Author's Note: Nearly a year has passed since the Great Intelligence first met our heroes. Donna is 19 and living on Appalapachia. Narnia and Alonso are 16 almost 17 and Gwen is 12.

Rose was helping Narnia with homework when Gwen came running in with her phone.

"Mum, your phone won't stop ringing, but I don't know the number so I didn't answer it."

"Thanks, Gwen. Have you done your homework?"

"Not yet. I was watching a makeup tutorial online."

"Well once you finish I need you to get to it. It doesn't matter if you want to be an actor or a make up artist, you still need to make it through public school."

Gwen nodded and left. Rose checked her phone and saw 15 missed calls, including 8 voicemails, all from the same mystery number. Before she could even open the phone to listen to the messages, it rang again. Same number. Frowning, she answered.

"Hello, Rose Tyler speaking."

"Rose! Oh, thank goodness you answered. I've been calling you all morning and I thought maybe the machine was broken but..."

"Hold on, who is this?"

"It's Jenny, from Victorian London? I'm with Madame Vastra and Strax..."

"Ah, Jenny! Sorry, I didn't recognize your voice with all the panic. What happened? Is something wrong?"

"Yes, and you've got to get the Doctor and go to sleep right now! It's very urgent, a life or death matter! Please hurry!"

"Alright, alright, calm down..."

"No, you don't understand! Your lives could be at stake! You have to meet us NOW."

"Jenny, I'm going to find the Doctor right now. Give us 15 minutes."

"No, you can't even take that long. We've already wasted enough time trying to contact you and talking on the phone. Don't fall asleep naturally. Use sleeping salts, drugs, knock each other out, SOMETHING!"

"Jenny," Vastra called in the background. "Come here, hurry."

"Alright, we will. See you in a minute." She hung up and turned to Narnia. "I expect that homework to be finished when I get back. If you see Alonso and Gwen, tell them the same."

Without waiting for a response, she ran down to the lab where the Doctor was working. He stepped out of the TARDIS and dragged her inside.

"I know, I just listened to the messages Jenny left on the TARDIS phone. Come on."

"It must be really bad if she's having a panic attack."

"I know, lie down."

Together, they lay down side by side on the bed, and the Doctor pulled out a huge green candle from his coat pocket. The sweet and sickly smell was so strong Rose passed out almost immediately. She jolted awake in a Japanese pagoda overlooking a feng shui garden and koi pond. Vastra and Jenny, dressed in their all black fight suits, were already there sitting across the table from them. Vastra started to speak when Clara suddenly appeared.

"Clara?" Vastra and Jenny exclaimed.

"Um, hello. How did I get here? I was just playing with Ellie and Sarah Jane a moment ago…"

"How is this possible?" Vastra breathed. "Clara, you're…"

"Sorry, do I know you? How do you know my name?"

"You…" Jenny began to explain.

"Just a moment," the Doctor interrupted. "You may know each other, but Clara hasn't met you yet. Lots of timey-wimey things going on here. Clara, this is Madame Vastra and Jenny. Yes, she's a lizard but technically her people owned the earth first, so give her the proper respect."

"Silurian," Vastra hissed. "Not a lizard."

"I was putting it in simple terms."

"Enough," Jenny said, hitting the table with her fist. "We have a problem. We can figure out how Clara got here on another day."

"Right," Rose agreed. "What happened?"

Vastra took a deep breath the calm herself. "We had a client, an insane murder, offer us information in return for his freedom. I publicly declared him as a lunatic, of course, but I believe the information was valuable and dangerous."

"Is it the Great Intelligence?" Rose asked, leaning forward.

"I'm not sure. First, the man raved about the Whisper Men."

"Do you hear the Whisper Men, the Whisper Men are near," Jenny recited, shuddering. Her voice was hollow, still haunted by the memory. "If you hear the Whisper Men, then turn away your ear. Do not hear the Whisper Men, whatever else you do. For once you've heard the Whisper Men, they'll stop…and look at you."

There was a moment of silence.

"Well, that was more than a little creepy," Clara said, frowning.

"And you think it's the Intelligence?"

"Based on the stories and the types of murder, I think it is entirely possible," Vastra said. "There have been multiple reports of people panicking in the streets, turning around and yelling at thin air. Then they drop dead, as if they've been suffocated."

"Sounds like the Carrionites to me," the Doctor said, remembering his adventure with Shakespeare and Martha in the other dimension.

