Chapter 52: West Mobian Virus

Previously on Chapter 51: Jenny recovered from her sickness... or so she thought. In Sand Blast City, she and Jack had a small moment together, but was blown by two mysterious fugitives from the Eggman Empire disguised as a Mobian rabbit cowboy and a barmaid. And in that moment a new, healing ability was discovered in Jenny's Neon Power. On the Dragon Kingdom, the Dark Force Armada succeeded in finding the Iron Queen and now are planning to take over the four ninja clans to their control. And what happened to Jenny during the moment she was talking to Jack? Guess you'll have to read Chapter 52!

"HYAH!"

The KindHearted Fairies, namely Avigne, Starfire, Aquamarine and Zoe Lightning, were actually residing in the Dragon Kingdom, and they actually saw the dark ninjas invading Stormtop Village. The first ninja clan they planned to gather was the Gossamer Clan. The four Fairies helped the spider ninjas fight off the Avenger ninjas, and they also made a split-up, dividing themselves in two teams.

One of the dark ninjas had trapped Avigne from behind and strung back a poisonous arrow using his bow. Avigne turned around to face the dark ninja, but Starfire launched a flying kick to his face, knocking him off to the ground.

"You all right?" Starfire asked.

"Thanks, Star!" Exclaimed Avigne happily.

After this, Starfire picked the arrow and inspected it.

"Thank goodness you weren't shot with this thing, Avigne."

"How come?" Asked Avigne confused.

"This is an arrow with lethal poison at the tip. I bet those dark ninjas wish to kill us, Avigne. We better watch out for the villagers too. These guys are dangerous."

"I understand." Replied Avigne. "We better tell this to the others before they get caught by these, anyways."

After the small chat, they went to action.

"Meteor Shower!" Yelled Satrfire as she launched meteor-like fire balls at the dark ninjas. The explosion of these fire balls resulted into a huge amount of fire in the village.

"Starfire's not making any good here, it seems." Said Aquamarine.

The Water Fairy flew up to the sky and summoned a strong rainstorm. Zoe Lightning joined her Fairy companion and together, they made a whole thunderstorm attack...

"KindHearted! Hurricane Attack!" Both yelled.

Lots and lots of lightning flashed in the now cloudy sky and some lightning bolts clapsed in the ground. Some hit the dark ninjas and sent them flying. And of course, the strong waves of water blew out the flames made by Starfire.

A large group of dark ninjas formed a line to fire more and more poisonous arrows at Starfire, who was seen flying and throwing fire beams at the soldiers of the Dark Force.

The Fire Fairy was running out of control, as she summoned fire into her hands and launched it in the form of rings at her enemies. She started remembering some of her past... which made her angrier.

"BLAST YOU TO HELL, DARK FREAKS!" She shouted ans launched the fire rings at the dark ninjas without mercy.

As the fire rings hit the dark ninjas, Starfire noticed that they were disintegrating into dust, and then into nothingness. She gasped and all the fire surrounding her faded.

Avigne was later seen dodging axes and arrows from the soldiers, until a green flash of light sailed past her and threw her to the ground.

"What the-?" She asked to herself.

"Hey there, babe." Said a male voice she didn't recognized pretty much.

She turned around and gasped. "Who are you?" She asked with fear.

As she stood up, Scourge The Hedgehog gave her a creepy glance, getting ready to fight her off.

"These varlets are causing more trouble than I thought." Muttered the Gothic Queen.

The Iron Queen chuckled. "Those insects have been fighting like this before, your highness. You'll never get accustomed to fight against them."

"Says you, dear." Said Deathblade. "Their fight has ended now." He added and snapped his fingers.

In just a pair of seconds, the Fairies' ability to fly and their powers were temporarily disabled by Deathblade's dark magic. The girls fell on their knees and their transformation faded away.

Deathblade laughed evilly. "Foolish children. You aren't clever enough to attack a dark wizard before your powers begone."

"No... this can't be happening!" Screamed Starfire, looking down at herself.

"Our transformations... they're gone!" Avigne exclaimed.

"And now that all of you are unable to use your powers, I shall give the dark ninjas the honor to break your minds."

"Avenger Clan! Get rid of them!" Shouted the Gothic Queen.

Just as the dark ninjas ran after the girls, both Queens and Deathblade Dark stood behind, laughing at the girls' acts of fear and distress.

"They're like rats rushing in a maze." Commented Deathblade.

"That does not matter. By now, we should get to our first Bride. The honor is all yours, Iron Queen."

"My pleasure, your highness." Purred the Iron Queen.

