Hello all! The introduction to fanfiction for me came in seventh grade, though rarely did I think of it until ninth or tenth grade. My initial interest was in the humorous aspect of fanfiction, but now I enjoy the general topic of fandom from a mostly analytical/critical standpoint. I am a well-practiced reader and editor, and a skillful technical writer, but my forays into fiction are few and feeble. Series I am familiar with: House M.D., the CSI franchise, Supernatural, Castle, Law and Order, NCIS, Psych, Numb3rs, Arrested Development, Flight of the Conchords, Common Law, BBC Sherlock, White Collar, Bones, Perception, and many golden-age/silver-age/nineties/early 2k cartoons and children's shows. Reading is my first true love with regards to fictional worlds, and I have many beloved series, though I generally do not participate in book fandoms. I read almost anything as a child, but I favored fantasy, mystery, and historical novels. I read many classics and I find children's literature and folk tales intriguing. Fun fact--the first fanfiction I read was Hardy Boys. Films, games, cartoons, and comics are all a part of my interests. I used to keep a keen eye on manga and anime, however my interest in those media is mostly in passing nowadays. I am a child of the nineties, so my pop cultural knowledge is fairly sparse anytime before the eighties. I am a Shakespeare enthusiast and I enjoy both reading and watching renditions of his plays (whether on film or stage). Currently, my main fan interest is in Suits and Merlin. Previous fandoms include Psych, Numb3rs, a little CSI, Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew, and National Treasure. |
