Great job to ereader12, Lady Cougar-Trombone, Yuki F. Karasu, LRW, and AllAmericanSlurp for answering the episode question last chapter! Kerry took Adam's baseball cap! ;)

Thank you to ShyMusic (aw, thanks!) and raenbc (hey!), too, for the reviews!

As far as the other question, the answer and the trivia, those will be at the end notes. They're a bit lengthy, haha!

This entry's a personal favorite, though you guys might find the humor in this a bit twisted and different. It features a mean!Bree, Leo gone crazy, and definitely a hefty serving of siblings fluffiness.

Please enjoy!

Chronicle #051

"Abiding"

04/18/15

10:08 PM

Of all the years that Bree and I had been siblings, we had not planned and pulled a prank together, and I guess that was a good thing…for everyone else. This week, we just discovered that when we put our heads together, we can come up with a prank that would easily make the ones that Adam and Chase pull child's play.

Oh, it was brilliant. Creepy, borderline disturbing, but brilliant.

It all started Tuesday after lunch. Adam and Chase had found out about the Phone Catastrophe over the weekend and had decided to tell everyone about it. As if that wasn't enough, they decided to play the video recording which showed me and Bree fighting over the phone because of that assistant app to "teach" the kids in Social class about desperation. It was Adam's idea, but Chase didn't oppose it and actually let it happen. As far as Bree and I were concerned, they were partners-in-crime for it.

That show and tell, of course, embarrassed both of us. The other students referred to me as the 'weirdo who fell in love with his phone,' and they referred to Bree (behind her back) as the 'girl who's desperate for a boyfriend.' It had still upset me even if I was used to the pointing and laughing, but Bree was beyond that; she was enraged. Although it wasn't clearly showing on her face, it was evident in her tone when she sat down next to me during lunch Tuesday when she quietly said, "You know you and I will have to do something about this."

I glanced around the cafeteria, saw others looking then laughing, and then replied, "Mm-hm."

She nodded. "Good." Then she walked away, as if nothing happened.

We planned everything little by little, just so Adam and Chase wouldn't suspect anything. We talked at random times of the day—during trainings, during lunch, after school—and the two of them didn't seem like they knew what was going on. They were a bit suspicious because Bree and I were calm about what was happening instead of coming after them immediately. In fact, while we were eating dinner the following night, Adam asked, "You two are planning something, aren't you?"

Bree rolled her eyes. "Do you really think we'd be that immature?"

Chase thought about it. "Yes," he said.

Bree shook her head, and then just ignored the entire conversation.

Adam and Chase tried to get me to answer, but all I told them was, "If we were planning something, why would I tell you?" Then, following Bree's lead, I kept eating and said nothing else.

That night, while Adam and Chase were asleep, Bree and I acted on our plan by rigging the storage boxes we have at the quarters. We turned off the cameras first, in case they decided to check the following day, and then Bree handled the setup since she could do it much faster.

The next morning, everything was set. To make sure that Adam and Chase wouldn't miss it, after we ate breakfast, Bree told Chase, "Hey, uh, don't forget about your tablet. You need that for class today." With a look at Adam, she said, "You need yours, too, Adam."

Chase eyed her, then me, suspiciously. He then chuckled. "Oh, Bree. You're still horrible at this," he said.

"Horrible at what?" she asked innocently.

Chase shook his head, smirking. "Okay, I'll play along." He made his way towards the storage boxes, with the three of us right behind him.

"Play along with what?" Bree asked.

"Come on. I know you and Leo put something in these," Chase said. He then focused his eyes on the boxes, maybe to scan what was inside. "I'm pretty sure you…"

"We…what?" I asked.

He frowned. He looked at Adam then us. "Okay, it's either you guys were really good at concealing it, or…" He flipped his storage box open very quickly and then backed away just in case. Nothing happened. He looked into it. "So you guys really didn't put anything in."

It was our turn to frown and look at each other. "Wait, what?" Bree asked. She opened Adam's storage box. Nothing happened either. She turned towards me questioningly. "Leo?"

