Author has written 3 stories for StarCraft. I'm an 19 year-old male who wants to gain a masters in architecture. I began my writing career at 16 with Rebel Yell. I have since written two short stories in the StarCraft universe and a selection of poems/songs that are completely independant of fanfiction. My time is limited with college but I make my best efforts to write when I can. I'd like to think that I write well, and I believe it to be true. Others are more praising of my work, but for me, humility takes over. I always say to judge me for yourself by looking at my works. Jaxom's Projects: Rebel Yell: I must say this project takes up the most of my time and thoughts. It is the culmination of my writing career. The idea began after playing StarCraft all day and really wanting to see so much more of the story told. I decided to do just that and my journey began. Luckily for me, I discovered that I can write decently. Rebel Yell expaneded into about six chapters, or 85 pages, and I fell into a rut. I plowed under. I lost my focus somehow. So, I decided to look into revising what I had. I was fortunate enough to have an English teacher who loves science fiction and was willing to look over all 201 pages... That is 201 after changing the font to courier and double spacing it. I got it back after a few months and began my revision. I was amazed at how poorly my work was constructed and executed, and I must say what I wrote was a marked improvement. Yet, I ran into chapter four and came to another impasse. I finally realized that my trouble stemmed from trying to force a conflict between two people who were too similar, (Janor Hulen and Jim Raynor if you are familiar with the story.) And so, about two weeks ago, I set everything I did before aside and started from scratch. What I have bellow is part of that culmination. Rebel Yell for me is an effort to expand the universe I love so dearly. It is my tribute to the characters and the world of StarCraft and my efforts are guided by a desire to stay true to the story and characters of the original but it is also my dream to write this so that someone without knowledge of StarCraft can read and enjoy it. Breathe Deep: A short story I wrote for the Fall Short Story Contest on Shattered Enigma. You will find this story here shortly. Loves Bind: This is truely a fanfiction piece. I have created an entirely different universe within the StarCraft universe and Love's Bind is the beginning of a series of short stories dealing with my set of characters. You will see this short story here in the near future as well. Independent: I have two seperate independent novel ideas running through my head. The first is a tranditional fantasy about a young man who must choose between avenging the death of his family and friends or stopping dominion of evil over the earth. I intend the work to be a highly intriguing study into character and how choices can make all the difference. The title is Tarin's Song. The second is a modern, dark fantasy revolving around a young man who finds himself in the middle of a war between good and evil. He must choose who he wishes to fight for all the while struggling to live in the normal world. The title is The Wind of McGreggor. I also have two short story ideas that came to me in two consecutive nights by dream. I've only written outlines for them so far. I'm far to busy with other projects, but I'm confident I'll get to them at some point... maybe when I'm 39... I hope not, but yeah, you get the picture I'm sure. - Jaxom |
