The girls are back at their Friday night dinners—well, Lorelai and Lauren were. Rory was meeting them there having things to finish at Chilton. And Emily and Lorelai were in a discussion about a family member while Richard and Lauren were reading the paper.

"Mom, I'm telling you, it was Aunt Marine." Lorelai says to Emily.

"Aunt Marine would never hike up her skirt in public." Emily tells her.

"She would after half a gallon of eggnog."

"Richard, who was the one who got drunk at our Christmas party and hiked up her skirt in front of the photographer?" Emily asks her husband who had been ignoring them.

"I'm sorry. Did you say something?" Richard asks just as the front door closes.

"I don't know about you, Mom, but I've never felt so fascinating in my entire life." Lorelai says sarcastically as she looks at Lauren who had also been ignoring them.

Rory walks into the living room still dressed in her school uniform. "I'm so sorry I'm late. Hi, Grandma, Grandpa."

Richard smiles happily and closes his paper. "Hello, Rory."

"Oh, now he closes the paper." Lorelai says. Lauren, however, still had hers open so Lorelai grabs it out of her hands and receives a mean glare in the process.

"Hey, Mom, I stopped by the bookstore on the way here." Rory tells Lorelai.

"You got them?" Lorelai asks excitingly.

Rory grabs the books out of her bag and shows Lorelai and Lauren, who was now interested. "I got them."

"Got what?" Emily asks.

Rory hands the books to Emily. "The girls and I are starting to plan our Europe trip." Lorelai explains to her parents.

"The day after graduation, we are gone." Rory tells them.

"That sounds very exciting." Richard says.

"What are these?" Emily exclaims as she looks through the books.

"Those are guide books." Lorelai tells her.

"'Europe Through the Back Door, The Rough Guide to Europe.'" Emily reads the titles. "What kind of guide books are these?"

"The cheap kind." Lauren tells them.

"They have all the information about backpacking and staying in hostels." Rory explains.

Emily couldn't hide the criticism in her voice. "Backpacking and staying in hostels?"

"Who's doing that?" Richard asks while he's looking at one of the books.

"We are." Lorelai says proudly.

Richard and Emily look at each other and begin laughing hysterically at the thought while the girls look at each other in confusion. "No, you're not." Emily laughs.

"What a ridiculous thought." Richard continues laughing himself.

"We are." Rory tells them. "We're going to backpack around Europe."

"Yes, I know it's fun to tease your grandmother, dear. They're going to backpack across Europe, Richard." Emily smiles.

"I heard, sounds delightful." He says sarcastically. "Perhaps we should join them."

"That sounds wonderful. Tomorrow I'll go out and buy some cutoffs."

"Guys, we're not kidding." Lorelai interrupts them.

Emily and Richard's face drop with concern. "You're telling me you're seriously going to traipse around Europe with your possessions on your back, sleep in a room with 30 other people?" Emily asks.

"Yes." Lorelai smiles.

"No." Richard frowns.

"Grandpa." Rory says.

"It's not safe. I forbid it. Call our travel agent."

"But we want to be spontaneous. Jump a train to Paris, head off to Spain."

"Oh, no, it's raining in Spain. But since the rain in Spain stays in the plain—"Lorelai says dramatically.

"Looks like Italy for us." Lauren finishes.

"Mamma Mia!"

"You can still travel around aimlessly and stay in a decent hotel." Richard assures them.

"We want to do it cheap."

"We'll pay." Emily says quickly.

"No."

"It's going to be fun. Really." Rory says.

"Kids do this all the time."

"You're not a kid, you're a grown woman." Emily reminds Lorelai. "What'll people think when they see a woman bunking down with a bunch of 20-year-olds?"

"Well, if the 20-year-olds are cute they'll think, 'Lucky.'" Lorelai jokes.

"And you can't drag a 13-year-old with you."

Lauren frowns. "I'll be fourteen."

"Lauren's going to be going to high school. This is for her, too." Lorelai explains.

"Don't be upset." Rory tells them, seeing the long faces her grandparents were holding. "It's really going to be great."

"'What's so traumatic about a night without a bed, anyway?'" Emily reads. "'My survey shows those who have been a refugee for a night have their perspectives broadened and actually enjoy the experience.' Richard this book is encouraging them to sleep in a park like a squirrel."

"It's okay, Mom." Lorelai stresses.

"My first trip to Europe I went to Paris and stayed at the Ritz."

"Well, I'll tell you what, if it'll make you happy, we'll go to Paris and eat out their dumpster." Richard and Emily scowl at the thought.

Lorelai is on the phone at the inn. They were planning a party at the inn for a guests who was going to be staying there within a few days. And it seemed like every few hours, though, the guest was calling to change everything.

"Hey, it's your party, we just want you to be happy." Lorelai tells him. "Okay. No problem. Alright, I'll talk to you then." Lorelai hangs up and walks over to Michel. "Ridgemont called."

Michel rolls his eyes. "No."

Lorelai continues walking around the front desk. "He wants to change the theme for his retirement party again."

"No." Michel walks after her.

"We have to call the florist."

"This is the fourth theme he's picked. He had the fishing one, the Kentucky Derby with the chocolate horses, and the Tibet with Richard Gere pictures everywhere."

"I know!"

"And he promised that the golf would be the last one." Michel continues.

"Well, he felt golf was dull. He doesn't want to be known as dull." Lorelai explains.

"Would he like to be remembered as limping? Because I can be a help with that."

They walk into the dining area here everyone's decorating. "Hey, guys—" They all sigh heavily and start taking everything down. "I'm really sorry." She says as she walks away again.

"Here's an idea." Michel says, continuing to follow Lorelai back to the front. "It's a retirement party, yes?" Lorelai nods. "So, what happens after you retire? You die."

Lorelai walks by Lane who is sitting on the couch, making decorations. "He changed his mind." She tells her.

"Again?" Lane sighs.

Lorelai and Michel continue walking. "So, why don't we dig a big hole, throw him in, hand everybody a shovel. They take turns covering him up." Michel continues. "We go inside, have dinner. The wife gets used to eating alone."

"We are not going to bury him alive." Lorelai argues.

"Fine, then. What is the new theme?"

"He's calling me back at four."

Rory runs in carrying a flag. "I got the flags and—" She stops seeing their frustrated faces and Lane leaving. "He changed his mind again."

"He's worse than my mother at the Glory of Easter T-shirt stand." Lane complains before she walks out.

Rory walks up to Lorelai. "You kept the receipts, I hope." Lorelai says.

"Yep."

"Goodness, this party's going to be the death of me."

"Or someone." Michel says, walking by.

"Go call the florist!"

"You're stressed." Rory frowns.

"You're observant."

Lorelai grabs the flag from her daughter and sets it aside before they sit down. "Well, I was going to save this for later. But you look like you need it now."

Lorelai sees Rory pull out an envelope. "What's that?"

"Lauren and I have been cordially invited to Sherry Tinsdale's C-section."

Lorelai gasps. "No way!"