I shook my head before walking towards my storage box. "I don't understand," I said. "I'm sure we did—" Green, chunky goo sprayed all over me when I opened it. Meanwhile, Bree got showered with yellow, chunky goo because she opened hers, too.

As we wiped our faces clear of those awful, sticky, smelly stuff, nearby, Adam and Chase were dying of laughter. "Oh, are you really serious?" Adam said as he laughed. "You guys are bad at this!"

"I mean, Bree's track record has always been bad, but you, Leo?" Chase said as he doubled over, clutching his stomach because of how hilarious he found us to be.

Bree turned to me angrily. "Leo!" she yelled.

"What?"

"You switched it, didn't you?"

"Well," I excused, "I thought it would work better!"

"Pause," Adam called out. Before Bree and I started arguing, Adam quickly took out his tablet from his storage, with Chase doing the same after him. "Okay. Now you guys can continue this train wreck," he said. Then, they headed out.

Even after showering, twice, the smell of that thing stuck with me, which made it much more horrible. Not only did the other students call me Weirdo, they also called me Hermit. Bree's students were a bit nicer to her, but of course she wasn't happy that she had to smell like the insides of a trash can left under the summer heat for three days. She didn't speak to me throughout the day. She kept giving me evil glares, too.

Adam and Chase seemed to enjoy every bit of our misery. They didn't tease us much. They just watched the show.

When I came back to the quarters after school, I saw Bree waiting for me. I asked where Adam and Chase were, and she said they were out helping some students at the dormitory. She then apologized for yelling at me that morning and for being nasty and rude all day. I told her it was fine; I did get somewhat upset that we had to suffer socially the whole day because of what we did.

She then gave me a hug all of a sudden, but as she stepped back, she attached something to the side of my neck. When she clicked on it, a soft current pricked my skin, like static electricity, which made me give out this unmanly yelp. "What was that for?" I asked her.

She smiled widely. "For foolproof," she said. "Don't take that off, okay?"

Staring at her, I slowly began to understand what she meant. Soon, I replied with a smile, "Okay."

Adam and Chase came to the quarters with the sight of the two of us being nice to each other. Bree explained that it was because we talked things out, and she said that she had initiated some kind of agreement between us. They didn't buy it, of course, and they remained suspicious of almost everything in our living area, but after getting safely through the next day, they eased up on the thinking that something would go wrong.

Well, to them, at least. By lunch time that day, Chase picked up that there was something wrong with me. He and Adam came up to Bree and confronted her about it, right after I gave her the smoothie I made for her and saying, "Here's a smoothie for my queen." "Okay, Bree. Jig's up. What'd you do to him?" Chase asked with a brooding glance at me as I smile at him and Adam.

Bree sipped on her smoothie until a fourth of it was gone before asking, "What do you mean what did I do—"

"Leo," he answered, obviously frustrated with the clueless card Bree always played. "He's been acting weird since last night."

Bree looked at me. I looked back at her, still smiling. "What do you mean he's acting weird?" she asked Chase. "He's acting perfectly fine to me."

"Oh, come on, Bree. He's been smiling since yesterday," Adam added, notably uncomfortable with what he was seeing, too. "The Leo I know never smiles."

Bree and Chase shot him bewildered looks. "Yes he does," Chase said.

Adam thought about it. "Oh. Right. Yeah, I was thinking of someone else," he said with a chuckle.

Chase ignored what he said and instead turned towards Bree.

Seeing that she couldn't dance around it any longer, Bree sighed in annoyance. "Fine," she said. "After our prank went wrong, I decided to dig up something from Mr. Davenport's stash of inventions for something I could use, but then I found this neuro-something prototype that made whoever wore it respond immediately to commands. I tested it, and when I saw it was working, I used it on him." She shrugged. "I was only going to use it so that I can set up a trap for you guys again without Leo messing up my plans, but then I thought that having an assistant is better, so I ditched the idea and just stuck with this one."

