So, here's another chapter and thanks to doctor Anthony for proof reading.

.

*Heavy pounding*

.

"Who knocks on my door?"

.

"One that seeks entrance into Hell."

.

.

*Demonic laughter*

.

"Don't mock me or I'll kick these gates down."

.

"That I have no doubt you would try to do."

.

"Then let me in, with all my sins I belong here."

.

"This is not the first time you have come here and demanded entrance, sooner or later I may decide to let you in."

.

*A woman appears, she is familiar and surrounded by a white golden halo*

.

"You don't belong here my Bright Eyes."

.

"Who are you?"

.

"You know who I am, but you need to return."

.

*Suddenly the gates of Hell disappear and they are standing in a corridor lit by a bright white light*

.

"I don't understand."

.

"All will become clear in time, you have to wake up now sweetheart."

.

"Mom, is that you?"

.

"My beautiful boy, you need to wake up now."

.

"Mom don't leave me… not again."

.

"We are never apart, I will always be with you, but you need to wake up."

.

"Why, why can't I stay, why can't I be allowed to finally die?"

.

"Your loved ones need you."

.

"Mom, I'm so sorryI… I couldn't remember you."

.

"Don't cry my Bright Eyes. You'll see me again when your time comes."

.

"Soon it will be time for you to remember."

.

"I'm scared Mom. I don't want to remember all the things I've done."

.

"Don't be, everything is going to be alright."

The dream was over and he was finally awakening.

He could hear and feel water running around him, he slowly opened his eyes and had to blink as the midday sun shone upon him.

He could hear the drip of the earlier rain dripping in the jungle a few yards away despite the babbling river.

Then he noticed a shadow above him and then a gentle snout touch on his cheek.

He opened his eyes again and looked into the reptilian eyes of a young nykoraptor with a large red spot across her snout.

"Red Nose, glad to see you." He mumbled and then tried to sit upright, and immediately pain shot through his body from his left side.

He held his hand on his side and noticed the branch that was sticking out of him.

"Damn, a couple more inches to the right and this might have really hurt." He thought as he studied the wound and the branch, it was just barely stuck in his side and didn't look as if it had damaged anything important… But it DID hurt like it were…

"The fall must have knocked me out cold, and then the river must have taken me here." He thought as he carefully without needlessly aggravating his wound scanned the surrounding area.

He felt a slight pain on his forehead and it felt like he had an injury there as well.

The young nyko – that he had named Red Nose for the large red spot on her snout – was hovering over him as if to make sure that he didn't hurt himself more.

He gently put his right hand over her snout.

"I'm alright Girl." He said soothingly to her and then chuckled slightly as he remembered how he had met and eventually befriended the female nykoraptor.

First time was when he was outside the colony at night and Red Nose had then attacked him, the second time was when he saved her from an allosaurus, and then the third time just after he had made contact with Titan's squad and sent Kara off to Guzman.

He'd just killed a slasher and was about to take what meat he could off it when Red Nose had showed up, he had given her from what he'd carved away from the carcass and the young female nyko had decided to stay, more or less.

"First things first, I need to get this branch out of me and take care of the wound." He thought and then he heard a faint throat sound not far and rose carefully and searched around and found the mangled body of that unisol that had had pushed them both into the waterfalls, the man had been twisted in half and was in an unnatural position, what was sickening was that the poor bastard was still alive

As if to mock their grief the rain had stopped and the sun had come forth sending tendrils of light through the thick jungle canopy.

As Taylor's convoy lumbered through the jungle, everyone was depressed.

"Commander Taylor, we've met up with a couple of grunts from Guzman's group, over." Came a communication from one of the outriders that had taken point.

"Where are you now, over?" Taylor queried.

"We are just ahead of the convoy sir, over." Came the reply.

As they rounded a turn on the clearing Taylor could see the outrider along with two soldiers he recognized from Guzman's command.

"All stop." Taylor ordered.

The entire convoy came to a stop, and Taylor got out of the rhino after the first rover.

The two soldiers were escorted to them by the outrider that had found them, one male and one female soldier that looked like a pair of kids that had just found a candy store.

"Hot dog, Commander Taylor's alive! We've been lookin' for ya." The young male soldier shouted happily in a deep southern accent.

"Calm down soldier." Taylor ordered half-heartedly as he understood how they must feel.

"Sir, we've got a new arrival she came with the 11th." The female soldier pointed out in a Slavic accent, as her male companion was almost jumping up and down, she rolled her eyes at the young man's antics.

"Well, report soldier." Taylor demanded.

"Better that you talk to the Lieutenant for yourself sir, the new arrival is at our current camp at Outpost 4." The female soldier noted.

The third day of the Templar incursion had seen already near a thousand people including soldiers and civilians alike having come through the portal, and it was getting cramped at the area around the portal and a temporary base camp with fortified defences was being set up to ward off any potential dangers.

