Write's Comment: This is a long chapter. It was a chapter I knew I would some day write when I started this story. I've been working on it on and off for quite a while. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for reading my other stories. I still get reviews on them.

Brittany was looking through her work emails on her phone as she sat in the van outside of the high school waiting for Collin to come out after basketball practice. She was concentrating on reading her emails and hadn't seen him come out of the school, so she jumped a little when she heard the him open the door to put his backpack and gym bag in the back of the van. Collin opened the front seat and got in the van without saying a word as he buckled his seatbelt.

Brittany watched her son and gave him a smile when finally looked at her. He gave her a little smile in return but his smile wasn't as genuine or bright as it usually was. It had been that way for past couple of weeks which caused great concern for Brittany and Santana. Collin had always been open with them when something was bothering but this time was different. Something clearly was bothering him, but he wasn't opening up to anyone about it.

"How as your day and how was practice?" Brittany asked as she drove away from the school.

"Ok", was the answer he gave.

"How was the Algebra test?" Brittany asked hoping to get more than a one-word answer from him.

"Ok", Collin repeated the one-word answer once again.

Brittany looked over at Collin when she had to stop at a red light and noticed he was looking out the window like he was in deep thought. Normally, if he was the only kid in the vehicle he would be talking non-stop since it was difficult to get a word sometimes when all five of the kids were together. It broke Brittany's heart to see him like this. She wanted so much to ask him if he was ok and if there was something on his mind but Santana and she had asked him so many times he was getting frustrated with them. Their son was now in 9th grade and was going through puberty so they were all going through some major changes together.

The light turned green so Brittany pressed the gas pedal to go and just as she did Collin spoke in a quiet voice, "Mom, I can ask you and Mama anything and you won't get mad at me right?"

Brittany quickly turned to look at Collin who was now looking at her with a sadness in his eyes she had never seen from him. She immediately pulled the van into a store parking lot and turned so she was facing him. "Sweetie, you can ask your Mama and me anything, and we will never get mad at you. We've been worried about you because we can tell something important has been on your mind. Mama and I will always be here for you because we love you so much."

Collin had tears in his eyes which he quickly wiped away. "I've been wanting to ask you both something, but I was afraid you'd get mad at me."

"Why do you think we'd get mad at you?"

Collin at first shrugged his shoulders but a few seconds later said, "Because I don't want you to think I don't love having two mothers. I don't want you to think I don't want you to be Mom anymore."

Brittany was confused as to why Collin was saying what he was saying but she knew he was struggling with his emotions. Tears welled up in her eyes as she reached over and hugged Collin. "I love you Collin. I have loved you from the day you were born, and nothing will ever change that." Brittany reluctantly backed out of the hug. "How about later tonight after all of the kids have gone to bed you, Mama, and me spend some time together and you can ask us your question? Would you like to do that?"

Collin nodded his head yes and let out a breath like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

When they got home, Santana was in the kitchen fixing dinner. She was surprised when Collin gave her a big hug and kiss on the cheek before running off to his room. Santana looked at Brittany and she tell something had happened by the look in her eyes. Brittany walked over to Santana and hugged her tightly for several seconds. "Britt, what's going on? You're scaring me."

Brittany pulled back enough from the hug so she could see Santana's face. "Collin told me that he has something he has been wanting to ask us but he was afraid we'd get mad at him. He also said he didn't want us to think he didn't love having two mothers."

Santana gave Brittany a puzzled look. "Why would be afraid to ask something and why would he worry we would think he didn't love having two mothers?"

"There's one more thing. He said he didn't want me to think he didn't want me to be his mother anymore." Brittany started to get chocked again. "I told him we loved him and that he can ask us anything and we would never get mad him. I also told him I have loved him since the day he was born and nothing would ever change that. I told him after the other kids go to bed the three us can spend some time together so he can ask his question."

"We knew something had been bothering him but this sounds more serious than I thought it was. What question could he possibly want to ask us that he was worried would make a mad? And why was he worried you might think he doesn't want you to be his mother anymore?"

