![]() Author has written 2 stories for RWBY, and Armored Core. Profile: Not dead! Though an unfortunate terminal case of 'Real Life' has cut into my free time. Being a business manager tends to do that. Ground Rules: Nothing completely super serious, or ought at "Putting my Foot down" levels. At least not yet, anyway. Just a couple of things that - if I ever get around to being sent PMs - I'd like and appreciate if they were kept in mind. - FCs vs. OCs. Not terribly important, but every now and then I may swap between how I define the term. To me, a FC (Fan Character, not Football Club!) is a self-created character created for the express purpose of appearing in a FanFic. An OC is a character that I consider created for an actual piece of Original Fiction. So if I ever do reply to a PM with the terms listed swapped around or whatever, please keep it in mind. - "Originality". There have probably been many a time when someone has levelled the "It's been done so many times, there's no such thing as an original idea any more." argument/excuse around, be it on this site, or in person. And if there is anything my Uni course has taught me, It is that it holds some water. Not as an excuse for un-originality, but the fact that it is true. I will admit that I use already existing characters as templates for my FCs. There has been plenty of times I have seen something I like, and then subconsciously or deliberately worked into my own work. If there are any elements that resemble [Insert Element Here] a quick message asking if it was on purpose or not will more-than-likely be replied to. - Canon Compliance. The way I see it in the realm of FanFic, canon is something to act as a guidebook, and not a gospel. Personally, I see canon as a well worn road in uncharted lands. Sticking to said road is all well and good, but a little foray into the uncharted areas to forge your own path is half the fun. Of course, veering so far from canon can be just as - if not worse - than sticking to it. I am sure that we have all read that one story that does so to such extremes that we wish we could erase it from our minds. I know I have. - Update pace. I am not going to lie. Time management is not something I particularly excel at. Not to mention Real Life and all that entails. I will try and update as often as I am able - barring extenuating circumstances - in the future, but said future is not set in stone, and neither is my timetable. It may be excuse, but sometimes it is all I may be able to offer. - PEE-ing. I do hope you are not smirking. If there is anything I learned from my English classes, it'd how PEE. Point. Evidence. Explain. If something does come up in one of my stories that is horrifically "wrong" to you and you must point it out in a review, I request a little bit of context. Simply stating "Your grammar was off", "[Insert Character Here] is acting Out of Character" or the ever lovely "Your story sucks" leaves me with...not a whole lot to work with when I come to looking it over. I am not asking for entire paragraphs of Points, Evidence, and Explanation. Even a single, coherent line will do. Just something I can absorb without confusion and headache when I come to reply. - FAQs. Should it ever get to the point that the questions do become frequent in the future, I may create a small section in my profile labelled as such with said questions answered. Until then though, feel free to ask away! I just request that it be understood that some questions may not be answered due to certain reasons, although I will give said reasons in response to the question in...err, question. Well...that's the first few Ground Rules set down. If I think of any more, I'll put it up here. Stories: I may only have a single story at the moment - a Flagship story, if you will - but that doesn't mean it is the only thing I have floating around in the void that is my mind. There are others, existing in nothing more than a handful of scenes and the barest of potential Plots. I'll list a few of them as well as a reason for existing of them if I can think coherently to write one - and if they do catch your eye, a casual discussion would only be a PM away. Bare in mind though than if I did begin to write multiple projects, that would mean an even more erratic upload rate for pre-existing stories. Available to Read: Calibre of a Forged Soul. [Update Pace Severely Slowed; Chapter Re-writes in progress] Canon Compliance for Calibre as a story: I'll mention it now before I go any further into Calibre as a whole. Disclaimer. Whatever you want to call it. I will not be completely obeying canon. The thing with writing Fic based on a series is that is still updating is that there will be situations were canon disagrees with the story you've written. I will not be altering my story and what is planned to confirm to canon. I will - however - "cherry pick" bits and pieces I like from canon and integrate them into the World of Calibre. The only part of canon that is completely unchanged in Calibre is what was explicitly shown in S1E1 "Ruby Rose". After that is where the Divergence Point is and where "Bronze Presentation" joins up. Everything in canon after that is up in the air/whatever I want. If you feel the need to yell at me about canon and what I'm doing with Calibre, I will state this: either you didn't read this - in which case, your fault and whatever my reply is will be on your head - if I reply at all. Or you did and suitably ignored it because I'm "the bad guy" that's "destroying canon for my own entertainment" or some-such. In which case your free to leave and go watch canon RWBY. I'm not stopping you and you're the one that wasted time raging at me for something I enjoy writing. Armoured Core 4: Silent Prophet. [In Progress] Nothing more than Ideas: Ideas come, and Ideas go, and I've been told that I think far too much - if that's actually possible. Things sat here are probably going to be prone to disappearing based on how motivated I am to think about them to the point that I have Word or something similar open for me to jot them down. Ideas have come, and Ideas have gone. And I've got none at the moment. Last but not least - Criticism: Not personal criticism - as much as I believe will turn up - mind you, but honest, constructive criticism on any of my works is and will be appreciated. It's all well and good sitting back and going "this is crap!" or "He'd do better doing [Insert Criticism Here]", but unless I'm told so...well, I can't improve. I may write for personal enjoyment, but other people commenting - and every once in a while, liking - my tales is always a bonus. So if you do have an opinion, by all means share it! I certainly wouldn't mind it! |