Rory opens the invitation and shows Lorelai. "'Friday, February 7, 6:00 p.m. Join the girls for a toast, a hug, a wave to the mommy as they wheel her off. Dinner at Sushi Sushi then back to the hospital for a formal viewing of brand-new baby, Georgia.'" Rory reads. "'R.S.V.P. at your earliest convenience. PS: Gifts are not necessary, but always appreciated.'"

Lorelai laughs. "I don't even know where to start."

"I knew you'd like it."

"You have to R.S.V.P to a C-section."

"And bring a gift."

"I wonder if Laura Mercier makes Demerol?"

Rory laughs. "You want to keep it?"

Lorelai happily takes the invitation. "Yes."

"But don't lost it, I need the phone number."

"So, are you going?" Lorelai smiles.

"I don't know. I mean, I know it's weird, but I kind of want to see Georgia. She's sort of our sister."

"She's more than that."

"I just think it'd be cool to meet her the night she's born. I mean, I was there when Lauren was born, so I'd feel guilty if I didn't do the same with her." Rory explains.

"You should go."

"I should, shouldn't I? But do you think we can convince Lauren to go?"

Lorelai nods and smiles. "Not a chance."

"Mom."

"That shouldn't even be question. But you should take pictures, wear hidden microphones cause I want to hear everything."

"I'll see what I can do."

"Oh, shoot!" Lorelai jumps up and runs into the kitchen where Sookie and Lauren are preparing a very large golf ball cake. "Hey-"

Sookie and Lauren look up at Lorelai and realize that the party theme was cancelled again. Sookie and Lauren glance at each other before angrily tossing the cake into the trash.

The girls are back at the house and are unpacking the new decorations for the man's retirement party from out of the car. He called back at four and decided on a beanie baby retirement party.

"I just want to go on the record that a grown man shouldn't throw himself a Beanie Baby retirement party." Lauren tells her mom and sister as they each grab a box of beanie babies out of the back of the jeep and begin walking towards the house.

"Just hold your breath this one takes." Lorelai stresses.

"How is Sookie supposed to plan a Beanie Baby menu?" Rory questions.

"Lots of beans."

"This is ridiculous." Lauren shakes her head.

"You both need to learn there will be times in your lives where you have to do ridiculous things for money." Lorelai explains. "If you're Adrian Zmed, that includes everything in your career." They walk up on the porch and are greeted by a large box by their front door. "Oh, Rory, did you order from Amazon again?' Lorelai sighs as she gives Lauren her box so that she can look at the new one. "We're getting your books their own house."

"I didn't, I swear." Rory tells her.

Lorelai reads the label on the box. "It's from my mother."

"What is it?" Lauren asks.

Lorelai picks the box up. "It's heavy. Must be her hopes and dreams for me."

"I thought she discarded those years ago." Rory plays along.

They walk into the house and Lorelai makes her way into the living room. "Just drop the Beanies by the door." Rory and Lauren gladly and literally drop the box of Beanies by the door before following their mom. "'Girls, here are some travel books I stumbled across in your father's study.'" Lorelai reads the note from the box as they all three sit down on the couch. "'I thought they could help in the planning of your European adventure.' She's insane."

"We have travel books." Lauren states as she and Rory open the box.

"No, sweetie, these aren't our kind of books. These are Paris and Nicky Hilton's kind of books."

"'Selected Hotels of Europe, Hotels, Restaurants and Inns of Great Britain and Ireland, 1986.'" Rory reads the titles of the books. "'Myra Waldo's Travel and Motoring Guide to Europe, '78.'"

"Wow. These will be an enormous help in planning our trip." Lorelai says, sarcastically. "Hey, you wanna go see the Berlin Wall?"

"Sounds great."

"I remember these books. I'm the only one in my house who read them."

"This hotel is $500 a night." Lauren tells them as she looks through one of the books.

"$500 a night 20 years ago."

"What could a hotel have that would make it $500 a night?"

"An English menu?" Lorelai assumes.

-Flashback / Christopher and Lorelai – Age 15 -

"Christopher, stop it." Lorelai laughs. "I'm trying to open the door." They both stumble through the doorway. "Graceful and lovely, they enter."

"Is she home?" Christopher asks about Emily.

"I don't know. Mom, are you home?"

"Mom, are you home?" Christopher mimic's.

"Shh! She'll hear you."

"So? She likes me."

"Oh, that's right." Lorelai says as they walk further into the house. "Mom, it's me, Lorelai. I'm home." Lorelai takes off her sweater. "I'm home and I'm taking my sweater off, and dropping it on the floor." She yells out as she drops her sweater on the living room floor. "Dropping it and walking away from it. I'm walking away from it and leaving it on the floor. And in two years I'm gonna register Democrat." Still she receives no answer. "Looks like no Emily."

"Where's Sophia?" Christopher asks about the maid.

"Fired."

"Already?"

"She touched the Baccarat unicorn."

"Is she insane?" Christopher asks dramatically.

"Apparently so."

"Okay. So, to recap, there's no Emily, and there's no Sophia."

"And there's no supervision whatsoever. What will we do?" Lorelai asks as she follows Christopher to the drink bar.

"Let's celebrate."

"Celebrate what?"

"No more midterms."

"Hear, hear."

Christopher begins preparing their drinks. "I say that we drink to it. Scotch, vodka, or gin?"

"Hear, hear." Lorelai smiles as she walks to the couch.

"Okay."

"And put a cherry in it." Lorelai grabs a random book sitting near the couch. "Looks like the Gilmore's are planning a trip again."

"Where to this time?"

"Someplace fabulous, at a fancy hotel with other rich Americans so they won't have to talk to anyone who lives there."

Christopher walks over with their drinks and reads the title of the book Lorelai is holding. "'Myra Waldo's Travel and Motoring Guide to Europe.' Hello, Myra."

"I hope they go over Christmas." Lorelai says. "That would be as holly-jolly as it gets." She grimaces as the taste of her drink. "Smooth."

Christopher smiles, widely. "Hey. Guess what I've decided? I'm not going to go to college."

"Are you serious?"

"I'm taking a year and I'm going to Europe. I'm going to backpack, sleep on a bench, see the world."

"And you've told Strobe and Francine about your plans, I'm sure." Lorelai says knowing his parents would never agree to it.

"Doesn't matter."

"Mhm."

"I'm out the second I get that diploma."

"Sounds good."

"You're coming with me." He tells her.

"Oh, I am?"

"Yeah."

"I'm sleeping on a bench? Okay, how's that picture look? To me it looks like a big no."

"Fine. You'll get a room. I'll sleep on the bench outside."

"Much better arrangement."

"So you'll go."

"Christopher, we're supposed to go to college." Lorelai reminds him. "You're supposed to join your dad's firm, where you'll get an office and a stick shoved up your butt." She jokes.

"Change of plans."

"You can't just change the plans. Plans came over on the Mayflower."

Christopher sighs. "Come on, Lorelai. Let's get out of here. Let's get away from this place. Let's take Myra and just bolt. Leave a note on the table. 'Dear Richard and Emily, I don't belong here. I'm going somewhere else. I'll call you when I get there. Love, Lorelai.' How is that?"

Lorelai smiles, thinking about it. "Well, the word 'whoopee' comes to mind."

