AU. Jane and Frost are wounded in a shoot out and are taken to the hospital where they inevitably cross paths with Dr. Maura Isles. Two very different women, from two very different worlds, crossing many lines and blurring others. Hurt/Comfort, Humor, Romance.

Dr. Isles is brought to BPD while Detective Rizzoli is on leave, mourning the death of her husband. On her return, Jane is barely a shadow of the charismatic, fun-loving person Maura had heard so much about. Everybody assumes they know why this is. Maura becomes the first to learn all the reasons why, and is the first one who truly gets Jane Rizzoli. *TEMPORARILY discontinued :(

And nobody can ever know they're settling for each other just to put an end to loneliness. On this, they agree. Behind closed doors, they'll just be best friends. Together, but just best friends. But what happens when that line begins to blur?
