I love Mordred. I really do. He was just so awesome both as a child and as a young man and I really hope that you like this drabble on him. :)

Just a Boy

He had idolized Arthur. Ever since he was a child, that first meeting, he had idolized him. Arthur stood for all things good, noble, pure. He stood for justice and equality for the poor and rich alike. And he idolized him for that. He had dreamed of returning to Camelot, of becoming a knight, of serving Arthur honorably and with all the loyalty he possessed.

He had never thought of the negative sides. Of the sheer brutality that came with standing for the right. He had never seen Arthur's prejudice against those with magic. He had never seen Emrys fighting against him, fearing him for an untold reason. He had never thought that his loyalty to his idol would ever be put to the test like this: his idol or his love.

And when push came to shove there was only one way he could take. He was only a boy, barely out of childhood. He had never experienced the grey areas of life, had never known that the answers weren't always clear. So when it came time to make his choice, it tore his heart, but he wouldn't go back. He couldn't go back.

He was just a boy. And boy's make mistakes.