"So then, it's plan."

"It's a plan." She smiles back at him and they begin to kiss.

End Flashback – Present Day-

"Hey, I want to sleep amongst 13the century tapestries and chocolates made by locals." Rory argues.

"Okay, then it's settled." Lorelai shakes her head, playfully. "We aren't staying anyplace that wasn't built for Napoleon III's doctor or doesn't have a Chagall."

"Hear, hear." Lauren smiles.

"Now we have to figure out how we're going to pay for it." Lorelai tells them. "How good is your organ grinding?" She asks Lauren.

Rory is sitting at on the computer at the Franklin listening to Madeline and Louise talk about Paris.

"I called and I asked her to talk me through the Korean War. She said she was busy." Madeline explains to Louise.

"Oh she's definitely got a boyfriend." Louise says.

"I know."

"Well, I for one think it's about time."

"I agree."

"It wasn't healthy."

"It didn't help that skin thing she had."

"How come she didn't tell us?" Louise asks.

"I think she just wanted to make sure it was going to take." Madeline guesses.

They walk over to Rory. "So, tell us, what's this Jamie like?" Louise asks.

"You know, I really don't feel like talking about Paris right now. Or ever." Rory tells them.

"You know him, we don't." Madeline tells her.

"Is he sexy?" Louise smiles.

"Have a good car?"

"How's the trust fund?"

"How's the profile?"

"How're his friends?"

"Is there a spin-off potential?" They watch Paris walk in and couldn't risk her seeing them talking to Rory. "Whoops."

"Bye." Madeline says as they follow Paris.

"Okay, everyone!" Paris calls out. "Gather around. I have in my hand the 2002 Franklin yearbook photos. I got copies for everyone. So let's leave the Barneys clearance sale reenactment for another day." She says as she hands them all their copies. "Please take note that the idea of posing under the new school banner was a major success."

"Um, Paris." Rory says.

"Yes?"

"I'm sneezing." Rory says pointing to the picture.

"What?"

"In the picture, I'm sneezing, and my head is turned."

"Oh, yeah, but every picture had something wrong." Paris tells her. "I had to pick one that was best for the majority."

"We took 90 pictures."

"What's your point?"

"My point is there wasn't one other picture that was good for the group and didn't make me look like I'm in Cirque Du Soleil?" Rory questions.

"Sorry, life can play some cruel tricks."

"Life had a little help from the Geller camp this time." Rory glares. Her phone starts to ring. "We are not done." She tells Paris as she walks away to answer her phone. "Hello?"

"Rory, hi. Listen, I just got the call and—Hold on a sec. I'll call him back!" The woman yells. "I'm back. Sorry, where was I?"

Rory looks confused. "Who is this?"

"Maureen Rollins. Sherry's friend."

"Oh!" Rory remembers her from the baby shower. "Maureen. I'm sorry—"

"Don't worry about it." Maureen interrupts. "Listen, we were going to meet next week at the C-section, but Sherry just went into labor."

"What?"

"She screwed up. She's in labor, and I have to call all the girls and beg them to get down to the hospital ASAP."

"Oh."

"It's a big screw up."

"I guess."

"Can you come? You're a child, right?"

"What?"

"School? You have school?"

"Yes, I have school, but— "

"Is there any way you could reschedule school just for today?" Maureen begs. "She completely screwed up but she's still our Sherry."

"Well, I'm done with school now, I could grab a train and— "

"That would be the best, the absolute best. You are a great kid. She's at Boston Memorial. I will meet you there. Listen, I have Graydon Carter on the other line."

"Who?"

"Graydon Carter, I have to go!"

"Okay, bye." Rory hangs up. She couldn't believe she had to go to the hospital, alone no less. But she quickly calls her mom as she makes her way out of the school. She was sure Lauren was probably jumping up and down seeing this as an excuse to not go.

-Flashback – Lorelai, Age 15 -

"Please make sure the light is very soft. I want a luminous quality." Emily tells the photographer. She was setting a photoshoot up for Lorelai's coming out party.

"I'm gonna have to go see the lady before I can set the final lighting." The photographer tells her.

"Yes, of course." Lorelai walks over to the maid. "Arletta, did you call Lorelai?"

"Yes, ma'am, 20 minutes ago." Arletta says.

"And what did she say?"

"She said she was still getting dressed. Do you want me to go up again?"

Emily sighs in frustration. "No, I'll do it. You'd think it was my coming-out portrait, not hers, for the concern she has about all of this. I'll be right back." She says to the photographer before making her way upstairs.

Lorelai is in her room, standing in front of her mirror, trying to zip up her dress. But she was struggling majorly. Emily knocks on her bedroom door. "Yeah?" She calls out.

"Lorelai, the photographer needs you downstairs." Emily says through the closed door.

"I'll be there in a sec."

"He needs you now, not in a sec."

"Okay."

"I don't hear you walking to the door."

"Mom, please!"

"I'm coming in."

"No!"

Emily walks in. "I don't have time for your attitude, young lady. This man is being paid by the hour." Emily looks down at her daughter and sees that the dress isn't zipped. "Why aren't you dressed?"

"I think the zipper is too new or stiff." Lorelai says as she tries to zip it again.

"Turn around, I'll do it." Lorelai turns around and lets Emily attempt to zip it up, but she was struggling with it, too. "Oh, my gosh."

"What?"

"It's not the zipper, it's the dress." Emily exclaims. "It's too small."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course. It's too small. How can it be too small? We had a fitting three months ago. Have you gained weight? Hold your breath."

"I am." Lorelai grimaces as Emily tries to pull the dress together, squeezing tightly.

"Hold your breath!"

"I am!"

"The only thing I can think of is the dressmaker must have written the measurements down wrong." Emily assumes. "Well, what're we supposed to do now? I can't take a picture of you like that."

"Sorry." Lorelai frowns.

Emily sighs. "I'll just have to have him come back next week. And I'm going to call that woman at the dress show and give her a piece of my mind. Is everyone in the world completely incompetent!? Put on your sweats and go running. You're gonna fit into the next dress no matter what." Emily assures her as she walks out of the bedroom.

Lorelai turns back to the mirror and tries to zip the dress up again, but then she stops realizing something. Three months. Three months ago was her last fitting. Three months ago was her last period. It wasn't the dresses fault. It was hers.

-End Flashback-

-Flashback—Lorelai, Age 20-

Lorelai is in her upstairs bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror. She is pale since she had just vomited that morning. Lorelai actually had been vomiting for the last three weeks now. Christopher visited a month ago and of course, like always, things got heated up. It's hard when your four-year-old goes to sleep early and leaves her parents alone causing the past to come up and old feelings to arise.

Lorelai didn't think about all those times she was vomiting almost everyday because she figured she just had a bug, but then when her period didn't show up, that's when Lorelai had to re-think everything.

So, that morning after she dropped Rory off at school, she grabbed a pregnancy test on her way to work and decided that should would take when she got back home.

Lorelai wasn't able to hold anything down that day. So, when she made the mistake of eating a snack with Rory after she picked her up from school, moments later she had to run upstairs and vomit. And that's when she decided that it was time to take the test.