"I don't know. All the way home I let my mind go crazy trying to figure it out. We'll find out when he asks us." Brittany and Santana held each other tightly once again.

"I just hope we have the answer." Santana said her voice laced with emotion.

During dinner Santana and Brittany didn't eat much because they both were nervous about what Collin wanted to ask them. They watched their children talk to each other as they ate. Normally they would've scolded them for talking with their mouths full and talking over each other but tonight none of that seemed to matter. They were happy to see Collin was smiling and interacting with his siblings. For the past few weeks he had been a bit withdrawn from his siblings. It was a difficult time for Collin because he was in the midst of puberty which meant a part of him was starting to want to be more grownup but a there still was the little boy in him that wanted to play.

Santana got the girls ready for bed while Brittany got the boys ready. Maya was twelve years old and a little diva at times. Charlie was nine years old and had been cancer free for five years. She had a special bond with Matthew. Santana and Brittany had explained to all of the kids except for Matthew how he had helped make Charlie well and cancer free. Riley at twelve was still the quiet and thoughtful sibling. Santana and Brittany were surprised that Riley still wanted to share a bedroom with Matthew. Riley was getting older and Matthew, who was five years old, could be a handful at times. Riley knew whenever he was wanted to have the bedroom to himself all he had to was tell his mothers because there was an extra bedroom waiting for him. Then there was Matthew, the child that wasn't planned, but it was clear he was meant to be a part of their family. He was a handful and with Santana and Brittany both 45 years now he tired them out on a daily basis. Although Brittany said he kept them young.

When all of the younger children were all in bed, Santana went to Collins bedroom, and knocked on the door. Collin told her to come in and when she opened the door she found him just sitting in the middle of his bed looking down. It was like he was waiting for one of his mother's to come and knock on the door to tell him the other children were in bed and they could talk.

Santana walked into the room and sat on the edge of the bed. "Mom, told me you have something you want to ask us. We've known something has been on your mind so we're glad you finally feel comfortable to talk to us. We don't want you to ever be afraid to ask us anything, but we also understand sometimes it may take some time before you are ready to open up to us. I love you so much." Santana hugged and kissed him on the cheek. "Mom is making your favorite drink. Do you want to talk to us here in your room and in our room?"

"Your room." Collin said quietly. Santana wasn't surprised at all when Collin chose their room. The king size bed in their bedroom had become a safe haven for all of their kids. It's the place they feel safe when they have a bad dream, are sick, feeling sad, or need some one on one love from their mothers. It's also a place where many nights all 5 of the kids have slept with their mothers. Collin was getting older and didn't sleep in their bed anymore, but he spent time with his siblings watching movies, playing board games, or enjoying a late-night cup of hot chocolate.

When Santana and Collin got to the bedroom Brittany was nowhere to be found but as soon as they sat on the bed she came in carrying a tray with three thick chocolate milk shakes on it. Collin gave a little smile when he saw the milkshakes. Each one of the kids had their favorite comfort drink, and Santana and Brittany would always make them when they needed comforting.

Brittany handed a milkshake to Collin and Santana before taking her own off the tray and sitting on the bed. Collin sucked on the straw and of course the milkshake was perfect. Thick but not so thick that you had a difficult time sucking it through the straw. The three enjoyed their milkshakes for a couple of minutes. "I think these were the best you've ever made Mom." Collin said as he wiped his mouth on the back of his hand. Normally they would've scolded him but not tonight.

"I think I agree with Collin these are the best you've ever made Britt." Santana said as she placed her milkshake glass on the tray Brittany had set on the nightstand. Brittany handed her glass to Santana to put on the tray. When they both looked at Collin he was now sitting cross legged with his head down seeming to be staring at his milkshake glass. Santana touch one his legs while Brittany touched the other one. Feeling his mothers' touches Collin slowly looked up at them and with a look of sadness mixed with a little bit of fear.

"Maybe I shouldn't ask you my question." Collin's voice was quiet, but you could tell his voice was starting to change because of puberty.

Santana looked at Brittany, "Sweetie, it's up to you if you want to ask us now or maybe take some more time to think about it."