"Yes, we've encountered them, too," Vastra acknowledged. "Except these victims then disappear moments after their death, with nothing left behind. I've checked and it's not teleportation."

"But that's not all," Jenny interrupted. "We started to leave after our client started repeating the Whisper Men poem, but then he said more. He said he knew you, or rather of you, and he said the Whisper Men had to."

"And what's more," Vastra continued, "he said this: The Doctor has a secret, one that he will take to his grave. And it is discovered."

Rose and Clara stiffened, but the Doctor leaned forward.

"Were those his exact words?" he asked darkly.

"Yes, those words exactly."

"A secret you take to your grave," Clara repeated, thinking.

"It must mean your name," Rose said. "What happens when someone discovers your name?"

"No, no, you don't understand," the Doctor said. "Yes, it probably is my name they're after. Time Lord names are like clocks, you can control their whole life, beginning to end, with that knowledge. But the haven't discovered my name, they've discovered my grave."

"What if it's the grave of your other version?" Clara asked.

"Not possible. There was nothing left of Gallifrey to even create a monument."

"Ah, that explains the numbers," Vastra said, looking down at a small computer screen in front of her.

"Numbers? What numbers?" the Doctor asked.

"We were about to get to that," Jenny said. "After the man told us about the secret/grave that was discovered, he listed off some random numbers. We hadn't understood it until now."

"They were coordinates," Vastra said, understanding.

The numbers appeared in the air on a holoscreen. For the first time during the conversation, the Doctor paled.

"What is it?" Rose asked.

"Why did I have to be buried there?" he whispered. "Who let me buried there?"

"Why, where is it?" Clara asked. "Is it dangerous?"

"No. It's a secluded beach, which is probably why we decided to bury me there. It's called Darlig Ulv Stranden…Otherwise known as Bad Wolf Bay."

"No," Rose whimpered, shaking her head. "I can't go back there. It's bad luck."

"You've been to Torchwood before," Clara said.

"This is different. It's the loneliest place on earth."

"Rose, we have to," the Doctor said. "Time Lord graves are dangerous, but I'm not sure how dangerous mine will be because I'm only half Time Lord. It could be nothing. The Intelligence could be chasing after a dead end. Or it could ruin our lives. As in, make us non-existent."

Jenny suddenly turned around in her chair and looked behind her. The movement startled everybody.

"Are you alright?" Vastra asked.

"Yeah," Jenny said, rubbing the back of her neck. "Sorry, I just thought I heard something. Must have been something in the real…world…" She straightened instantly. "Oh no. I forgot to lock the doors."

"I'm sure it's fine," Vastra said. "Strax is there. He's probably just playing his idea of a joke." Jenny shook her head, tears forming as she's struggled to breathe. "Jenny! Jenny, what's wrong?"

"I'm so, so sorry, ma'am," Jenny whispered. "But I think I've been murdered."

With a final gasp, she fell over the table and disappeared.

"Jenny!" Vastra yelled.

"Go!" the Doctor commanded her. "Wake up and take care of her. Get Strax. We'll come pick you up. What's the date?"

"December, 4th, 1894!" Vastra said. She checked her watch. "At 4:15 PM!" she added as she dissolved.

"How do I wake up?" Clara asked.

"Just picture yourself waking up," the Doctor said. "We'll see you in a minute."

"What on earth were you thinking?" Danny yelled as he and Sammy helped a dizzy Clara into the TARDIS. "We nearly had a heart attack! We thought she had a heart attack!"

"It wasn't me," the Doctor promised. "Or Vastra. Nobody called her to the conference, she just went. I don't know why."

"Danny, it's fine," Sarah Jane said, following them. She was carrying one-year-old Ellie. "She's fine now and that's what matters."

"I'm just dizzy," Clara said. "And slightly disoriented."

"Sarah Jane, maybe Ellie should stay behind," Martha suggested. She, Donna, and the Ponds were already on board. "I've been talking to Rose and this is going to be dangerous."

Sarah Jane nodded. "I need to talk to Clara and Danny for a minute," she said. "You too, Sammy."

"You just came inside," the Doctor said.

"I know. I'm sorry, but this is important."

"Then talk about it on the way," the Doctor said. "We've got to hurry."

"This is private, and you've got a time machine," Sammy said. "Calm down."

"We could keep Ellie in the TARDIS!" he yelled after them as they left. "It's perfectly safe in here."

