Chapter 42: Escape or Bust

It was time to get serious. No more messing around with things to come; they had a golden opportunity and it was the only chance they would get so failure was not an option. As soon as they entered the outside premises of the temple, they had to kick things into overdrive. Anything slower than their fastest would lead to failure.

Their hearts were pounding rapidly against their chests, but they were determined to see this operation through. The main obstacle in their way was gone for the moment and the second obstacle was just a giant shadow that was bound to the temple. After the two parts of the key made efforts on their training, the shadow of Dragonis began reserving his energy for his revival, meaning he can no longer send a shadow out as a spectral.

He was very nervous about this plan of his mate's. Out of the two, he had very little faith about the plan working positively. He did trust her words; it was her after all that made him stay sane. However, the last few months have been very detrimental to his mentality. He couldn't think straight most of the time. Sometimes he wondered how things would be different if this happened or that occurred. He even wondered how things would be if he wasn't born.

Mizu didn't let Blake know of his inner thoughts. He didn't want to make her any more angry with him than he already has. That was one of his biggest concerns, making her mad. She told him she loved him, still wanted to be with him, but he always felt like she didn't want anything else to do with him. Again, he never told Blake this, as she would definitely be angry with him if he did. Regret, disappointment, sadness, and rage; he experienced all of these. There were so many things he regretted, so many things that made him disappointed and disgusted with himself. They eventually led to sadness and rage, but he did every single thing for her. He did everything for Blake.

But, he knew she would never forgive him for his choices. He betrayed everyone; himself, his friends, his family, and her. He was worse than trash, lower than scum. Even looking at his own reflection made Mizu bare his fangs in disgust. He couldn't even stand to look at himself without muttering traitor or monster. It wouldn't make a different no matter what he did. Nothing he did would redeem his actions. Mizu had to face facts; he was a traitor, plain and simple.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Little Miss Kitty and my darling Mizu," Blake stopped and clenched her fists. She began narrowing her eyes as a hiss escaped her lips.

The Faunus couple turned around and spotted Kappa. She approached them with a hand on her waist and her eyes mainly set on Mizu.

"What are you doing here?" Blake inquired. 'What ARE you doing here fish breath?'

"So hostile," Kappa shook her head. "I was merely saying hello to Mizu. He doesn't look too good."

"What? No, I'm fine," the Faunus wolf waved it off. "Blake and I was just about to go hunting."

"Ooh is that so? Do you mind if I come along?" the water dark soldier requested. She batted her eyelashes at Mizu, who for the most part, found himself unable to respond.

"Yes we mind," Blake answered back for him. She glared a little in Mizu's direction for not being able to handle a little eyelash, which made Kappa frown. Not for Blake's interruption but for glaring evilly at Mizu. "You have no reason to join us on our hunting trip so don't try sticking your nose in it."

"I didn't ask you," Kappa snarled. "I asked Mizu; and he hasn't said no."

"That's because you're making him uncomfortable," Blake stated, taking a step forward as Kappa smiled mischievously.

"Really? He just seems shy to me," Kappa placed her hands behind her back. "It's really cute to be honest, but I'd hate to make my darling Mizu uncomfortable," she turned and winked at Mizu. "See you around suga," she waved and left the Faunus couple alone.

"Suga?" Mizu repeated with a brow raised.

"It's her way of saying sugar," Blake grasped his hand and pulled him away. "Don't worry about her; we have more important things to take care of."

"Y-Yeah…right," Mizu responded softly.

Watching them leave, Kappa remained fixated on Mizu. She could see how broken he was. His eyes told her eveeything she wanted to know; he was lost, unable to figure out what to do. The only thing keeping him going was her. She was the reason for his perseverance.

"Oh my little darling Mizu," Kappa balled up her fists. She couldn't stand to see the wolf in such a state. He looked entirely different from how he looked when Kappa first laid eyes on him. He was so confident and knightly, giving off an aura that swore to protect those he held dear, but as time progressed, Kappa saw that confidence give way. The dullness in his eyes replaced the righteous gleam that once occupied them. His heart wasn't as strong as before; it became more fragile, more susceptible to danger. It just wasn't there anymore. And lastly, his mind; it's been shattered. He couldn't think straight at all, always pondering for hours upon hours. Kappa's heart, even though Grimm technically do not have one, cried out for the wolf. "What should I do though?"

