Update 6/23/2013: Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be starting on Chapter 35 of Goldilocks next week, after I finish my commissions on DeviantArt and some other personal stuff. I only have three more commissions to go, a couple of oneshots, and some OC critiquing to do, and that's it! I'm going to try my hardest to get a chapter out every Friday so that I can finish Goldilocks before I have to go back to college!

As A Writer

As a writer I strive to improve with each work I write, and feel that I have so far accomplished that from what I wrote two years ago compared to my writing today. I've developed an appreciation for different styles, ideas, and points of view, and while I may have my side of how I feel things should be done, I'm open to listening to how what I do could be done differently.

I appreciate opinions and criticisms.

I DON'T appreciate flames, bashing, or mindless ranting. Please use sense in your thoughts and kindness toward me as I would to you.

Tell me how I can improve. Tell me what you like and dislike. Let me know if anything's confusing. Let me know what my strong and weak points are. Be specific and point out examples, otherwise I won't be able to see where you're coming from!

Here's what I feel are my strengths and weaknesses:

Strong Points:

1.) Characterization - I believe this is what I am most successful at, and it's something that is just a natural part of my own personality. I like to observe people, I can notice small, subtle changes; little things about a person. What they're feeling and how they act, I can usually tell just from a glance. I find personalities incredibly intriguing, and so once I see one that captivates me, I'll most likely never forget it. With Bleach as an example, I watch a few episodes, and I have their personality down immediately. Sometimes when I feel that I might be making a character OOC, I go back to the manga and then see that I had it right...so...most of the time I don't believe I'll write a character OOC, but if you think I do, let me know! I want to do justice to canon characters because the creators worked so hard on them. :) I'm also (apparently?) pretty darn good at making OCs, major and minor. I dunno, I just think it's fun to show different personalities, and I actually imagine my OCs as being real people and use things I see every day and incorporate them with that.

2.) Spelling/Grammar - For the most part I think I'm pretty good at this! Yay for crazy English teachers pounding the English language into our heads! Though every now and again I'll make a slip, just kindly point it out and I'll fix it eventually.

Weak Points:

1.) Plot - Okay, I KNOW I suck at this. :/ I am very hazy as to where I'm going to take my stories, I know what I'm going to do in the next chapter, and other itty bitty details, but the big picture is like...whoa. I'm not even thinking about that. So I'm very bad about having a good plot, you'll wonder where the heck I'm going with my stories and sometimes even I don't know and I try to just go with the flow...yeah. I know that's one area I need to improve on. Sometimes I'll have details in one chapter and you won't even see them come up until a bajillion chapters later, and then you won't even have realized that detail was important. xP

2.) Details/Being Descriptive - I'm kind of "...eh" on this. Again, I can describe a character's thoughts really well (most times I'll write in third-person omniscient), but with things like describing how things look or other sensory things...I'm not so good at. At first I barely used any details, then they were too flowery/poetic, and now it's kind of half-and-half. I use the excuse that I want to leave some of it up to the reader's imagination, but I can't do that with everything. I appreciate when authors describe things so I should probably try to do that too.

3.) Lemons - DO NOT TELL ME OTHERWISE, FOOL. (There aren't any on here, yet, but you can read some on my DA account.)

And yes, I am my biggest critic. I think every artist is the biggest critic of their own work, though I try not to beat myself up too much over it. I'm young and learning. I hope I'll continue to write in my twenties and even thirties! It's a passion and hobby for me, not something I want to make money off of or a career out of. I just love putting thoughts on paper and using words to describe things!

As A Reader

I like...

- reading about pairings I like
- romance/humor/adventure
- Bleach stuff (of course)
- authors that explore a point of view other than their own
- crack pairings that are written in a believable way
- some AU fanfics
- stories that actually look like the author took the time to research the subject

I dislike...