"I'm afraid you might get mad and think I'm not happy having two moms. I don't want Mom to think I don't want her to be mother anymore or that I don't love her anymore."

Santana and Brittany looked at one another again. It broke their hearts to see their son struggling so much. "Collin, there's nothing you could ever say or ask that would make me not love you anymore."

Collin took one long drink of his milkshake before handing the glass to Santana to put on the tray. "A couple of weeks ago in health class, you know we were talking about…um, sex." Collin's cheeks turned red because saying the word 'sex' to your parents is just plan embarrassing for a 15-year-old who in three months would be 16 years old.

Brittany and Santana had signed the permission slip for Collin to participate in the sex education portion of his health class even though they had talked to him about sex when he started asking questions at an earlier age. The school was having a special group come in and talked to the 9th graders about sex including LGBTQ. The group was made up of four young teachers who had put the program together themselves. Santana and Britany read the information provided by the school and then talked to Colling about it. They were ok with him participating in the special program but left the final decision up to him. He said he wanted to participate in it.

"We were wondering how that went but we knew you'd come to us if you had any questions." Santana watched as the redness in Collin's cheeks disappeared.

"It was ok. I understood everything they talked about because you two had already told me everything. When they talked about how some couples use sperm donors..." Collin stopped talking and swallowed hard. "After class, Stacy asked me...(Collin stopped talking again and let out a deep breath)…if I knew anything about the donor Mama picked. She didn't say it in a mean way she just asked me." Collin's shoulder lowered like a big weight had been lifted off by saying it out loud. He looked at Santana, "Can you tell me something about him or shouldn't I ask you about him?"

Santana and Brittany had known the day was going to come when probably all of their children would be curious and ask about the sperm donors. They had already started talking to Maya about sex because she started asking about it at age 8. They were even thinking she might be the first one to ask about the sperm donor they had used for her and Riley. Riley hadn't asked any questions yet. Charlie didn't start asking questions until Maya told her everything their mothers had told her about sex. Charlie asked a few questions but quickly lost interest. Matthew's world was all about his toys so he hadn't asked any questions yet, but the day would come when he had questions too.

Santana and Brittany looked into each other's eyes, and they both saw a little hint of panic. They had talked a lot about what they would say if Collin asked them about the sperm donor. They had included Andrew and Sugar in the conversations on how to answer the question. They thought they had prepared themselves as best they could to answer the question but now that the actual time had arrived they didn't seem so prepared.

Collin started to panic when his mothers sat there silently looking at each other for a few seconds. Those few seconds felt like an eternity to him. He was just about to tell his mothers they didn't need to answer his question when Santana spoke first as she put her hand on his arm.

"You know you can ask us about anything that you have questions about, including the sperm donor." Santana cleared her throat before continuing to talk. "You know the story about how Mom and I met at the doctor's office." Collin nodded his head and smiled a little because they had heard the story several times about the day their mothers met for the first time. They never told the kids why they both were at the doctor just that that was where they met one another. "Now that you're older there are details you should know about what we were both doing at the doctor's office that day."

Collin got a confused looked on his face, "I don't understand why the day you and Mom met has anything to do with the donor?"

Santana continued, "Well…before your mom and I even met we each wanted to have a baby. The day we met at the doctor's office we were both there to go through the procedure to get pregnant. Do you remember your mom and I told about how the procedures works?"

Collin nodded his head yes, "Yeah and we talked about it in class too." Collin's voice cracked because as open as Santana and Brittany were with him about sex it still was awkward to talk to them about it which is completely normal.

Santana looked at Brittany who was biting her bottom lip which meant she was nervous. Santana reached over put her hand on Brittany's leg which cause her to look at Santana. They shared a reassuring look before Santana continued on.

"Your mom and I both had the procedure done and we met when we were at the receptionist's desk scheduling our next doctor's appointment. I looked into your mother's beautiful blue eyes and I swear my heart skipped a beat." Santana looked into Brittany's eyes as she said the last sentence.

Collin was used to his mothers making lovey-dovey faces at one another but right now he was impatient to get onto finding out about the donor. "Mama, can you get we get back to the donor?"