Kappa bit her bottom lip. She wanted to separate Mizu from Blake, as the water dark soldier considered the feline one of the main problems of Mizu's ailments. Kappa knew Mizu's reasons for doing all this; he was doing it for Blake, which was the sweetest thing Kappa ever heard. But, instead of viewing it the same way, Blake took it upon herself to make Mizu suffer even more. That's why Kappa never liked Blake; she didn't understand Mizu like she did. She didn't see what Kappa could see. The eyes never lie, nor does the heart; and Mizu's heart is crying out for redemption.

"I know what to do," the water dark soldier chased after the couple. "I'm going to set you straight."

They finally set foot on the outside premises. The temple was surrounded with trees, water, and mountains, completely hidden from anyone who might trespass. Everywhere outside the temple was Mizu and Blake's hunting spot; they would scour the fields for anything they can use as food. Thankfully, Mizu is a wolf and hunting is a lot easier for him. Blake didn't have that luxury given her basic feline properties. Her job was finding fish and berries while Mizu hunted the meat and firewood. They even had to make new clothing from leaves and trees, but both can agree that wearing nature clothing around the other did not help settle their lust.

"Mizu, this is where you come in," Blake stated. "Try and see if you can find a scent to follow."

The wolf didn't respond and nodded. His head tilted upward as his nose went to work on a smell. Everything smelt foul to the wolf, but he had to do it.

"That way," he pointed a finger in the western direction. "Malevolent took off that way."

"You're sure?" Blake asked for clarification.

"I can never mistake his smell," Mizu responded. "He left a long while ago, but his smell still lingers. It's hard to say how long ago he has been gone, but it doesn't seem like he'll be returning any time soon."

"That's a relief to my ears," Blake kissed his cheek for a job well done, making the wolf blush. "Now then, let's head in that direction and see if we can't find any allies on the way."

Mizu nodded and entered a four-legged stance. "Hop on my back," he told her.

"Why?" she tilted her head.

"It will be faster if I take the lead. With you on my back, all I have to worry about is finding the right scent. So, hop on my back and hold on tight," Mizu explained. Blake couldn't argue with his logic. He was the faster one of the two and the only one who could keep the scent.

"Okay, I'll leave it to you then," Blake hopped on and held on as tight as he instructed. It felt weird to her though, wrong even. She was mounted on Mizu as if he was an animal, a pure normal animal. The feline was about to comment, but Mizu was already off with great speed. Even with Blake's weight on his back, he moved very fast across the field.

The trip remained in silence as Mizu ran great distances. He had to go through a very long cave that just never seemed to end, through a maze of trees and bushes that looked like a hurricane went over it, and over some water that made great use of his semblance.

Mizu followed his nose faithfully. It hasn't failed him yet and he doubt it would now. But as he followed it, his passenger was lost in deep thought. Blake hadn't said a single word to Mizu since he started running. She thought about the past months she spent trapped with him; it was a hellish experience in that pit. Mizu was the only thing keeping her safe. Whether he knew it or not, Blake was grateful for her mate being so protective of her. She didn't trust anyone in that hell except Mizu, but the poor wolf went through some very hellish experiences as well. Surviving two months against the strongest Dark Soldier was no small feat. Not only that, but he spent a good amount of time trying to figure out the drawings on the temple walls; it proved little results. The drawings were practically impossible to decipher.

She was rather hard on him at most points, but that was because she was infuriated with his choices.

"But I did it all for you," she remembered Mizu telling her. Many times she was reminded exactly why Mizu did what he did; it was all for her. On the outside, she should be livid with him, but deep down, she was shocked and moved by his dedication to her. He took a strike from Adam for her, made it his mission to comfort her after he showed up, and even did his absolute best to protect her when he deemed himself as a traitor.

"Mizu," she said his name softly.

"Yeah?" the wolf managed to keep his stride. "Are you getting uncomfortable? I can slow down if you want."

"No, that's not it. Let's stop for a second," she replied. "I want to talk to you… about us."

Those last words made Mizu stop instantly. Blake hopped off his back while he straightened his posture. They were in the middle of another forest maze. This one was at least three times bigger than the first forest maze, as Mizu hadn't noticed any valuable chances since they entered it.