- any fic that bashes a character or kills off a character because the author dislikes that character (really people?)
- rape written in a way that shows it as romantic or sexually stimulating (again...seriously? rape is NOT romantic or "hot" to read. it's sick and insulting to rape victims)
- when canon characters are horribly OOC without any reason
- love triangles/harems
- yaoi/yuri written only for smut because it's "hot" (wow...)

I review most every story I read now, however, if I come across one I dislike, I'll just move on, unless the person specifically asks for constructive criticism. I do for my stories, because I know I can improve and I like to hear others' opinions, so long as they're said respectfully.

About Bleach

I keep up with the manga and episodes, so I know my Bleach stuff. I've been a big fan, though have only been watching it for around two years, even though it's been out for about 6-7. o.O I love the artwork, the plot, the characters are the most amazing part though. TK is a genius with his characters, their personalities are all different from each other and it's amazing, I really admire him for that. (It makes up for the fillers and the plot.)

I also believe that getting into arguments over pairings on the INTERNET is really pathetic and ignorant of people. By showing me that you don't respect other people's opinions, it's hard for me to respect you as a person. So just respect people's likes and dislikes, I really hate flames and hate groups and bashing in general. It's just pointless to me, rave about what you love, NOT what you hate.

So I decided to create this for those curious about my Bleach OC, Marise Asahina. :D If you have any questions, feel free to ask them and I’ll add it here:

Q: Why did you create her?
A: Because I needed to pair Shinji with someone. :P I love Hiyori and I ship them, but mostly as a brother/sister thing, because that’s the relationship I feel they have. And…I’m not too big on yaoi either. O.o (Though some Shinji x Aizen stuff is cute/hilarious, but then again I'm not too big on yaoi in general. xD)

Q: Is she a self-insert? (Basically “self-insert” means the character is based off of the creator in almost every aspect.)
A: Pfft, no. xD She and I are almost complete opposites, in personality and in appearance. I actually love Hello Kitty. I didn’t want to create a character based off of myself, because 1) I think that’s kind of hard, and 2) I think that’s very boring. I mean, I have to deal with myself everyday, so it’s fun to write a character that’s unlike you; it’s also a challenge. So do not think that what I write through Marise represents my point of view, I love Orihime. Just because Marise doesn’t, doesn’t mean I don’t. Likewise I don't have a glasses fetish and I don't hate Hello Kitty, I'm okay with math, etc.

Q: Is she your baby?
A: Uh…no, that’s weird. . Rarely will I ever say, “I love my OC!”, I mean, of course I won’t create a character I hate. Let’s just say I’m very happy with how she turned out. _ I usually do have a soft spot for characters that are none too bright though, haha. (However, I would not be able to deal with Marise if she were real.) Somehow I always like the characters that everyone either finds “annoying,” “creepy” or “weird.” :P

Q: Mary-Sue?
A: You tell me. I’m not going to say, “SHE IS NOT A MARY SUE, YOU’RE ALL JUST HATING.” Everyone has his or her own opinion, and I don’t even like that phrase, to be quite honest. I prefer the terms “unrealistic” or “underdeveloped.” The concept of a Mary Sue embodies so many different concepts, which includes perfection of appearance, flawless personality, tragic past, too powerful, etc. That’s just too much, a character can be “Sue-ish” toward one end of the spectrum, but balanced at the opposite end. If you would like to point out she’s a Mary Sue, please do so by specifically pointing out which part you find unrealistic. (Like I said before, just saying she’s a Mary Sue is too vague.)

I have, however, taken a multitude of Mary Sue tests for her, and she’s scored non-Sue on all of them. Be that as it may, I’m not going to throw that in your face and say, “Ha! Proof she isn’t a Sue!”, because honestly, that’s idiotic. -_- I respect people’s opinions.

Q: Why all the pink???
A: I have no idea, pink isn’t even my favorite color. o.o I guess I thought Bleach needed some more pink, poor Yachiru-chan is the only one. T_T I also somehow had it stuck in my head that Mari should wear hot pink skinny jeans, because girls don’t have to wear skirts/dresses to look cute/girly!

