52nd Hunger Games: Gabriela Fisher, District 4, age 15
At first the volunteer pack says they don't want her. She's not a volunteer, though she's had enough training to keep up, and she's young (the rest are all eighteen and act like it makes them sooo much better) so they turn her down.
She kills two at the Cornucopia, the boy from Five who had her district partner pinned, and the girl from Ten, who was about to knife Candra in the back. They grudgingly accept her after that, though she's smart enough to keep a wary eye out for trouble.
Sure enough Ruby turns on her a few days in, when the two of them are out hunting as a pair, and the knife that should have pierced her heart skitters across the back of her shoulder as she turns. She's able to knock the knife away and the fight turns into a wrestling match that she finally wins, though the cut on her back and the scratches and bruises on her face, throat and arms will seriously hamper her.
She realizes that if she goes back to the rest of the pack, that they will probably turn on her too, but if she doesn't, once they see Ruby's face in the sky that they will come after her. Or she has option three: wipe them all out before they realize she's a problem.
When she gets back to the camp she notices that the boys are sleeping off their night hunt, and Candra is cleaning knives, not really paying attention.
She has Ruby's knife with its distinctive handle, and she makes her heart turn to ice as she sticks it in her former ally's back. She runs as the girl cries out and the boys wake, and makes it into the trees before they see her. Of course, they all think exactly what she wants, that Ruby came back and tried to kill them all, and the fight breaks out between the boys from One and Two, expanding to leave all but Thereus dead.
She waits in the woods, watching as he passes out and misses the night's photos. She's tempted to kill him, but figures he can still be of some use. Sure enough he spends the next few days scouring the surrounds for 'that murdering bitch from One', taking out the three others left in the process. He does finally see her following him and comes charging at her, bellowing in rage. She flees through the underbrush, back towards the cave with the bear-mutt that nearly got her the day before, and manages to provoke it out of its lair before the boy from Two catches up.
The great hairy beast mauls him pretty badly before he kills it, and makes it easy for her to take his life and claim her crown.
