Chapter 44: Potter-Weasley Wedding
The date had been set and too soon, Harry and Charlie woke up to the day of their wedding. Harry Stretched and turned to see his future husband staring at him.
"By the time we get back in bed tonight, we will be husbands." Charlie said, stroking Harry's chest slightly.
"Yeah. It feels like it was yesterday that we defeated the Death Eaters." Harry answered in return.
In truth, it had been months since the Hydra and Orochi had been stopped. It had been hectic, planning a location, who was invited, theme, and finally who was being what. It was decided that they both were to have groomsmen. On Charlie's side was his brothers, Bill being his best man. On Harry's side, Dean, Seamus, Terry, Blaize and Draco, Dean being his best man. The venue was decided to be Hogwarts, the main place that felt safe to Harry. It was also the place Harry was going to start working at in the Fall, deciding that if he was going to start raising this child with Charlie, he needed a job where risk was minimal and his hours were far more reasonable. The team was sad to see him go, but understood.
As for baby, baby finally received a name. Alastor Cedric Potter, Al or Ally for short. Since his biological parent's last name meant warrior and his mother had been an auror, Harry thought that baby Potter should take on the name of one of the most gifted aurors he had ever met and for being brave, Harry used Cedric's name, hoping to keep Cedric's name alive.
"We already have a baby. Well, no biological ones, but that is ok. We can adopt many more."
Charlie blushed and smiled at Harry.
"Well, there are a few different options for us to have biological children. One requires a potion and..."
It was at this moment that the door banged open and in strode Bill Weasley.
"Right, both of you get dressed. You aren't going to see each other until the wedding starts." Bill said, his eyes closed and hands in front of face.
Charlie threw a pillow at him.
"You could have knocked first." Charlie said a he got up and went to the bathroom."
After he left, Harry got up and quickly dressed.
"Right, Harry you are going to Shell Cottage where your groomsmen are waiting. Charlie is going to the Burrow and we are meeting at Hogwarts at 3. Al is going to be with Andromeda and Teddy, right?" Bill said, running over everything.
Harry nodded and used the floo downstairs to get to Shell Cottage. Upon his arrival, he was greeted with a bottle of wine from Draco and his groomsmen and himself spent the next hour reminiscing about their lives to far.
"Right, time to get dressed. We need to be there in an hour." Harry said, a slight quiver in his voice.
"Look at this, Harry Potter, Savior of the Wizarding world twice is afraid of his own wedding." Draco drawled while smirking. "Dragons? No big deal. Giant serpents? Couldn't be better. A wedding? now that is truly scary."
Harry shot Draco a glare.
"Yeah well I never thought about it before. It was always in the future... Guess my future starts today." Harry said as he looked over his new robes.
Harry's robes were a deep emerald green, much like his old dress robes, but were made of a finer quality. A gold dragon went down each sleeve and each dragon had blue eyes. Harry had paid a shiney knut for this but he loved it. All of his groomsmen were wearing robes of deep blue.
"Are you sure it looks ok?" Harry asked for the millionth time after putting on his robes, shifting nervously.
"You look fine mate." Dean said, slapping him on the back. "Don't worry. Charlie will think you look amazing and the ceremony will be amazing. Come on before you are late to your own wedding, Mr. Potter-Weasley."
And with that, they all used the floo network to get to Hogwarts right on caught sight of a Charlie's brothers, all wearing robes of deep waved at him, but were busy setting everything up. The main ceremony would be in the Great Hall. They needed the space. Begrudgingly, Harry let the Daily Prophet cover his wedding. This way, the public could see that Harry Potter was not hiding and not dead, as Rita Skeeter kept printing.
They had deided that their name should be hyphenated but Harry;s last name should go first since he was the last of his line. Charlie had enough brothers to pass on the name, something that earned Harry a nudge in the ribs.
Harry was shoved off into a spare classroom to wait. Harry spent his time pacing, a million different scenarios running through his head. What if Charlie did not want to be with him? What if Charlie ran away? What if..."
"It seems to me, that you are thinking too much." a voice came from the doorway. Arthur Weasley stepped into the room and hugged Harry. "The ceremony is starting. Molly is walking with Charlie and I will be walking with you to the halfway point."
Harry hugged Arthur a little harder and fought back tears.
"Thanks." Harry said softly and together they left the room.
The large double doors leading into the Great Hall were closed when they arrived and they were in a cue. Harry was last with Mr. Weasley and right in front of them, Charlie stood with his mother, looking as gorgeous as ever in his robes of sapphire blue with gold dragons with green eyes. In front of them was a line of their groomsmen.
Charlie half turned and winked at him. Harry went crimson.
"It's starting," a voice said and soon, the groomsmen were walking through the open door. Before Harry could get a look, the door shut.
"Don't worry. It is gorgeous." Mr Weasley said in a whisper, causing Harry to stop fidgeting.
Soon enough, the doors were opened again and Harry had to compose himself before taking a step. The Great Hall was covered in amazing decorations. Huge banners were strung everywhere in magnificent colors. Baubles of every color were hanging in midair in lieu of candles. A large moving mural of a giant lion was hanging across where the teacher's table normally stood and instead of the teacher's table, there was the Minister of Magic Shacklebolt dressed in shocking purple robes. On either side of him were the groomsmen, all of whom were smiling. Harry and Mr Weasley followed Charlie and Mrs Weasley as they walked down the aisle, a few foot steps between them. They were walking on a long Gryffindor themed rug and on either side were long lines of chairs stretching from the rug to the wall. Harry looked around and saw so many familiar faces. There was Hagrid in the background, sobbing silently to himself, blowing on his standing tablecloth sized handkerchief. Neville, his old Quidditch team, Hermione, Fleur, Ginny, and the entire DA was there sharing the two front rows, which were a few feet from the front of the Minister. As they reached the first row, Molly and Arthur handed Harry and Charlie to each other and quickly sat down. Harry and Charlie walked the rest of the way to the Minister themselves, arm in arm. They stepped in front of the Minister and the ceremony began as it often times does with "We are gathered here today"
The ceremony was very beautiful and Harry and Charlie wrote their own vows to each other. When called for the rings, that was when Andromeda Tonks lead a shy Teddy Lupin and Victoire Weasley down the aisle, each one holding a ring. Andromeda was also carrying tiny Al Potter. Victorie gave her ring to Charlie and Teddy gave his ring to Harry. They exchanged rings and after a moment, the Minister told the couple that they were now married and they could kiss.
And kiss they did, while the crowd behind them clapped, cried, and stood up.
It ws at this time that Harry Potter-Weasley knew that regardless of what came, he could deal with it because so long as he had his family behind him, he could take on the world.