"About us?" he repeated those words hesitantly and nervously. Blake rarely talked about their relationship; she made it clear to him that she wanted to continue being his mate.

"Yes," she nodded back. "I've been doing some thinking and I want to ask you some things regarding it."

Mizu swallowed the lump in his throat. Why was she worried about it now of all times? They were supposed to be escaping, not talking about their relationship. They can do that if and when they make it out, if they make it out that is.

'Please not now.' Mizu shook his head internally. 'Please don't do this right now Blake.'

"Do we have to talk about this now?" He asked aloud. "If we stop moving, Dragonis's minions are sure to find us; we need to keep moving."

"Just one question," Blake stared back with pleading eyes. She knew the situation at hand was more important than their relationship, but she couldn't wait any longer to tell him. "Let me ask just one question."

Mizu opened his mouth, but no words made it through. He closed it and nodded once as a sigh escaped through his nose.

"What do you want Mizu?" the million dollar question was asked. The wolf raised a brow in confusion. 'What do I want? What does she mean?'

Blake bit her bottom lip at the expression on Mizu's face. The confusion sketched across his countenance was a clear indication that he had no idea what Blake was talking about.

"Do you remember what you said to me when I asked why you decided to help revive Dragonis?" she asked another question. This time, Mizu felt a spear pierce through his heart. He didn't want to be reminded of his biggest disappointment and betrayal. He even took a step back, which didn't go unnoticed by Blake, who grabbed his wrist to keep him from running away. "Don't run," she said softly.

"I-I," the wolf couldn't find the words. He didn't want to find any words. Right now, he just wanted to run. He wanted to run away from the never-ending guilt swarming around inside him. That's all he felt; guilt, anger, sadness, disappointment, and betrayal. How can Blake even stand to look at him with pleading eyes after the awful things he committed? He didn't understand; why did she stay with him despite his deeds? Why did she tell him about her ability to leave? She should've left him rotting in that hell hole until either death took him or he killed himself instead. He didn't understand; why was she still worried about him? He was a monster, a being worse than trash and scum that isn't even fit to stick to the bottom of someone's shoe.

"I don't understand," he gritted his teeth. His shiny black hair covered his crimson eyes, concealing the tears that were filling up their corners. He yanked his arm away from Blake, surprising her greatly at his sudden burst of strength. "I just don't understand!" he backed away again. "Why? Just why?"

"Why what?" Blake approached him cautiously. "What don't you understand Mizu?"

"I can't…I don't," the wolf backed away once more. Each time Blake stepped forward, Mizu stepped backward. For the first time in a long time, he felt frightened, afraid, unable to act; he couldn't do anything.

"Mizu, please," Blake pleaded with him. "Tell me what's wrong."

"No!" He exclaimed. "I-I can't," he said more softly.

"Why?" his mate questioned back. She didn't have a single clue as to why Mizu was acting this way. She could see his fright, his anguish, but she couldn't figure out why. She could understand if it was something that happened before, such as remembering his father's death or the hellish time he spent in that temple, but other than that, she didn't know. "Why are you afraid to tell me?"

"Because he's afraid of making you angry," a familiar female's voice spoke up instead. The couple knew that voice very well, and Blake loathed it. Mizu hoped it wasn't really her though. "Do you really not know why he's so afraid? And here I thought mates had a great understanding of one another."

"What are you doing here?" Blake hissed at Kappa, who appeared with two Alpha Beowulves and a Cheetah like Grimm. Her expression appeared serious and stern, no ounce of playfulness in her eyes. The water Dark Soldier approached the Faunus couple with her sights once again set primarily on Mizu.

"I should be the one asking you that," she turned her sights on Blake. "So you decided to escape huh and take Mizu with you; I guess you do have a heart."

"And what does that supposed to mean?" Blake hissed again. "Did you think I was going to leave Mizu in that rotten hell hole?"

"Truthfully, yes, I did expect you to," Kappa returned Blake's intense glare with her own. The three Grimm growled menacingly at the feline Faunus, but Kappa raised her hand, signaling to wait in standby position.

"You're really making me out to be a real evil person," Blake stated.

