Loki paced outside of the healing room. "What happened? I came as quickly as I could." Gail said, rushing up to him.

"Laufey knew about our attack." Loki answered. "He used the opportunity to break in. Ava did stopped him from taking the casket, but she suffered for it."

"And what of Laufey?" Gail asked.

"He is no more." Loki answered.

Just then one of the healers exited the room and walked over to Loki. "Is she going to be alright?" Loki asked.

"I believe so, my king." The woman answered. "She is going to need plenty of rest."

"May I see her?" Loki asked.

The woman nodded. "Of course."

Loki then walked into the healing room, where Ava was laying on a stone table. A sheet was draped over her body, the only thing covering it. A bandage was wrapped around her arm and her leg, where she had been burned by Laufey. He walked over and bent and kissed her forehead. "My love…this is all my fault." Loki whispered to her. "I failed to protect you…I am sorry."

Ava's eyes slowly fluttered open. "Loki." She whispered weakly.

"Ava, my love." Loki said, taking her hand in his and kissing it. "How are you feeling?"

"I…I have…to tell…you…something." She replied.

"It can wait." Loki replied. "Just rest."

"The…casket…" Ava replied.

"Do not worry." Loki replied. "Just rest."

"The casket…I…I sent…it…to…our…place…in…the…forest." Ava got out.

"How?" Loki asked.

"I…I…op…opened…a portal." Ava answered. "I…am…sorry."

"Don't be sorry my love." Loki replied. "It is my fault. I failed in protecting you. I should have known that Laufey would have known about the attack. I should have been looking for the traitor who kept sneaking the Frost Giants here."

"Do…don't blame…your…self." Ava countered. "You…couldn't…have known."

"But I should have." Loki replied. "I should have been looking for the traitor. Now, no more talking, you need to rest."

"What…time…is it?" Ava asked.

"Well past dinner time." Loki answered.

"Rafe…Astrid…they need…to go…to bed." Ava said. "Nothing…happened…to them?"

"No. They are just fine." Loki answered.

"You…should…put them…to bed." Ava said.

"Okay." Loki replied. "I'll go put them to bed. Then I'll be back." He bent and placed a feather light kiss on her lips.

Ava gave him a small smile. "Give…them…a kiss…for me."

"I will, my love. You just rest."

Loki then walked out of the room and Gail walked in. Loki went to find his children. "Alright, time for bed, you two." Loki said.

"Where Mama?" Astrid asked.

"She is resting." Loki answered.

"Is Mama sick?" Astrid inquired.

"Yes." Loki answered. "She needs lots of rest so she can get better."

"Can we see her?" Astrid asked.

"Maybe when she's feeling better." Loki told his daughter. "Right now you need to go to bed. So, come here." He knelt and opened his arms.

Astrid ran right to him and allowed him to pick her up. Rafe walked beside them, silently. Loki helped Astrid into her night clothes and then tucked her into bed. He told her a story and she fell right to sleep. He was then tucking Rafe into bed.

"Dad?" Rafe asked.

"What is it, Son?" Loki asked.

"Is Mom really gonna be okay?" He inquired.

"Of course she is." Loki answered.

"I know she got hurt badly." Rafe replied. "I was listening…using my magic how you taught me to."

"You were invisible?" Loki asked.

Rafe nodded. "I didn't mean to, but I just wanted to know what was going on with Mom."

"She's going to be fine." Loki reassured his young son. "Your mother is very strong and brave. It's going to take more than this to get her down."

Rafe nodded. "Okay."

Loki hugged his son and kissed the top of his head. "Everything will be just fine."

"I love you, Dad."

"I love you, too Rafe."