From the Datum timestream, Commander Wolfe had ordered that the first convoys be sent through to the almost finished Templar colony to finish the defences so that the rest could be safe as they arrived – so far, the colony had been named Nova Templar and the name seemed to stick with the people as firstly engineers protected by soldiers made their way through the jungle while others started the task clearing out any Phoenix Group personnel that had taken several outposts belonging to Terra Nova.

Thanks to the Phoenix Group earlier campaign having cleared out much of the more hostile wildlife the convoy had been largely unmolested.

Of course, there had been incidents but without human losses…

Hours later at Outpost-4.

It was darkening as Taylor's convoy arrived at the outpost, after taking a detour in order to avoid Phoenix patrols now controlling the roads to and from Terra Nova from the com traffic Kono had managed to listen in on.

A smiling saluting Guzman met them just outside as Taylor exited the leading Rhino almost getting toppled by Josh jumping out as he saw someone he recognized… someone he had thought killed at the Portal Terminus.

Kara came running past Guzman and her and Josh practically collided in a clash of hugging kissing and tears, as Josh started asking questions in a stream of barely coherent words with tears running down his boyish features.

Kara simply took his face between her petite hands stroking his face and kissing him deeply to assure him she was no dream, Josh held Kara so tight almost threatening to constrict her breathing.

Taylor and the others watched the scene and then Taylor turned to Guzman.

"There was something of a new arrival, where is she?" He asked directly, Lieutenant Guzman simply pointed towards where Kara and Josh were standing.

"And you are going to want to listen to her though I'm barely able to wrap my head around it." Guzman reported.

"We got a com yesterday from someone calling himself Commander Wolfe of something called the Templar, he insisted his forces are here to dislodge the Phoenix Group from Terra Nova and to aid us." Guzman finished.

"Sounds too good to be true to me, but right now I'll agree to at least listen to whatever this Wolfe has to say." Taylor said in contemplation he was definitely warry of this Templar.

First, they needed to address their wounds and rest up and of course see if they could pry young Mister Shannon off the girl before he could question her about it.

He turned and found Kono smiling at Josh and Kara.

"Lieutenant Lao." Taylor called out to him.

"Yeah Commander, what' sup." Kono answered casually as he turned and looked at Taylor, Kono like the rest of the men and women was still shattered at having lost Ben but he understood the importance of not surrendering to despair.

That plus the fact that the old man gave him a slight stern look with a raised eyebrow which made Kono straighten up.

"I need you to check the frequency coding of this Commander Wolfe." Taylor said.

Kono nodded and quickly went to work he had his suspicions as well…

While Red Nose kept a respectful distance, he approached the battered remains of the still living unisol and stared at him – for whatever it was now – he could clearly see that this had once been a man a soldier that had been robbed of his identity long ago and had been replaced by little more than a half machine.

The unisols remaining limbs were mangled in unnatural positions except for the left arm that had been torn off leaving a stump with some wiring coming out of the flesh and bone.

Some wiring could be seen sticking out of a mangled arm and out of the partially opened chest and as the helmet he had worn had been cracked open showing the horrific visage of the head – one eye had been removed and in its place a bunch of wiring stuck out that had probably been attached to the helmet somehow.

The unisol suddenly looked up at him with its remaining eye.

"What… have… they… done… to… me?" The unisol asked in a weak and slurred barely understandable voice.

He stood frozen to the spot in horror, for the first time since Somalia he felt utter horror at the poor bastard that now was laying before him could still be alive.

"Something terrible, soldier." He answered.

"I'm so sorry for what they've done to you." He added honestly.

"I… c-c-c…an't… live… like… this." The unisol pleaded in a cracked voice as if he was remembering some of who he had been before the Radcliff's – Or whomever – had enslaved him.

He pulled his knife and knelt down grimacing at the pain from the branch still stuck in his left side.

"I give you the peace in death they denied you – rest in peace soldier." He said solemnly and with one swift hard motion he drove the knife into the back of the head of the unisol that had once been a man who died instantly… at last with a sigh as if his soul was finally set free.

Still the branch in his side pained him and he backed back and found a rock and then sat down – it had basically gone clean through but mostly almost under the skin.

Now, he couldn't' just tear it out and the damn knife refused to work whenever he tried to use it on himself – at least the vibro-function.

"Guess, this is gonna hurt then!?" He mumbled as he made a fire a bit farther in from the beach as he was going to need to cauterize his wound afterwards…

Outpost 4

It was near nightfall at the newly established main camp of the now combined Terra Novian resistance forces, Commander Taylor was sitting by himself at a small fire lighting up the darkening jungle around him thinking.