Santana and Brittany broke their gaze upon hearing Collin's question. When they looked at him and saw the same beautiful blue eyes looking at them a little bit sad and confused, they knew they needed to hurry the story along.

"I'm sorry sweetie just hang in there and you'll understand why all of this important when we're finished. Two weeks later when I went back to the doctor for my appointment I was hoping to run into Mom again. I even went to my appointment a little early, but she wasn't there. That was the day the doctor told me I was pregnant with you. I was so happy. When I left the doctor's office, I saw Mom sitting in her car crying. I knocked on the window to see if she was ok and when I saw how upset she was I got into the car. We ended up going for coffee and that was the start of us and our relationship." Santana didn't want to go into all of the ups and downs they had in the beginning.

"Mom, why were you crying in your car?"

"I found out from the doctor that day the procedure didn't work and I wasn't going to have a baby." Brittany's voice quivered because even though she has since given birth to the twins, she had suffered several miscarriages over the years. Each and every one of them was still painful today and she felt the loss.

"I'm sorry." Collin said and then he moved closer to Brittany and gave her a hug. She hugged him back tightly. Santana watched them hug and felt tears in her eyes.

The three of them took a minute to take a few sips of their chocolate milkshakes before Santana continued. "Your Mom and I became girlfriends after spending more time together. I met Grandpa and Grandma Pierce, and Uncle Andrew that Christmas. I was about 5 months pregnant with you." Santana took a deep breath and let it out. "Have you ever met someone, and you immediately feel like you met that person before even though you know you haven't?"

Collin looked a little confused, "No, not really but I've heard grownups say that before, I always just thought it must something that happens when you get older and memory isn't as good as it used to be."

Santana and Brittany shared a quick smile at what Collin had said. "Someday it will happen to you and you'll understand what I'm saying. The day I met Uncle Andrew, I immediately had a feeling I had met him before. I thought about it for awhile and then just decided he looks so much like your Mom that was probably why he looked familiar to me."

"Mom and Uncle Andrew do look a lot alike. They could be twins. People always tell me I look like Mom because I have the same blonde hair and blue eyes. It's really strange because I know Mama carried me as a baby not Mom but, yet I look more like Mom."

Brittany and Santana could hear the confusion in Collin's voice and hoped in that moment they were going to be able to explain to Collin why he looks so much like a Pierce without confusing him any further. It was true, people over the years had always assumed Brittany had carried Collin and were surprised to find out it was Santana.

Santana suddenly started to panic because she didn't know what to say next. She knew she just couldn't blurt out Uncle Andrew was the donor. Then she found herself getting off the bed and walking over to her dresser. She opened one of the drawers and took out a manila envelope. She walked back over to the bed and sat down. Brittany knew what was in the envelope and gave Santana a reassuring smile.

Santana took a deep breath, "When I chose the donor, I got see pictures of him as an adult and a child. Some donors allow you to keep a picture of them, others don't. The donor I chose allowed me to keep a picture of him when he was a child." Santana slowly opened the envelope and took out the small picture. She took a deep breath and looked down at the picture and looked at Brittany for reassurance and support for what she was about to do. Brittany nodded her head yes and mouthed the words "I love you".

Collin hadn't seen the exchange between his mother's because his eyes were fixed on what was in his Mama's hand. "This is a picture of the donor when he was a child." Santana's hand shook slightly as she handed the picture to Collin.

Colling studied the picture for several seconds. Santana and Brittany watched his facial expressions and his eyes, he was intensely looking at the picture. He finally looked up from the picture, "Um…this little boy has blonde hair and blue eyes just like me. He…um…kinda looks like the pictures of Uncle Andrew that Grandma and Grandpa Pierce have on their wall." Brittany's parents had a one whole wall full of family pictures. They had pictures of everyone in the family from the time they were babies until the present. All of the kids enjoy looking at the wall of pictures because their grandparents had a story to go with every picture.

Santana reached into the envelope once again and pulled out a piece of paper. The paper had information about the donor on it.

