Matt was right. I hadn't seen him in person for a few days. He still responded to texts, so that was something. I didn't miss him much yet, but it was lonelier than I expected. I couldn't really expect him to always to go to Chicks. Luckily, I could be happy in my expectation for today.
As I walked by his booth, I squeezed my boyfriend in my arms and kissed him on his cheek. "Matt! How are you holding up, sweet thing?"
Matt laughed nervously. "I'm hanging in there." Something told me it was just barely so. He turned his head to kiss me lightly but still kept his eyes on his notes.
I ruffled his hair before I went over to my side.
Matt sighed and craned his neck. "I'm pretty sure I'm going crazy."
"Want me to distract you?" I offered.
"I really don't know."
I decided on business as usual. I told him about my day and the other days he had missed. How his cousin was acting stranger than usual. Left out the part with the mysterious man. I had my suspiscions, but Arthur looked as miserable as usual, if not more.
Matt politely "hmm"ed at the appropriate moments, but it was pretty obvious he wasn't really listening.
I told him about my new rotation with PE. About how we were mostly learning about stretches and how the body was supposed to move. He held his fork up to his mouth, but hadn't really processed he was supposed to eat.
"Matt, you're going to drip syrup on your notes."
That got his attention. I saw his eyes dart to his fork and find that my warning was true. He chomped down on his food.
"Thank you," he muffled out. He let his fork rest on his half eaten plate and went back to focus on his studies.
"It'll be nice to have this rotation right before spring break so I can get more in shape." I wanted to see if that little juicy bit caught his attention. He seemed unfazed. "You know, for spring break."
Matt didn't say anything. It wasn't even a flustered silence. He craned his neck again. I felt really sorry for him. It looked absolutely miserable.
I slipped under the table. It was more cramped than I expected, but it's not like I had slipped under a booth table since I was like seven. Matt flinched and nearly kicked me in the stomach when I touched his thigh.
I could see Matt look up from his notes and panic when he didn't see me across from him. He looked down under the table at me. "Jules, what are you doing?"
"I just thought I'd do something nice for you. Help you relax." It was really cramped down here.
Matt's face went beet red. "Um..."
"Scoot over already," I exasperated. I managed to squeeze over to the inner booth. I struggled to pull myself up and out over to Matt's side.
"If you wanted to sit over here, why didn't you just get up?" Matt said as he moved his backpack to the ground.
"I thought it would be easier. I was wrong. Turn your back to me."
"Okay..." Matt said hesitantly.
I placed my hands on his shoulders. Definitely tight. I pressed into him gently but firmly. I kneaded deep into his muscles.
"Oh," Matt said once in surprise. "Oh," he breathed in relief. He leaned into me.
I smirked in confidence. "Feel good?"
"Yeah. Ooh right there. Don't stop," was all he could say.
I pressed my thumb further down his back and deeper into his muscle.
"Mmm," he hummed in pleasure.
I was enjoying this way more than I thought I would. I kicked my legs up and nestled Matt between my knees. I started from the top and worked my way down his back. The further I went, the further he became putty in my hands. The plus side on my end was that I got to cop a good feel of all his back muscles. I had seen them for myself. He was hiding pure gold under all his layers.
"Where did you learn...ah," he sighed.
"My brother plays football. I'd give him massages after he came back from practice if he'd cover for me when I snuck out."
"That mean I owe you favors then?" Matt asked. He leaned against me, his head resting on my chest. He looked up at me with adoring, big blue eyes.
"No. Just paying you back for being so nice to me," I said. I brought by hands back up an slid them down to his chest.
"I'm only nice to you because I like you so much," he said with a grin.
I smiled and pursed my lips. I brought my face to his and cornily kissed the side of his face close to his glasses. Matt smiled wider. I kissed his face again and again until he started to laugh. He twisted around and kissed me himself. He was very much still leaning into me and still between my legs. I carassed his face, drawing him nearer with just the slightest of touch.
"You should be nice to me more often," he murmured.
I was flushing. I knew I had to be. Every part of me felt hot, especially my face.
Janet cleared her throat. She didn't say a word as she refilled Matt's coffee, but her smug face said it all.
Matt pushed himself upright into a seated position. "You can sit over here if you want, but I really do have to study."
I took a moment to collect myself. I put my legs back under the table. "Well, I want to."
"Good." Matt hooked his arm around my waist and pulled me to him. I leaned into his body and rested my hand on his thigh.
Matt's notes were absolutely covered in his tiny, neat handwriting. I had absolutely no idea what they said.
"I don't how you can just read this stuff all day," I commented.
"Shhh," he shushed me. "I'm trying to concentrate."
I pouted. Matt was here but not entirely back.
His fingers drummed against my side. It was nearly exactly the same when he drummed his fingers on the table when he was way into his notes. It made my skin delightfully tingle. Well, I guess even half of him was still pretty awesome. I snuggled into the soft fabric of his flannel shirt and prepared to spend a long night quietly by his side.