Adam looked appalled. Chase, on the other hand, gaped in shock. "Bree! You can't do that!" he said.

Bree whined. "Aw, why not?"

"Because one, Leo is your brother, and two – you can't just slap some, some, some kind of obedienator on a human being!" Chase reasoned. "You've been under the Triton app before. How did you like it?"

Bree rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on, Chase. This is nothing like the Triton app," she said. "One, I'm nice to him, and two, I don't ask him to do things he doesn't want to do."

Chase eyed her drily. "He's making you smoothies and has been calling you 'My Queen.' I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to consciously do any of those," he said.

Bree didn't say anything. She didn't budge.

"Bree, seriously. It's either you cut him off from it or I tell Mr. Davenport what you did," Chase said.

Bree thought about it. "Can I do it Monday?"

"No. Now."

Bree sighed. "But you guys haven't even tried it," she whined again.

"I don't want to try it. Bree, this is wrong. You went too far with this," Chase said, looking at me worriedly.

"Or did she?" When all three of us looked at him questioningly, Adam said suspiciously, "This is a prank, isn't it?" He smirked. "Yeah, I thought so. There's no way Leo would just do everything you say."

Bree sat up, eyes wide. She chuckled nervously. "Yeah, this is a prank. It's not – I was just joking. Leo's fine."

Chase crossed his arms then shook his head. "I'm not falling for it," he said.

"No, look. It's a prank. He's not going to just do what I say, watch." Adam turned towards me with a grin and said, "Leo, go up to whoever comes in through the doors next, hug them, and tell them you love them."

I looked thoughtfully at him. Then, I turned towards Bree.

Bree winced as she smiled. "Sorry, Adam. He only listens to what I say," she said. "But – yes. Leo, could you be a good little brother and do what Adam asked, please?"

I looked up towards the door and waited (nervously) for the next person to come in.

When he did, I walked up to him excitedly then gave him a big hug. "Hi, Big D," I said. "I love you."

Big D was caught off guard. But then, he just started patting me on the shoulder. "You missed me, buddy?"

I stepped away from the hug then nodded. "Yes," I said.

He grinned. "Oh, I know. Things are not as fun when I'm not around," he said.

I looked back at Bree.

Bree nodded. Good job.

"So, how was your trip to Germany?" I asked, leading Big D out of the cafeteria, away from Bree, Adam and Chase who more than likely argued about the 'device' attached to me more.

That afternoon when we got back to the quarters, Chase asked Bree if she already removed the device, and with fake annoyance she told him she did. Just to be sure, Chase came up to me and asked, "Leo? You back with us, man?" With a frown, I said, "Yeah. I haven't been away. Why? Did I miss anything?" It had Chase and Adam darting a disappointed look at Bree. She just responded with a roll of the eyes and turning away.

That Saturday morning, I snuck away to the mainland to meet up with someone and then set up a surprise for Bree. I didn't really know how she'd take it, but I was hoping she'd love it. It seemed like a good idea, one that I thought she might appreciate.

When we came back to the Academy, I got everything ready. Adam, Bree and Chase were away with the other students, spending time with them as they picked on various activities to do at the ocean. I couldn't help but laugh while I was setting everything up because the plan was just genius. I felt somewhat bad, but I was giddy with excitement at the same time.

It was nearly dark out by the time they got back. Adam asked where I've been, and I told them honestly that there were just some things I had to catch up on. When Chase raised his brows at her, Bree told them that she had nothing to do with it whatsoever. She actually looked confused.

About an hour and a half later, the three of them were getting ready for bed. Meanwhile, I was just on my tablet, patiently waiting for the right time while I moved things around. When the clock struck 9:00, an alarm went off in the quarters, lights blinking urgently to warn us.

"That's a mission alert," Bree said worriedly.

"Okay. Let's go," Chase said, running back to his capsule.

As Adam and Bree step into theirs, I headed to the desk to initiate the rigs I set up earlier.

