After picking Gracie up from school on Wednesday Rory goes to the store with the kids needing diapers and a few other things. Bentley is sitting in the shopping cart while Gracie walks beside Rory. Walking down an aisle they pass an elderly lady looking to be in her late sixties.
Rory stops in front of the item she was looking for. While Rory was doing that the sound of something dropping catches Gracie's attention. Looking around she notices the elderly lady they passed dropped something and was having trouble getting it.
"Okay Graciekins lets go get Bentley's diapers." Rory's says.
"Wait mommy." Gracie says and walks towards the lady.
"Where are you going honey?" Rory calls after Gracie turning the cart to follow her daughter.
Reaching the lady Gracie picks up the fallen item.
"Here." Gracie says handing the box to her.
"Thank you so much dear." The lady says smiling at Gracie and placing the box in the basket of her power chair.
"What are you doing Gracie?" Rory asks catching up with her.
"I'm helping mommy." Gracie says.
"I dropped something and couldn't get it. Your beautiful daughter picked it up for me." The lady explains to Rory. "She's lovely."
"Thank you." Rory smiles.
"Have a good day." The lady says waving.
"Bye bye." Gracie waves.
Walking away Rory smiles down at Gracie.
"I'm so proud of you baby. That was a very nice thing you did." Rory tells her.
On the way to get Bentley's diapers they pass the bakery.
"Can I get a cupcake mommy?"
"We'll stop to get one after we get the diapers." Rory tells her.
"Yay!" Gracie cheers. "I want a chocolate one."
Rory gets diapers and wipes for Bentley. After that she takes Gracie to get her cupcake. Gracie picks a chocolate one with pink icing. For Bentley Rory gets a croissant. Both kids sit happily in the cart eating their treat while Rory finishes her shopping.
"Look at my two messy babies." Rory says smiling at Bentley and Gracie. Gracie shared some of her cupcake with Bentley so they both have pink icing on their face. "Was it good?"
"It was yummy." Gracie smiles. "Can I have another one?"
"No you haven't even eaten lunch yet."
"Can I have a cheese sandwich?"
"I'll make you one when we get home."
She walks up to the checkout line. While waiting in line Rory pulls out diaper wipes to clean the two icing covered kids.
"Hello did you find everything you were looking for?"
"Yes I did." Rory says as she puts her things up on the belt.
"Gracie what special present do you want for your birthday?" Roy asks while driving home.
"I want another baby."
"Another baby doll." Rory says glad it was something easy. "Which one do you want?"
"Not a dolly mommy." Gracie says as Rory glances back at her while she shakes her head. "I want another baby like Bennie. A girl." Gracie clarifies.
"Oh, we'll honey that's something mommy and daddy need to talk about. And there's not going to be another baby for a while. Your brother is still little and needs so much help."
"Can you tell the doctor to put one in your belly?"
"It doesn't work like that honey."
"How does the baby get there?"
"A mommy and daddy make a baby." Rory tells her. "Is there something else you want?"
"A pony." Gracie tells her. "A white one with brown spots. How do the mommy and daddy make the baby?"
"I shouldn't have asked." Rory mumbles as she tries to think of a way to answer her daughters question.
"Mommy."
"The mommy and daddy make a baby with lots of love honey."
"Was I made with lots of love too mommy?"
"Yes you were honey." Rory says hoping Gracie doesn't ask anymore questions. "We're home. I need you to take your back pack while I get the bags."
"Okay mommy."
Gracie walks next to Rory who was carrying the two bags and Bentley. Upstairs she makes lunch for Gracie and Bentley. With Bentley napping Rory does some work in the office while Gracie plays in the playroom.
"Mommy." Gracie says getting Rory's attention as she enters the room.
"Yes?"
"I'm sleepy."
"Do you want to take a nap?" Rory asks as Gracie walks over to her.
"A little one." Gracie tells her while climbing on her lap.
"I'll tuck you in."
"Not yet." Gracie tells her while laying back in Rory's arms.
"Okay." Rory says brushing hair out of her face.
"In your bed."
"Okay sweet dreams my love."
Gracie snuggles into Rory and drifts off to sleep. When Rory is sure Gracie is in a deep sleep she takes her to the master bedroom and tucks her in. With pillows on both sides Rory leaves the room to continue working.
Rory works for fifteen minutes before she hears the doorbell ring. Standing she goes to answer the door.
"Hey Honor." Rory says letting her in.
"Hi Rory." Honor says giving her a hug. "Sorry for just showing up but I wanted to see my niece and nephew. I was talking to Logan and he said you were home." Honor says while hugging Rory.
"You know you're welcome here anytime."
"Where are the kids?"