While the whole Dark Force was busy hunting the girls, the three villains headed to the headquarters of the Gossamer Clan. And Scourge seemed to have fun hunting the girls too, as he had found Annie/Avigne first and nearly attacked her, but the others helped her before he could smash her off.

Meanwhile, in Sand Blast City...

"Jenny!"

Jack was surprised to see Jenny in that state, and was also a bit afraid of losing her, despite his seriousness. He quickly scooped her up in his arms and ran back to the city...

The Chaotix sure won't like what has happened...

The next day...

The Chaotix were resting in the same room Jenny was the day before after another warning back in New Mobotropolis. They also returned alongside Dr. Quack so he could head back to the hospital to attend other patients. After that, they had received news from Nicole that the Iron Queen had escaped from her cell with new reinforcements. She then alerted the rest of the Freedom Fighters in case if that could affect anything.

The Republic of Acorn took notice of this as well and decided to alter the city's security walls with spy cameras to avoid the entrance of the villains.

All of this happened before the Chaotix returned to Sand Blast City to help Jenny.

And now the whole group was there. Vector, Charmy, Espio, Mighty, Ray and Julie-Su. Knuckles couldn't join them since he had to protect the Master Emerald.

It was 12:56 PM and the team just kept waiting. They expected to see Jenny to check on her and see if the warring between the Sand-Blasters and the Legion had ended, but nothing came.

Many minutes passed and no sign of Jenny. The group was starting to get tired and even fell asleep, except for Espio who was meditating in another corner of the room. He sure was worried about his friend. He was afraid of losing her to the Sand-Blasters. He was afraid of never seeing her anymore.

More time passed and still no sign of Jenny. It was one o' clock in the afternoon and the team was asleep already. It was then when Espio heard footsteps approaching from the outside. He could tell that whoever it was, it was running... and towards their direction.

And then... a huge burst blew the door open and Jack was seen carrying Jenny in his arms. The Chaotix snapped their eyes open and quickly stood up, and gasped when they saw Jenny unconscious.

"You!" Screamed Mighty. "How DARE you hurt such an innocent child?!"

"You seriously think I hurt her?" Jack asked. "I've been with her all the time. She felt safe by my side." He said, looking down at her.

"You suck at lying, rabbit!" Exclaimed Julie-Su, aiming her gun at him. "What did you do to her?!"

"I did nothing!" He exclaimed angrily. "Something weird just happened last night. I had nothing to do with that!"

"How are we supposed to believe in you, Jack?" Mighty asked menacingly. "You've harmed my sister, and now you're here, carrying another innocent child with you!"

They continued arguing for a pair of minutes. The Chaotix didn't believed in Jack that much. They always thought he harmed Jenny since they saw her in his arms. However, the Rabbit was always trying to explain what happened the night before, but it was nearly impossible to do so.

After the argument, Jenny was finally placed in a bed, covered by the blankets, still unconscious. The effect of the mysterious liquid the Legionized rabbit used in her didn't seemed to end.

And he and the Legionized barmaid were indeed fugitives from the Eggman Empire who now worked on their own to ruin anyone's lives, like they did with Jenny. They also gathered information about her by spying on her closest friends like Espio and the KindHearted Fairies.

After the bar incident the night before, they had escaped...

A while later...

The room where Jenny slept in had been completely quiet. The only thing that could be heard was Jenny's nice and calm breathing. Her chest slowly went up and down as she slept. And it was still unknown what had happened to her.

Soon after, Espio walked to her and sat at the edge of the bed, and felt her forehead. He remembered that she was sick, and was delighted to know that her fever was gone. Instead, she felt cold.

After that he rested his index finger gently over her side of the neck to feel her pulse. Normal. He sighed after this. He wondered why did she had to go through a lot to end like that... lying in a bed unconscious. Her instincts begging her to react, but she doesn't respond to anything... not even to his voice.

He tried and tried to make her wake up, but it was impossible. Because of whatever Jenny was injected with, it neved allowed her to wake for a certain amount of time.

"Come on, Jenny. Wake up..." He begged one last time and gently stroke her hand.

Was I standing in the dark? Was I dead? Was I dreaming? All my dreams were pitch black. Light never seemed to appear or shine down to me. Everything was dark, like the hearts of the foes I needed to face... like hers.

I've been having dreams of some wicked woman and a certain man. And they were alongside Finitevus, Scourge and his crew (except Lightning), and... the one I've defeated twice and still hate... the Iron Queen.

I didn't knew why I still dreamed with her. I've beat her up when I became Royal Sun Goddess, and she still appears in my dreams! How does this work out?

