Wash away the sins of the world and suddenly Hell doesn't have a purpose anymore. Everyone is equal. Does that defy the laws set by the Soul King? Maybe. However, plenty of people have had grudges against the Soul King, and a simple request has reminded a certain demon of what it means to be human, and what it means to have the desire to destroy.(I'll build my own Bleach timeline).