"That's because you are evil, more so than anything my master or brethren can accomplish at least," the Dark Soldier looked back at Mizu, who was frozen in place, looking as lost as ever. He shook his head adamantly at her, pleading her not to say anything, but Kappa refused. "But that's beside the point; I'm here to bring Mizu back to my master."

"Never," Blake grabbed Mizu's arm and pulled him away from the water Dark Soldier. "I won't let you have him."

"Who said you had the choice?" Kappa snapped her fingers. Immediately, the two Alpha Beowulves went on the offensive, charging at Blake like mad bulls. They raised their claws and prepared to strike. Blake got into a defensive stance. Even without Gambol Shroud, living in the wilds allowed her to create her own set of claws. While they were nothing compared to the ones Mizu possessed, they were still lethal weapons.

She never had a chance to use them though, as a swift crimson shadow danced around her and engaged the Beowulves.

Mizu struck the first Beowulf with a fierce kick to the snout and then leaped over the second before it drove its sharp talons into the Faunus.

Blake and Kappa locked eyes as their precious wolf engaged the two Beowulves.

"You should be proud," Kappa started the conversation. Her words were laced with venom. "Not every gal gets a man so dedicated to them."

"Is that all you talk about?" Blake inquired back. "Every time we chat, it's Mizu this and Mizu that; you're like a broken record."

Kappa clenched her fists together tightly and barred her teeth. Her dark aura flared, forcing Blake on the defensive. The feline had to be careful. Despite her rivalry with the water Grimm, Kappa is still a Dark Soldier. She can summon a large number of Grimm at just a snap of her fingers and sic 'em all on the feline Faunus.

"That's because every time I see you, I have this unyielding urge to rip you apart. You, who Mizu cares so deeply about, makes him suffer so much," the water soldier retorted. "You make me sick," she spat insultingly.

"There you go again, accusing me of causing Mizu's pain and suffering," Blake spoke up. She wasn't going to let this fish monster falsely accuse her of anything. "It's your master and brethren that keeps making him suffer. Who was it that killed his father? It certainly wasn't me; your brethren did all that. You are the ones that cause grief and destruction everywhere you walk."

"And yet, who does he always place above him?" Kappa questioned next. "Despite everything he went through, he always placed you above everything else. As long as you were protected, he didn't care one bit what happened to him. My little hun will take any kind of punishment so long as you are unharmed; and it's because of his dedication that I despise you so much."

"So you're jealous because I have a guy that loves me. Get over yourself; what person would care about a Grimm anyway. They're only good once dead," Blake hissed back. Kappa trembled with rage. She watched Mizu handle the Beowulves with ease; the training he received from Malevolent was proving excellent results.

"My hun would," she told Blake. "My precious suga would've protected me like he does you; and do you know why?"

Blake raised an eyebrow.

"Because he and I are connected in a lot of ways," Kappa stated. "I've already told you how we share the same element, but take in our personalities. Mizu is a little reserved and aloof while I am cheerful, except when I see your mug, and soothing to be around, much like the water we command. It can be smooth and gentle, or rough and fierce. As long as I kept trying to befriend him, I would've won his heart, because I would've been there to help him. I wouldn't let him suffer like you did."

"And why do you constantly assume I make him suffer?" Blake gritted her teeth. "I've been with Mizu the entire time, acting as his soothe sayer while keeping him sane. I gave him lots of love, chances to take his mind off things, and even my womanhood," Kappa didn't want to remember such events. That was one of the things that truly infuriated her.

"And what about the time after he decided to help my master? You weren't the most comforting then and you damn sure ain't now. The moment he agreed to help Master Dragonis, you felt betrayed and angry. Mizu shattered your heart and any chances of reforming it. Now you don't want anything to do with him, you don't want to see him again. You'd rather leave him here and go someplace with people you can trust," Kappa let her words sink in. The only silence became Mizu's battle grunts and the Beowulves' howls.

Blake was seething with anger. She desperately wanted to rip this fish freak a new one, but without any real useful weapons, the fight would be over before it even began.

"And you want to know the worst part?"

Blake narrowed her eyes dangerously. She normally wouldn't care about anything Kappa had to say, but the way the water Dark Soldier stared at her and Mizu sparked the feline's curiosity. She still didn't care about what the Grimm had to say; however, she knew something regarding Mizu.

