Elena and Caroline travel to New Orleans to search for a witch who can resurrect Bonnie. But on their way, they bump into Elijah and Klaus and end up making a deal with them. Elena and Elijah. Klaus and Caroline. Bonnie and Kol.

With Caroline's relationship over with Tyler, she is left walking on a lonely road. With her friends busy to save Elena, Caroline is kept in the dark and when a Spell goes wrong she is sent spiralling to unfamiliar time. Where she meets a very attractive yet dangerous Klaus. Caroline is desperate to go back home to her own time but to achieve this she must make her heart whole.

Elena time-travels to put an end to Klaus. Caroline follows her to stop her, but they end up in the wrong time & find Ester pregnant with Henrick. For some reason, they decide to stay back. They return with something unexpected and is avoiding everyone, especially the Originals. They are hiding something. Something big. What is it? What happened in the past?

When Caroline hears a knock on her door at ten in the morning, the last thing she expects is Klaus to be holding a baby in terror. The note with him tells them he is Henry. He was made with magic. He ages. He's a vampire. He's special. He's unwanted. Caroline agrees to help Klaus with the baby, but really doesn't expect it to cause so much trouble with everyone else.

Trying to find out which Original the gangs bloodline leads to, Bonnie produces a spell that sends Caroline into the past; learning more about Klaus and uncovering secrets she never expected, Caroline begins to realize that nothing is merely coincidence.
