What happened last:
The war had begun and after a short amount of fighting, Finn returned from the Fire Kingdom. After advancing a little too much, Finn found himself in a sticky situation and was saved by a hot flash of light and fire. And now the war can continue.
F: "It's soo nice of you to show up." He said as soon as the intense heat wave subsided then jumped to his feet.
Finn wasn't exactly happy about it but he was still relieved that she showed up. She may have not have been wanted but she was very much needed in this fight. Flame Princess was a desperately needed asset.
FP: "I couldn't just let them kill you, now could I?" She said cutely then dashed forward and began to fight.
Being a fire elemental, she has the ability to destroy the entire enemy force… the only problem was that she needed some sort of stimuli to trigger her extreme emotions. And without that, she would just remain at her regular fiery potency instead of being a force of mass destruction.
She was still mesmerizing in everything that she did because she did everything in a dainty, yet fierce, way.
After Flame Princess' attack, the battle continued with the enemy attacking in waves of progressively larger size. It all seemed very repetitive except for the occasional demon that had a little more skill than most of the other undead, but besides that, it wasn't horribly challenging.
Sometime shortly after Finn showed up, the rest of the individuals that Bubblegum called "friends" began to fight as well. They wanted to start fighting along with everyone else but Bubblegum told them how she didn't want to defeat Maja's test army too easily in order to prevent her throwing more than they could handle at them. That was half the reason; the other half was due to the fear of her friends getting seriously injured.
Princess Bubblegum has been getting more and more emotionally fragile recently. She normally would have created some sort of chemical or "medicine" to suppress these feelings as she's done in the past but she didn't feel like that was necessary this time.
M: "Finn! Are you alright?" She yelled as she quickly floated over to Finn. He was dusting
F: "Yeah, just a few scratches here and there. But I'm alright." He was being modest. In actuality, he got pretty beat up and he had a few cuts all over but he'll be fine.
M: "Good, now let's go kick Maja's butt."
F: "Yeah. But first, we gotta destroy all the undead!" He said excitedly, he loved the rush he got from battle.
M: "Uh… can we not kill all the undead?"
F: "Uh… we kinda have to in order to get to- Oh… I didn't mean you, Marcy." He started to feel a bit embarrassed.
M: "I know, hero. I was just messin' with you. Now let's end this." She made it sound as if the war could be ended easily because Maja's fighters just weren't very effective or skilled. And Marceline was partially right to think so.
Finn and Marceline both advanced on their enemy together. They had a few seconds to exchange words because Flame Princess was cutting through the ranks of Maja's army like a hot knife through butter. Even though she was efficient in battle, she didn't have very good stamina. She just kept blasting the undead with fire until she began to lose her intensity. It got to the point to where FP could hardly produce a spark.
The vampire queen with her axe bass and Finn with his trusty sword moved up together and were fighting side by side for a few moments until Jake and Lady Rainicorn showed up to join the fight, then everyone was on their own. They were all incredibly lethal and efficient and their skills were not even close to being matched by any opponent.
Finn was slashing through his adversaries and everything in front of him but stopped when he saw a group of skeletons concentrating their attacks on a specific area. They were huddled around something and attacking viciously. Naturally, Finn rushed in and destroyed them all.
FP: "Finn!" Flame Princess screamed.
Finn cut down all of the monsters nearby and dove towards the fiery princess to protect her. He noticed that she was a light-blue color because her flame ran out and that she had cut marks all over her body.
F: "FP! Are you ok?" He said as he lifted her head.
FP: "Y-yeah… I'm fine…" She tried to brush Finn off and stand up to show that she was honestly just fine, but she fell right back down.
F: "You're hurt. You need to get medical treatment. I'm gonna take you back to the Candy Kingdom."
Flame Princess just blushed and smiled at Finn, letting him know that she agreed with his decision. Finn quickly picked her up and turned around to carry her back. Jake caught on the situation and protected Finn.