Donor Profile

Age 25

Hair Color – Blonde

Eye Color – Blue

Height – 6 feet

Weight – 180 pounds

Ethnic Background – Dutch

Education – Bachelors Degree in Computer Science

Occupation – Firefighter

Santana swallowed hard before handing the piece of paper to Collin. He reached out for the paper to take the paper. Santana and Brittany knew once Santana let go of the paper Collin would know everything and his world would be a changed forever. Santana let go of the paper and said quietly, "This is the information I have about the donor."

Santana and Brittany once again watched Collin's face as he read the donor profile. After several seconds he eyes looked at the picture he still held in his other hand. His eyes went back and forth from picture to paper. Finally, after a few minutes he looked up

"It's weird how this little boy looks like Uncle Andrew, and it says he is a firefighter like him. He also has a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science like Uncle Andrew." Collin looked back at the picture and paper once again. Andrew was the family computer guru, and even had started a side business where he fixed and built computers for people. Collin loved computers and had spent time with Andrew when he was working on them. Collin looked at his mothers with a confused look, "Everything about this person is just like Uncle Andrew. That's strange. Don't you think it's strange?" Collin looked back down at the picture.

Santana felt the anxiety and panic building up in her entire body. Brittany noticed the look in Santana's eyes, so she grabbed her hand tight. Brittany knew it was her who would be the one to tell Collin about Andrew. When they talked about it this day and how they would tell Collin, the one thing they never really talked about was who would utter the words "Uncle Andrew was the sperm donor." Now that it was time, Brittany knew she would need to be the one.

Brittany scooted closer to Collin on the bed and put her right arm around his shoulders. He was still intently looking at the picture. Brittany reached out her left for Santana to hold, and when she felt Santana give her hand a little squeeze, she knew it was time. It was time to tell Collin.

"Collin, look me." Brittany managed to say even though her throat felt like it was tightening up. Collin looked at his mother and she could see the confusion in his eyes. "The little boy in the picture is Uncle Andrew." Collin looked quickly at the picture and then back to his mother. "Uncle Andrew is the donor your Mama chose." There it was the words had been spoken and it was out in the open.

"No. No you're joking right?" Collin's voice cracked, a little from puberty and a lot from emotion.

Santana moved so she was sitting directly in front of Collin. "It's no joke honey. Uncle Andrew was the donor I chose out of all of the ones I could've chosen from. When I met him at Christmas, I just knew I had seen him somewhere before and finally I put it all together. I panicked and was scared when I figured it out. I went through a lot of emotions just like you're going through now." Santana and Brittany both watched their son as he kept taking deep breaths and he stared at the picture once again.

"Why? Why made you choose him over all of the ones you could've chosen?" Collin asked as tears filled his eyes. He wasn't angry, he just wanted to know what made his mother pick Andrew.

"I chose him because his report showed he had no health problems, he was college graduate, and he was a firefighter. I knew someone who was a firefighter was brave and willing to put their life on the line to save others. I also chose him because he had kind eyes. I know that may sound like a silly reason. The picture I saw of Uncle Andrew as an adult was a picture of him in his firefighter's dress uniform. When I looked at his eyes it was like he was really in front of me and I could see his soul. I know this is all too much for you to understand at your age. I saw the same kindness when I looked into your Mom's eyes for the first time, and I see it in your eyes too." Santana couldn't hold back the tears that had been building for the past few minutes. She broke down crying from all of the different emotions she was feeling at that moment. Brittany wrapped her arms around Santana and held her tight as the tears fell down Brittany's face too. Collin sat there on the bed watching his mothers emotional embrace. He could only imagine how shock they were when they figured out Andrew was the donor Santana had chosen. Collin moved closer and put her arms around both of his mothers as the three of them cried.

A few minutes later Collin removed his arms from around his mothers. Santana and Brittany reluctantly also broke their embrace. All three wiped their tears away and blew their noses.

Collin was the first to speak. "All of this seems like a dream. A part of me is wondering if I should've asked about it but a part of me feels relieved the donor was someone I know. I don't know how to feel right now, there's so many thoughts in my head."

