New Beginnings 2

Chapter 22 Regina!

-January 30th Storybrooke General-

Now 36 weeks pregnant, Regina was extremely uncomfortable. The only comfort she got was from seeing her daughter. She barely slept since Katherine was put in the hospital and her hatred toward Claire just continued to rise every day she goes to stay with her little girl. Gold walked into the room and looked at the hurting mother watching her child.

"Still no change?"

Regina turned toward her former tutor and shook her head, "No, she hasn't moved an inch. The only thing that moves is her chest to let me know she is still breathing."

Gold walked toward Katherine, and he took her hand in his, "Hello dearie, we sure miss your smile and your laughter. You brighten anyone's day with your presence. That mean lady has no heart by attacking a little angel like you."

Regina couldn't believe what Gold said to her daughter. He cared for her, and that made the expectant mother tear up. He conjured a beautiful stuffed horse that resembled Regina's horse in the Enchanted Forest with a lovely lilac ribbon tied around its neck. He lifted her arm, placed it next to her, and gently rested her arm as if she was holding it.

Gold leaned over and kissed her forehead, "That was the last time I would use magic. Today, I am going to do what is right for you, our family, and this town."

Regina lifted her head and tried to piece together what the imp was saying. Realization hit her, and she called out to him before he walked away, "Please tell me that you are not going to do what I think you are going to do."

Gold walked up to the former Queen and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, "My decision was made long before you and Emma conceived your two wee ones that are on the way. Ms. Fairchild will not tear this family apart, and I will make sure of it. For Katherine to live, a magical sacrifice must be made, and I will make it."

He kissed the top of her head and walked toward the door. Regina watched with a hopeful heart as her former enemy who's willingly sacrificing power he had for many years for her family to stay together.

"Who are you and what have you done with Rumplestiltskin?" Regina questioned with a teary smile.

Gold opened the door, turned to look at the Mayor, and replied, "I reformed him into the man he should have been."

She smiled, and he walked out of the room.

Gold walked up to the doors of the old mansion in the forest and the doors opened by itself. He walked in, and the doors closed behind him. He continued to walk until he was in a large parlor room. He noticed Claire sitting by the fireplace in a winged back chair.

"Hello Dark One, it's so nice to see you again."

Gold walked until he got a good luck at the woman, "I wish I could say the same for you, dearie."

Claire stood up and walked to look into the fire, "Why are you here?"

"I'm just going to get straight to the point. I found a way to destroy your plan to break up Regina's family. Have you ever heard of a magical sacrifice?"

Claire's eyes widened and quickly turned to face him, "How did you?"

Gold smiled evilly, "Never mind about that, dearie. You now realize that you have no chance to defeat Regina and Emma. I decided to do what is right for this town and my family."

Claire evilly laughed in his face, "Wait, you mean Rumplestiltskin…the Dark One…will be sacrificing his own magic to save an evil woman's child? Haha! I think I am having one hilarious dream and I never woke up. I think I am still on the morphine drip. Please pinch me. I think I am still asleep."

Gold pulled out the Dark One dagger, knelt on the floor, and began carving an ancient rune. Claire recognized the rune, and her mouth dropped. He was serious. He was going through with sacrificing his magic. When he finished drawing the rune, he stood in the center and placed his dagger in front of him. He used his magic one last time to summon a cane since he will need it again. After setting the cane outside the rune, he began. Gold held out his hand, and the dagger rose spinning slowly.

"I now relinquish my power of the dagger and the Dark One so Claire Fairchild's friends from the other side can return to the other side and stay there for all eternity!"

Claire's eyes widened with fear, and she screamed, "No!"

The fire in the fireplace rose up and out enveloping Rumplestiltskin and spiraling to form a fire tornado. The shadow creatures were pulled out of the shadows, and they were clawing to stay in the shadows failing to catch a grip on anything. The shadows were sucked into the fiery twister, and their screams filled the room. When the raging fire consumed all the shadow creatures, the fiery twister lowered to the ground then shot back into the fireplace. The force of the magic sent Claire flying backward knocking her out. Gold looked up to see his cane, and he grabbed it. He used it to help him stand, and he walked out of the parlor with a limp.

Emma and Henry walked into Katherine's hospital room noticing Regina was still there holding her little girl's hand.

"Mom," Regina looked to her son's direction and reached out, "Henry, why are you not at school?"

Emma replied, "Let's just say there is a flu outbreak and I decided to go get him since mom called me to give me the heads up."

Regina closed her eyes, "Great, that is all we need for the flu to hit our house."

Henry took his little sister's hand in his, "Hey Kat; it's bubby. (now in tears) I miss you so much. I miss you running into my bedroom jumping on me so that I could play with you. Get better soon so you can be your lovable, playful self again."

He leaned forward and kissed her to her forehead. Regina's heart got hopeful because she thought true love's kiss would sure break this magical coma. After Henry broke the kiss, Katherine remained the same and Regina's heart sank. Emma took her wife in an embrace, and both women saw red. Snow and David walked into the room.

