They awoke on the floor of the circular room of the tower, Lyna's wolf and Hati lying next to them, guarding they're sleeping forms. The withered body of the sloth demon was lying on the ground next to the body of Niall. Neria walked quickly over collecting the Litany from the pocket of his robes, saying silent thanks before they continued upwards through the tower, killing off the remaining demons they found.
They came to the last room at the end of the corridor, Neria felt herself shudder as she remembered the last time she walked this pathway, the day of her own Harrowing. They stepped through the door to find the room empty, except for one templar trapped behind a wall of magic.

"We must help him!" Wynne cried as they hasten towards him. As they got closer Neria recognised the tall statue of the templar, along with his dirty fair curly hair as Cullen, she stumbled a bit as the sight of her old crush.

"It won't work! It won't work!" the templar mumbled as he paced, taken quick fugitive glances at the group. "I will stay strong, you can't trick me." He uttered in an almost sing-song voice.

"Cullen, it's okay, it's me Neria." She explained slowly.

"Ha, that's what they want me to think." He mumbled mirthlessly as he clutched his head.

"The boy is exhausted, and this cage... I've never seen anything like it" Wynne added, her concern mirroring her own. "Rest easy boy, help is here."

"Enough! If anything in you is human... kill me now and stop this game." Cullen begged as he fell to his knees, still clutching his head. "You broke the other but you will not break me!" Cullen almost sobbed.

Neria felt her heart break as she kneeled down in front of the templar. "Cullen, it's me, it's really me! We're here to help!"

"Please stop these cruel jokes, tempting me with the one this I could never have, my Ill advised infatuation with her, a mage of all things."

"Cullen, I'm really here! I'm real, we all are."

"Silence, I will not listen! Begone!" Cullen shouted as he stood uncovering his eyes. "but- but your still here, it's always worked before, why- why are you still here?"

"We're real Cullen, we're here to help." Neria said in a hushed voice.

"Don't blame me for being cautious. The voices... the images... so real... But why have you returned to the tower, ho-how did you survive?"

"We killed everything, and now its Uldred's turn." Neria felt her blood boil at the thought of what one man had inflicted on to her home.

"Good... kill Uldred. Kill them all for what they've done. They caged us like animals... looked for ways to break us. I'm the only one left... They turned some into... monsters. And there was nothing I could do." Cullen's voice stuttered and cracked at the memories of the torture.

"Your safe now Cullen, but where are the other mages?" Neria asked.

"What others? What are you talking about?"

"Irving and the other mages who fought against Uldred, where are they?" Wynne interrupted becoming impatient with the templar.

"They are in the Harrowing Chamber." Cullen said pointing towards the staircase that lead up the chamber. "The sounds coming out from there... oh, Maker..."

"We must hurry. They are in grave danger, I am sure of it." Wynne stressed as she turned away from the templar and headed to the stairs.

"You can't save them." Cullen called after them, "You don't know what they've become. They've been surrounded b-by blood mages whose wicked fingers snake into your mind and corrupt your thoughts."

"And what should I do? Kill them all? Kill the innocent so that I might kill the guilty?" Neria hissed out. "No, I am sure there are still mage's that can be saved, I will not make this decision out of fear."

"That is your choice to make, but I beg you to consider what I have to say. You cannot tell Maleficarum by sight. Just one could influence the mind of a king, of a grand cleric." Cullen warned as they walked up the stairs.

"Stay safe Cullen it will be all over soon." Were her last words as the stepped into the Harrowing chamber.