Bree rushed out of her capsule after she had changed into her mission suit, but Adam and Chase stayed in even after they had changed in theirs. They were just looking around, confused. "Guys, come on! What are you waiting for?" she called to them.

"We can't—" Chase tried to push on the glass of his capsule but was electrocuted upon contact. "Ow!"

"Ow!" Adam yelped almost soon after when he, too, got stung by the current.

"We can't get out," Chase said, confused and alarmed and frustrated.

"What do you mean you can't?" Bree looked at me questioningly. "Leo?"

I smiled. "Sorry, guys. Faked that one out. I kinda needed to contain you two in your capsules so you don't ruin everything I worked for," I said.

"Worked for?" Chase repeated. "Bree. What does he mean?"

"I don't know. I didn't tell him to do this." Then, Bree told me, "Leo, whatever you're doing, stop it right now. You're scaring us."

"Ah, no need to be scared, Big Sis," I said, waving it away. "I'm doing all of this for you."

"For me? I didn't tell you to do any of this," Bree argued.

"You still have that device on him?" Chase asked, his voice rising.

Bree ignored what he said. "Leo, like I said, stop it. You need to cut it out, whatever this is," she commanded firmly.

"No can do, mostly because someone already overrode your right to tell me what to do." When Bree gave me a confused look, I clicked on a button, cuing the person to come in. When our unexpected guest did step in, well – my siblings were horrified to say the least. "Surprise!" I said.

"Sebastian?" Chase said.

Bree shot me this really terrified look, but with a quick smirk I assured her that things were still going as they were supposed to go.

She almost broke character when she understood, but thankfully she caught herself beforehand.

"What did you do?" Chase asked me.

"I broke him out," I told him. "Bree's been very sad these past few days because of the students teasing her about being desperate for a boyfriend. I figured she won't be sad if she did have one. Then I remembered Sebastian. I did some research, came to where they were keeping them, and I got him out."

Before Chase could say anything, 'Sebastian' sighed in fake disappointment. "Oh, Chase. I thought that by now, you would have been better at this."

"Whatever you're planning, it's not going to work," Chase responded. "You have nothing without your bionics."

"Why would I need bionics when I have your sister and your brother?"

"You can't control them," Chase said. "Bree, you got this?"

Bree nodded. "I got it."

'Sebastian' nodded towards me. "Do it."

I clicked on another button before Bree could move. Soon, her eyes glowed that mechanical bright green, the activation taking away any expression from her face. She stayed put in her spot.

Adam stepped forward worriedly, close enough to see her better but far enough to not be electrocuted again. "Bree?" he called to her, but of course she didn't respond. She just turned around to look at him blankly.

'Sebastian' smugly smiled at Chase. He crossed his arms. "You were saying?"

Chase looked shocked and horrified and puzzled and pretty much all kinds of emotions in the negative side of the spectrum. Instead of talking to Sebastian, though, he talked to me. "What did you just do?" he asked.

"I activated the Triton app," I said happily. "Cool, huh? I found the code lying around in Douglas' files when I was digging for information."

"Are you out of your mind? You can't do this! This is not cool," Adam tried to reason with me. "Bree's your family. You can't control her."

I frowned a little. "But she did it to me," I said. After thinking over it, I added, "Actually, you did, too. Isn't it only fair for me to do the same to you?"

'Sebastian' nodded. "I think so," he said.

Adam looked terrified as I typed something on the computer. With a look at Chase, he said in a panic, "Do something."

When I looked up, I saw Chase touching his temple, his brows knitted tensely. He shot a look at Adam before turning his eyes back to me. "My override app is not working," he said. "I can't connect to Bree."

"Of course you can't. I disabled it," I said.

"How?" Chase asked.

I shrugged. "Dug for it, too."

At that point, Adam and Chase looked like they had no idea what else to do. "The others are not going to listen to you, Sebastian," Chase said to him pointedly. "We've already talked to them. They know everything now. You won't be able to convince them to join you."