Thinking had he done a couple of things differently then maybe things might not have turned out the way they did…

So many people could still be alive now had he not banished Lucas…

It made his eyes tear up at the very thought of how mad Lucas seemed to have become and when he remembered how they had once been a family… when Ayani still lived…

"Commander Taylor, sir?" A little voice spoke up and Taylor jerked up from his sad brooding and looked at little Zoe Shannon.

"Hey, Zoe Shannon." Taylor said in a friendly tone when he saw the concerned expression in the tiniest Shannon's face.

"I wish your son wasn't so…" Zoe started but tried to figure out something better to say than bad man despite that she understood that Lucas Taylor was a bad man but she didn't want to hurt the Commander's feelings as she could see that he was sad.

"It's okay pumpkin, I know my son's gone bad, I always hoped him and I could've reconciled eventually." Taylor explained. It felt good actually to talk about it and little Zoe Shannon seemed to be very alike her older sister.

"I miss Uncle Ben, I hope he's okay." Zoe said.

"I do too little one." Taylor replied and then started brooding again when all of a sudden Zoe stepped forward and sat down beside him.

"He always made us feel safe and we were always happy to see him, though he sometimes looked like he was hurt inside." She started.

"You and he are a lot alike, you both make people feel safe." She finished.

"Well now, thanks." Taylor replied and then turned to look at the fire again and sobbed very so softly that it was barely audible and Zoe could see a tear in his left eye and stood up and wrapped her arms around him as much as she could reach and hugged him, Taylor hugged her back in surprise.

"Thanks." He said softly and Zoe smiled at him.

"If you need another hug, just ask." Zoe said seriously and then she turned and walked back inside the bunker like Outpost, leaving Commander Nathaniel Taylor feeling actually a little better…

During the night Kono had finally managed to decipher the frequency now he was looking for Taylor and saw the man sitting by himself at a fire and seemed to be slumbering.

"Commander, I got it." Kono said as he hastily limped over as he was still hurting from the days of torture he had endured earlier despite Elisabeth's ministrations.

Taylor blinked at him bleary eyed at first but then shook his head a bit and rubbed his eyes and yawned.

"Report Lieutenant." Taylor ordered calmly as he sat up properly while rummaging through a box and found some dried fruit and gave some to Kono and started chewing on a piece himself.

"It was as I thought, the frequency used are basically identical to the one I uncovered being used by someone in Terra Nova, plus I also checked the code of that other message you got leading up to the raid that helped us escape." Kono reported leaning against a nearby tree.

"I figured as much, but I needed to be sure, good work Lao." Taylor said and then as he finished his meal rose.

"Then it's time we had a chat with Miss DeMere about our supposed allies then." He declared and with Kono following walked over to where Kara watched Josh sleeping.

Kara looked up when she heard Commander Taylor and Kono talking in hushed tones as they came walking into the outpost and realised that finally Taylor was ready to contact her superior and got up herself from her the two sleeping bags her and Josh had used as improvised sheets, careful not to wake him as she had seen the injuries he had sustained earlier.

She walked out of the corner room they had been sleeping in and saw Commander Taylor and walked to meet him and Kono.

"Miss DeMere, I'd like for you to contact your superior for me." Taylor said straightforwardly…

The former Unisol was burning on the pyre, it was the best he could do for a fellow soldier and victim of Radcliff and whomever she and her crazy father worked for.

He had managed to pull the partially broken branch out of his side. Now he was with his knife stripped a bullet and using the propellant –Gunpowder was no longer in use as ever since the invention of more modern propellant – that was even more flammable than the now obsolete sulphur based propellant.

He poured the powder in the wound grimacing as it both started itching and some pain.

Then he took a twig from the fire and then carefully touched the powder in his wound that ignited immediately sending shockwaves of pain through his body and he screamed.

"Aaahhh!" He screamed of the sudden pain and the third degree burns he caused closing his wound by cauterizing it.

A few minutes he kept gasping as the pain ran its course with Red Nose staring worriedly at him.

A couple of hours later after he had made sure the former Unisol had been properly burned he scraped what was left of the pyre into the river to make sure just in case that it wouldn't cause a forest fire.

Then it struck him – the memories came flooding from years past, memories of places and events that felt as if they had been another man's memories.

He remembered a flag on a shoulder – his shoulder perhaps – a flag with a pitch-black version of the North Star surrounded by a yellow halo.

He stood up and screamed in rage – he didn't care if anyone or anything could hear him he was enraged now as he started to pick up whatever he had taken from the Unisol's corpse and found around his campsite and walked into the jungle as the sun's rays just started to shine upon the Terra Nova Earth once more.

It was time that the Phoenix Group and their masters to truly know war and fear!

"Take heed, for the Devil is unchained." He thought remembering his dream and also remembering who he was and what they had done to him and to his family.

After having been knocking at the gates of Hell and been denied entry – Ben Shannon was going to cause some serious mayhem, if the Phoenix Group refused to surrender he was going to slaughter them all…
