Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.
Dean and Cas where silent for the moment, just enjoying being in each other's presence. Yes there was a lot they needed to talk through and even more they needed to work out but right now they were just enjoying the illusion of peace that had descended upon them.
Castiel went to lean against the car with Dean putting his hands in his trench coat pocket and felt something inside. With a frown he pulled out what looked like a blue tie. Turning to Dean with a head tilt he held it up to him.
Dean turned and saw what Cas had in his hand felt himself get self-conscious again. Maybe he should have removed that before giving the coat back to Cas.
Castiel looked over the tie and realised it was the same blue one that Emanuel was thinking of buying when they went and got his FBI suit.
"I thought you preferred the red one Dean." He said looking back up at the hunter.
"Yeah well, for Em, yeah." Dean replied rubbing the back of his neck.
"What do you mean?" Castiel asked tilting his head at the man next to him.
"Cas wears a blue tie. Em wears a red one." Was all Dean said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Castiel frowned still confused but returned the tie to his pocket. He would sort out his clothing later. Now there was something he felt he and Dean needed to address.
"Now I am back and staying you no longer need to have the connection with Gabriel." He said moving forwards to remove it from Dean's mind but Dean quickly dodged.
"What?" Dean asked confused and moving out of the way of Cas' fingers.
Castiel narrowed his eyes at him. "I am an angel Dean. I can talk to Gabriel so there is no need for you to as well."
"Um, yeah Cas there is." Dean replied keeping a wary distance between him and Cas' fingers. Not that he won't love to get rid of the connection with Gabriel, he just knew that he was going to need it in the fight ahead of them.
"Do you not trust me Dean?" Castiel asked lowing his fingers looking hurt.
"No it's not that its just-" Dean tried to think of a way to explain it but was luckily interrupted by the arrival of Gabriel.
"Okay, I know I'm wonderful but really you don't have to argue over little old me." Gabriel said into both their heads.
"I was just explaining that Dean no longer needs any connection with you." Castiel spoke out loud for the befit of Dean though Gabriel could feel the emotions resonating beneath the surface of his stoic expression, though whether Castiel understood them or not was a different matter, and not one Gabriel was going to be addressing right then, or ever if he could help it.
"Actually bro I won't be so fast with that." He replied smirking as Castiel narrowed his eyes at him. Not that he was visible, but as an angel Castiel knew exactly where he was.
"Why?" Castiel asked in a dangerous sounding voice.
"Cos Dean-o here needs to know the plans and Sam and Meg will get very confused if you start coming up with all the solutions or you to keep disappearing to talk." Gabriel replied smugly.
"I need to know the plans too." Castiel replied almost like a petulant child putting his hands back in his pockets.
"Well then, answers simple isn't it?" Gabriel said with a ta-da sound to his voice.
"It is?" Dean asked confused, just what was Gabriel going to suggest now?
"Yeah, we connect you two as well." Gabriel replied as if he was offering a treat to them both.
"No way." Came Dean's immediate response. No, one angel was bad enough there was no way in hell he was having two of them in his head. Nope, never going to happen.
"Hmm, me thinks he doth protest too much." Gabriel whispered into Dean's head as Castiel spoke out loud.
"You will let my brother, the archangel that became a trickster into your mind but you will not let me?" this thought hurt him. Did Dean truly not trust him? What could he do to regain this man's friendship?
"No Cas it's not that… it's just we're friends." Dean tried to explain to him, though seeing Cas' still confused face he realised he would need to say more. "I don't really want you reading my mind you know?"
"You do realise that he does that already right?" Gabriel interjected getting glares from both Dean and Castiel.
"No Gabriel I do not." Castiel said hoping to clarify this to Dean.
"Whatever you say little bro. now we doing this or what? Cos Sam is getting somewhat angsty inside." Gabriel replied, he was bored watching these two ague now. I mean really it's not that bad. So Dean will have Castiel in his head, but it'll just be like there talking to each other.
Castiel and Dean stared at each other Castiel trying his best to get Dean to agree with the look in his eyes. Finally Dean looks away and gives in. "Fine." Knowing as soon as the word left his mouth that he had just made one hell of a mistake but it was too late now to change it.
With that Castiel and Dean felt Gabe's fingers on their foreheads as a mental connection was opened between them.
"Wow, shit." Dean said involuntarily as he suddenly felt Cas inside his head. It was different to the connection he had with Gabe. Or maybe it was just more, he really didn't know how to describe it.
"What is the matter?" Castiel asked through their connection, looking at the hunter concerned.
"I thought it was weird having one angel in my head, two is just crazy." Dean replied in thought without really thinking about what he was doing. It was natural now the connection was open to use it. It seemed even more natural than talking out loud was. Which was very weird.
"Better get used to it Dean-o." Gabriel said interrupting their conversation.
"Yeah fine. Let's just get back to Sam." Dean replied still in his head.
"Wait. You two need to remember that others can't hear you. So make sure you speak out loud anything important." Gabriel said rolling his eyes at two in front of him.
"Sure." "Of course." Dean and Castiel both said respectively, out loud before walking towards the door leaving Gabriel to follow in their wake wondering what he had just got himself into.
