Sunset Marine Inc. is a certified dealer providing engine sales , parts, and service to boaters since 1977. That is over 35 years of experience and we're still going strong. There is no other engine parts dealer in the southwest United States that can match out large selection of maintenance parts, supplies, fluids! We also have tons of hard to find, discontinued parts that you need for your vintage outboard motor by Mercury, Mariner, Evinrude, or Johnson. We carry all the original manufacturer parts that you need to keep your boat's motor running smoothly and reliably. Replacing your water pump impeller often is a great way to safeguard your boat's motor against overheating. This seems obvious but how often you actually HAVE to change it depends on how often you operate your motor and for how long. Boaters with inboard motors have a larger cooling system that can take two or more seasons of recreational boating to wear out a pump or impeller. Boats with inboard motors are two to three times more likely to need a replacement impeller each season or after each long trip. If your outboard motor has been run frequently at high rpm range for more than 2 hours at a time, the impeller can begin to wear out due to friction within the impeller pump assembly. As it wears down, it will move less cooling water through the engine and the engine will begin to run hotter. Needless to say the outboard motor will begin to wear more rapidly as it runs at higher temperatures on a regular basis. A normal temperature range for an Evinrude Etec 90 is 120 - 150 degrees, if you have an older Evinrude or Johnson outboard motor, the average running temperature will be a little lower. If you're a do-it-your-selfer who needs parts for your next project, we can help. Check out our website sunsetmarine.com.