When Finn turned around, he noticed all of the casualties from the Candy Kingdom's army. There were banana guards, goblins, lemon people and various other citizens on the ground. They were all either dead or severely wounded because most of them weren't moving at all. He quickly brought Flame Princess back to the Candy Kingdom for treatment then continued to gather up all of the injured. One by one…
Hours Later…
The battle raged on long into the night. The harvest moon was providing ample light for everyone to see. Bubblegum even set up some very powerful lights shining towards Maja's army creating a small blinding effect.
The Candy Kingdom had a sufficient amount of people to cycle out whenever one group was tired. Princess Bubblegum planned it very well and it made the Candy Kingdom's army seem much larger than it really was. When someone was injured or too fatigued to continue, two more took their place.
At some point in time during the fighting, Lumpy Space finally sent reinforcements; which consisted of Lumpy Space Princess and a few random Lumpy people that didn't really contribute to the fight. LSP pretty much just flew around and tried to fake a romantic relationship with random zombies and demons. She believed that pretending to break up with them would break their heart enough to kill them.
It didn't work, of course.
Hours of fighting, rescuing the injured and helping out in any way he could, Finn returned to the Candy Kingdom to take a much needed break. He tried his hardest to fight alongside everyone for as long as he could but it just wasn't possible. He is only human.
He walked into one of the rooms that most of the people went to get water and rest for a few moments before returning to the fight. Sitting in the corner of the room was Marceline, with her axe dirty and covered in various colored liquids which seemed to be blood.
F: "Marcy?" He walked up to her and was only slightly concerned. He hadn't seen her for some time due to the fierce combat but he didn't think the vampire queen would have had any problems because she's very experienced with fighting.
She didn't respond.
F: "Marceline, are you ok?"
Her head snapped upwards as if she just awoke from sleep. She looked around in a very paranoid way then finally looked into Finn's eyes then seemed to calm down instantly.
M: "Y-yeah, what's up, Finn?"
F: "Nothing Mar Mar, I just thought you were hurt or something."
M: "N… no. I'm fine. I'm just…" She stopped speaking then slumped to the side and fell to the ground.
Finn could see that she was holding a wound on her arm and doing her best to stop the bleeding without anyone noticing. She felt too prideful to seek medical aid. Usually her body would heal abnormally fast but it didn't this time.
F: "Marceline!" He rushed to her side and wrapped his hand around the deep cut on her arm. He did his best to stop it from bleeding any more than it already had.
The human boy was about to call out to anyone in the room to help him but somehow nobody else was there.
F: "I guess it's up to me then…" He thought to himself.
He didn't know what to do so he did whatever he could to help her. He found random objects in the room to bandage her wound and he found that his methods were quite effective.
Marceline always had pale skin because she was a vampire but she seemed to be lighter than normal. And this raised a red flag in Finn's mind. He was trying his best to think of whatever could possibly be the cause of her sickly whiter skin but he could only come to one conclusion.
If someone looked like her and was human then he would suspect that they were suffering from extreme blood loss. And that was exactly the case.
Even though it was hardly something that would cause death, Marceline was in great pain from loss of blood. Finn didn't know of anything that he could do but give his own blood to her. It may have been drastic but it was the first thing that came to his mind.
F: "Marceline!" He was trying to get her attention. He placed his hands on her face to try to get her to look into his eyes.
M: "W… what?" She was fading in and out and was hardly cognizant.
F: "Just… bite down on this… it'll make you feel better." He was surprisingly not reluctant with letting Marceline bite him. He didn't know what else to do to help her so he settled with this.
As the beautiful vampire queen bit down, Finn winced from the pain of her teeth piercing his flesh and draining the blood from his veins. She usually wouldn't even accept drinking someone's blood but she wasn't entirely aware of the situation and Finn basically tricked her to do it.
Marceline quickly recovered from her dazed state and realized what she had just done.
M: "Oh my glob! Finn! What's going on?!" She didn't know what to think. She just drank Finn's blood so she felt like she committed some sort of crime. She didn't even know that he made her do it just to help her.
F: "Nothing M…Marcy. I was just making sure that you're ok." He winced in mid-sentence because he was still feeling some slight pain but he was quickly recovering. He knew that she didn't honestly need the blood to keep her alive. She would have been just fine. Finn just wanted her to get better faster.
