"But where are you going now?" Leon asked again, not satisfied with D's bizarre answer. "Where are you taking the pet shop to?"

"Leon…" D sighed, glancing away, "it doesn't matter where. In the end, everywhere I go will be the same."

"How can it be the same?" Leon replied.

"Indeed, summer at the tropics is hotter, and at the arctic it marks the daytime, yet…" Mismatched eyes met blue, and D sighed again. "Everywhere I go will be the same, because you won't be there."

"Then let me go with you," and he kissed him before he could protest.
