Author has written 6 stories for Stargate: Atlantis, Jericho, Numb3rs, Cal Leandros, Star Trek: 2009, and Hawaii Five-0. Hi. My name's not really ArokenHalo and I don't know what to write in these places. But here's giving it the ol' college try. I love to read stuff, write stuff, do stuff, eat stuff, and laugh at stuff (or with stuff). I'm not a big fan of the word "stuff", but I still end up using it a lot (and I'll admit it's kind of fun to say). I'm a Christian which means I believe in the Bible and I love Jesus Christ, think He's the bee's knees, and try to be like Him. I love my family. My dogs are cool, my brothers occasionally cooler. I go to school. I can't juggle or play the guitar or hold my breath for longer than half a minute, but I've been on three continents and I almost died once. My life has its moments, but its not terribly interesting. So, if you're actually interested enough to look at this, thanks very much and props to you. :) In lieu of other things to fill this with, I give you quotes: "Now, I get to watch you die? Is that it? Her, and now you? And this is a favor?" "It is a favor. A favor to me. You save my life all the time because you're an idiot and you don't know any better. Let me...let me do this for you just once. Because you actually deserve it." Red Seas Under Red Skies. Scott Lynch. "It's practically impossible to look at a penguin and feel angry." Joe Moore "Don't applaud. Just throw money." John Constantine, Hellblazer: The Red Right Hand. Denise Mina. "Some people believe in weird things because they are skilled at defending beliefs arrived at for non-smart reasons." Michael Shermer. "I shall commit my thoughts to paper; but that is a poor medium for the communication of feeling. I desire the company of a man who could sympathize with me, whose eyes reply to mine. You may deem me a romantic, my dear sister, but I bitterly feel the want of a friends. I have no one near me, gentle yet courageous, possessed of a cultivated as well as of a capacious mind, whose tastes are like my own, to approve or amend my plans." Frankenstein. Mary Shelley. "...the Irresistible and the Indisputable are the two weapons which the very nature of God's scheme forbids him to use. Namely to over-ride a human will (as His felt presence in any but the faintest and most mitigated degree would certainly do) would be for Him useless. He cannot ravish. He can only woo." The Screwtape Letters. C.S. Lewis. "Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense dancing." Clive James. "Judd had no particular ambitions beyond reading every book in the world and taking care of his father." The Bell at Seeley Head. Patricia McKillip. "By God, thou hast deceived me, Lancaster!/I did not think thee lord of such spirit./Before I loved thee as a brother, John/But now I do respect thee as my soul." Henry IV, Part One. William Shakespeare. "My name is Sherlock Holmes. It is my business to know what others don't know." "Blue Carbunkle," Arthur Conan Doyle. "Virgil, ever since I known you, you been dividing everything into legal and illegal. Maybe there's other ways to think about it. Everybody don't go around thinking like that." "I ain't everybody, Everett. I kill people." Resolution. Robert B. Parker "Here we just giggle a lot." "At Lib," Domenika Marzione. "Nearly the entire time we had been under fire, the PFC had been screaming frantically into the radio, 'They're attacking us, they're attacking us! The fire's all around! Everywhere! Aaaaaaahhhhh!' ... Then I moved up to the roof, hunted down Noriel and, sighing, told him that never again was Feldmeir to touch the radio. If he did, I might die." Joker One. Donovan Campbell. "The thought of this girl actually being depressed made me want to grab the whole planet and throw it into the sun. Well, more than usual, anyway." John Dies at the End. David Wong. "And a voice came from the whirlwind and the Lord said, 'Who is this that speaks words without wisdom? So brace yourself like a man for I will question you and you answer me: Where were you when I laid the foundations of the Earth?'" Job 38:1-4 "I do believe we've accomplished something today. I've fled from my responsibilities, screamed at my servants, and sat about pouting. Undoubtedly, this will convince everything I'm even more noble and honorable than previously assumed. Tomorrow, there shall be twice as many petitions, and I shall continue my inexorable march toward madness." Warbreaker. Brandon Sanderson. Right, I'm going to stop now, because otherwise I'd end up putting all my quotes up here and I'm pretty sure this profile already has more words than any of the stories I've actually posted on this site. XD Note: to clarify for some people who have reviewed and messaged, while I thank you for and seriously appreciate your interest in reading my stuff (really, thank you), everything is meant to be read as friendship or family fics. I don't write or read slash because, frankly, I don't agree with or support the idea. I don't believe that a relationship has to be romantic for it to be meaningful and cherished. I believe that people can admire each other, can appreciate each other, can support and protect each other, can tease the hell out of each other, can need each other, can rely on each other, can sacrifice for each other, can know and understand each other without it being sexual or romantic in some way. I think that people/characters should be allowed to have friends without there being some assumption about subtext between them or whatever. I'm sorry if this offends anyone but I hope what I believe doesn't affect how you respond to the stories. This isn't a soapbox, just an opinion. If yours differs and you'd like to defend it, or talk about things in general, feel free to contact me and I'll respond. If you want to flame me, that's all right, too, I suppose, but I probably won't respond. :) Anyway, that's it. Mini-note done. Thanks again. |