So now, Lorelai is standing in front of her bathroom mirror, pale face and sweat from vomiting and being terrified to what she was about find out. Lorelai takes a few breaths before she picks up the test and slides down the wall. She closes her eyes and lets out a heavy sigh, working herself up to look at the test.

Lorelai opens her eyes and looks at the test. She gasps and suddenly jumps up to vomit once again into the toilet.

-End Flashback – Present-

Lorelai walks into Luke's diner in a hurry. "I have five minutes to drink as much coffee as I can before Lauren gets here and we have to drive to Hartford to spend time with my mother—" She looks around not seeing Luke. "—and who am I saying this to?"

"I was listening." Kirk tells her from the counter.

"Where's Luke?" Lorelai asks.

"I don't know."

"Well, is he here? Is he coming back? How fresh is that pot?"

"I don't know. I don't know. It was there when I came a minute ago. So I don't know."

Lorelai sees Luke walk out all dressed up. "Oh, thank God. I desperately need a massive cup of coffee to go—What happened to your face?"

Luke walks behind the counter as he is putting on his jacket. He isn't in his regular attire. He's dressed up, with a shaved face. "What do you mean?" Luke asks.

"It's visible."

"I shaved."

"Are you going to the bank?"

"No."

"Funeral?"

"No."

"Drag club?"

"Let's get your coffee, shall we?" Luke asks as he grabs her a large cup.

"Hey, isn't that the sweater—"Lorelai says remembering the outfits he had bought Luke a couple years ago when he was with Rachel.

"Yes."

She smiles, looking very impressed. "You look nice."

"Thank you."

"What's the occasion?"

"Oh, well— "

Nicole walks in. "Hi."

"Oh, hi."

"Oh, it's a girl." Lorelai says.

Luke walks over to Nicole. "Nicole, this is Lorelai." He introduces.

"Nice to meet you, Nicole Leahy." Nicole says, shaking her hand.

"Lorelai Gilmore." Lorelai says.

"You look nice." Nicole tells Luke.

"Yeah, you, too."

"So, are you ready or should I sit down?"

"No. Let's go, I'm ready."

Suddenly Nicole's cell phone rings. "Oh, I'm sorry. Just a sec." She says as she grabs her phone from her purse.

Luke walks back to the counter by Lorelai. "Hey, Luke." Lorelai says.

"She's a lawyer." Luke tells her.

"So what?" Nicole answers her call. Lorelai gasps and points to the no cell phone sign Luke has up on the wall. She points to Nicole, but Luke quickly grabs her arm and holds it down. Nicole continues talking while Lorelai exaggerates her pointing because Luke is allowing Nicole to be on her phone. But he continues pushing Lorelai's arms down and holds her down.

"Bye, Michael." Nicole hangs up just in time for Luke to quickly get up without Nicole seeing them. "The phone is going off now."

"It's okay." Luke tells her. "Make as many calls as you want."

"Nice meeting you." Nicole says to Lorelai.

"You, too." Lorelai smiles.

Lauren walks in passed Luke and Nicole and watches them with confusion. "Was that Luke and some girl?" She asks Lorelai.

Lorelai sighs and grabs her coffee. "Yes. She's a lawyer."

"Huh?"

"Let's go." Lorelai ushers Lauren out of the diner.

Rory walks off the elevator of the hospital and sees Maureen at the nurses' stations.

"Maureen?" She calls out.

"Yes?" Maureen asks, looking at Rory as she approaches.

"I'm Rory." Maureen looks confused. "I'm Christopher's daughter. You called me to come down— "

"Rory!" Maureen exclaims, remembering. "Yes! Thank God you're here. Sherry's going to be thrilled. She's a basket case. But who wouldn't be?" She looks around Rory. "Isn't there another one of you?"

Rory looks confused. "You mean my sister, Lauren?" Rory asks. "She wasn't with me. So, where's everyone else?"

"They're working. We'd all planned on next week but Sherry screwed up. Thank God you're here. She'll be thrilled. She's feeling abandoned." Maureen explains. "Now, she's right in there, but don't mention how fat she is. For some reason she's extremely sensitive about that today. Kiss. I'll call you later." Maureen begins grabbing her things.

"Wait. Where are you going?" Rory asks.

"I have to get back to work. I'm swamped."

"You're leaving me here?" Rory panics.

"I would love to stay. Impossible. What can I say, Sherry screwed up. You'll be fine. If you need anything, call."

"But I don't have your number."

"Sherry's got it." Maureen yells as she runs away.

Rory sighs and hesitantly walks into Sherry's hospital room. "Sherry, it's Rory."

"Rory?" Sherry says from her bed. "I'm so glad you're here."

"How are you?"

"This wasn't supposed to happen now."

"I know."

"Christopher's out of town. I think Maureen left a message, but it doesn't matter since he's not here." Sherry says beginning to panic. "Where's Maureen?"

"She had to go to work but she'll call later." Rory tells her.

"She's at work?"

"Yes."

"I'm lying in bed, God knows what's gonna happen."

"Well, you're going to have a baby." Rory smiles.

"And she goes back to work. I would love to go back to work, but I can't because I have to stay here."

"Well, yeah, because you're going to have a baby."

"She's not here. None of my friends are here. Christopher isn't here. Where's your sister? Lauren isn't here."

"Oh, well— "

"No one is here!" Sherry cries out. Rory watches with sadness. "No one but you. Thank God you're here. I don't think that I could do this by myself because this wasn't supposed to happen until next week. I wrote it down!" Rory rubs Sherry's arm, trying to calm her down. "I wrote it down!" She cries out loudly.

"Boy, do you look thin."

At the grandparents' house, Emily opens the door for her daughter and grand-daughter.

"Well, it's a rare threat to have an evening alone with my daughter and just one of my grand-daughters uncoerced." Emily says with a smile.

"Yes, it is, isn't it?" Lorelai says as they follow Emily into the living room.

"Sorry, Grandma." Lauren says.

"Nonsense. Gives us time to talk about your schooling and your life."

Lauren rolls her eyes. "Because all the other Fridays just weren't enough?"

Lorelai nudges Lauren, hushing her. "So, Rory's at the hospital?" Emily asks.

"Yeah, she's going to see her new half-sister fresh from the oven." Lorelai tells her.

"Well, that's a most unpleasant description. I thought we'd have martinis."

"Sure, Grandma!" Lauren says, happily. "Because I decided to skip the baby appearance and spend my much needed time with you which causes for celebration."

"Coke, Lauren?" Emily asks, ignoring Lauren's comment.

Lauren sighs. "Yes, Grandma." She sits down as Lorelai follows.

"No maid tonight?" Lorelai asks.

"Leloni usually takes Sundays off but she wanted to switch and seeing as it's just us, I said yes." Emily explains.

"Leloni, very exotic name." Lorelai says.

"She's from Honolulu."

"Cool! Does she know Don Ho?" Lauren asks.

"No."

"Charo?"

"No."

"The C&H pure cane sugar dancers?"

Emily glares at her grand-daughter. "More and more like your mother every day."

Lauren smiles proudly. "Thank you."

