La Bayadère

About me: I'm Rémi (female). I'm a university student currently based in the US, studying dance and history.

About my name: I've had a few people ask, so here's the story. Bayadère means temple dancer. La Bayadère is a classical ballet set in India about a temple dancer, Nikiya, who is loved by a warrior and a high priest. The story is pretty weird and all over the place; love and mystery and vengeance and opium dream sequences- blah blah blah. It's just fantastic. Though I don't really care for Nikiya as a character, I like the name temple dancer because I never like the term "ballerina" to describe myself. The ballet shows the beauty and the prestige of the temple dancers, but also shows how a girl who just wants to dance is exploited for the beauty she creates by those who don't understand it. I found that very poetic, hence the name.

Fandoms: Mainly Zutara. I'm involved in a lot of other fandoms, but I haven't really gotten into any of their ff yet... which might be a good thing. We'll see.
