![]() Author has written 8 stories for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Star Wars, Thor, Avengers, Batman, Captain America, and Naruto. I am the shapes your eyes know by heart, the pieces that fit together to form a greater pattern... I am The Story. No, seriously, I am just a simple being living here on the planet Earth. Yes, I am a human - no strange alien life form. So sorry to disappoint. I am old enough to know better and young enough to disregard it _ (yes, I am one of those annoying *insert an emoticon everywhere* people, but never fear, they will not randomly show up in stories. Purposefully, though... hmm... we shall see) I am a sucker for crossovers (preferably well-written and well-thought-out) and epic masterpieces. I love stories that weave several different genres together - after all, if you're going to, say, paint a picture why only use a single color? There's a whole SPECTRUM of colors and shades to use. That being said, short poignant one-shots of a single genre can be stunning if done right (picture analogy again - black and white photography; use the shades of a single color to enrich and highlight). I love to laugh, as well. So parodies - both affectionate and otherwise - are enjoyed immensely, and stories labeled as "humor" are likely to cause spastic clicking on the link... Currently, I have about a dozen or so unposted stories in progress... one finished (Two if you want to count the quick drabble) and one in-progress actually posted. Yeah, a great record to be sure. And I refuse to publish a story until I, at the very least, have outlined it in detail and know beyond a shadow of a doubt how it will end up... Hence why only one story is finished... :p I ascribe to the theory that comics are our culture's mythology (although, honestly, fanfiction runs a close second), considering that I'm convinced that a mythology is a reflection of a culture's values, dreams, wishes, and beliefs - it's world-view if you will. Mythology as a subject in and of itself is fascinating to me - among my current favorite stories are those belonging to Norse mythology. There's just something refreshing about how over-the-top and, at times, utterly silly they are. Much like life often is. I suppose I should mention some of my favorites... these lists will probably be in constant flux... honestly, there's not many things I truly dislike... Books: (of course books come first, me being a voracious reader, and all) the Bible will always be my choice if I could only read one book ever again, Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Screwtape Letters, and 'Til We Have Faces by CS Lewis, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Holes by Louis Sachar, Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, Tale of Two Cities and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, anything by Jules Verne, most anything by HG Wells, the accounts of Sherlock Holmes by John H. Wa- um, I mean, A. Conan Doyle, The Three Musketeers and Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, The Once and Future King by T.H. White, Dracula by Bram Stoker, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, the Animorphs series by KA Applegate, the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer, the Dresden Files and Codex Alera by Jim Butcher, The Shannara series by Terry Brooks, fairy tales compiled by the Grimm brothers, Hans Christian Anderson, etc, folk tales, and stories from mythologies of all cultures... Movies: (ahh the other great form of modern storytelling) The Marvel Cinematic Universe (for those who don't know: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, Avengers, IM3, Thor: the Dark World and many, many more to come...) Inception, The Sixth Sense, Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom, though... not so much), Star Wars (I'd have to give up all right to call myself a sci-fi fan if I didn't mention this), Star Trek: First Contact and Nemesis, Star Trek: AU reboot, Pandorum, Sunshine, Alien/Aliens/Prometheus, Back to the Future trilogy, Toy Story 1, 2 and 3, (actually Pixar movies in general), the classic animated Disney movies (Aladdin, the Lion King, Great Mouse Detective, the Rescuers are at the top of the list) King Arthur, The Last Samurai, The Dark Knight Trilogy, How to Train Your Dragon, The Amazing Spiderman, the Patriot, Prince of Persia, just about anything directed or produced by Spielberg (what can i say - the guy's got the Midas touch)... oh and Veggietales, gotta love Veggietales :D Music A lot of different types; not really a fan of rap but I'll listen if it's not vulgar or profane. In fact, that's generally my rule: no vulgarity. A single expletive does not a profane song make but is usually (not always, though) a good indicator. Soundtrack - Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, Howard Shore, John Williams, Globus... Bands - Petra, Newsboys, DC Talk, Creed, Within Temptation, Red, Downhere, Nightwish, Breaking Benjamin, Third Day, Enya, Celtic Woman, Poets of the Fall, Weird Al, Linkin Park, Switchfoot, Anberlin, Loreena McKennitt, Gregorian... and Danse Macabre composed by Camille Saint-Saens. TV: I'm currently hooked on Once Upon a Time. Also on my list are Star Trek, Mythbusters, the History and Discovery channels hehe, Ninja Turtles (what? it's shown on TV), Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Sherlock, A-Team, Avatar: Last Airbender, Danny Phantom, Gargoyles, Power Rangers (Mighty Morphin' up to In Space), Stargate, Stan Lee's Superhumans, M.A.S.H., Firefly, Tom and Jerry... Anime: (yeah, I fell into the anime-trap) Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood has the more coherent storyline but the first anime isn't too bad), Death Note (second part not as much as the first), Trinity Blood, Naruto (one of those guilty pleasure deals - it's just too much fun to make fun of now that I just have to keep reading/watching until the end), Bleach (strangely, I blame my friend who had never watched anime before for this one)... Games: Tetris (got sucked into one of the little hand-held games once - I emerged from my trance about three hours later with sore fingers and a headache... and went back the next day to try and beat my score), Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess mainly), Risk, Final Fantasy 7 (wonderfully convoluted, character-driven storyline(s) with MAJOR references to Norse mythology - what's not to love?), Checkers (yes, I'm a checkers over chess person), Super Mario Brothers... Comics: Foxtrot, Get Fuzzy, XKCD, Batman (does Nightfall and No Man's Land belong here or in books?), Garfield, Ozzy and Millie, I really liked the kid Loki storyline that Marvel had going for a while, a friend showed me Marvel zombies - not sure whether i loved it or loathed it :/ it made me laugh so it goes here for the time being... Most authors have a muse or two... I have my very own anti-muse... No, Deadpool you cannot say hi. My internal Dick Grayson tends to comes out and play on occasion as well. And since I started writing chapter 9 for Asgard's Twilight (see Eleutherya's profile) Ratatosk pops up when he feels like it too... Hence the constant ADD-style jumping from story to story. Last thing y'all should know: I am majorly OCD about typos and such in my work - if you happen to catch any, please, let me know - I will not jump on you and tear you to pieces. You are not being rude, merely a conscientious reader who wants to see excellence in what they read. Flamers though... yeah, I'll do nothing but laugh, really. They're just not worth the effort. I'm not the quickest updater so I appreciate everyone's patience. Thanks to everyone who reads and reviews (like everyone, I love getting feedback). Anyway, I hope you enjoy my musings and travels among far-off worlds not of my own making... Oh, yes, check out Tvtropes.org if you want a better understanding of the devices found in storytelling! Coming Soon! I'm currently collaborating with my fellow author Eleutherya on a large series of stories that take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Thor and Avengers in particular. Orbitals is here on my page and they already have a few up on their profile so go check them out! Coming Eventually Thrymskvitha: an MCU take on the Lay of Thrym. Sort of an offshoot of the stories I'm co-writing with Eleutherya; takes place in the same continuity but can be read without reading the others first. Very, very pre-Thor. Many more stories are in the works in the little universe Eleutherya and I have been exploring. See keep an eye out for them if you like what we have so far. 419: A humorous tale of how one of the Avengers takes to modern technology. Incomplete: Final Fantasy VII Advent Children oneshot starring everyone's favorite (or not) sociopathic clones. I have a longer story planned that takes place in the DC universe, focusing on several of the Batkids (because all of them are awesome). This one may take a while though. |