"We understand, when we first realized Andrew was the donor, we had those same thoughts. After the initial shock, we all felt it was meant to be. The day your Mom and I met at the doctor's office was meant to be and you were meant to be our son." Brittany's voice quivered with emotion when she spoke the last sentence.

"What about the donors for the other kids?" Collin asked wondering if his mothers knew their donors.

Brittany's eyes were red from crying and she cleared her throat as she answered. "We don't know those donors personally." Santana and Brittany knew Matthew's donor because of the mix up at the doctor's but that was something they weren't sure if they were ever going to tell their children. It was something they would decide when Matthew was older and if he started asking questions.

Santana put her arm around Collin, "You're going to have questions and we want you to come to us no matter what questions you have, don't be afraid to ask us anything. Ok?" Collin nodded his head yes.

"Why did Uncle Andrew do…I mean why did he…why was he a donor?" Collin was stumbling with his words because he wasn't quite sure how to ask the question.

"We know the answer but that is something Uncle Andrew can answer better than us." Brittany knew Andrew needed to answer that question.

"NO! We can't ask him that question. He can't find out about this!" Collin shouted. He jumped off the bed and sat on the love seat in their bedroom. He had his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands.

Santana and Brittany hurried to Collin's side. Santana sat beside him and immediately put her arm around his shoulder, hugging his tightly. Brittany kneeled on the floor in front of him. "Collin, look at me." Collin didn't look at her Mom. "Collin, please look at me." Brittany's voice was soft and full of care and concern. Collin finally looked up at his Mom with tearing streaming down his face. Santana rubbed his back. "Sweetie, Uncle Andrew already knows."

Collin got a look of panic on his face as the tears fell quicker down his face. "He already knows, he must hate me."

"Your uncle loves you so much. He could never hate you." Brittany put a hand on each side of Collin's face as she spoke and looked directly into his eyes.

"How did he find out?"

Santana looked at Brittany letting her know she would answer the question. "When your Mom and I figured out Uncle Andrew was the donor we knew we had to tell him. It just wasn't something we could keep from him. When we told him, he was shocked and surprised of course but he felt the same way we did that it was meant to be."

Collin's head was spinning with everything he had learned tonight. "Does anyone else know?"

Santana continued to rub his back, "Your grandparents all know, Aunt Sugar, Quinn, and Puck."

Collin took in a deep breath and let it out because that seemed like a lot who knew truth. "What about the other kids? Do we have to tell them someday?"

Santana and Brittany looked at one another because that was a good question one which they didn't have a yes or no answer to. "Sweetie, your Mama and I don't have an answer for you. We never know what the future will bring. For right now let's concentrate on what we told you tonight. Do you have any more questions?"

Collin thought for a few seconds and then shook his head no. "I think I just want to go to my room and be alone if that's ok?"

"Whatever you need just remember we are right here if you need us tonight." Santana said before kissing Collin on the check.

Brittany stood up and Collin got up from the couch. She hugged him and kissed his forehead. "We love so much Collin."

Collin looked his mother's, "I love you too." Collin opened the bedroom door and walked out.

Brittany sat on the couch beside Santana and immediately fell into each other's arms crying. They stayed that way for several minutes. "I think we did the best we could don't you?" Santana finally asked.

"Yeah, I think we did too." Brittany sniffed as she spoke. "We need to let Andrew know that Collin knows everything." Brittany got her cellphone, Santana and she made the call they knew they would be making someday.

The next morning Collin was sitting in the treehouse in their yard. It was quite a big treehouse. He hadn't been up there in quite a while, the younger kids played in there now like he used to. He was deep in thought about everything when he heard someone coming climbing up into the treehouse. He then saw Andrew's head pop up through the entrance. His mothers had told him they had called Andrew the night and told them about their talk. Collin looked down when he glanced into Andrew's eyes.

"Is it ok if I join you?" Andrew asked with a bit of emotion in his voice. He hadn't slept all night after receiving the call.

"Yeah", Collin said as he moved to give his uncle room.