"How is she?" Snow asked, and David said the obvious, "Still no change?"

Regina shook her head, "Still no change. Could you two stay with Henry? Emma and I need to go take care of some business."

"Of course," Snow nodded, and the mothers turned to their son.

Henry walked over to Regina and hugged her then Emma joined in making it a group hug. After they broke the embrace, the two magical women disappeared in a cloud of gold smoke.

Henry looked at his grandparents with a questionable expression, "What do you think they are going do?"

"Henry, let's just trust your mothers, and we'll see when they get back," David replied with a pat on the back.

Regina and Emma appeared in the clearing overlooking the town. Regina was about to take one step forward, and Emma reached out and grabbed her hand. The brunette turned with an irritated look toward her wife who was wearing a goofy grin that instantly made her irritation disappear. Emma took her into an embrace to where Regina's back was against her wife, and Emma's hands rested on her swollen belly.

"Look how beautiful it is," Emma pointed out, and Regina smiled, "It sure is."

Regina rested her hands on Emma's, and Emma said, "You know if you weren't pregnant right now, I would so make love to you right here."

Regina giggled and replied, "How romantically barbaric of you, dear; you wanting to have sex out in the open."

"No one would see us!" Emma protested, and Regina decided to end the argument, "Emma, let's table this for some other time. I want to enjoy this moment with you overlooking our town as we are going face Claire."

Emma sighed, "Regina, you shouldn't even be here because of…"

Regina turned around, and her face hardened, "Don't even think about saying that I shouldn't be here because I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant! I'm not crippled! It is my daughter…"

"Our daughter," Emma stressed then Regina continued venting, "It is our daughter that Claire put in a magical coma and I will not sit around another minute longer! I want this bitch to fry!"

"Regina, babe, listen to me; I know you are not crippled and that you are just pregnant. There are two other lives besides yours I am thinking of. I know you think about them because you are one hell of a mother. But right now, your mind is filled with revenge."

"I am worried about you, Emma!" Regina broke into tears, "I cannot lose you. I cannot raise a sixteen-year-old, a two-year-old, and newborn twins alone. I need you."

Emma took Regina into a loving embrace and scratched her back, "I need you, too. I need you and the twins to be safe. If anything happened to you, I don't know what I would do."

Regina broke the embrace and smiled, "You can't protect me all the time. Darling, you need to trust me."

Emma smiled, "I do trust you."

Regina leaned forward and gave Emma a tender kiss to her eagerly waiting lips. Emma decided to deepen the kiss by sneaking her tongue in, and it was accepted with Regina slipping in her tongue. After Emma broke the kiss, they gazed into each other's eyes.

"I love you, Regina Katherine."

Regina smiled, "I love you, Emma Grace."

They turned to face the old mansion and took each other's hand. They began their hike up the trail that leads to the mansion.

They reached the doors of the mansion, and they opened by themselves. The couple walked in, and the doors closed behind them. Regina's nostrils flared, and she made a disgusted look on her face.

"Why does it smell like burnt wood in here?"

Emma looked, and she recognized where the light was coming from, "It's coming from that parlor room over there. Come on."

They walked down the hall and turned right into the large parlor room.

Regina's eyes widened, "What the hell happened here?"

The ceiling had a perfect black scorched ring and the floor as well. The fireplace had burning wood chips out in front in a semi-circle. Claire got up and realized who was here.

"Great; first the Dark one shows up and now you two idiots! My time as a punching bag is over! You two will pay for what you've done to me in that hospital!"

Regina fired back, "You will pay for what you've done to our daughter."

"Starting now," Emma said when she and Regina fired a fiery golden ball toward Claire.

Claire shielded herself only for it to be broken and the fiery ball hit her square in the chest. It knocked her back for a short time then she fired a fiery black ball toward Regina only for Emma to repel it, but Claire already had another plan of attack. She held out arms, and the cards flowed out her hands and went straight to the couple. Regina and Emma sent a stream of gold magic toward the cards, and they were all burnt to a crisp. Claire had immediately sent a large black fiery ball toward Emma while they were taking care of those cards. Regina noticed it, and she used one hand to throw a gold stream of magic that hit Claire square in the chest.

Regina realized it was too late to dispel the ball, so she yelled, "Emma look out!"

She pushed Emma out the way, and she took the hit. She and Claire both flew backward. Emma flew to Regina's rescue and caught her but it wasn't fast enough. They both hit the wall behind them. The force of the hit caused Emma to lose her grip on her wife, and they both fell to the ground. Claire was lying on the ground by the fireplace out of it, and Regina was on the ground out like a light.

Emma quickly moved to Regina's aid and held her in her arms, "Regina! Babe, talk to me! Regina, I can't have you and Katherine in the hospital like this! Damn it; you can't be in this state! Regina…Regina!"
