctor? Please, can't I come with you?"Amy called after the time lord.

"You'd slow us down, Miss Pond." Octavian said before leaving with River.

"I don't want to sound selfish, but you'd really speed me up." Amy said earning an eye roll from Katelyn. When haven't you been selfish today?

"You'll be safer here." The Doctor said sitting next to her on the stump. "We can't protect you on the move. I'll be back for you soon as I can, I promise."

"You always say that." She huffed angrily.

"I always come back." He stands and moves to Katelyn kneeling in front her.

"I'm sorry about before." He said sheepishly, referring to the kiss. "I wasn't thinking, and I promise you when this over I'll answer all your questions. But for me to do that you have to stay safe." He gently places a kiss on the top of her head.

Big order to fill, Doc, but I think I can manage.

"I know you can, watch over Amy." He said as if he heard her thoughts.

"Good luck, everyone." He said standing. " Behave. Do not let that girl open her eyes." He points to Amy."Don't let this one talk." He points to Katelyn. "And keep watching the forest. Stop those Angels advancing. Amy, Katie, later. River, going to need your computer!" He then shot of in the direction that Octavian and River had left from.
