Dean was in shock from what Rose had just told him. He watched her slam her hand into Crowley's face and he heard her yell the words though they seemed to be coming form so far away. Suddenly Sam was grabbing his arm while dragging a groggy Crowley with him.
"Come on Dean, we have to go." Sam yelled at his brother while cursing his sister in his mind. She had to do it right at the end didn't she? Oh and then of course she dropped him right in it. But that could wait until later right now he needed Dean to move.
Dean came back to himself when the ground beneath him started to shake. Taking a look around he almost didn't move, seeing Rose lying on the floor glowing with yellowy energy sparkling all over her body but then he noticed Sam was at his side and his ingrained 'must protect Sammy' protectiveness took over and he helped his brother by grabbing Crowley's other arm and the three ran out of the church doors and jumped into the impala that was parked outside.
The three of the watched as on the horizon they saw a massive black cloud storming its way towards them. "Wow, that really is rather scary isn't boys?" Crowley said from the back seat, though both the Winchester's ignored him.
The black cloud seemed to be coming from all directions, racing towards them and church they had just left. When the first of the cloud hit it burst the roof of the church, raining debris down on the car. Once they where surrounded by the black cloud of demons they couldn't see anything. All they could do was wait and listen. Within the cloud they could hear screams of such pain and felt the car being buffered by the violence with which the demons were being hauled back to hell. Even the Winchester's who hated demons winced at it. Crowley curled up into himself rocking on the back seat with his hand over his ears, trying to block out all the sounds of hell that surrounded the car. After 5 minutes of this torture they noticed it started to get lighter, the cloud was thining. It seemed that most of the demons on earth had gone back to hell and it was only the stragglers left.
When it seemed they had all gone Dean turned to ask Sam if he thought that was it when there was a sudden explosion that rocked the car. Almost turning it over from the shock wave. Dean whipped his head around and saw that the church was no longer standing. Instead in a perfect circle all the building materials where spread around a central point. It reminded him of how all the trees where flattened after he came back from hell, the pattern was just the same, even if it was not trees this time but a building. It was then he realised that his question to Sam was redundant. It was all over now.
The gates of hell had been closed by the sacrifice of a human soul.
Castiel and Gabriel where sitting with Bobby when they felt it. The explosion rock though them and they knew what it meant. Gabriel lowered his head and put it in his hands. Rose was dead, there was nothing he could do to change it now.
"It is done." Castiel said, emotionless to Bobby's questioning glaze. He nodded once.
"Well then I guess this is goodbye. For now." Bobby said gruffly, refusing to think about Rose.
"Yes." Castiel replied. They should leave but he wasn't quite ready to go.
"Take care of yourself Castiel." Bobby said as he pulled the angel into a manly hug.
"You too Bobby." Castiel replied returning the hug. He was going to miss this wise old man he had come to not just respect but like. Maybe they had even become friends along the way to the ending of the apocalypse.
When Bobby let go of Cas he turned to Gabriel, who just raised his head at the man. Bobby couldn't help it he just gulped. Gabriel looked so desolate. Bobby squared his shoulders, realising he was going to have more faces like this to console soon, he might as well start now. With that thought he pulled the archangel into a hug, surprising him, making some of the old trickster return.
"What ya doin' old man?" Gabriel asked softly, though his mind wasn't really in it.
"Who you calling old? You've been around since the creation of earth." Bobby replied not letting go.
"True but as I'm never going to die I don't really age." Gabriel responded and then continued when Bobby didn't let him go. "Um what's the hug for?"
"Family don't end in blood angel. You take care of yourself and your little brother you got that?" Bobby said as he pushed away from Gabriel but still holding his arms. Just as he would if it were Dean in front of him.
"Yeah sure old man." Gabriel replied with a smile on his face at the man in front of him.
"Good." And with that bobby let go of Gabriel and walked out of the room. Not wanting the angels to see the tears glistening in his eyes at the thought of all those who have left or where leaving.