"Napping."
"Even Gracie?"
"Yes she doesn't really nap anymore but occasionally when she's really tired she'll take one."
"How are the plans going for Bentley's party?"
"Really good. Did I show you their outfits?"
"No you didn't."
"Come I'll show you." Rory says heading for the stairs.
"He looks so much like Logan when he was a baby. If it wasn't for the blue eyes he could be his clone." Honor says looking at Bentley sleeping in his crib.
"Your dad showed me pictures." Rory says. "This is his." She says showing Honor the sailor outfit.
"With boat shoes and knee socks."
"That's the same thing mom said." Rory laughs. Walking to Gracie's room she pulls out her dress. "This is Gracie's."
"I love them. They're going to look so cute." Honor says excitedly. "Where is Gracie?" She asks seeing the little girls bed empty.
"In my bed." Rory tells Honor while returning the clothes to the closet. "We're going this weekend to look for her super big girl bed as she calls it."
"Aww." Honor says smiling. "Have you eaten lunch?" Honor asks after hearing Rory's stomach rumble.
"I had a sandwich with the kids earlier and I've been working since then."
"Okay I'm going I spend some time with my beautiful niece and handsome nephew while you drag my brother out to lunch. I know for a fact that he plans on skipping lunch today."
"I hate when he does that."
"Go go get." Honor says ushering Rory down the stairs.
"Honor."
"No, here's your purse and enjoy your lunch." Honor says pushing Rory out of the door and locking it behind her.
"Hey what are you doing here?" Logan asks upon seeing Rory enter his office.
"Your sister kicked me out of the house." Rory says rolling her eyes. "I'm here to take you to lunch." Rory says walking over to him and giving him a kiss.
"I just planned on getting something from the vending machine."
"You know I hate when you skip lunch like that. You're going to make yourself sick." She says sitting in front of him on his desk.
"I know. Let me save what I'm working on and we can go." He tells her. "Was Gracie excited to see Honor?"
"She was still sleeping when I left."
"I hope we find a bed this weekend. It's been a while since she's got a full nights sleep." He says standing. "Ready?"
"Yes." She says taking his offered hand.
"Gracie told me what she wants for her birthday." Rory tells him at the restaurant once they're seated.
"What does she want?"
"A baby."
"Another doll that's easy."
"That's the same thing I thought." Rory laughs. "Until she clarified for me exactly what she wants. She wants me to have another baby. A baby sister to be exact."
"Oh." Logan says shocked by his daughters request.
"I know."
"What did you tell her?"
"That there won't be another baby for a while. And she told me to ask to doctor to put one in my stomach." Rory says taking a sip of her drink. "Which lead to a conversation of how the mommy and daddy make the baby."
"How did you explain that to her?"
"I just told her that the mommy and daddy make babies with lots of love."
"To which she asked if she was made with lots of love." Logan concludes.
"Yes and I told her she was." Rory tells him. "And now she wants a white pony with brown spots."
"Oh boy." Logan says as the waitress comes to take their order.
"Mommy." Honor hears Gracie calling fifteen minutes later.
She makes her way upstairs to get her niece.
"Hi beautiful." She says picking Gracie up.
"Hi Auntie Honor." Gracie says giving her a kiss. "Where's mommy?" Gracie asks while laying her head on Honor's shoulder.
"She went to go have lunch with daddy."
"Oh. I missed you."
"I missed you too honey." Honor smiles. "Did you have a good nap?" Honor asks while walking down the stairs.
"Yes can I have milk?"
"I'll get you some."
"There's a possibility that I might have to go to California for a few days."
"Do you know for how long and when?"
"Next week and for three days. I'll know for sure on Friday."
"Okay." Rory says. "I was going to see if Honor wanted to spend some time with Bentley on Saturday. That way we can spend some special time with Gracie while we look for her bed and we can take her out for lunch."
"I'm sure Honor will jump at the chance to spend time with Bentley."
"I wanted to tell you what Gracie did at the store today."
"Did she get in trouble?"
"No you'll be proud of her. I was ready to go to another aisle and I told we were going. She told me to wait and walked away from me. When in caught up to her she was by an elderly lady we passed when we got to the aisle we were in. Gracie noticed she dropped something and was having for trouble getting it so she got it for her."
"Wow."
"I know I was so proud of her."
"We must be doing something right." Logan says smiling. "Are you ready to go?" He asks after paying.
"Yes."
Standing they walk hand and hand out of the restaurant.
"Mama." Honor hears Bentley calling.
With Gracie following her she goes to get Bentley.
"Hi handsome." She says walking into the room.
"Hi." Bentley says smiling at his aunt.