"So who cooked dinner?" Lorelai groans. "Don't tell me it's you because we can always diet."

"Leloni made a roast before she left, and I heated it up." Emily tells her.

Lorelai gasps to Lauren. "She heated it up."

Lauren laughs. "I heard."

"I even added a little wine to the pan to keep it from drying." Emily continues as she walks over and hands them each their drinks.

"Well, who died and made you Sara Moulton?" Lorelai teases.

"Drink this and be quiet."

"So, how long is Grandpa gone for this time?" Lauren asks curiously.

"Two weeks."

"Didn't he just come home last week?" Lorelai asks.

"He did."

"So, business must be pretty good."

"I suppose." Emily says, looking concerned. "He has to work twice as hard as he ever did. And I'm still not sure that he's made a dime yet. However, he's having the time of his life. So what can you do?"

"Nothing, I guess." Lorelai looks at her daughter who started to read the newspaper Richard had left on the coffee table and then she turns to her mother look curious. "Hey, Mom, can I asked you something?"

"Of course you can."

"What do you do while Dad is gone?"

"I do all sorts of things."

"Like what?"

"Well, I keep this house running."

"Uh-huh." Lorelai nods, needing to hear more.

"I have my DAR meetings, and there's always a thousand calls to make. I have functions and fundraising events to organize, a million different things."

"Okay, but what do you do at night?"

"Excuse me?"

"I mean, you don't organize functions at night, do you?"

Emily smirks at her daughter. "What are you insinuating?"

"I'm not insinuating anything, Mom. I'm just trying to find out a little about your life."

"Well, your father calls every night at nine and we talk."

"So you spend fifteen minutes talking to Dad and then you hang up the phone, and you—what? Watch television?"

"I don't want that much television. I don't find forensic work as fascinating as the rest of the world." Emily explains.

"You have cable, right? You can watch movies." Lorelai wonders.

"Yes. But I never know where the maid puts that guide they send you. So I always wind up turning it on after a movie has started and I don't like to come in on the middle of things."

"You could tape the movies, or get a DVD player."

"I don't need a DVD player."

"Well, why not? Then you could buy all those musicals you love and watch them whenever you felt like it."

"I'm not an invalid, Lorelai."

"Well, of course you are." Lorelai rolls her eyes. "Why else would I suggest a DVD player?"

"I can fill my time myself and I'd like you to drop this conversation right now." Emily says sternly as she stands up.

"Where are you going?"

"We are going to eat and we are going to have a conversation about Lauren and her school and her life and anything else that we are unable to discuss at any other given time."

Lauren sighs heavily and glares at her mom. "See what you did." She says as they follow Emily into the dining room.

-Flashback – Christopher and Lorelai, Age 15 -

"This is unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable!" Christopher's father, Straub, yells loudly.

"I feel sick." Francine, Christopher's mother says.

"Everything's gone." Emily walks into the living room where her husbands and Christopher's parents are sitting around discussing their children. "It's been tossed right out the window." Francine cries harder. "Stop crying!" Straub tells his wife.

"Here, Francine, drink your water, we need to calm down." Emily tells them. "Getting upset won't get us anywhere."

"What do we tell people?" Francine asks.

"Who needs to know?" Emily asks.

"What do you mean, who needs to know!?" Straub yells.

"You don't have to yell at me, Straub."

"Everybody has to know and will know. We can't pretend this didn't happen."

"We could send her away." Francine suggests.

"Excuse me?" Emily asks.

"Aren't there places that take girls like that?"

"Girls like what, Francine?"

"Well, girls in—" Francine hesitates. "I can't handle this at all." She continues crying.

"Stop crying, damn it!" Straub says.

"Christopher is as much to blame as Lorelai." Emily reminds them.

"Like hell he is."

"They're in this together."

"Why should he sacrifice everything we planned for him just because—"

"Choose your words extremely carefully." Emily interrupts.

"Emily, you know we love Lorelai, you know that." Francine says. "But Chris is so young, he's a baby."

"Well, Lorelai's not collecting social security."

"Why doesn't she get rid of it?" Straub asks.

"What?"

"It's an option."

"It's certainly not an option."

"Why not?"

"Because I say so."

"Then what the hell are you suggesting? What's your solution to this problem?"

Richard who has been keeping quiet through this whole thing, who looked completely devastated, finally stands up and speaks. "They will get married. They will live here. And Christopher will go to work at my company. That is the solution. Now we have a plan so we can all stop talking about it. Please excuse me. I have work to do." Richard walks away leaving them to continue arguing about the kids.

"I think Richard's plan sound sensible." Emily says.

"I have one question: Why his company?" Straub argues.

Christopher and Lorelai are sitting in the stairway listening to the adults discuss a plan for them. "I know we're all upset here, folks, but maybe we should ask the kids what they think." Lorelai says sarcastically. "'Lorelai, Christopher, anything to add?'"

"Quiet, they'll hear you." Christopher tells her.

Lorelai rolls her eyes. "Not likely. I don't know how long I can sit here like this." She says, glaring down at their parents.

"It's okay, let them talk.

"They're talking about us."

"They're trying to figure out what to do."

"What to do with our lives. Our lives. Yours and mine and its."

"We're gonna need their help." Christopher tells her.

"We can take care of ourselves."

"How?"

"We'll figure it out."

"It's okay, it sounds okay."

"What sounds okay?"

"Working for your dad, living here. It sounds okay."

"Chris, no, what about Europe and sleeping on a bench in Paris?" Lorelai asks.

Christopher shakes his head. "I can't do that now, I have to get a job."

"No."

"I have to make money."

"No!"

"It's okay. Really."

Lorelai couldn't believe this was happening. Everything was changing.

-End Flashback-

-Flashback—Lorelai, Age 20. Rory, Age 4-

Lorelai went to work that morning and talked to Mia about what happened with Christopher and how she is pregnant, again. Mia immediately scolds Lorelai and then proceeds to take Lorelai to the doctor, appointment or not, Mia was getting Lorelai checked out. They needed to confirm this.

And a couple hours later it was confirmed and Lorelai was freaking out all over again. Lorelai was now at home pacing back and forth in her bedroom. Her daughter was downstairs being the perfect child that she is, reading a book, and Lorelai was about to break the news to her only child that she was not going to be an only child anymore in nine months.

Lorelai walks out of her room, finding her kid once again her nose in a book as she sits on the couch. "Hey, hon. Can we talk?"

Rory sets her book aside and smiles up at Lorelai. "Sure, Mommy."

Lorelai closes her eyes, wishing her daughter didn't act more grown up than her sometimes at four years-old. Lorelai sits down beside her daughter and takes a deep breath, taking in daughter's innocence. "Rory, babe, I have some news."

"What?"

"Rory, I'm just going to come out and say it because you are a smart kid and I think you can handle it." Lorelai says as if she was speaking to a teenager instead of a four-year-old. "Honey, how would you feel about being a big sister?" Lorelai watches Rory think for a moment, trying to figure out what Lorelai just asked her.

"A big sister?" Rory questions.

Lorelai nods, slowly. "Yes."

"Is that why you're always sick?"