'Sebastian' shrugged. "Fine. I'll have Bree and Leo convince them. They'll listen," he said. He thought about it. "Or, you know what? Since you took my siblings, how about I take yours? Sounds fair?"

"Hey, leave them out of this!" Adam growled.

'Sebastian' chuckled. "Oh, I don't think I've ever seen you this upset, Adam," he remarked. He looked at me with a smirk. "Well, at least it's been a while since I saw it."

I tried not to let them see me grin.

"We mean it. Stay away from both of them," Chase insisted seriously.

"If I don't, what can you do about it?" he challenged.

"Let us out of our capsules and you'll find out," Adam said.

'Sebastian' pretended to think about it. "Okay. But first…" he turned to me with a smirk.

"Activating their Triton app, got it," I said before typing a command on the computer.

That freaked Adam and Chase out, especially when the lights in their capsules turned dark green. "Leo," Chase called out to me. "Leo, please listen to me. You don't have to do what Sebastian tells you to do. He's an enemy. He almost hurt our family. He almost hurt you."

'Sebastian' shook his head. "It's way too late for that now," he says.

I cued another command on the computer, and it caused Adam to flinch.

"Adam?" Chase called to him worriedly. Then, he flinched, too, as he felt what Adam felt.

"It's better if you both close your eyes. Trust me," 'Sebastian' advised.

"A few more seconds, and…"

"Leo, no!"

"Stop!"

I clicked on a button to activate something – something that was not the Triton app.

After a quick whirring sound in their capsules, sticky slime started spraying down on Adam and Chase. Adam's capsule soon filled with red, and Chase's filled with blue. We watched, laughing, as both of them made disgusted noises.

When it had finished, their capsules opened up.

"What…" Chase attempted to ask as he wiped his face clear of the slime, but he was so confused – and maybe a bit angry – that he couldn't even finish what he wanted to say.

Bree hurriedly picked up my tablet from the couch then snapped a picture of the two of them. She grinned as she looked at the ones she took. "Ooh, perfect. Don't even need a filter for that," she said.

Adam tried to step out of his capsule, holding onto the glass as he began slipping because of the liquid. "What is this?" he asked, looking down on his very soaked mission suit. He glared up at us. "What did you guys just do?"

"Pulled the best prank ever," I said with a grin.

"Wait. So this is a… And you're not…" Chase frowned. He blinked. "Okay, what?"

"Yes, this is a prank. Leo and I just wanted to mess with you guys," Bree said, crossing her arms as she smirked.

Adam and Chase just stared at her.

"Oh, uh, Bree?" I gestured towards her eyes.

"Oh." She turned to the side as she removed something. Then, she showed it to them with a grin. "Specialized contacts," she said. "I was never under the Triton app."

"But, how come when I tried to connect to you, it wouldn't go?" Chase asked.

As Bree walked back to her capsule, I answered, "Because she didn't have her chip in her. We had it extracted when she first stepped in."

Adam looked at me. "So you…"

I laughed. "There was never a device. It was all for show. We wanted you guys to buy into everything, and it seems like it worked," I said.

Chase shook his head. "I still don't understand."

"This prank has been going on since Thursday morning," Bree explained, "starting with that fake prank-gone-wrong prank. Leo and I rigged our own storage boxes on purpose so you guys would think that we fought over something. Then that led to me pretending like I used a fake device on Leo, and him turning against us like this. Although…" She turned around with a frown then pointed at 'Sebastian.' "That wasn't part of the plan."

"I know. He's just an added bonus. I just wanted to bring him in," I said with a grin.

Bree's eyes slightly widened. It seemed to have scared Adam and Chase, too.

"Oh, relax. That's not Sebastian," I said. "Just an old friend coming to visit."

'Sebastian' clicked on the button for the cyber mask, and soon he was back to his real features. He walked over to us and asked, "Did I sell the part?"

"You sold the part, dude. Great job," I said, patting him on the back.