Honor takes him out of his crib and after changing his diaper she takes him downstairs with Gracie leading the way.
"Bennie has milk when he wakes up." Gracie tells Honor.
Honor goes to the kitchen and gets out some milk she places it in a cup of hot water to warm it and when it's ready she gives it to Bentley.
Honor is in the playroom with Gracie and Bentley when Rory gets home.
"Hi." Rory say walking into the room.
"Mommy." Gracie says running to hug her.
"Hi honey how was your nap?" Rory ask bending to kiss her.
"Good."
"Mama." Bentley says walking over to her.
"Hi baby." She says picking him up. "Did you have a good nap?"
"Es." He says giving her a kiss.
"How did it go?"
"Great. Gracie and I got to spend time together before Bentley woke up."
"She loves when she gets to spend time with you." Rory says. "How would you like the do some bonding with Bentley while we go bed shopping on Saturday?"
"I would love to." Honor says excitedly.
"Well probably drop him off around eleven. Logan and I looked at some beds while I was at the office and we narrowed it down to two. We just want to see them in person. And then we were going to take Gracie out to lunch."
"Well Bentley and I will have lots of fun with Uncle Josh."
"Mama." Bentley says getting her attention.
"Yes baby?"
"Ilk." Bentley says tugging on her shirt.
Rory sits down and opens her shirt to nurse.
"What are you doing when you leave here?" Rory asks.
"I'm going to do a little shopping." Honor tells her as Gracie goes to sit on her lap.
"Can I go with you?" Gracie asks looking up at Honor.
"If mommy says it's okay."
"Please mommy."
"Are you sure?" Rory asks Honor.
"Yes. I can give her some lessons on how to use daddy's black card when she's older."
"I'm sure Logan will love that." Rory says laughing.
"One of the best things of being an aunt is that I can spoil her."
"And make mommy and daddy be the bad guys."
"Exactly."
"You can go with Auntie Honor. Be a good girl and listen to her." Rory instructs.
"Yay! Thank you mommy."
"You're welcome. Go get your shoes." Rory says smiling. "I'll have Logan pick her up on his way home."
"Okay." Honor says smiling at Bentley as Rory fixes her shirt. "We need to get together for a spa day one weekend. You, me, Steph, and your mom."
"That will be nice. A day of pampering."
"I'll set it up and let you know the day."
"Okay." Rory says smiling. "Ready to go?" She asks Gracie when she comes back.
"Yes." Gracie goes over to Rory and gives her a kiss. "Bye mommy."
"Bye honey. Have fun."
"Let's hit the road beautiful."
"I'll walk you down so I can put her chair in your car." Rory tells Honor.
"Bentley say bye to Gracie and Auntie Honor."
"Bye bye." Bentley waves to his aunt and sister.
"How about we go to the park?"
"Yay!" Bentley claps.
"Okay buddy we have to get you shoes."
Rory goes back upstairs. After changing Bentley's diaper she puts on his shoes and they head to the park. Once there he plays in the sandbox for a little and then Rory pushes him in the swing. After thirty minutes they go home.
"Mama eat." Bentley says wanting a snack.
"Do you want Cheerios?"
"Es." He says.
"I'll get it for you baby."
That evening Logan gets home after picking Gracie up from Honor's. The family has dinner and the kids are bathed and put to bed.
"What are we going to do about Gracie's present? She already knows a baby is out of the question and we can't buy her a pony." Rory asks that night when they are in bed.
"Actually."
"Let me rephrase that, we're not buying her a pony." Rory tells Logan.
"Why not?"
"Because she doesn't need one and when she outgrows her horse phase like she did with ballet we'll be stuck with it." Rory tells him logically.
"What if we let her take riding lessons and if this is something she sticks with then we'll talk about buying her her own horse."
"That's more reasonable. But I also want her to help take care of the horse so she knows how much work is involved. We're not just going to pay someone to take care of it and for her to do nothing." Rory tells Logan. "I don't want our kids to be spoiled brats always getting what they want and not working for it." Rory adds.
"I agree."
That weekend Rory and Logan drop Bentley off with Honor and Josh. They go to the Poetry Barn Kids to look at the beds. The first bed they look at is a white sleigh bed. The second option is a white four poster bed. Gracie fell in love with it as soon as she saw it. Logan and Rory liked it better than the first one too.
They order a full sized bed and mattress set with the matching dresser and night stands. To ensure she doesn't fall out of the bed they order a guardrail for the side. They also order a pink duvet cover with her name embroidered on the pillowcases. Gracie picks out princess sheets. They are able to take the sheets home with them but have to wait for the rest to be delivered.
They take Gracie for lunch at her favorite restaurant before picking Bentley up.
