This is a multi-chapter story exploring Ignis' struggle to recover from his injury sustained during the Leviathan battle. It takes place before the party leaves Altissia. Prompto wants to stay and help Ignis, but Gladio believes they don't have enough time to wait for him to heal. Emphasis on inner strength, friendship, and fate. Lots of angst, but ultimately there is catharsis.

"If you knew someone was destined to die, would you still try to help them?" At the end of Noct's journey, he is given the chance to impart some advice to his younger self and his friends while waiting to move on. (Time Travel and Spoilers ahead.)

With Noctis gone, eternal darkness reigns over Eos. Still blinded but desperate to join his friends, Ignis enlists Aranea's help as he relearns to fight and survive in a post-apocalyptic world.

At the end of the first night during his time in Pitioss Dungeon, Noctis died. (Or how Noct spends five days in Pitioss, but to his friends it was only five minutes. He and his friends are then left to deal with the aftermath.)