"Mizu-

"DON'T!" Mizu exclaimed, effectively halting the Grimm's statement. The two females turned their heads to see the wolf driving his claws through the first Beowulves's torso. The beast exploded into black smoke, and the second quickly engaged the Faunus. "Blake! Don't listen to her; she's only telling lies!" Mizu avoided the overhead strike from the Beowulf.

"See? Even he knows what I'm about to say," Kappa gave Mizu an apologetic look. She didn't want to hurt him even more than he already was, but the truth needed to be revealed. "I can see the look in his eyes. Everything I need to know I can find out by looking into them. And do you want to know what I see? Would you like to know what he keeps hiding from you?"

"Blake, do not listen!" Mizu yelled back, blocking another strike from the Beowulf and then unleashing a counterattack. Between stopping Kappa and fighting off the Beowulf, Mizu had his paws tied. He tried to ignore the Grimm in order to stop the Dark Soldier, but the Alpha Beowulf stayed on top of him, never letting him through. "Don't trust her words."

"You see it don't you?" Kappa asked the feline. "The adamant way he doesn't want me to speak; he knows, but he doesn't want you to know."

Blake remained conflicted. On one hand, she wanted to know what Mizu was keeping from her and why, but on the other hand, she didn't want to force the information out of him. What to do? What to do?

"He feels the exact same way you know," Kappa continued. "Everything I told you, that's how he feels."

"That's not true! She's lying Blake!" Mizu screamed again. His fist slammed into the Beowulves's snout.

"You see? Why would he deny it so adamantly if I was lying?" Kappa questioned. "He doesn't want me to tell you because he's afraid of you being angry with him. He knows you hate him, he knows you want nothing more to do with him, but he didn't want to tell you because the fear of making you angry overpowered him."

"No," Blake denied it. "You're lying," she claimed. "Mizu did all that to keep me safe. While it's true I did felt betrayed for his actions, I never wished anything bad on him."

"Then why do you get so mad when he tries to hold your hand? Why can you never look him in the eye and say he's forgiven?" Kappa interrogated. She focused more on Mizu rather than Blake. "It's because deep down, you can't forgive him. You can't stand to come into contact with him," she didn't let Blake have a say. "You claim that you still love him but that's all a lie. Every word you tell him is nothing but a lie; and he knows that. Don't you hun?"

The cat Faunus turned her head to the lone wolf, which finally dispatched of the two Grimm. The Cheetah like Grimm remained and entered an angry stance, ready to pounce on the enemy per Kappa's command.

"Isn't there anything you wish to share with your mate?"

Mizu remained silent, his hair concealing his eyes and teeth biting down on his bottom lip.

"Mizu." Blake stepped towards him. "What else is there that I should know?"

Still no response.

"It's alright hun," Kappa reassured him. "Speak your mind; at least one of us won't be angry with you."

He never responded. He didn't even give a nod or shake of his head as a substitute. His entire frame trembled with fright.

"You see?" Kappa spoke up. "This is how much you've broken him; he can't bear the thought of facing you after his blunders. He knew how much it hurt and it tore him up inside. You mean everything to him. You were his light, his reason for staying sane, and what did you do? You took advantage of his kindness and crushed his already broken heart into tiny pieces."

"I did no such thing!" Blake yelled at the water soldier. "I would never take advantage of Mizu."

"Then why is he so afraid of telling you something? You had to have done something to make him so afraid of you; that doesn't sound like something a lover should do," Kappa placed her hands on her hips. "What do you think Mizu? You've been really quiet."

Mizu was still silent. He had no idea what to do, how to proceed. He tried to focus on the lack of Grimm. Kappa was the only one to find him when her master would most likely send more Dark Soldiers to overwhelm and bring him back. But Kappa was the only one to arrive.

"Mizu," the wolf let out a sharp gasp. Blake managed to get in front of him during his contemplation and shake him by the arms. "Look at me," she requested. He didn't like the look in her eye, those amber eyes pleading with him so vocally.

He was hesitant, but Mizu did like his mate wanted and looked her in the eye.

"What's the problem? What do you not want me to hear?"

And still no response. Mizu simply looked away.

