![]() Author has written 1 story for Naruto. Updated 10.05.12 I only read (and perhaps write) Naruto fanfiction. This is the second and hopefully final fandom I've chosen to entertain, the only tele/book based one, and the only one of an anime/manga nature. (I do hope this doesn't change.) I'm a nobody beyond my written word. I'm not straight, I'm not a girl, I'm not a boy and I'm not American, Cambodian or Turkish. I might (not) be Antarctican. No, I'm not old either, if you're wondering, because I know you are. I'm on the good side of 25 ... *bobs head* No one? No? D'aw. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To save time, a brief summary of ships, to explain what I read (or will read) and (potentially) write: OTP/Main: Sasu/Naru/Sasu I particularly enjoy: Kaka/Naru, Kaka/Mina(Yon), Naru/Sai, Naru/Sai/Sasu I enjoy sides of: InoChou, Shika/Anyone, Jira/Tsuna, Gaara/Males, Neji/Hina, Neji/Males, Lee/Anyone, Obi/Rin/Kaka xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Things I dislike a. The unnecessary and improper use of Japanese (or any other language) words in a fic. No. No kawaiis, no bakas, no mas, demos, dobes, or ah fuck - teme (so commonly used incorrectly anyway), or anything else you can think of. b. Pronouns are not your enemy. There is no need to abuse descriptive nouns - use them sparingly. Yes, that means that you, s/he who refers to selected persons too insistently as the blonde or the raven or the newly appointed expert teacher who also has silver hair and a mask and reads porn and is mysterious. No need to point it out every other sentence. c. The unfathomable inability to use conjunctions and/or put the comma to work. I cannot read anything that is entirely separated into curt, crude sentences. d. The usual stuff - Mary-sues, implausible circumstances, unfortunately OCs, and the like. Mary-sues extend to borrowed characters, not everyone in the world is gay (nor straight, though), no, you can't get pregnant through butt!sex, and yes, your attempts to integrate UzumakiUchihaHaruno AbbyMayLaraKiraSuki into the story is very unwelcome. e. America's adorable attempts at English and spelling. This though, I can overlook, as I know it isn't exactly fair. Things I do like a. Accurate portrayals of borrowed characters, or exceptionally deep and thought-out original takes on said characters. (In other words, great IC characters, or fabulously written OOC characters.) b. Attention to imagery. Furthermore, attention to the five senses. Destruction of the fourth wall. c. Age/context appropriate dialogue. d. BL and GL. Simply a personal preference, or course, and it isn't to say that all heterosexual romances are bad. I naturally gravitate to gay stories, is all. e. The use of a well-varied and rich vocabulary. With regards to my writing... a. I dislike using gender-specific titles/descriptive nouns or adjectives. I make the occasional slip up, but I almost always use the male-associated term - ie. steward or waiter. Similarly, I only use the feminine forms of words such as blonde and brunette to describe either gender. So yes, I am making these 'mistakes' consciously. b. I am... rather painfully subconscious about my writing. It seems to be the only thing powerful enough to draw out my emotions to a dramatic extent (with the exception of reading, which does a very good job of it as well). That being said, I'm susceptible to overemphasised feelings of frustration, anxiety and discouragement, all of which are self-imposed. Likewise, I'm easily motivated by kindly worded critique and honest feedback from third parties. c. Which brings me to... my writing really sucks. At least I think it does. Perhaps not in a conventional sense, but I have a really bad sense of plot and direction, and sometimes I find myself tripping into potholes with no means of escape. My secret kryptonite is dialogue, because no, I don't have a natural affinity for social exchange like most human beings do. I converse differently from others within my age range, and it shows from time to time in my writing. These are situations in which I work tirelessly to improve, but I choose to be upfront with it by way of warning, I suppose. d. I want to say my grasp of English is impeccable. I have a pretty extensive vocabulary, and I'm quite prideful for my grammatical spidey-senses, but sometimes (especially when sleepy), I slip into my naturally fob self without thinking. It happens occasionally and since I proofread my own works several times over, I usually catch it, but if I manage to miss a time in which I've blundered, screwing up vocabulary and context or the like, I apologise in advance. e. I don't write as actively as I once had. It's not that I don't want to, it is that I simply can't. I'm going to try though, and make contributions when the gate holding my endless plot bunnies hostage can no longer sustain the sheer force of them.