"I don't know," Rose said. "What if something happens and the Intelligence gets the TARDIS? Then Ellie will be stuck in here with no help."

"Alright, good point. Do you think we could talk to Sammy about being less...soldier-ish?"

"He's still adjusting," Rose said. "Besides, you got used to Danny alright."

"Martha, are you alright?" Amy asked.

Martha had been staring at the TARDIS doors in deep thought. "Hmm?" She snapped out of her trance. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking."

Rose decided they had waited long enough, so she stepped out of the TARDIS and into a conversation.

"...not fair that we have to do this again so soon," Clara whispered.

"If she goes with us it will destroy the whole purpose of the plan," Danny said.

"But I don't want to just leave her," Clara cried. "Sarah Jane, maybe you should stay."

"Absolutely not. I need to fight for her. And I want to be with you."

"I'll take good care of her," Sammy promised. "Go on."

"Are you alright, Clara?" Rose asked.

"Yeah," Clara said, wiping away her tears. "I just really love kids and I don't like leaving her alone if it's this dangerous."

Rose nodded, thinking she understood. "You don't have to come with us. You could always stay and no one would blame you."

But Clara shook her head. "No. I need to go. It's a long story, and after this is all over one of us, at least, will tell you."

"I'll go put Ellie in her crib," Sammy said. "It'll make it easier."

Ellie started to cry; Clara leaned over and kissed her forehead.

"You'll be ok, Ellie, I promise."

She whispered something else, but it was so low Rose couldn't hear. Sighing, Sammy took Ellie back to the nursery. Clara watched them go, standing immovable.

"You really don't have to go," Rose insisted, somewhat perplexed.

"I really do," Clara whispered with resolve. Her voice was stronger, and she straightened her shoulders. She took a deep breath and slipped a hand into Danny's. "Now let's go save the world."

They materialized around Vastra and Strax moments after Jenny's collapse. She lay with her head in Vastra's lap, and Strax was waving a small machine over her body. The Doctor nodded approvingly.

"Sontaran battlefield medical kit. She'll be fine."

"Not until she wakes up," Vastra snapped.

Jenny took a breath a few seconds later, coughing in pain. Instantly, everyone relaxed. Well, everyone but Donna Noble. She was staring open-mouthed.

"That was wicked," she said.

"I assure you, I had the best intentions in mind," Strax informed her. "This device is built to help people and do good. Much as I despise it."

"No, it's just slang..."

"Ok," the Doctor interrupted loudly. "Is everyone ready to go? Jenny?"

"I'm fine," Jenny insisted hoarsely. "Just give me a minute."

"Right, Martha, you take the stabilizers..."

"Doctor," Vastra interrupted. "I hope I'm not being forward, but could I run the stabilizers?"

The Doctor looked at her quizzically. "You know how to fly a TARDIS?"

"Of course," Vastra said, smiling. "The stabilizers were my favorite."

"Then, by all means, take it away."

Grinning like a school girl, Vastra ran over and took her place.

"Martha, use the lever. Danny, you can push those buttons, and have Clara help you."

"I know how the buttons work, Doctor," Danny insisted.

"And I'll circumnavigate," Rose said, jumping in.

"Oh. Right. Ok. I'll just sit over here, then."

"What weapons do you have at your disposal?" Vastra asked.

"We don't use weapons," the Doctor began.

"Doctor, in most cases I applaud your morality, but in this instance, I insist on you all carrying some form of protection. There is too much at risk here."

The Doctor sighed. "Down the hall, fourth doors on the right. But we will NOT use them until absolutely necessary."

Rose punched in the coordinates slowly and stared at the screen for a minute.

"I mean, it could be nothing, right? It could be a totally normal grave, and we could all totally be overreacting."

"Right," Clara said, nodding feverishly.

"I should probably tell you this now," the Doctor said. "A Time Lord grave is a miniature time vortex, but of their life. And if, say, you were an evil entity known as the Great Intelligence who wanted to ruin someone's life, you could enter the time stream...and kill that Time Lord. Multiple times. Which means I wouldn't exist."

Clara looked back at the door, where they could faintly hear Ellie's cries. "You wouldn't exist?" she asked. "And neither would the TARDIS?"

"Potentially, no," Vastra said, returning with half a dozen guns from various eras. "Nor would anything that the TARDIS brought about."

Clara slammed her fist down on the launch button, and the TARDIS took off shakily. "I'm not taking any chances."
