INTRODUCTION Hiya :) This is the page of the guy who calls himself Gentleman Gamer; newbie to FanFiction.net, and amateur (though aspiring would be a more accurate way to put it) writer of fan fiction. I'm a 21 year old college student, aspiring writer and librarian, reader, gamer, otaku and jazz fanatic. I like both but I enjoy coffee more than tea, raisins are gross, dark chocolate trumps milk chocolate in my books and for whatever reason, despite being 100 percent Caucasian I am a HUGE fan of Indian food... and basically anything spicy. Also yes; I realize calling myself 'Gentleman Gamer' is a bit of a unique choice for a handle, to be sure. It's just that, well, I feel like despite the 'liberal', 'open minded' nature of our society, good manners and common respect are not often things that I see in this 'equal treatment'. I know that's such an 'old person' thing to say, and I'm not saying that I expect other people to be completely perfect all the time; I'm certainly not, so it's not my place to judge others for not being so. Still, it's something that aspire to, and thus something I TRY to aspire to in whatever community I'm in; school, church, home, online, wherever. :) MY FANDOMS As for what I'll be writing, I enjoy a TON of different books, games, movies and anime. but for the actual FANDOM side of things, I have a few different series in particular I subscribe to: -Ace Attorney: My first visual novel series I've ever played ( I was 14 when I first got introduced to it), and probably my favorite. The mysteries are compelling, and the whole idea of having to prove a premise of a mystery wrong by defending the innocent and confronting the culprit in court- while far-fetched as a concept- is completely awesome and engaging in practice. The characters, while quirky ("I never drink anymore than 17 cups of coffee in any given trial... that's one of my rules"), all manage to feel HUMAN, and can sometimes be very cool either because of or in spite of their quirks. The music, especially the jazz and orchestra remixes done, is awesome and really makes each scene feel distinctive. The fact that there have been 5 main games, 2 spin offs and 1 crossover in the series and I'm still eagerly anticipating anything more they can give me speaks volumes as to the quality of the series; may we and many others Object for many years to come! :D ...Plus I've got to say, the main characters really have taught me a thing or two about how to clean up when dressing up; I mean Apollo Justice, Miles Edgeworth, freaking Godot? Way to be classy guys, way to BE classy :) -Persona 3 and 4: Confession time; haven't played the first two games in the series. I keep on THINKING I will, but the changes in gameplay/story/music/character direction from the third game on (from what I hear) suits my tastes as a gamer better. The characters manage to be distinct but very realistic and feel like people we know (it doesn't hurt that they're all impeccably dressed :) ). The stories are slow moving as they take place over a year each, but draw you in with their unique premises and keep you hooked from start to finish. The music is awesomesauce, with the various vocal and instrumental themes being stuck in my head for DAYS ON END (especially that featuring Lotus Juice). Finally, they both have that undeniable feeling of STYLE to them that makes them stand out from basically anything else I've ever read, watched, or played, but in the best possible way. I love it all; here's hoping Persona 5 turns out to be awesome! :D -Danganronpa: A more recent gaming experience but no less awesome, Danganronpa is something that nonetheless has worked its way into my heart and rooted itself in my memory. In essence it takes parts from Ace Attorney and Persona, so obviously that stuff will appeal to me; still, it has a certain something all of its own that I haven't seen anywhere else. I mean look at the premise; it takes 16 quirky and talented high school students, sticks them in the clutches of a psychopathic monochrome robotic teddy bear with no way to escape, they're told the only way to escape is to kill each other and get away with it, and whenever a murder happens they need to participate in a 'class trial' to find the culprit or else he'll escape and the rest of them will die. It can be funny as all heck, but it's also undeniably dark; quite a few my favorite characters ended up dying, making me- a then 20 year old guy when the 2 existing games got released- legitimately cry when they left. Still finishing the story is undoubtedly rewarding, and the series has a certain undeniable charm to it that makes me love it despite the fact it has ripped my feelings to pieces on numerous occasions; I know it sounds weird but trust me, if you play it, you'll understand :) Other than that, there are a few other series of note that I may or may write about if I get the inclination, such as Professor Layton, Steins Gate, and Haruhi Suzumiya. Still, if I DO decide to write something, it'll probably be one of the above three fandoms; they seem more up my alley in terms of writing style. :) Anyways... uh..., that's about it. Here's hoping I'll be able to make my life on Fanfiction a productive one, and that at least some of you will enjoy my future works :) |