Q: Is she really fat?
A: Eh…I guess it depends on your definition. She is chubby around the face (d’aww, she has a baby face), and is curvaceous, so since she’s pretty short (4’11”) I guess she would appear a little overweight. And that’s where her self-esteem issues kick in, haha.

Q: Why is she obsessed with Lupin III?
A: I watched a video on YouTube of Hirako’s theme song, and one of the comments said in the picture he looked like a character called Lupin III. I have never heard of it and so went on Google Images, and whaddya know, the main character of that show did have the same suave style as Shinji. I watched the first few episodes and I actually really like it, but I haven’t had time to watch any more. I think Mari likes him for his personality; he’s kind of goofy, but still badass. (*gasp* Like a certain someone we know…!)

Q: Where did her name come from?
A: Oh gosh, that’s a long story. v.v I was soooo picky when it came to her name, I changed it about a thousand times. Hana Kimuri, Adele Yanase, Yoko/Gwen/Zen Watanabe, Angelica Watanabe were all names I went through before I settled on Marise Asahina. Actually, those names before were also kind of different characters too, haha. If you notice there is no “k” in Mari’s name, I did that in purpose because I felt that the Japanese language focuses too much on that sound. xDDD “Asahina” I found on Wikipedia and I really liked it, it means “morning doll.” (Fun Fact: Mikuru from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya also has that last name.) Her first name is another story; it’s weird, isn’t it? Most would think that it’s spelled wrong, that it should be, “Marisa,” like Marisa Kirisame from Touhou. But no, it’s actually supposed to be that way. I wanted a name that was Japanese and French, and lookee there, this came out! So it has meanings in both languages, it’s the French form of Mary, also means "bitter" or "beloved." In Japanese it’s apprantely a unisex name and means "infinite" or "endless." It’s pronounced MAH-REE-SAY.

Q: Why does she like Rose, Love and Uryu?
A: It’s not just those guys, as the stories go along, she’ll obsess over a few other characters, and they all have one thing in common: glasses. Mari has a glasses kink, maybe because she thinks all people with glasses are smart or something stupid like that, lol. :D (Oh gosh, just wait until Shinji finds out about that!)

Q: Will she be shipped with other characters?
A: I don’t really like love triangles, however, if there are any hints of that, it’ll only be in a comical sense. (Like with the glasses kink above.) Also, I admire Tite Kubo for being able to keep Bleach a shonen anime with no distinct couples, even though sometimes it annoys the hell out of me… :P So you can argue for some other ships, like Ginjo x Mari and possibly even Aizen x Mari later on. But it will never be serious and the true romance will solely be Shinji x Marise.

Q: Why did you choose her to be a Human?
A: I have no idea; I just really like the Humans for some reason. To me it just didn’t fit for her to be an Arrancar, Shinigami, and I don’t plan on having her become a Visored, for those of you wondering. Though I have to admit, I came up with her before the Fullbringer arc came out in the manga, and struggled so much with her powers. Then with this new concept I made her a Fullbringer, but even then I changed her Fullbring three times. :P So…we’ll just say I’m not good at making powers/abilities in general, lol.

Q: Why half-French?
A: I haven't a clue. I'm sure a long time ago I had a reason for it, but now I don't remember. (I think it would be weird to randomly make her half-French). Hmm...well, maybe I wanted to diversify Bleach, I like that Chad is half-Mexican, the Arrancar have a Spanish flair and Uryu has that whole German thing going on. Plus, I love the culture of French and I can have a lot of fun with it perversely speaking. (With Marise being a French maid and all, mwahaha.) Just to make Shinji's life better. xD

Q: Will Shinji and Mari get married and/or make babies? :DDDD
A: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, DEAR CHILD??? I no give spoilers. :I /bitch
