![]() Although I just recently joined as a member, I was an active guest since about 2006. My guest name was commonly Jax. I now also have an AO3 account under Jax_TheSweet About Me My home is in Florida but currently I am in Iowa working at a theatre company. Previously, I worked on a cruise ship for about a year. No I am not a performer; I work backstage/in the booth. Back at home I have three little dogs, some fish, and a pet rat. I've been thinking about starting a succulent and cacti garden. I love drinking tea and coffee and I am a bit of a food snob. Hobbies Mostly reading, but occasionally I will write; however, I prefer co-authoring/writing RPGs. At one point I did have a Gaia account, but that went nowhere fast. I have thought about becoming a Beta, though my grammar and spelling are atrocious but I do enjoy expanding on ideas. I also enjoy reading comics – Currently I am reading Chew (I highly recommend) and Reading Manga/ Watching Anime– I grew up watching the classics like DBZ, Outlaw Star, andYuYu Hakusho. I am not even going to begin to make a list of all that I have read and watched, but some of my favorites are YYH, Soul Eater, Saiyuki, Naruto, One Piece, Wallflower, Outlaw Star, Bleach, Kuroshitsuji, and Yu-gi-oh! Every once in a while I will get into a gaming mood – I enjoy playing RPGs like Skyrim, Dragon Age, and Pokémon. Sadly I cannot seem to find any good RPG apps for my ipad (for free, I refuse to pay for an app). Watching cartoons – Yes, I admit that I am an adult who still loves cartoons. Watching Competitive Cooking shows –I love watching shows like Cut Throat Kitchen, Chopped, Cupcake Wars, and Sweet Genius. Story Pet Peeves 1. When an author changes a character’s personality in the middle of their story to fit a romance. I cannot even begin to describe how much I hate this. There are an overwhelming number of stories (and TV shows) I have just stopped viewing because of this. 2. Self inserts and stories were people from our world “magically” wake-up in a fandom universe or vice versa. 3. I am not a huge fan of OCs in a fanfic, especially where the main character falls in love with the OC, it might was well be a self-insert. Most fandoms have enough great characters in them already that adding an OC just seems a little pretentious. 4. When a great story does not continue. If an author gets a little blocked, they should make an author’s note and ask for a little help. Even if you do not use those ideas, maybe something will come along that will get the inspiration juices flowing again. 5. Poor word to chapter ratio. At the very least, there should be about 1,000 words per chapter. |
