After breaking off her engagement to Ron, Hermione takes a two-year apprenticeship under Madam Pomfrey in the newly renovated Hogwarts to earn her certification as a healer. She runs into Ron's older brother, Charlie, who accepted the temporary position as the Professor of Care Of Magical Creatures while he recovers from an injury. A strong friendship is formed then transitions.