Bree's eyebrows were still knitted, but a grin started coming up on her face as she recognized him. "Gordon?" she said. "Your friend from freshman year Gordon?"

"Yeah. He came back to Mission Creek to visit his grandparents this week. He gave me a call yesterday, and after we hung out I asked him if he wanted to come over and help me with something, and he said yes," I explained.

"And you said you'd give me a tour of the island," Gordon added.

"Yeah, we'll get to that in a bit."

At this point, Chase was fuming. "So you got both of us all worked up just for…for this?" he asked, gesturing at the goo covering him from head to toe.

Bree and I exchanged glances. I nodded. "Yep."

"You two scared us!" Chase said. "What you two did really got inside my head, and – this is too far. You two went overboard."

Adam nodded in agreement.

"And by showing that video with the phone, both of you did, too," Bree replied seriously.

Chase rolled his eyes. Adam scoffed. "Oh, come on. That one was funny," he said.

"Would you also find it funny if Leo and I posted these pictures online? Or if we showed the video feed of you two getting tricked into thinking we've turned against you?" Bree asked. When Adam and Chase understood, she added, calmer that time, "You know, most stuff we'd let through, but to take an embarrassing moment like that of us, your siblings, and making it public? It hurts."

"Especially when you know why we would be acting a certain way," I mumbled with a look at Chase, reminding him of the conversation we had a few weeks back.

Adam still didn't buy it. "But we do it to Chase all the time," he reasoned.

Bree smiled sadly then apologetically glanced at Chase. "Good lesson for all of us to learn, Adam, don't you think?" she said. Then, she turned around and walked away.

"You guys may want to wash those out. The dyes are pretty strong, and if you leave it on, you might look like blueberry. And a cherry soda," I said, glancing at Chase then Adam. I nodded towards the hydroloop. "Come on, Gordon. Let's do a quick tour before Big D comes back," I told him. Then, we left.

I was worried that Adam and Chase would get back at us for what we did, but they didn't. Even if they had colored patches all over them. It was a bit suspicious how they acted as if nothing happened, but I guess Bree made a really good argument with what she said last night.

Bree. She really is turning into a mini-Mom.

I feel bad that what we did seemed to have really shaken Adam and Chase up. Giddy with excitement for that prank win, too, of course, but bad. Seeing them frazzled was funny, but then remembering their protectiveness when they thought Sebastian had come to take us away was nice, which makes the guilt a bit worse. If only they had been that protective when it comes to that video, though, all of this wouldn't have happened.

Speaking of what happened, I guess it's a good thing Bree and I are not on the bad guys side. Man. That plan we came up with. That would have put Krane to shame.

Needless to say, even if we succeeded this prank, the next one's gonna be much lighter. Much, much lighter. Like programming the capsules to change Adam, Bree and Chase into JAnimals instead of changing them into their pajamas whenever they step in for bedtime lighter.

Leo Francis Dooley

The Chase Chronicles

What was the name of Douglas' long lost dog? Answers and reviews are appreciated!

Okay, here's an end note shout-out to Lady Cougar-Trombone, Yuki F. Karasu, LRW, and AllAmericanSlurp because, even after fifty crazy chapters, you guys remembered! Leo called this The A-Bionic Chronicles because when he first started this, he was not bionic.

The trivia: If you remove the article 'The' from the title, you'd get A-Bionic Chronicles. If you strip it down more to acronyms, you'd get A-Bionic Chronicles, which stands for Adam, Bree and Chase. Though Leo is the main storyteller in this, the main subjects have mostly been his siblings. But, it also goes vice versa, because the more he talks about them, the more he reveals about himself. That's why Leo's line in the 26th chapter, where he said, "The Chronicle was about all of you. And me, but mostly you," is actually a lean on the fourth wall. ;)

Anyways, on a somewhat relevant note, congrats, Lady Cougar-Trombone, for giving the correct answer first! I'd love to write a one-shot prize for you, so please PM me the details of what you would like!

Two more chapters, guys, and we'll be caught up!
