Zoe woke up snuggled to Wade, a silly smile on her lips. The events that had taken place last night were sitting right there and Zoe was happy that they had waited to be intimate, because it was that much more special. The pain only lasted so long and Wade was gentle so it really was like there was no pain, everything about it was slow, they took their time to really get to know the others body. Any where else at any different time before this it would have been sloppy and a disaster. She was happy to have waited for the right moment. She had always enjoyed cuddling with Wade, but after their heightened experience in the afterglow, laying in his arms was like something she had never experienced before; that was her drug; her euphoria. Closing her eyes, she could stay right here all day long.
Wade hardly slept. He felt alive, his senses woken at the height of their passion last night. He wanted more of his girlfriend. The stress that had built up had vanished and he enjoyed kissing and tasting every inch of Zoe. He was even more addicted now than he had ever been in his life. Zoe Hart was his. He hated to cause her pain so every movement was slow, he had let her call the shots and it had been worth it. Laying with her in his arms he had realized one thing, he couldn't let her go. Ever. He drifted back to sleep a goofy grin on his face and a plan in his head.
Small touches and lazy kisses turned into hungry kisses had them in another round of heated passion.
"What?" Zoe asked, nearly choking on her bite of waffle. She couldn't have heard him right. They were by far way to young for that step.
"Marry me. There is no one else for me, Zo. I'm in love with you, I can't imagine my life without you," he told her, lacing his fingers with hers. "It isn't something we gotta rush into. Think about it Zoe. Can you see yourself with anyone else?"
"Yes," Zoe told him, cringing when she saw the hurt on his face. She wouldn't let him pull away. "Let me try this again. I don't know if I'm ready to get married, Wade, but I can't picture anyone else than you standing there. One day I want to marry you so yes I'll marry you," she told him with a giddy grin. Wade wanted nothing more than to ravish his now fiancé right there in public. He had managed to control himself, kissing her hard and long, dragging her body against his.
After breakfast they headed out to find the perfect ring. He did have a nice chuck of money saved up. After getting his car when he was 16 he started to put money away for a rainy day and over the years it had turned into saving money to Zoe the prefect engagement ring, because at 17 he knew she was the only one for him. He had wanted the ring before asking, but it had came off the tip of his tongue like getting married was nothing major.
"What is it you are looking for?" The man behind the counter asked.
"An engagement ring," Wade told him, seeing none that really caught his eye.
"Oh," the man responded, looking them over with a judging eye. "We have an excellent selection over here." They followed the man, happy when an over excited older women was gladly took over helping them find the right ring. It was a small pear shaped ring. It was perfect and the sales lady give them a huge discount for being young and so in love.
They wanted to spend more time alone but they were in a hurry to get home and share their news with their family and friends. Laughter filled the car ride home, making the drive seem like seconds rather than minutes. They were both happy with everything that had taken place over the course of the last 24 hours. Wade parked his car in front of his house, making no move to actually get outta the car.
"We don't have to tell anyone yet, Zo," Wade commented, looking at her.
"I know but I'm happy and proud of this, I want the whole town to know, just after we tell our parents," Zoe responded, leaning over to kiss him briefly. "Do you not want to tell anyone?" She asked with a frown.
"I'm just as excited as you are about this whole thing, Zo. I want to scream to the world that you are mine," he smirked. Zoe giggled, getting out of the car. Wade got out, wrapping his arms around her from behind, gently kissing and sucking on her neck. Zoe giggled, swatting his head away. Wade smirked, moving so he could fully kiss her on the lips, pressing her body against his, where it fit perfectly.
"Where's Mom?" Wade asked, pulling Zoe through the door.
"About that, go have a seat, Zoe you as well," Earl told them, ushering them to the living room. Wade shared a look with Zoe before looking at Jesse.
"Don't look at me. Dad won't tell me anything, said I had to wait until you got here," Jesse told his brother.
"Your Mom isn't here," Earl started to say.
"What do you mean she's not here?" Wade yelled, getting up panic running through his body. Zoe was right there trying to calm him down.
"She's at the hospital." That was all Wade needed to hear, before storming off. Zoe right behind him.
"I really wanted my Mom there to watch as our lives become one." Zoe wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her head on his chest. Letting him have his moment.
"I know, baby. But we don't even know if it's good or bad news. You gotta let him finish and we can go from there, okay?" Wade nodded, placing a kiss to the top of her head. He wrapped his arms around her, content on staying in Zoe's arms where the world seemed to stopped.
"You're telling me that I dated my soon to be sister?" Jesse asked, stopping short from where they stood. Wade tensed up, having his back to his older brother. "That's just gross," Jesse chuckled.
"Considering that I walked out half way through the date for your brother, we really didn't date," Zoe smirked.
"Yeah exactly, she's been mine long before that. I just didn't know letters would led us here," he smiled, looking down at her eyes.
"Me either."