When Andrew was in the treehouse he sat down beside Collin. They sat there in silence for a few minutes. Andrew cleared his throat, "When your mothers told me I was the donor I was so shocked my face got hot and I thought I might faint, but I didn't. The first time I saw you after you were born, I thought to myself he is like the perfect mixture of Brittany and Santana. I didn't tell your mothers that but a few minutes later it all made sense when they told me I was the donor. After I got over the shock and had time to process everything, I was so happy for mothers. They both wanted a baby so badly. Is there anything you want to ask me?"

Collin still couldn't look at Andrew, so he looked down, "Did you ever think of me as your son?"

"I will admit at first I was worried about how I might react but to answer your question, no I've never thought of you as my son because you are my nephew. My sister and her wife are your parents. I'm the donor." Andrew didn't want to say a lot that might confuse Collin but he hoped he had said enough to answer his question.

Collin seemed to except the answer because he asked another question, "Why did become a donor?"

Andrew felt tears coming to eyes, "Your Mom, my sister, had wanted a baby for years. She never met the right woman, so she decided to have a baby on her own. Unfortunately, no matter how many times she tried it didn't work out for her and it made her sad. It made me sad to see her so unhappy. I kept wishing there was something I could do to help her but there wasn't anything I could really do. So, I decided to become a donor to maybe help someone else who wanted a baby. Have you ever felt helpless and wished you could help one of your brothers or sisters?"

Collin looked up and into Andrew's eyes for the first time. "Yeah, when Charlie had cancer. I wished every day there was something I could do to make her better, make the pain go away but there wasn't anything I could do."

Andrew put her arm around Collin's shoulders as silent tears fell down Collin's face. "And what did you do when you were sad because you couldn't help Charlie?"

"I asked my moms if I could use some of my money I had been saving to buy a video game console for the cancer floor playroom. I figured it might help the sick kids take their minds of being sick for a few minutes. I got to see the kids playing the games and sometimes I played with them. It made me feel like I was helping in some way."

"That's exactly how I felt about becoming a donor. I couldn't help my sister, but I could help someone else. I never dreamed in the end I would be helping my sister. Do you have any other questions right now?" Collin shook his head no. "I want to you I'm if you ever have any questions you'd like to ask me. Promise me if you need to talk that you will come to your mothers or me."

"I promise." Collin said.

"How about we play some hoops? I hear you've improved your 3-point shot since the last time we played." Andrew stood up the best he could in the treehouse and climbed down with Collin following him.

Santana and Brittany had been nervously waiting in the house wondering what was going on in the treehouse. The other kids were with their grandparents. When they saw Andrew and Collin came down, they couldn't tell if the talk went ok or not. Collin ran to the garage and got the basketball. He took a 3-point shot and it went swish in through the net. He smiled for the first time since last night.

Andrew high-fived him and smiled back. "Awesome shot!"

Santana and Brittany saw the interaction and felt a sense of relief. Collin and Andrew were playing basketball and interacting like they always had done."Hey, how about a little two on two, boys versus girls?" Brittany shouted as she and Santana walked out to where they were playing basketball.

Andrew and Collin looked at each other and rolled their eyes. "Come on Sis, you know you and Santana have no chance against Collin and me. Besides Santana might break a nail."

Santana acted offended by Andrew's remark, "Those are fighting words."

"You two ladies can have the ball first." Andrew said as he threw the ball to Santana, who almost dropped it because it was true, she didn't want to break a nail. She has just gotten a manicure the day before.

Santana threw the ball to Brittany who immediately dribbled and made a layup. The two women high fived each other. Brittany threw the ball to Andrew. Now it was the boys turn. Brittany was guarding Andrew, and Santana was guarding Collin. Andrew threw the ball to Collin who took a few dribbles and threw the ball back to Andrew who dribbled the ball towards the basket like he was going to make layup but at the last second he threw it back to Collin who hit a perfect 3-point all net. Santana who had been guarding Collin looked at him and he just shrugged his shoulder. Andrew and Collin chest butted each other.

Years later when Santana and Brittany remember the day they told Collin about Andrew, they feel in their hearts they did the best they could've done. There were talks and more questions in future. Collin and Andrew's relationship as nephew and uncle stayed strong. To Collin he was still Uncle Andrew.