M: "Don't let me do that… ever again. Even if it helps, it keeps me wanting more…"
F: "Ok, Marcy. I just wanted to make sure that you were ok but I'll remember that."
After they had their short conversation, they both regained enough strength to get back outside and fight Maja's army. It was still going to be a very late night but Finn and Marceline were more determined than ever to end it now. They both ran outside to continue fighting and everything seemed to have taken an intermission.
Off into the distance, Finn and Marceline could see Maja floating in the air behind her army like a coward. Finn averted his gaze back to the undead army that was about to attack again but Marceline was still watching Maja. She saw someone fly next to the sky witch.
M: "Who's that…?" She squinted her eyesnin an attempt to figure out who it was.
She stared hard for a few seconds and then it clicked in her mind. And it made her blood boil.
It was Ash.
She didn't know how long he's been here or how long he's been working with Maja but it didn't matter. He was now an enemy and he must be taken down.
Finn already went back out to fight while Marceline was figuring out who the mystery person was and she did the same soon after. She made sure to add flourish to her attacks to attract Ash's attention. She didn't want to confront him directly but if he came towards her she could at least get backup if she needed it.
She defeated her enemies in the most evil ways. She turned into a massive demon to take a lot of them out but she resorted to cutting some of them in half or decapitating them. She even sucked the souls out of some of them. She didn't like doing it nor did she even like admitting that she was able to do it but she made an exception. She was angry and did care at this point.
Ash: "Ah… there's my little vampire queen." He said in his "cool" voice. He quickly zipped over to where she was and she immediately turned back into her human form.
They had a big circular area around them where they were. Nobody dared to get in between them because both of them had more experience than pretty much anyone else on the battlefield. It seemed like a high-school style fight except that nobody was paying much attention to them because they were all still fighting.
Their eyes were burning into each other's soul as they both tried to read what the other was thinking by the expressions on the other's face. Marceline walked up to Ash without saying a word and punched him in the face which knocked him onto his back.
M: "What are you doing here?!" She yelled at him.
Ash: "Marcy, I came here to find you. I heard about the war and I just… I got worried that you'd get hurt or something…" He said with an honest tone with his hands in front of him to show that he came in peace.
M: "Wha..? What are you talking about?" She calmed down completely for a second then went back to being angry. He caught her off guard with his surprisingly non-rude attitude.
Ash: "I came here because… I wanted to say sorry for how I've been to you." His eyes seemed to hold soo much honestly and he sounded soo genuinely sorry.
M: "Ash, I…" She was speechless.
Ash: "I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change… a-and I'm ready to be sure I never become that way again." He smoothly moved over and grabbed Marceline's hand gently maintaining eye contact the entire time.
There was a war going on around them and they were none the wiser in this moment. Ash was sweet talking the vampire queen just like he used to. He can be soo kind when he's not being a jerk and now that he said that he changed then maybe it'll be better…
She was thinking of all the good things about Ash; all of the memories dates and past experiences with him. Her mind was swirling with memories and she almost forgot that a war was even going on.
Ash: "Marcy, come with me. We can run away from all of this and live our lives together; just the two of us." His smile was heartwarming.
M: "That sounds good and all but… why were you with Maja? She's evil and she's trying to kill us…" Her mind was clouded but she still had an obligation to win this war.
Ash: "Oh her? I didn't know where to find you so I just asked her. She seemed like she knew what was going on."
M: "Oh… that makes sense." Her cheeks blushed and she smiled as she looked into Ash's eyes.
Ash: "I love you, Mar Mar.
M: "I… love you too, Ash…"
It was like a dream to her. The war didn't matter anymore. She was going to be back with her first love and this time, it was going to be different.
Ash: "Let's get out of here, Marcy." He kept smiling at her.
M: "O-ok."
F: "Marcy, NO!" Finn screamed at her.
He was sprinting at her because something was seriously wrong.
F: "He's trying to-!" He was interrupted by getting knocked out by a skeleton.
