Chapter 52-Geer's Survival

Geer awakens to find that a muzzle has been fitted over his jaws.

Clever, he thinks as he waits for his kidnapper to return.

The roar of a female dragon echoes a few moments later.

That's her, he mutters to himself as Finca enters.

Her usual white scales have turned black but her eyes have remained their natural yellow.

Wake up youngling, she growls sharply, smacking her tail against the side of Geer's head while she speaks to him.

Geer whimpers softly.

Answer me! Finca growls, her tail hitting him again.

I . . . I hear you, Geer whimpers, wishing that Tamli was with him.

Finca growls in pleasure and gazes down at the chained little blue dragon.

Pity Tamli isn't here to save you, she hisses.

Geer whimpers more and Finca roar at him.

If you hadn't been born then I wouldn't have died! It's your fault that I'm like this! She bellows.

Geer quiets and Finca glares at him once more before she leaves the room.

Tamli . . . master . . . please come before it is too late, Geer thinks before he drifts off to sleep.

Meanwhile, Tamli and Arasies sleep softly. Tamli suddenly awakens, hearing what he thinks might be Geer calling out to him. He awakens Arasies who first growls at him for waking her up then roars as he tells her of Geer's frantic plead to come before it's too late.

We must save him, she growls.

"How?" Tamli asks.

Simple, I fly there and we save him, Arasies answers.

"Good plan but I don't know where he is, other then in a dark underground chamber," Tamli explains.

I will find it, Arasies says as she lowers herself to allow Tamli to get on her back.

"You sure?" Tamli asks.

Trust me, Arasies mutters as she unfolds her wings and rises into the air.

I am coming Geer! Tamli thinks as he holds onto Arasies.

Arasies growls sharply and quickly spins around to the left, almost throwing Tamli off.

"What has that for?" Tamli shouts over the wind.

I have caught Geer's scent and found where he is, Arasies answers as she flies off to save Tamli's Guardian.

Geer whimpers as Finca whips him again in the head.

She doesn't care if I die, Geer thinks.

Finca suddenly stops and Geer can feel her warm breathe on his scales.

I ought to go ahead and get rid of you but yet I won't. You mean too much to Nira for that, Finca growls.

Nira? Who is that? Geer thinks as he listens to Finca.

Finca snaps at Geer's outstretched wings.

While it would be so easy for me to finish you off right now, Master Nira has told me not to and I will obey his command, Finca snarls before storming out of the room, leaving Geer alone once more.

{Geer -narrator}

Finca doesn't care about the fact that I am her son. She blames me for her death and I rightfully understand that. But grabbing me after she knocked out Tamli was wrong. Why didn't she take him too?

A sudden sound catches my ear, the sound of footsteps. Could that be Tamli? Could he be coming to rescue me? The footsteps advance into a run and then I feel the chains holding me breaking off.

Geer? A voice asks.

Master? I question.

It's me, Tamli replies as he gently picks me up and holds me close to his chest.

The warm white fabric of his white tunic presses against my wounded body.

Did you find him? A sudden voice calls out.

I tense up and growl softly. Tamli reassures me by way of his aura that this new voice is that of the female dragon Arasies, the daughter of the Legendary Guardian Mirage.

"I did Arasies," Tamli answers.

A roar is suddenly heard in the background. Finca, I bet it's her! Tamli pulls me closer to him, close enough for me to hear his heartbeat.

"Finca," he growls sharply.

His tone surprises me, has he gotten over her death?

I'm surprised that you are . . . well here, Finca snarls as her footsteps recede, I'm guessing she stopped moving.

I believe you to be dead! The dragoness Arasies roars.

Finca chuckles at the white dragoness' remark.

True, I was, but now that has changed. Nira has given me a better life. Better then my life ever was with Tamli!

Those last words 'Better then my life ever was with Tamli' stun me. Finca couldn't have meant those words, she cares about Tamli!

Tamli go! Arasies growls.

"Not without Geer," my master mutters softly to the white female.

I press myself closer to Tamli's warm cloak.

I will stop Finca, now go! Arasies growls, getting annoyed.

"No," Tamli says.

A fierce roar suddenly rips through the air. I catch the scent of a new dragon, a male.

I sssee he isss here. Good job Finca, the male growls in satisfaction.

Thank you Nira, Finca answers.

That male? Is that Nira? I hear Nira's growl as he approaches Tamli and I.

Fresssh meat, he growls.

Could he mean Tamli? Could he . . . ? No, we dragons would never . . .

Husssh young blue runt, Nira snaps, seeming to hear my thoughts.

Tamli growls and I can feel the warmth of his aura.

"Never call Geer a runt," he growls.

Nira chuckles at my master's fierceness.

May I sssuggest that you don't talk back to me, Nira comments. That isss, if you want to live longer.

Live longer? I think. Nira . . . he wouldn't . . . he can't harm Tamli!

I growl and fling myself from Tamli's chest.

Nira, you shall not harm my master! I roar, feeling a blaze of sudden energy rise up around me.

Without taking much thought into the matter, I open my mouth. A rippling stream of cracking electricity burst forth from my jaws and slams into Nira's unguarded chest. He roars in pain and I crumble to the dirt floor, feeling exhausted from my sudden attack. Nira retreats, growling fiercely at me.

I have warned Tamli to not ssspeak back to me and now you attack me, Nira growls. That will not go unpunished!

With a single leap, he bounds toward Tamli and I. His eyes blazing with rage . . .