Anyways, I started seeing a small dot, maybe of light. It was expanding. And the more it expanded, the more everything began turning white. Then I started hearing voices...

"Guys, she's waking up!"

"Really? It's about time. I was about to scream at her to wake up."

If only I could giggle at that...

The voices were becoming more clear, and sure enough, I began feeling myself. The voices continued.

"No, Charmy. You could scare the creeps out of her, and she wouldn't have a good time then. And remember, she might be weak by now, which means she doesn't have much strength to, like, scream or something." Said a female voice. "She must be calm, so let's try not to be rough on her, okay?"

At that moment, I started twitching my fingers...

"Hey look! She's opening her eyes!"

Oh... and that too.

"Jenny, can you hear me?"

That voice made my heart pound. I didn't had to be smart enough to know who it was...

It was Espio.

And hey, I haven't heard of someone I was with last night...

"...Jack?" I whispered. I was so weak that all I could do was whispering. "Where are you?"

My senses were returning very slowly. I barely felt myself, but I was too weak to move. There's when I heard several sounds, then I felt something stabbing my right arm. I groaned.

"It's just a small dose of adrenaline. It should work on her right away." Said the same female voice.

And that thing did worked. I could feel strength gathering into my arms and legs, my breathing went a bit faster and my heart fluttered faster and stronger against my chest. When all the energy ran through my body, I gasped and sat up in the bed.

"What happened?!" I screamed.

"Jenny, thank goodness! Are you okay?" Asked a concerned Espio.

I suddenly held my head. I felt like if I were spinning. "I guess I feel a bit dizzy... and my stomach hurts too. But I can barely remember what had happened... And speaking of which, where did Jack go?"

"Jenny, do you seriously trust that guy?" Asked Mighty.

"Yeah!" I exclaimed, my voice was getting like... like those people who drink more than just enough. "And besides, he hasn't done anything to me. He's been caring for me since we entered that stupid bar last night."

"You... are you kidding?" Asked Mighty.

"Are you drunk?!" Snapped Julie-Su.

"No! You guys, I'm 16, and I don't drink such thing! How am I supposed to drink such nasty stuff like that Mobian whisky Jack drunk? Are you guys insane or what?"

"Tell me this isn't happening." Said Espio and face-palmed himself.

"No! I'm serious! I honestly don't drink those disgusting things! And I asked for fresh water last night, nothing else."

Sincerely, if I were lying, I would let out a HUGE smile... but I didn't.

"If I were drunk, by now I would-"

Something made me stop talking again. The horrible sensation in my stomach had returned, and I jammed my mouth. I tried to say something else, but I couldn't.

"Hey, Jenny. You all right?" Asked Vector.

I shook my head. I was getting scared at what was going on. I quickly dashed off the room, with no shoes on, and searched for a trash can. The ground was nearly burning my feet, which caused me to feel worst. I rushed towards a trash can I saw nearby, pushing off some people to pass through. When I finally made it there, I did something horrible...

I emptied up my stomach with a horrendous vomit.

That made me feel sick again. I felt like if I had some sort of virus. As I emptied myself up, I began breathing heavily through my mouth. I kept on vomiting... hoping that it could end sometime.

It was then when I heard footsteps approaching. I wiped off my mouth with a hanky I took from the box and threw it on the trash can, then I looked away, not wanting to have any more nausea.

I sat over my legs and rested my hands on the hot ground. This warmth was more than enough to make me feel better, but it didn't. I felt worst. Sick, tired, dizzy... and so hungry that I could eat five pizzas for breakfast.

And speaking of which, my stomach grumbled and started aching. By then, hands rest over my shoulders. They were bandaged hands. The stranger slowly helped me up and wrapped an arm behind my back.

"It's okay, darling. We mean no harm."

Now I was getting scared... because the one who took me was a Legionnaire.

I was slowly carried by the arms by two Legionnaires as they escorted me to the room I just saw when I met the Baron. One of them let go of my arm and opened the curtain aside. I sighed. I couldn't walk anymore. The Legionnaire holding my left arm quickly led me inside and let go of my arm. I laid my back on the bed as the Legionnaire covered me with the sheets. I breathed out, tired... tired of being sick. Tired of not taking any actions to save Sand Blast City... and tired of remembering every detail from last night.

"I'll get the Baron. It'll be just a minute." I heard the Legionnaire say. And sure enough, it was the Legionized female I almost attacked.