"It hurts doesn't it feline?" Kappa smirked.

"Shut it," said feline retorted. Her eyes never left Mizu's face. Staring so close at him, Blake could see the myriad emotions swelling up within.

"I'm sorry," she planted a chaste kiss on her lips while embracing him tightly, deepening their kiss into one more passionately.

Kappa's face turned livid while Mizu's turned into shock. He tried to hold back the tears wanting to fall down his cheeks.

The wolf touched Blake's cheeks with his hands and looked deeply into her eyes, showing her his tears.

"I still intend to get us out of here," he bit his bottom lip. "Even if it means breaking our promise," he whispered.

"Wha-" the breath left Blake's lungs as Mizu drove his fist into her gut. She heaved heavily and felt her legs give way under her weight, but Mizu held her in his arms the entire time. Kappa looked on in utter shock.

"W-Why?" Blake fell unconscious in her mate's arms.

Kappa never expected Mizu to knock Blake unconscious.

"I'm sorry Blake, but I've made my decision. Your life is much more precious than someone like me," the wolf raised his arm and extended it towards Kappa and the Cheetah, namely, the Cheetah, which felt a strong force slap its head. "Regardless of how you feel, I have done nothing but cause pain and suffering. You would be better off without me," Mizu ushered the Cheetah forward.

Kappa was even more amazed by Mizu's efforts. He forced the Cheetah forward and placed Blake on its back. His eyes were glowing red, which was the color aura coursing around him.

"I promised I would get you to your friends and that's exactly what I'm going to do," he snapped his fingers. The Cheetah let out a growl and took off with its iconic speed. Now the only ones left were Mizu and Kappa. The latter felt a giant grin curl her lips upwards as she watched the Cheetah carry an unconscious Blake to safety.

"My, my, this was highly unexpected," she commented. "Are you sure you wanted to do this suga?"

Mizu stared off in the direction where the Grimm cheetah was headed. His hands trembled and body shook. His legs wobbled vigorously until they couldn't stand it anymore.

Mizu fell to his knees, head hung low as he stared at the grassy land. He heard Kappa's footsteps rush to him.

"Don't," he told her. "Just stay away," the water Dark Soldier stopped running and fixed Mizu with a confused stare.

"I won't," she walked forward again. "This is what I've wanted. This is what you wanted," she responded back.

"I didn't want any of this!" Mizu clenched his fists. He didn't care that his sharp claws dug into his skin and drew blood. He didn't care that he was alone with the enemy who was ordered to capture and retrieve him. He didn't care about any of that; his cares went out to his unconscious mate.

Malevolent told him a while back that like him and other Dark Soldiers, he too could command Grimm. He couldn't summon his own, but command ones already on the battlefield. But his commands were unique. Kappa is a Dark Soldier like Epsilon and Zeke; however, they are not like Alpha, who is the strongest of the Dark Soldiers. Mizu is not like Alpha either, as there are Dark Soldiers able to defeat him, but his commands are as high as Alpha's; and as such, he can essentially override Dark Soldiers' command over Grimm. Dragonis and Alpha have final saying though. Their commands are supreme and cannot be overridden.

"None of this comes remotely close to anything I would have wanted."

"Maybe, maybe not; but there's nothing you can do about it," Kappa kneeled behind the wolf and wrapped her arms around him, mixing her dark aura with his. "Don't worry; I'm here now. I won't let you suffer any longer."

Mizu's trembling stopped. His crimson aura turned darker once mixed with Kappa's, whose smile grew wider. The cheetah that took Blake was nowhere in sight. She was gone, and Kappa had the opportunity she desired to be with her hun. However, Kappa knew it wouldn't be easy to win Mizu over, but with the state of his heart, it shouldn't take much to do so. He was so broken that Kappa could hold him for eternity and he would never notice or mind.

"Yes, I'll take good care of you now," she reassured him. Her smile grew ever larger.

"But you'll only waste your time," Mizu stated. "The cheetah that took Blake will lead the rest back."

"What?" Kappa perked up.

"If I know Blake, and I do, she will demand that the Cheetah lead them and everyone else they come across back to the temple," Mizu explained. A tiny smile tugged at his lips; he could still make amends with everyone by helping them find the master.