Lorelai smiles in disbelief. "Wow. You're so smart. But yes, that's why I've been sick. "

Rory squints up curiously at her mom. "So, you have a baby inside you?"

"Yes." Lorelai wasn't sure what else to say.

"Can I read my book now?" Rory asks.

Lorelai was taken back. She was expecting more from Rory. Thankfully, a couple weeks after letting the news sink in, Rory was starting to excited. At first she was a little upset being that she wasn't going to be the only child anymore and was going to have to share her mom, but Lorelai explained the good things about being an older sister and all the things Rory will be able to teach them, and that's when Rory started to get excited.

-End Flashback—Present Day-

Rory is sitting in Sherry's hospital room. She had been calling clients for Sherry for her work. "So we'll see you next Friday at three. Sorry for the short notice. Bye." Rory hangs up.

"Great. Who's next?" Sherry asks.

"Sheldon Harnick." Rory reads.

"Set him for Wednesday."

"Okay."

"Oh, and don't tell him I'm pregnant. He hates pregnancy."

"How about a plumbing problem?" Rory suggests.

"Sounds good."

The nurse walks in. "Okay. So how are we doing?"

"I'm not sure." Sherry tells her.

"Don't be nervous, everything will be fine. I just wanted to check and see who'll be with you in the delivery room while it's happening."

"My fiancé is on his way. Right?" She asks Rory.

"Yes, he's on his way." Rory confirms.

"When he gets here, he'll come in with me." Sherry tells the nurse.

"And if he doesn't make it here on time?" The nurse asks.

"We'll have to wait."

"I'm afraid that's going to be tough to arrange. Once it starts, that's it."

"Uh. Okay, then I guess it's Rory. Right?"

Rory looks surprised. She was not expecting to have to be in the room when the baby was born. Nor did she want to be in the room when the baby was born. "Oh. Absolutely." She says looking very uncomfortable.

"Okay. I'm gonna get you a gown and gloves, so you'll be set, in case you have to go in." The nurse tells Rory.

"That sounds great." Rory says.

"I'll be right back." The nurse walks out.

"Okay, where were we?" Sherry asks.

"Listen, Sherry—"Rory says, standing up. "I really need a cup of coffee. Would you mind if I ran out really quick?"

"Go ahead. I'll make the next few calls myself."

"Okay." Rory walks out and quickly dials on her phone once she gets into the hallway.

"Hello?" Lorelai answers from the middle of their dinner

"Mom, they're giving me gloves." Rory panics.

Lorelai looks confused. "What're you talking about?"

"I don't want gloves, a gown, or to be in there."

"In where?"

"In the delivery room with Sherry."

"What?" Lorelai gasps.

"Dad's not here yet, and she told the nurse I'm going in and— "

"Where are her other friends?"

"They had to work. I'm here all by myself and I'm trying to be calm but I'm starting to feel nauseous, and the hospital has a smell, and there are noises. And those gowns don't stay closed, I've seen many butts today— "

"Okay, sweetie, calm down."

"I need you." Rory whines.

"Rory."

"I need you. I need you here and now. I cannot do this alone, I need my mommy and dammit I don't care who knows it!"

"What hospital?" Lorelai asks.

"Boston Memorial."

"We'll be right there."

"I really, really like you."

"Tell Sherry to cross her legs till then."

"Does that work?"

"No. Bye." Lorelai hangs up. "Mom, we gotta go. I'm sorry. Dinner was great." She looks at Lauren. "Come on."

"Where?" Lauren asks.

"Sherry's freaking out." Emily and Lauren quickly follow Lorelai. "Rory's the only one with her, so we're going to the hospital."

"You're going to be with your daughters' father's girlfriend while she has his baby?" Emily asks.

"Gee, Mom, I can't tell what your opinion on that might be." Lorelai grabs her things as they walk to the front door.

"Why would you do this? This woman pulled Christopher away from you and your daughters. She destroyed any chance you had— "

"Rory asked me to come, and I'm going." Lorelai says sternly.

"Mom." Lauren says looking nervously up at Lorelai.

Lorelai bends down slightly giving her daughter a sympathetic look. "I know this is the last thing you ever wanted to do, and I'm so sorry. I don't want to put you through this either. But your sister called for us. Now, you can stay, if you'd like, or be with me where believe me I know how you are feeling."

Lauren sighs, knowing her mom's right. And she surely wasn't up to sticking around here and discussing her life with her grandmother. "I don't like this." She tells Lorelai.

"I know." Lorelai smiles sadly.

Lauren grabs her mom's hand. "Bye, Grandma." Emily watches in disbelief as they walk out of the house.

-Flashback – Lorelai, Age 16 -

Lorelai is sitting in her bed watching TV and eating a sandwich when she suddenly starts having pains in her side. The pain steadily starts to increase more and more.

At the hospital, she is filling out the necessary paperwork before she can be admitted. A nurse walks up to her.

"Are you done?"

"Yes."

"Okay. Is anyone with you, hon?"

"No."

"Well, someone will be up to get you in a second."

"Thanks." Lorelai watches the nurse walk away and she looks around seeing that she is indeed alone. She pulls out her Walkman and begins listening to music as the world around her continues.

-End Flashback- Present Day-

Lorelai and Lauren walk off the elevator of the hospital and over to the nurses station.

"Excuse me, Sherry Tinsdale's room?" She asks the nurse.

"Right through there." The nurse points.

"Thank you."

"Mom!" Rory calls out from down the hall.

"Hey." Lorelai says, kissing Rory on her cheek when she gets closer.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."

"You're welcome. I'll hold this over you for the next ten years."

"Me too." Lauren tells her.

"What're you doing?" Lorelai asks, seeing the paperwork in Rory's hands.

"Xeroxing." Rory says.

"What?"

"Sherry had status reports to fax to people, but she didn't bring enough. So, I've been trying to find a Xerox machine. I conned someone to let me use theirs. I haven't found a fax machine yet."

"Wow." Lauren says giving her sister a weird look.

"Okay, come on." Lorelai says as she leads her daughters to Sherry's room.

"I have to fax these."

"Let's go."

"But we have a deadline."

They walk into Sherry's room to find her squatting on her bed while she is on the phone. "Yes, I'm having them faxed over right now. Yes, that's right. Well, I'm not sure if the numbers I have are the number that you have. That's right, that's bad." She looks over when she hears the door closed and sees Lorelai and Lauren and waves to them. "I think you should, too. Did you get those things faxed?" She whispers to Rory.

"Sherry, hang up." Lorelai whispers.

"No, I have to finish this call."

"Say goodbye." Lorelai smiles as she grabs the phone from Sherry."

"But—"

"Call him back. Hi." Lorelai says through the phone. "Sherry's going to have to call you back. I promise. Goodbye." She hangs up.

"But that was work."

"Sherry, you really shouldn't be working right now."

"I can't just stop everything because I'm—"

"Having a baby." Lorelai finishes for her. "Admitting it is the first step."

"I'm not ready." Sherry complains. "I had it planned. Christopher was supposed to be here."

"I know."

"I don't know what to do."

"Calm down and stop working first off."

"Okay." Sherry says, looking unsure.