I sighed again and stared at the ceiling. I was nervous to see Grandmaster Beauregard again, and nervous at his reaction when he sees me. I could feel my nerves freaking me off. I was hoping not to panic, so I rolled to my left side. My stomach grumbled in protest and started aching.

"Ah!" I groaned. "My goodness! This won't end!"

And just then, the curtain door slid aside and two Legionnaires came with medical equipment, and later on, Grandmaster Beauregard came in as well. I sighed and rested a hand over my forehead.

"Why-? What is this child doing here?" He asked a bit serious.

I heard the female Legionnaires talking to the Grandmaster. I couldn't understand what they were saying since my mind was somewhere else. Yeah, I was getting a little tired, I felt like if I were entering my dream world.

I then felt a cold hand rest over my shoulder. I opened my eyes a little and saw Beauregard next to me. He had kind of a sad and concerned look in his eyes. He showed a small smile, kind of meaning that he expected to see me.

"You're looking pale, mah child." He said staring down at me. "Care to explain what's going on with you?"

"I think I'm sick, Baron sir." I said weakly. "I guess your Legionnaires brought me here to help me."

"She must've been infected with the West Mobian virus. She's got all the symptoms and her analysis results marked positive."

"West Mobian virus? I haven't heard of that before... Strange... could that be what that guy injected me with?"

He sighed and took a seat, then he rested his hands over his metallic cane and then leaned his head forward.

"But what I don't understand is why was I suddenly brought here. I mean, I just went outside and then... a Legionnaire finds me." I continued.

"Ah have heard about what happened to you last night."

"You did?" I asked.

He nodded. "Ah sent out my Legionnaires to look for you... Ah thought the Sand-Blasters had hurt you, mah child."

"They haven't. I was with Jack last night, and when we went to a local bar, we were attacked by unknown fugitives from Eggman... fugitive Legionnaires, I presume."

"Sand Blast City has heard much about those two." Said Beauregard.

"You know them?" I asked, finally relieved to hear some answers.

"They have worked for the Legion, and now they escaped, seeking for newest agents to ruin us all one way or another."

"So this is what's causing the problem, I guess." I said after him. "Do you actually know why they're the cause to all of this? And why does Jack still believes it was you guys who create chaos in the city?"

"The Legion hasn't found enough information about the criminals yet."

"So they're wild and free now." I said. "We better stop them before they plan to do something again. And I have to explain Jack what's going on too."

"Not 'til you recover, mah child." He said patting my shoulder and got up from the bed.

Beauregard turned to the Legionnaires and said "Now, take it easy on her. Just do your best to heal her, and she'll be on her way. Am Ah understood?"

"Yes, Baron." The two Legionnaires nodded in union.

I sighed when he left. I wished he'd be back here. I felt so scared when he wasn't around. I knew that perhaps a Legion group could just catch a victim and then Legionize whoever it is... but these Legionnaires... they weren't the same as other Legion chapters. I'd say these guys only wish for freedom and peace.

I laid my head back in the pillow as one of the Legionnaires opened a case full of medical equipment. I took an eye on what they were digging out, and quickly sat up when I saw the Legionnaire picking out a syringe. My nerves went high. I held a hand onto my chest, feeling my fluttering heartbeat. I let out a shaky sigh and tried to get the Legionnaire's attention.

"Uh... isn't there another way to heal me? I'm just not very accustomed to needles." I said nervously.

The Legionnaires came to me, I backed off a little, but one of them held out my left arm and pinned it. I groaned and tried to let go.

"Please! I can't endure needles that much!" I screamed, even more nervous.

I let out a small cry as the Legionnaire holding the needle held up my right arm.

"Don't ya worry, it will be just a small pinch." She said, extending the word 'small' weirdly. "Now then, hold still."

She held my arm tight and inserted the needle into my skin... I screamed...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

Later that day...

I was finally out of their quarters. I saw all the Legionnaires working and walking here and there. My right arm felt like if it was full of air like a balloon, and it hurt so bad. They weren't the best working with the needles, I think.

At least the virus I had was finally gone. But it had a bit of a side effect. I felt a bit drowsy and heavy, but the rest of me was fine. At least I could walk a little.

After the small moment with the Legion and their nice Grandmaster, I decided to take flight as Neon Lady, just to enjoy the nice and calm moment before I arrive to where the Sand-Blasters were. I also had to speak to the Chaotix and give them the information they were looking for. I had all the answers. I knew about the mysterious fugitive couple. They had injected me with the West Mobian virus, and if I were to arrive late, they would infect the whole population of Sand Blast City with this virus I just had...

Now I understood why Jack was so worried about defending his city...
