The couple informed his family of their engagement over the phone and they couldn't have been happier for them but when they headed for Raw Stephanie removed her ring, they wanted to tell her family first before they announced it to the world so they were going back to Connecticut after the Smackdown taping to tell them face to face.
A big part of Paul hoped that when Vince saw how serious they were he would take back the fact that he had disowned her but an even larger part of him didn't think he would but they hadn't discussed the possibilities and he was definitely not going to bring them up with her because they were happy, she was happy, he wasn't going to risk that on a maybe.
Vince saw the way his daughter was with her boyfriend at the production meeting and he thought there was something strange going on, the two of them were acting weird and he didn't know why but he had disowned her so he really didn't care all that much.
Sat in their locker room Stephanie stared at her phone looking up briefly when the door opened relieved when she saw it was just Paul, "I was thinking, should I tell Mom that we need to talk to her?"
Walking closer so their conversation would be harder to overhear he had been thinking the same thing, "I was thinking about that. We don't want to panic her but we want to be able to catch her and your Dad together so it's not really something we can just drop in for."
"I guess that is settled then, I will text my Mom."
Paul and I have something we would like to talk to you and Vince about. When is the best time to come by?
Almost instantly she received a reply from her Mom:
Come over Wednesday evening after 7. Your brother is coming over for dinner so your Father will be here.
She hadn't even thought about telling her brother about Vince disowning her, she didn't even know how much he knew because they hadn't really spoken and when they did they hadn't talked about Vince. Rubbing her temples she was suddenly feeling very nauseous, "She says Wednesday, Shane will be there too and I don't know if he knows."
Taking his fiancée's hands in his he held them tightly, "Well if he doesn't then he will find out either way so your Dad will just have to deal with all of the fall out."
Hearing Paul say that actually put her at ease, Shane was her best friend so she was hoping that no matter what he would side with her, "Thank you, I needed to be reminded of that."
Shrugging his shoulders he stood up to change, "You're welcome, it is what I am here for. Did you notice your Dad giving us weird looks earlier in the meeting? Maybe I am just crazy because of keeping this secret but it genuinely felt like he was looking at us weirdly."
If she was honest she hadn't even looked at him all that much, "I don't know, I didn't really look at him a lot to say that I noticed. I think you could be paranoid though."
"You're probably right. The sooner Wednesday comes around and this is all out in the open the happier that I will be."
Paul's wish came true but when Wednesday did come quickly he wished that it hadn't as he watched his fiancée pace up and down the lounge, "Do I wear my ring as we go in or do I keep it safe and then put it on once we have told them or do I wear it all of the time? Should I dress up? Should I wear running shoes incase my Dad comes after us?"
Standing up he walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulders stilling her movements, "Stop stressing so much. Maybe wear your ring the entire time, I doubt anybody will notice and I don't think you need to dress up or dress down, you don't want to make them suspicious do you?"
Looking at the clock it was just after five and Stephanie just wanted to leave and for it to be over with, "Are we still going to dinner after my parents?"
Pressing a kiss to the tip of her nose he smiled, "We sure are, we deserve to celebrate so we will."
Wrapping her arms around his waist she held on tightly, "I can't wait."
Linda was preparing dinner with her daughter-in-law whilst the boys talked in the lounge, she was trying so hard to act normal but she was failing, "What's wrong Linda?"
Sighing Linda turned to face her, "Can you keep a secret?"
"Of course I can, you know you can trust me."
Taking a quick look at the door to make sure the boys weren't around she decided to be somewhat honest, "Stephanie and Paul are coming over for something. Vince hasn't taken too kindly to them being back together but they want to talk about something so I'm just nervous."
Before Marissa had a chance to reply there was a knock at the door so Linda excused herself to answer it.
Standing behind the closed door Stephanie was petrified and even when her Mom opened the door with a friendly and warm smile her nausea didn't subside, "Hi Mom."
Linda hadn't seen her daughter in a few weeks so she eagerly pulled her into a warm hug, "Stephanie, it's so good to see you." Turning to Paul she hugged him, "Hello to you too Paul."
Hugging his soon to be Mother-in-law he kept an eye on his fiancée, "It's good to see you too Linda."
Letting the couple in she motioned to the lounge, "Your Dad and Shane are in the lounge, Marissa is in the kitchen."
Taking a deep breath Stephanie took hold of Paul's hand, "Can you get Marissa to join us aswell please? I would like everyone to be together."
Making her way to the kitchen Linda was about to enter when Marissa appeared at the door, "We need to join our husband's in the lounge."
Once the women were in the lounge Stephanie and Paul followed them in just as the men asked about dinner.
The second Vince saw Stephanie walked into the room with Paul he shook his head, "What the hell are they doing here?"
Linda shrugged, "I don't know, they said they wanted to talk to us."
Sliding his arm around Stephanie's waist Paul held her close and kissed the side of her head, "When you're ready."
Leaning into Paul she sighed, "I came here because we wanted to tell you that we are getting married, Paul asked me to be his wife and I said yes."
Linda, Shane and Marissa were all soon on their feet congratulating the couple with the women checking out the ring.
When the excitement died down they all turned to look at Vince who hadn't moved an inch, "Vince?"
Looking at his wife Vince shrugged, "What? She is nothing to me so why should I care."
Shane's head snapped to look at his Dad, "You what? Who hasn't told me what?"
Stephanie was trying so hard not to cry, "Well in summary a few weeks ago your Dad disowned me for dating Paul."
Looking at his Dad like he was crazy Shane shook his head, "You take it back now though right? I mean they're getting married."
Standing up Vince shook his head, "My stance still stands, as far as I am concerned you are still disowned and I want nothing to do with this wedding. Now if you will excuse me I have a phone call to make, call me when dinner is ready."
Everyone stood there with their mouths on the floor unable to say a word as they watched him as he left.
Holding on tightly to her fiancé Stephanie knew that there was a chance that he would react like that but she had really hoped that hearing they were serious would change his mind but apparently not.
Wanting to deflect Stephanie's attention away from Vince's behaviour Marissa had a question to ask, "So when are we going wedding dress shopping?"
