He flinched as he felt his bruised ribs and he couldn't help the low hiss leaving his lips. Well he couldn't be that surprised it was four against two after all, three if you counted his magic, but it had been far to crowded to really use it.
''Are you okay?''
He looked up as he was handed a beer. The young man hanging over him wasn't much better off than he was. His lip was cut, blood dripping onto his shirt and he was almost certain that the man would be having a black eye tomorrow. ''Yeah, I'm fine.'' The young man sat down next to him on the pavement and drank his own beer in one go.
The man set his glass down next to them on the pavement before offering Merlin his hand. ''Thank you for your help. I didn't really had a chance to introduce myself yet, I'm Anthony.''
''Merlin.''
''Interesting name.'' Anthony responded with a smirk on his lips. ''But as I said, I'm grateful for the help, they really did an number on you.''He said eying the hand that Merlin had wrapped around his waist.
''Nahh, I will be fine.'' Besides his magic would be able to heal his bruised ribs before sunset. He than glanced backwards to stare at his suitcase which lay behind them on the pavement. ''But I fear that I have lost my place to stay for the night.'' He had been thrown out for causing a 'disturbance' after all.
''You can sleep over at my house, I'm certain that my parents wouldn't mind.''
He glanced at Anthony, the man was staring with intense green eyes at him from underneath a mob of brown hair. ''You sure they won't mind?''
''It will be fine.''
Half an hour later they stood in front of a small house in the middle of London. His parents were still awake as he could see a small light from behind the curtains. ''Mum, dad, I'm home and I brought a friend.''
''This late at night?'' He heard a female voice ask before a woman stepped into the hallway. She wore a bright smile, but it soon fell as she saw her son. ''What happened? Did you get into another fight?'' She rushed to the kitchen to grab a wet cloth to clean off her son's lip. ''Rory get in here!'' A moment later a man stepped into hallway, which he figured was Rory, while rubbing his eyes as if he had just woken up. ''Your son got in another fight!''
''Did you win?''
''Rory!''
Father and son smirked at each other, before Rory patted Anthony on the back, causing the son to flinch slightly. Anthony than turned back to him. ''Mom, dad, may I introduce Merlin.''
The parents finally seemed to realise that he was there and turned to him, but as soon as they looked at him he saw them blink in surprise. ''Y-you are Merlin?'' He father mumbled.
''Well yes that was what I said, wasn't it?'' Anthony replied as he glanced at his father.
The mother stepped past her son and husband and placed her hands on his shoulders. ''Do you recognize me?'' He gave her an confused look and she added. ''I know that I have aged quite a bit, but... not that much right?... You do know the doctor?''
''… Yes, I know the doctor, you know him too?''
''He may not have met us yet.'' The voice came from Rory as he stepped next to his wife. ''Time travel and all.''
''Well than I do believe I need some tea as we have a lot of explaining to do.''
They talked and he had to say that he was both confused and amazed at the same time. The doctor had taught him not to see time in a straight line, but still... he never really thought about it. For him time has always moved forwards, years slowly creeping by. And maybe his believes were old fashioned, humanity had learned so much these last years, discovered parts of the truth of this world, things that had truly shocked him.
Amy, as she had introduced herself, and Rory had let him spend the night. They had told him all about themselves, about their adventures with the doctor, how they ended up in the past and how they had adopted their son.
He about to leave after breakfast and he stood in front of the front door, suitcase in his hand and a smile plastered on his lips. He got a hug from Anthony and a pat on the shoulder from Rory, but Amy stared at him while biting her lip. She glanced once at her husband, who gave her an encouraging nod, before she handed him a letter. ''Could you... could you give this letter to the doctor?''
He stared at the envelop now in his hands. ''Of course.''
''You have to give him the letter when you meet us again with the doctor.'' She gave him a sad smile. ''Timey-wimey stuff, we saw you give him the letter.'' She then suddenly threw her arms around him. ''Good luck and look after yourself.''
''I will.''
''Good... You will get your happy ending, you will see.'' She whispered before letting go of him and disappearing into the house.

The TARDIS sang her amazing melody as she landed, but he didn't listen to her at all. He had lost his friends to the weeping angels, lost them in time and he couldn't even visit them. He had let them down, he had lost them.
The doctor stepped out of the TARDIS, leaving her comfort, but he did want to be alone. And where better to be alone than a big crowd, somehow people seemed to be completely oblivious of others when in big crowds, here he could sulk. He wasn't quite sure when he was, just that he was somewhere on earth, but he didn't care, he knew that the TARDIS would bring him somewhere safe.
He felt the envelop in his pocket, it felt heavy, almost burning his skin. He reached for the letter, opening it and thus breaking the spell that had closed it, prevented him from reading. Oh and he had tried, but now that that moment was here he hated it.
Dear doctor,
Once you read this letter than we have already left you. Me and Rory. We want you to know that we are happy, I am happy. I can still remember those amazing times when we traveled together, when you showed me both time and space. You taught me so much and without it I would have never become the person that I am now.
It was quite the shock to suddenly have to live in another time.. It was hard, but we managed. After the war we adopted an orphan, Anthony. You would have liked him, cheeky, curious and just full of life. I am nearly sixty now that I write this letter and I can assure you that I have had a wonderful life.
But it isn't my life I want to tell you about. It is yours. We have traveled so long together and I came to know you. I am certain that-
The Timelord nearly dropped the letter when he bumped into a man. He hastily reached for the letter and clenched it tight in his hands as he touched the paper. The doctor glanced up and met the glaring blue eyes from the man which he had just bumped into The man shook his head before brushing through his golden blond hair and walking off. He turned his attention back to the letter in his hands, he couldn't believe how important a little piece of paper could be to someone, but this paper felt far more priceless than any amount of gold in the world.
-nobody ever will truly know you, but I want to believe that I came close. And I saw it in your eyes. You are lonely doctor. So please you have to promise me that you will never be alone again, you need a companion at your side. Do not let yourself fall into the darkness of loneliness, you deserve love and happiness.
So do not worry about me, us, we are good where we are. I'm happy. Just promise me that you will look after Melody and look after yourself.
Goodbye my dearest doctor, please have a wonderful life.
Love Amy Pond
Tears ran down his cheeks, his eyes closed as he clenched the letter against his chest. He may not be able to completely forgive himself for what happened to them, but at least he could give his hearts a bit more rest. ''Goodbye Amelia Pond.''

A/N: Hello all my amazing readers, so here's the next chapter for Tales of an immortal being and as you may have read the last one in the doctor who crossovers. I do agree that the amount of those chapters have gotten a bit out of hand, but still I wanted to do them. Next chapters we will go back to 'normal' chapters. Also this chapter is a bit of a birthday present from me to you guys (even though it's a bit late).
