REDWALL LOCKDOWN is a writing contest hosted by Survival! Magazine. Ten writers submit an original Redwall character and write chapters of a pass-along-story. Only three characters will survive-- each week, the audience chooses the weakest writer. Their character will die. Read new posts from Lockdown on the front page of Survival, and discuss it on the audience forum. After a series of mysterious disappearances and deaths, ten beasts find themselves trapped in the Abbey by rule of the malicious Abbot Carter. Cut off from society, they must discern rumor from fact, truth from lie, and uncover centuries-old secrets of the Order of Redwall. Featuring an updated 17th-century setting, Lockdown asks questions about the truth behind canon, and the Abbey's possibility for change. The aging rat Isidore keeps bees in Mossflower; at Redwall his checkered past as a hordebeast comes to light. He and the scholarly bat Aloysius seek to protect the Abbey from corruption. The wayward weasel Noel seeks their guidance. The piratical young wildcat Bludd only wants to have fun and cause chaos with her friends Foweller, an otter pup turned soldier, and Ripple, the crippled and reclusive son of Redwall's warrior. The haremaid Saskia prints illicit, treasonous, and pornographic materials for her employer; her wares are beloved of the young fox gravedigger Tamarack. The theiving mole Cobb has taken residence with Tamarack's family after his release from prison. Finally, the strange mouse Andrew has convinced himself dark, monstrous creatures haunt the Abbey. |