"And why are you sitting like that?"

"Maureen told me that Howard Stern said that squatting makes the baby come out faster."

"Okay." Lorelai nods. "As long as you have a sane reason from a reliable source."

"I'm scared."

"I know. It's scary, and it hurts like hell. And remember when it comes out don't look at it too hard, until they give it a good cleaning or you'll think you gave birth to phlegm. But once they give it a good scrub it's just unbelievably cool."

"Yeah?"

"Well, look how good they grow up." Lorelai smiles as she points to her daughters. "Not bad, huh?"

Sherry smiles at the girls. "I hope I get that lucky. Lauren, I'm so glad you're here." Lauren just nods, not knowing what to say. She was still upset about everything, and granted so were Lorelai and Rory, but right now that had to be put behind them, for the baby's sake. "Lorelai—"

"Yeah?"

"My ankles are starting to hurt."

"Okay, here, grab an arm." Lorelai tells Rory as they help Sherry lay back down.

"I'm glad you're here." Sherry tells Lorelai.

"At this moment you probably should be."

Rory is getting coffee for the three of them just as Lorelai walks up.

"She's jogging in place." Lorelai scoffs.

"Why?"

"I think she's hoping to aerobicize the thing out."

"Well, should we stop her?" Rory asks.

"I tried, she almost took an eye out."

"Well, that can't be good for the baby."

"It's no worse than the guilt trip it's gonna get for showing up early."

"You do know it's a girl."

Lorelai sighs. "Yes. I should probably stop calling her 'it.'"

"I was just bringing you and Lauren some coffee. Where is my little sister?" Rory asks, noticing that Lauren wasn't with her.

"Thanks." Lorelai says, grabbing one of the cups. "She's keeping watch to make sure Sherry doesn't fall."

Rory looks surprised. "She's in the room with her? Alone?"

Lorelai scoffs. "Of course not. She's outside, looking through the window."

Rory frowns. "How mad is she at me right now?"

"She's not mad at you. She's mad at the situation. We're all mad at the situation. But we're here for you and she understands that."

Rory nods. "I'll have to make it up to her."

"Big time. So, did you try calling your dad again?" Lorelai asks.

"His cell's not in service, or out of range or something."

"You do know if he doesn't get here I have to go in with her."

"Yes, I do."

"I don't wanna go."

"At least you know what's gonna happen."

"I had the cheap seat before. My view was quite different." Lorelai says as they walk over to Lauren.

"Should we buy a camera or something?" Rory asks.

"For what?"

"If Dad doesn't get here, shouldn't we—"

"No." Lauren says, overhearing them. "He wasn't there when we were born so why should we let him believe he was here for this one?" She asks as she continues looking through the window.

"I agree with Lauren." Lorelai shrugs.

"I just thought it would nice." Rory says.

"Lore!" Christopher calls out as he runs over to them. "Rory, Lauren!"

"Thank God you're here, Chris." Lorelai says thankfully.

Christopher kisses all three on their cheeks. "Has it happened? Did I miss it?"

"No." Rory smiles.

"You have perfect timing." Lorelai tells him.

"I must've broken fifteen laws getting here. I don't even remember where I left my car, I thought I wouldn't make it." Christopher says out of breath.

"Well, take a breath, you did make it. Sherry's gonna be thrilled."

"Where is she?"

"Come." Lorelai points to the door.

"This?"

"Yeah." They follow Christopher inside the hospital room where she is being prepped to leave. "Sherry."

"Chris, you're here! I can't believe you're here, I didn't think you'd make it." Sherry says happily.

"Are you kidding?" He asks, kissing her on her forehead. "Do you think I'd miss this?"

The girls stand to the side watching the two. Lorelai was frustrated with the fact that Christopher made a point to not miss this when he didn't even attempt to try with her two. Lauren looks up seeing the expression on her mom's face. So, she grabs her mom's hand and gives it a gentle squeeze.

"I'm sorry, I'm in a lot of pain." Sherry tells him. "And I can't think straight."

"I take it this is your fiancé." The nurse says.

"This is him, this is my Christopher."

"Well, Christopher, are you coming in with us?"

"Try and stop me." Christopher says as he grabs Sherry's hand.

"Okay. Let's go then." They push Sherry out of the room.

"We'll be right here, waiting." Rory tells them.

"Have fun!" Lorelai adds.

"Have fun?" Lauren asks.

"Well—" Lorelai grimaces.

-Flashback – Lorelai, Age 16-

Lorelai is going through labor, and is finally being pushed to a room.

"This is a big pain. I'd like it to go away." Lorelai yells out.

"Just breath deep, honey." The nurse tells her.

"It doesn't help. Can I hit you instead?"

"What?"

"Or pinch you? That'll make me feel better."

"No, you cannot pinch me."

"Can I bite you, pull your hair, or use the Epilady on you? Cause I need to do something." She groans in pain.

"Lorelai Gilmore!" Emily calls out as she and Richard walk into the hallway where Lorelai is being rolled through.

"Wheel this a little faster." Lorelai scolds the nurse.

Emily and Richard hurry after Lorelai. "Lorelai, you do not do this." Emily yells sternly. "You do not leave a person a note."

"See the timing here."

"'Dear Mom and Dad, I'm in labor. See you later, Lorelai'" Emily reads the note.

"Emily, please, I feel ridiculous." Richard begs from behind them.

"You're having a baby, do you know that?"

"That explains the stomachache." Lorelai says sarcastically.

"You do not leave the house when you're having a baby without telling me. I'm your mother. You say, 'Excuse me, Mom, I'm having a baby, give me a ride to the hospital.'"

"Emily, please, I wore the wrong shoes for this." Richard tells her.

"Of all the things in the world, I had a right to drive my daughter to the hospital to give birth! Especially since she's sixteen years old and doesn't have her driver's license yet!"

"Ma'am, I need you to wait out here, please." The nurse says stopping them from entering the room.

"Why?" Emily asks.

"Because we're going into the delivery room."

"I want to go in."

"No, Mom, please." Lorelai begs.

"Yes, Emily, please." Richard says.

"Fine. We'll be right here when you're done." Emily tells her.

"Super." Lorelai says as she gets pushed into the room.

"And do not think we are finished discussing this, because we are not!" Emily yells.

"Emily, let's just sit here." Richard says, leading his wife to the empty seats outside of the room.

-End Flashback – Present Day-

"I'm glad he got here." Rory says as they walk out of the room.

"Yeah, me, too." Lorelai says.

"So, I guess now we wait?"

"Now we wait." Lorelai nods. She puts her arms around both her daughters and they walk to the waiting room.

A couple hours go by, Lorelai already had both girls asleep on either side of her. It felt like hours of waiting before Christopher finally came out.

"Lore." Christopher whispers.

"Are you a daddy?" Lorelai smiles.

Christopher nods and smiles happily. "Come on, come look." Lorelai looks at her girls. "We'll wake Rory and Lauren later."

"Okay." She says and follows Christopher out of the waiting room. "So, how was it?" She asks once they get back into the hall.

