Sorry its a day late! Enjoy the new chapter! The song I chose for this one is "Let the Flames Begin" by Paramore! Omg how about del Rio getting released? Crazy right? I'm going to miss him dearly.
January 27, 2013
They spent New Years in St. Louis before heading to the next city. She was glad to see her friends and get back to work. They were getting down to the niddy gritty. It was January and Wrestlemania would be here before you knew it, but before that, there was The Royal Rumble, which basically set the road to Mania. As the major event approached, Yelena's nerves grew restless. She walked the halls of the sold out arena in Phoenix Arizona with her head down, her hat pulled low over her eyes. It was the talk of the locker room for weeks, but she wasn't nearly as excited as everyone else. If anything, she was on edge, her walls firmly in place.
Yelena would not be caught off guard, oh no. She was prepared this time. She was ready.
She was sitting with AJ when the thirty man Battle Royal began. Dolph had the number one slot and she inwardly cringed when "Walls of Jericho" blasted through the arena and Y2J made his return. Chris Jericho was back. She knew this day was a long time coming and could not be avoided, but that didn't dilute the hatred burning in her.
Dolph and Chris locked up when the bell rang. One after another, the Superstars came out until the ring was full. She laughed when John entered the ring at number nineteen and everyone ganged up on him. Poor John. She was on the edge of her seat when it looked like he was about to toss Chris over the top rope, but Chris stayed in it. More Superstars were pouring into the ring and AJ rolled her eyes at the way she squealed when Randy entered at number twenty six. Superstars went flying over the top rope until there was only six left: Cena, Ryback, Dolph, Sheamus, Chris Jericho, and Randy.
Jericho had a nice run, hitting Ziggler with a Codebreaker and John with a well executed Lionsault, but his efforts were futile and he went over the top rope via a vicious Brogue Kick from Sheamus and was eliminated.
She knew that Randy was the next to go, but he put up a good fight on his way out, RKOing both Ziggler, Cena, and Sheamus. He nailed a DDT off the ropes on Ryback and was going for another RKO when Ryback reversed it, clotheslining him over the top rope for the elimination. She told AJ she was going to meet him at the curtain. By the time she got there, John's music was blaring through the arena, declaring him the winner of the 2013 Royal Rumble. She found Randy, but stopped cold in her tracks when she noticed he was chatting with Chris, of all people.
Fuck her life.
She forced her feet to move forward and not backtrack. She couldn't avoid Chris forever, but she was hoping she could just for tonight.
"Hey." she said, slipping an arm around Randy "Nice job out there."
"Thanks babe." he said, kissing her cheek "You've met Chris right?"
She tried not to notice Chris smirking sleazily at her "Yelena. Nice to see you again."
"Welcome back." she said, hoping she didn't sound as bitter as she felt, her mouth feeling like cotton. She didn't like the way he was undressing her with his eyes, making her skin crawl. That was enough playing nice for now. This was getting weird "I'm going to go find John. I'll meet you on the bus?"
"Yeah." Randy said
She avoided Chris's eye as she stood on her tip toes to peck his cheek
"See you around Yelena." Chris said
She tensed at the tone of his voice. To anyone else, it was a goodbye, but to her, he was saying "I'll be seeing you soon". A icy chill ran through her. She bowed her head, leaving them alone, her heart raging.
He couldn't be bitter after all this time, right? Maybe Phil was wrong. Maybe Chris would keep his mouth shut. If she's stayed out of his way, maybe he would do the same.
The Monday Night RAW that followed was jam packed with events, but she found enough time to hop up on the crate next to Punk. He was sitting cross legged, his hood up, his headphones over his ears. It was only when she touched his shoulder that he noticed her presence
"Hey." he said glumly
It truly pained her to see him so down after loosing the WWE Championship last night to The Rock. It was like he had lost his baby, his heart, the only thing that kept him going.
"You okay?" she asked
"It sucks, but I'll get over it." he said with a tired smile
She touched his heavily tattooed hand, giving it a squeeze "Your time will come again, Phil. It sucks that you had to drop the title to someone who isn't even here full time, but you've been the best Champion we've had in years. They can't overlook that." she said genuinely "Now, stop this wallowing shit. Your CM freaking Punk. You're the Best in the World!"
She was satisfied to see the corner of his mouth turn up
"Thanks kid." he said
"Anytime. Now pull it together. You have a Pipebomb to drop" she said encouragingly
She was in the middle of getting her new camera set up for the night at her station when the hairs on the back of her neck stood up, sensing a lurking presence behind her.
"So we meet again."
She fought the urge to roll her eyes "Can I help you Chris?" she asked, all business
"No need to be so professional with me sweetheart, we're pass that stage." he said, flashing his killer smile "They sent me to you to get my picture taken."
She pulled out her phone and he posed "Done." she said, posting it and turning back to her camera, hoping he would take the hint and leave.
He didn't of course. His footsteps approached her until he was just close enough to make her panic
"That's pretty." he said, reaching out to touch the sunflower pendant against her chest
She flinched when his fingers made contact with her skin, burning her like acid
"A Christmas present?" he asked
"From Randy." she stated, backing away from him so his hand fell away
He raised an eyebrow "Does he know about us?"
She folded her arms across her chest "There was never an 'Us' Christopher. Or have you forgotten?"
"You wished there was an 'Us' at a point in time Yelena."
She glanced around to make sure no one was listening before she spoke "You're right. I did want to be with you. But that was before I realized that you're an unworthy piece of shit. Was my right hook too subtle for you?"
He chuckled darkly "You haven't told him, have you?"
She pointedly ignored the question, turning her back to him as she put her laptop into it's bag and straightening the stack of photo proofs
"What? Afraid that he'll find out that you're a ring rat?" he said nastily
She ignored that jab "Sticks and stones." she chanted to herself
"I see you've been spending a lot of time with the new guys." he went on, just to piss the photographer off even further
"Let's not forget it was you who approached me." she seethed, wanting to wring his neck. Was he seriously going to do this right now? "Who I hang around is none of your damn businesses."
"And let's not forget it was you who invited me to your room." he said, sizing her up, his blue eyes full of mischief "Did I strike a nerve sweetheart? The big one has a fiance, I know you wouldn't sink that low, so which one are you fucking? Rollins or Ambrose?"
She whirled around "I wish I'd never fuckingmet you." she said in all seriousness, her green eyes blazing with annoyance. She was getting the same adrenaline rush she had gotten when she pounced on her sister and look what it got her: a broken nose. If he kept poking the bear, she would inflict bodily harm on him, job be damned "We're done here. I don't have time for your games."
Chris grinned, glad to see that he could still get under her skin "You should know me better than to believe for a second that it's over because you say it is." he leaned closer, his lips grazing her ear "This is just the beginning."
She would have slapped the shit out of him if there weren't so many witnesses around to see. Between this job and her family, she was becoming an increasingly violent person. Luckily for him, he chose then to walk away, leaving her fuming with anger.
It was only when he turned the corner out of sight that she dropped into her chair, her head in her hands. She could feel a migraine coming on. Chris wasn't going to let her skip merrily into the sunset with Randy, she knew that, but would he really go as far as ruining her relationship to spite her? She wouldn't put it past him. She wouldn't put anything over Chris Jericho.
And so it begin! I hope you enjoyed! Keep the reviews coming! The more the merrier and the faster the next update! How bad do you want it people?!