"Not if they destroy the cheetah first," Kappa secretly hoped that would happen. She never wanted to see that blasted feline again, especially with everyone Mizu held dear. She wouldn't allow them to take him away, not after finally getting the chance to be rid of that feline.

"They won't," was all Mizu said. He looked at his claws, the things that he loathed so much at the beginning. Now he was unsure about his feelings towards them. He hated them at first, but valued their usefulness and abilities, but he remained unsure about them. "If they do, they'll destroy the only guide to Dragonis."

"Tch, you place a lot of faith in your friends," Kappa released Mizu and stood back from him. "Do you really think they can stop my master?"

Mizu rose to his knees and faced the water Dark Soldiers.

"There's no room for failure," he said.

"I see," Kappa narrowed her eyes and raised her right hand, causing Mizu to raise a brow in confusion. "Then let's see them get out of this mess," she snapped her fingers and then whistled real loudly. Her whistle spread across the land, over the horizon. Mizu nearly covered his ears from the high pitch.

"What did you?" his question was cut short when the ground beneath him shook violently. His canine traits kicked in and the wolf fell on the grass.

Over the horizon, hordes among hordes of Grimm closed in on the Faunus and Dark Soldier. Ranging from Beowulves, Nevermores, Ursas, even Wyverns, Raptors, Cyclops, Cobras, Anacondas, and many more, millions of Grimm began marching, or slithering, across the field. Mizu's eyes grew as wide as can be, mouth open agape as he could only stare at the large plethora of Grimm.

"What? What is this?" he questioned while trying to process so many Grimm.

"This," Kappa spread her arms as if inviting Mizu in. "Is my special battalion, but it's not done yet."

As if on the cue, water erupted from the ground like a geyser followed by three shadows. The shadows leaped off the top of the geyser and landed in a kneeling position around Kappa. Next, again from the water, two water Serpents emerged, one highly ferocious looking with long whiskers on either side of its face and another that was more slender and graceful than its counterpart with shiny hair. Five set of crimson eyes set on Mizu, who took a precautionary step backwards.

"There's one more missing," Kappa snapped her fingers again.

The water exploded more in size, spreading out in a wider area. Rain drops fell to the ground as the geyser split open. Mizu could see a pair of hands emerge and split the geyser in two as if opening a door.

"This one is my favorite," Kappa walked to the emerging Grimm. Mizu narrowed his eyes and took another precautionary step back. It was like looking in a mirror, an evil mirror that is, but unlike with Malevolent, this mirror was exactly, aura and all, like Mizu. The way the mirror image stood was identical to Mizu, the broad shoulder, face covered, and claws ready stance was every bit like Mizu's posture.

"Hun," Kappa wrapped her arms around the Shadow Mizu's neck from behind. "This your shadow. Every aspect of you was put into him when I created him. He has your wolf like nature, your strength, everything, but unlike you," the shadow kneeled and grasped Kappa's hand before placing a soft kiss on the back of it. "He's solely devoted to me. I call him Zu."

The water geyser slowly died out, but the massive army of Grimm continued to march.

"I was hoping it wouldn't come to this," Kappa stepped forward. "But it seems I have more work to do," she raised her right hand again. "I won't let your friends succeed. I'll kill every human and Faunus here if I have to, but you," she pointed at Mizu. "I have special plans for you."

Mizu growled and unleashed his claws. Shadow Mizu reacted the same way, intercepting the wolf with its own set of claws ready.

"Now now, there's no need for any of that," Kappa stated. She snapped her fingers, alerting the Shadow Mizu to come back. The six monsters she summoned gathered around her. "Meet my strongest six creations, the Sinister Six. I had Alpha and my master create this army for me. Since they did so, you cannot override their commands. They gave me control over them but they hold total supremacy; and with Alpha and Master Dragonis as their creators, there's nothing stopping them from annihilating this world."

"I won't let you," Mizu charged at Kappa, but was tackled to the ground by Zu.

"There's nothing you can do to stop them hun," Kappa hovered above the Mizu's with her hands on her hips. "Pretty soon, everyone you love will perish; that includes Blake. Once that happens, you will proceed where Alpha left off and bring my master back in the world. After he destroys it, you, Zu, and I will live together happily ever after," Kappa giggled.