"Oh, man, Lore, in my wildest dreams I never could've imagined. I mean, I've never been that nervous, terrified, or nauseous in my entire life. It was like—the most amazing thing ever in the world." Lorelai laughs. "It was like—well, you know."

"Yes, I do know."

"I've never seen anything like it."

"Yeah."

"And Sherry was great. I'm flying, I mean it, I'm flying." They stop at the window of the baby nursery. "There."

"Wow." Lorelai says as she looks at the baby.

"That's my daughter." Christopher smiles.

"I can tell."

"How?"

"I think she conned that one out of his blanket."

Christopher laughs. "She's perfect."

"Rory and Lauren was perfect." Lorelai tells him. "She, however, is a good solid third."

Christopher nods. "I just can't believe it."

"She's beautiful. Really. Congratulations, Christopher."

"Thank you. Thank you for letting Rory be here and for bringing Lauren. Thank you for everything." He says, sincerely.

"Of course."

-Flashback—Christopher and Lorelai, Age 16-

They are looking through the nursery window at baby Rory.

"She's pretty." Christopher says.

"She perfect." Lorelai says in awe.

"So, I guess we should get married."

Lorelai looks away, knowing that's exactly what she didn't want.

-End Flashback-

-Flashback—Lorelai, Age 21. Rory, Age 5-

Lorelai is sitting in her hospital bed, holding baby Lauren in her arms. She is staring down happily at her new baby-girl when her other baby-girl runs in with Mia trailing behind.

"Mommy!" Rory yells happily. "Can I meet my baby sister yet?"

Lorelai smiles at Rory's excitement. "Hop up." With Mia's help Rory jumps on the bed and sits at Lorelai's side, looking down at baby Lauren. "Rory, meet your sister, Lauren Lorelai Gilmore."

"She's adorable." Mia says.

Rory smiles down at her baby sister and gives her a kiss on the head. "She's perfect."

Lorelai closes her eyes and pulls both her daughters close all while kissing Rory lovingly on her head.

-End Flashback—Present Day-

"I should go wake Rory and Lauren, don't you think?" Christopher asks Lorelai who was still staring at the baby in front of her.

"Yeah, they'd like to see this." Lorelai says.

Christopher gives Lorelai a kiss on her cheek before he walks away to wake his girls. Lorelai continued to stare at the baby even after Christopher walked away. She was feeling all the emotions especially jealousy. Where was he when his other two little girls were born? Where was he when she needed him most?

On another day, Emily is looking through some mail when the doorbell rings.

"I'll get it, Leloni. You find out where that smell is coming from." Emily yells out as she walks to the front door. She opens it and is surprised to find her daughter standing behind it holding a DVD box and a few movies. "Lorelai."

"Hi, Mom." Lorelai smiles as she walks in.

"What on earth are you doing here? What is this?" She asks looking at the box.

"This is your new DVD player." Lorelai tells her as she walks into the living room.

"My what?"

"Plus I picked up Singin' in the Rain, Funny Girl, Easter Parade, An American In Paris, and as a bonus the new classic dance series, Urban Cowboy, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Footloose, and Flashdance. Trust me, you'll be cutting up your sweatshirts all weekend."

Emily looks confused as they sit down on the couch. "Why did you do this?"

Lorelai hands the movies to her mother as she opens the DVD box. "Cause I thought you'd enjoy it."

"But I don't know anything about a DVD player."

"Mom, once it's hooked up, all you have to do it press play."

"But who's going to hook it up?" Emily asks.

"I am." Lorelai says as she looks over the directions.

"You know how to hook it up?"

"I know how to read the manual."

"Since when?"

"Please."

"Maybe we should get a professional."

"I can do this, just give me five seconds."

Emily waits five seconds. "Well? Well, can you do it?" Lorelai continues reading. "Oh, just forget it!" Emily exclaims.

"Mom, please. Just let me focus for one more second. If I cannot do it I'll get a professional DVD guy in here to install it, okay?"

"I still don't understand why you got me this." Emily looks through the movies and gasps. "I love this movie." Lorelai smiles softly, nodding. Emily gasps again.

-Flashback – 17 years ago-

Emily and Richard are dressed up and coming downstairs.

"Lorelai, we're leaving!" Emily calls out to her daughter. "Well, what do you know, she finally put Rory's stroller away. First time in a year I didn't trip."

"Where's my scarf?" Richard asks.

"I told Tina to put everything out for you."

"Where?"

"Look on the table."

"You must be more specific with her." Richard says.

"Fine, Richard."

"There should be a designated place for things." Richard says as he grabs a scarf from the table.

"Whatever you say, Richard. Lorelai, we are leaving! Please acknowledge that! Where is that girl?"

"Well, this is not the scarf I asked for."

"It looks fine. Can you just wear it?"

"No. I'm going to go back upstairs and get the scarf I intended to wear." Emily sighs before noticing a note on the entryway table. "I'm surprised at you, Emily." Richard continues as his wife walks to the table. "These are your friends we're seeing tonight. You would have thought my appearance would be a priority for you." Emily picks up the note and reads it. Richard throws his scarf down. "I didn't want to go in the first place. I have an early meeting in the morning, and I would rather go to bed and ignore the fact that the symphony has to reupholster its mezzanine this year. Emily?" Richard asks walking over to her. He stops when he notices her tears. "Emily?"

Emily and Richard walk through the door to find their mailed piled up on the entryway table. They had been away on vacation in London for the first month of June and were just arriving back at home.

"Didn't you tell Katherine to put the mail in the designated mail area?" Richard asks his wife.

Emily rolls her eyes. "We don't have a designated mail area, Richard." Emily says as she begins looking through the mail.

"Well, we should. We can't keep going on vacation and returning to all these envelopes by our door, practically pushing us back out." Richard complains. Emily rolls her eyes as she listens to her husband. But she suddenly looks in confusion at the envelope in her hands that is addressed from their daughter, Lorelai.

"Oh, my gosh." Emily says as she reads what's inside.

"What is it?" Richard asks as she walks closer, looking above her shoulder.

Emily starts to tear up. "Our grand-daughter was born."

-End Flashback—Present Day-

Lorelai is still reading the instructions while Emily is waiting impatiently on the side of her.

"Okay." Lorelai says.

"Can you do it?" Emily asks.

"I have no idea." Lorelai stands up and grabs the box.

"Are you going to take it back?" Emily wonders as she follows Lorelai.

"I'm going upstairs."

"Why?"

"I think I should put this in your bedroom. That's your best TV."

"But you said you couldn't hook it up."

"I'll figure it out." Lorelai shrugs as she walks to the stairs.

"But there are wires involved, connections, and electricity." Emily says, following her. "You'll hurt yourself or set the house on fire."

"In your Easter bonnet—" Lorelai starts to sing.

"You could ruin our television set." Emily continues, but Lorelai continues to ignore her as she climbs the stairs and sings.

"Will all the frills upon it. You'll be the grandest fella in the Easter parade."

"I don't like being ignored, Lorelai!" Emily yells as she follows Lorelai up.

"And when they look us over we'll be the proudest couple in the Easter parade—" Lorelai continues singing as Emily continues ranting as she follows her daughter upstairs to her bedroom.
